This was my first visit to this practice. I was impressed with the office and all of the staff. Dr. Bentley was very nice and informative. Nothing was impressed on me to do, allergy testing, bloodwork or any other tests. No pressure. The only thing that was bothersome was all of the ringing phones. I have been very disappointed with the excessive wait time and unprofessional experience. The way this clinic is ran goes against the mission statement and values. I had two scheduled appointments in which I was not seen due to waiting almost an hour. Today my appointment was at 2:30 PM, vital taken at 3 PM, went to ask about the wait at 3:25 PM and was told about another 30 minute. Leaving a review here as well. Horrible experience with staff. Was promised a call by management which I never received. I needed a refill on a prescription that is an ongoing maintenance medication for diabetes. I was under the care of a nurse practitioner and I was current with my visits. For two weeks they "attempted" to fill a prescription which was rejected because they were not doing it correctly. I called 3 times AND also spoke to the Nurse Practitioner in person at my appt. However they refused to do a simple thing so that it could be processed. They do not listen. I returned to my prior doctor who now is under my current insurance and guess what? Less than 24 hrs and my prescription was filled. Approved by my insurance because he listened and knows what to do. These people at Hillside do not listen and they give misinformation. The people that handle the insurance for the practice and answer any billing questions are outsourced to foreign nations. This adds to communication barriers. I am shocked by the horrible care that I received and will not be returning. If I do for some reason it will not be to the Live Oak location which is outright awful. It looks nice on the outside but beware of what goes on when you walk in. Unreasonably long wait times past your scheduled appointment, staff who do not listen, and management that refuses to reach out to make things right. You have lost my whole family because we are not important enough evidently to receive the quality care any human deserves. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. We were in urgent need of an appointment, and the immediate opening for new patients made sense only after our experience. My husband had a 9:15 AM appointment but didn't get called back until 10:30, and that was only after we inquired about a refund to leave. While we waited, multiple patients who arrived after us were seen before him. When the doctor, "Dr. Mark Bentley" finally entered the room, he didn't make eye contact or even examine my husband's throat, despite the severe pain he was experiencing. He performed one test and used a phone light to look in my husband's mouth--completely inadequate. When the test came back negative, he dismissed the pain as viral and offered no further help or testing. There were no images taken or any attempt to assess the swelling. I've been trying to get a refund for the $110 charge after they assured me over the phone that there would be a $0 copay. It's frustrating to deal with such a clear discrepancy. I will keep emailing, calling, and even visiting in person until this issue is resolved. It shouldn't be this difficult to get a refund. I hope they address this soon. Overall, the lack of professionalism and care was shocking. I would recommend seeking medical attention elsewhere. read more

Pharmacy is lazy. If an order from the doctor didn't come to the pharmacy to be filled they should call to get the the prescription to get it filled. The patient shouldn't have to run back upstairs to make sure the information has been sent. We do have phones these days. read more

I saw NPs at the Stone Oak location and the psychiatry of San Antonio. On Google reviews the Hillside practice has 5 stars, which is the exact opposite of the experience I and it seems many others have received. I never write bad reviews like this, but I really hope to prevent my experience from happening to someone else. Not only is the staff rude like honestly just rude, it is impossible to speak with someone in the billing department. Quite literally impossible. I have called every day during different times, left voicemails, spoken with the front desk staff and NO ONE can get in touch with billing. It's always "I'll send a message to billing" or "here try this different number for billing" or most recently today "they must be helping someone else because the line is busy" The line is always busy. There has not been a single time I or any of THEIR staff can get through to the billing team. I don't even think their billing team exists at this point. I was billed, then harassed into paying for an appointment that was acknowledged EVEN by the the staff that I was not supposed to be charged for. On top of that every office I've been in has been filthy, the staff are rude and impatient, and the wait times to be seen are very long. I waited 2 and a half hours last week, no joke from my appointment start time at 9 am to 11:15 am. with a toddler to be seen for ten minutes and rushed through. Later when I brought up a serious concern to the NP he treated me like a child, and told me I was "overreacting" Everything down to the medical equipment is unprofessional, the scale you step on is a home scale with a walker around it. I just moved to Texas from Utah and I am hoping in posting this that someone else who is like me can turn and run the other way. read more

I was skeptical of Hillside when I initially chose them for a PCP, but they have impressed me ever since. The wait area is large and may give you bad vibes, but their processes are efficient and I have never waited for more than 30 minutes. Much of your check in is handled online, even payment. The actual providers are mostly physician's assistants and nurse practitioners, but don't let that discourage you. I manage a chronic disease and my nurse practitioner has demonstrated considerable competence and expertise with managing patients with my condition. It's a youthful group. They offer and utilize the latest technology and take the time to explain everything beforehand. Most importantly, they take the time to ensure that whatever procedure or tests they are running in their office are covered by your insurance. That is not a luxury that you get at most Dr's offices or physicians groups. There are lab, pharmacy and other services available in the same building, too, if you want to handle your care one-stop shopping style. The location is a pain to get to with all of the I-35 construction, but I highly recommend Hillside for primary care needs. read more

I don't know how clinic policy is at most offices, but this office has made me come in 4 times in the last 5 months to get any refills. Not in New medication, just the same medicine I've been taking for 4 years. They won't even refill my blood pressure meds. When I communicated my frustration due to difficulties getting off work to come in to doctor just to get my meds, the doctor told me if I would have to go to a new clinic if I don't want to have to come in so often. She said policy is every two months to get refills. I've been coming here for 4 years and I feel like the doctors get less and less helpful and more and more apathetic. They are constantly changing their doctors and I haven't been able to find a nice helpful one here anyways. But it's very frustrating having to find a whole new clinic. read more

