One of the few theaters in NJ that offer open captions which is great. However, showtime selection for movies with open captions is terrible. I know this isn't something they have much, if any, control over. My issue is management being poorly informed on dealings with open captions, specifically requesting a showtime for a movie. This process is available by request via a form on the AMC website. Unfortunately management doesn't seem to be aware of this and instead tried to tell us we had to do a private theater rental. These are two very different things as the request for an open captioned showtime is open to the public as well. Regardless of ability to approve or deny a request like this, management should at the VERY least know about this existing. Open captions becoming available was something that as a deaf person I was so incredibly excited about but my experience with finding available show times has been about as easy as getting the CC device set up and working right. A show closing. What used to be the best theater to be in. Is not even a C theater anymore. Broken chairs. Hard popcorn at 11am. Tasting like left over last nights popcorn. I am so disappointed in AMC for even allowing this to be. Managers can get upgrade money I am sure. But this one has not changed anything other then the concession stand to get more food money. Very disappointed with my experience. I ordered at the kiosk and waited, but my ticket number was never called. The place was not busy, yet I still waited several minutes for popcorn while staff were talking instead of helping. When I asked for assistance, an older woman with white dreadlocks told me that my ticket number had already been called and seemed annoyed that I asked. She then had someone else get my food and told me to be ready next time. The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. I expected much better communication and customer service. read more

It's a decent movie theatre. We go there sometimes since our relatives live around East Brunswick. It's a nice place with 18 theatres and plenty of parking. I have not seen any AMC theatres to complain about. I will continue to go to movies; home theatres cannot compare to the large screens and outstanding sounds in the movie theatres. Popcorn and drinks, and I am all set. We probably go to the theatre every couple of months. I recommend these theatres. read more

This place is gross. The staff was really friendly from the moment we walked in but the smell is terrible. The seats are filthy. It's a pee smell and everything is sticky and stained. Must be an older theater. While the chairs weren't updated recliners, they were a bit low but comfy for the duration of the movie. Theater was clean. Temperature and sound quality was great. Didn't see restrooms. I was a bit disappointed on the "butter flavored" clearish substance that I put on my popcorn. It tasted ok but I had to keep wondering why it was clear. Please! Horrible! Unsanitary - The Department of Health needs to evaluate this AMC location. went to a matinee, which means the first movie times upon opening and the theater. Seven cupholder was sticky and dirty.The small seat backing were stained .The coils from upholstery could be felt on buttocks .the condiment food area was nasty, sticky, dirty, and be mindful that this was the first showing opening. Can just imagine what is running around in the theater when it is not officially opened - felt very uncomfortable when the lights were out and filth surrounded me, My experience was horrible. A cinema hall that reminds me of the old library in my neighborhood, from my school days - it lacked the shine and gloss, yet would have a place, a facility to run, books to sell or rent and member people not shying away from it. This place has abundant parking place, a great decor, but not-so-glamorous/modern looking foyer as you enter, modestly cleaned washrooms, staff who don't glare at you and ticket deals that are eye-candies on certain days. The movies play with good and video but you still yearn for a better seating as this business still seem to be in the medieval times of non-recliners, some of which are bit torn and look like they need some serious cleaning. The sound proofing could be better as we could hear overlapping sounds from our neighboring screen. read more

Movie theaters want customers to come back to watch movies but they do not spend any money to renovate their theaters!!! They stuck us in the smallest and most likely the dirtiest of them all, Auditorium 6! if your movie is in there, go get a refund and do not go in. The chairs were creaking, its springs were all broken and the cushion was worn out!!! My behind started hurting after 45 mins. There is dirt everywhere and gum stuck in a lot of its chairs. The theater had a moldy stale smell and on top of it all, the sounds coming out of Auditorium 5 was so loud, I could barely concentrate on my own movie!!! Towards the last one hour, I started feeling itchy and was terrified I would bring home bed bugs or something. I will wait for it to come out on streaming next time!!!! read more

It's a solid run of the mill theater. Not a recliner or fork and screen theater. Just regular theater. It's clean and has a decent snack counter. The prices are fair for most theaters these days and it has all major feature pictures always showing. You can sometimes get luck and get a theater to yourself late night. Went to out for my family movie night to encounter that the theatre had ticket scanning issues, making me late for my movie. Then the concession stand was short staffed, long line, mediocre at best. Some food absolutely terrible .. what a rip off for what they charge. They didnt have enough collectible movie bucket and items and yet they have them on display. They should place a sold out sign on the items. I could have saved time waiting to hear no. To make it even worse NO AIR CONDITIONING !! No one told us upon entry. I was not even given a choice to go to another theatre with my tickets. Then I went searching for a manager that was not available and employees that gave me the run around. Came here since this was the closest IMAX theater playing Queen. Now I see why I don't come here often. Bathroom has no hot water, even the hand dryers were cold air. Seats weren't that comfortable but what was worst was that the theater was not cleaned between movies. There was garbage left from the people before us. The staff's behavior was quite impolite; despite providing our IDs, they insisted on seeing another form of identification. Their customer service skills were lacking. Ideally, staff should streamline procedures for their patrons, but unfortunately, the employees here were not accommodating and came across as harsh. The cleanliness is not well maintained.... Crazy long lines for concessions and the lobby was filled with popcorn smoke. When we finally got to the front of the line, the register was not working correctly ultimately delaying us further for our movie. The theater itself was HOT, like 80+ degrees hot. Nearly unbearable. Everyone in the theater was constantly fidgeting to try to get comfortable. I tried to call to advise that the air is not working in theater 17 but nobody seemed to care. Oh well. Genuinely how can a movie theater get this bad. When arriving inside and scanning your ticket, you are bombarded by a huge line of people getting food. Having to weave through this traffic just to get to your theater. The entire floor is sticky and just simply disgusting, additionally when wanting to put butter in your popcorn you simply can't because of how gross and nasty the butter is held. The seats are atrocious, ugly, smelly and squeaky. I've never felt this uncomfortable in a theater in my life. Well where do I start! We went into the large theater number 1 where there was garbage on the floor. No exaggeration the floor that had no carpet was so sticky I almost lost my shoe. Wasn't just one section but everywhere. Broken, ripped and stained seats. Popcorn and candy on the seats. Things flying in the air during the movie. Outdated theater, which I don't mind if It is clean. Had a stench maybe garbage smell, not sure why we stayed. Bathrooms where so filthy, no paper towels and stalls without toilet paper. I blame bathrooms on disgusting patrons but still someone should be looking to ensure cleanliness. I felt I was in a time warp, was this really an AMC theater? We were told by the acting manager if was a busy day, however busy or not you clean for the next group. This was not from one day of busy this is from neglect. I want a refund! read more

HORRIBLE movie theater. The seats are dirty and they do not recline. There was a broken side speaker that was spewing loud, screeching and fuzzy noise. Management came and disconnected the side speakers. So only front speakers for Shazam. No surround sound. They gave us free passes but I really just want nothing to do with this place. Yeah, we have the requisite wall-sized screens and home theater technology that can blow out our windows on any given night but the truth is, we love going to the movies. Nothing beats a true first-run feature on a four story screen. Admittedly, I can't stand a packed house and the all-too-common Saturday night douchebaggery that comes with it but a matinee on a Sunday morning leaves you with a virtual private showing, all within shouting distance of six bucks. Honestly, given the current situation and the severe delay in re-opening these ghosted multiplexes, I'm not looking forward to catching the latest Jason Bourne installment sporting a hazmat suit. But... if the absence of first-run filmmaking in a proper setting is one of the casualties of the "new normal" than that's regrettable. One of the absolute worst theaters to watch a movie. The seats are uncomfortably narrow, don't recline and are most likely a decade old. Half of the seats I tried sitting in were either really dirty and stained or had broken and unusable cup holders. This was theater 1! An 8:45pm showing absurdly begins over 25 minutes later. For a week night showing, that is really inconsiderate. The concession stand was a comedy act. One guy who was super slow and another guy who tried hard to make up for it by being quick but was super curt and rushing customers in the process. The parking lot had no overhead lights whatsoever. Walking back to my car after the movie was like walking down a dark alley right before getting mugged. This is one of those establishments that don't value your business. read more

I went on March 23rd to watch movie I had a coffee with me and very RUDE lady manager comes and tells me I'm not Allowed me to take anything inside I said it's just a coffee and the rude manager said so. I said what SO.! It's just a coffee and I'm not taking for the first time the coffee and I do take many times bcoz I'm AMC customer from past 11 years and I never had this issue for not taking coffee inside the movie theater. She said no. That manager was not having any idea I alone have watched almost 504 movies at many AMC cinema till now from past 11 years.. this is worst and not good and not fair. The seats in the Imax theater need to be ripped out. Most theaters have removed fabric seating and have replaced them with a leather-like material which is much easier to clean. I was excited that they now have reserved seating, but that was accomplished by them simply applying a small numbered sticker on the arm of the same old seats. So now, if your seat has a really weird stain, you can't just change seats, especially with a sold-out show. The screen is large, the sound is great, and AMC stubs still offers rewards. Those are pros that you may choose to focus on if you can overlook the old & stained seats. read more