I use to see Dr. Patel when he started practicing. This was when he was with another doctor on Pat Booker. He was amazing until he decided to go on his own and hire nurse practitioners and PA. It is now just a business. I am so glad I saw this coming and left this clinic a couple of years ago. I am now with a wonderful practice with 6 doctors and 5 providers. I can see a doctor if I choose to. The wait may be 2 weeks but not what Dr. Patel says his offices takes about 4 months to see a doctor. My advice would be run from this practice. Fatima Elmaanaoui is a remarkable PA. She listens to her patients, is compassionate, honest and cares about each of her patients as individuals. I appreciate her intelligence and how she breaks everything down so I can understand my own plan of care. I deal with many health conditions and am in and out of the hospital almost every month, yet not once have I ever felt like a burden or rushed by her. She doesn't just tell you what you want to hear, she takes a vested interest in your health and investigates if there is something that needs a closer look. Fatima's beds manner is what many doctors should study, she treats her patients with respect and dignity and in her presence you know you and your family are in gifted hands. Her elevated level of care for me is the reason I REFUSE to see ANYONE else. Her knowledge, confidence and integrity are reassuring to me as I've experienced doctors that had no idea what they were doing. My family loves her and pray we will continue to have the honor of being cared for by her. read more

The only reason I am giving it 1 star is because I appreciate only one thing about it, My provider K.S. I have become so disappointed in Hillside Primary Care. I have been a patient since 2018 when it was just Dr. Patel in the old Pat Booker office. Back when he actually saw his patients. It's almost as if he has become a myth as with growth it seems he has just disappeared. Since, I have been shuffled around between PAs and Nurse Practitioners, some decent and others have just been the worst! Thankfully my latest has stuck around and I haven't had to see anyone else.  However, I was informed today, among other things, that she will be on leave for the next 3 months. She has become the best part of the practice for me. Aside from the constant changes in providers, the office practices have become what seems to be less patient-centered and more money motivated!!! This is a shame as in the past I have sung praises about this place and have brought over a few family and friends who are equally as frustrated, with a couple of them leaving for a better organized and caring practice. My experience in the past year or two, outside of my current provider,  has been frustrating to say the least. First, their outsourcing that they were using was/is useless. Receiving follow-up communication is like trying to squeeze water out of a rock. There was a time where I was waiting on a referral to a cardiologist that took 5 months to even get sorted out, mostly because of breaks in communication between outsourced customer service and the officeBle. Every visit I would inform my provider and eventually he just started passing the buck and advised that this was a common problem they were having with the outsourcing. I had the same problem with a referral to an endocrinologist AND pulmonary specialist. Next is the inconsistent billing practices. Several times I have arrived for my appointment and was asked for a copayment when I had a $0 copayment through my insurance at the time. My insurance has since changed due to change of carriers through an employer. Other times I was told I owed money for things that could not be explained, or for rescheduled appointments or advanced cancellations,  that they said were no call no shows, which was not the case. It was consistent for quite some time, as recent as December. My husband has experienced the same including mix ups that were a matter of life and death as he is diabetic and insulin dependent. He also has a few other health conditions that need constant monitoring through labs, which has not been a problem in the past. A few weeks ago he was giving lab orders and went to get the lab work done and was met with intolerable "customer service" . We have never had a copay for labs in the past so when he went to get them done he was advised he needed to pay $50. He advised that this has never been the case and inquired about the change as we were not informed of that change. Though it may have been an issue with the changes with our insurance carrier, he was unaware nonetheless. The response to my husband was not to explain, but rather ask him "are you going to pay it or not?"  My husband advised he was just wanting to understand and it was not a matter of the money. He was dismissive and advised my husband it was not his responsibility to explain. My husband was so upset that he left , came home and said he wanted to find another provider and would prefer to use another lab. Still,  there I was trying to convince him to stay, hopeful the practice would get it together, even though I have grown frustrated especially in the last six months and quite frankly after today's experience I am done and it has sunk in that they do not care about the well being of their patients. Six months ago I required an urgent surgery that would require me to be on medical leave. For that my job required medical certification paperwork filled out. I initially took it to Hillside who stated it was $100 for them to fill in dates, the type of surgery and sign. I found that to be absurd. Instead I had my surgeon do it and they charged only $25. During one of my next visits I was in the lobby and there was an older gentleman advocating for his wife who was sick and who could not work. He was attempting to get the same type of paperwork signed. He stated that he could not afford the $100 charge and that they are overwhelmed with her medical bills and without that paperwork her job would not be protected. No compassion whatsoever, he was turned away. Fast forward to December. Due to my medical conditions worsening I require accommodations at work for intermittent leave so I was in need of the medical certification again and this time I had to go through Hillside. I paid the $100 and my provider was happy to fill it out and advised she would revise if need be. No problem there, as I said, she is pretty great. Th read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. NEVER able to actually speak with anyone in any office. All calls routed to Indian call center. Will deny you care without requiring lab work regardless of relation to diagnosis. Can't get a simple Rx refill even in emergency without labwork and appointment again, regardless of relevance to Dx. FYI: as a healthcare professional myself of 20+ years I can assure you, labwork including urine tests make huge profits for doctors and labs both usually with a kickback to the physician. I know, as I previously worked for one doing this very thing. I also reported them for fraud. read more

I've spent 100s of dollars here and never seem to get an answer as to what is wrong with my health. They'll run labs when you don't want them and then you get charged some more. There are few doctors here who actually care. The others just try to put you on depression meds . Stomach issues - depression meds Tremor - depression meds Hormone imbalance-depression meds. Please don't go here it's a waste of money and time . Receptionist in the front are as rude as the doctors . The lab people are the only good employees.