The theatre is huge, but unfortunately, the parking lot is not really big enough for the number of theatres there! I had to drive around for a while to find a parking spot. I advise leaving at least a half hour before the show to find a spot! The seats are kind of old, but not uncomfortable. When the guy in front of me sat down, his seat went back and almost crushed my foot. There are no hand rails going up to the top of the theatre, and the steps are somewhat steep. The concession stand is predictably expensive, but they do have a decent array of food. One thing which I do like about this theatre is that there are a lot of displays for upcoming movies. It gives me an idea of what will be coming soon, and also, my daughter loves getting pictures of herself with these displays. read more

My experience was horrible. We booked a movie to watch deadpool and wolverine. We payed for popcorn slushy and a drink. We set our stuff down on this greasy table that had many stains of cup and popcorns grease. The slushy machine was not working properly aswell. As we walked to our theater we smelled this old type of wet dusty smell. Once we entered our theater our noses felt very clogged. We were in the back and we turned our flashlight to the back of the theater. THERE WERE SPIDER WEBS, LEFT OVER CANDY BAGS, AND LARGE AMOUNTS OF DUST. read more

Good multicomplex but not all theaters have those 180 degree reclining seats. In fact, the theatre we were in, had comfortable seat but the legroom was like "standard economy" of an airline. Our legs kept bumping into the front seat when the patron ahead reclined. The sound, projection, and the temps were good. Concession stand was a bit smallish (I think) for a metroplex of this size. On the other hand, they do provide self-service "buttering" station for your popcorn. You can get all the protein you need here (assuming you will burn the extra calories that comes with the protein)! In general, AMC seems to be getting customer friendly with A-list subscriber features, $5 Tuesdays, and email offers. They are making going to movies fun again! read more

Large complex housing multiple screens. Offers the most current movies. Love the IMAX. Theatres are large with stadium seating. The seats need an upgrade as they are a bit old and worn out but they are not as uncomfortable as they appear. Usually tidy but would not say clean. Arcade games available to keep kids busy waiting for showtime. Movie posters of current and older decorating the lobby and halls. Concession stands are very slow. There was only 1 line available for the weekend. The premium member line seemed to go slower than the regular line. The delays at the concession stand were a result of obvious understaffing and NOT due to slow employees. The staff was very friendly and were moving at a steady pace trying to accomodate all the moviegoers. The staff at this location is VERY much more pleasant than the Elizabeth AMC employees. As a premier member, halfway through the movie, I went to get a popcorn refill and the lines were still long. The self serve drink station is nice but the lids were unorganized I had to go to the other side to search for the correct size lid. read more

9 May 2023 - AMC NEW BRUNSWICK 18 (NJ) - Went to the 1PM GOTG3 show. Excellent sound and picture in theatre 16. My seat was in the center of the theatre and I had an incredible experience. One of my fave parts of seeing a movie are the Coming Attractions. I had great trailers today! Received INCREDIBLE service from Shah at concessions. Friendly, engaged, truly wanted to help his customers. He was very kind and even laughed at one of my (meh) jokes! LOL This is why I go to the movies at New Brunswick. Manager Nona was incredible. So friendly. Sweet. A contagious laugh. Kind. Helpful and funny. One of the best customer service interactions that I have had at AMC NB18. I will most certainly keep returning!!! AMC theaters aren't all what they are cracked up to be anymore. I remember a time when going to an AMC theater was better than any other theater. I don't know what happened. This one doesn't look like much from the outside. Far off from where I was staying in Wayne. A little complicated (to me at least) to get here, but then again I am a fish out of water. Just a Cali girl exploring the east coast. Parking is easy. No one is here. I could have gone to the front row or the back row to park. Easy PEASY. Inside doesn't look that good either. It wasn't completely dirty, but it wasn't completely clean or even new looking or even I don't know. It was just alright. There were old movie posters hung up, no lines inside because no one was inside, the snack stand didn't even look set up. The price didn't leave me happy either. I spent an evening price for a matinee. Or at least that's what it was like. Absolutely yuck. I did like the inside of the theater where I watched the movie. Super clean. The seats were comfortable.
