We ran across this winery because we ended up doing the Rockey Top wine trail. This winery was by far the friendliest stop.

Long overdue review. We visit Gatlinburg/Sevierville area annually and always stop here! EVERYONE that works here is awesome! Tastings are great and plentiful and we always leave with several bottles of the Black and Blue! They also always have great sales going on. Southern hospitality at its finest. read more

I'm disappointed with my experience here. My husband and I decided to stop in after our long, long drive up here. These ladies were super unprofessional. We felt extremely rushed and it was nowhere near closing time. One of the ladies was drinking with the customers. The other one was eating our chocolate. Wth? I don't recommend! read more

I can't say enough about this Winery!!!!! I had a friend celebrating her 50th anniversary in Pigeon Forge and wanted to send a nice gift basket, I called this Winery and a few more since I only had a day to get it accomplished. The only one of the group that got in touch with me in a reasonable time was Hillside Winery. Then Hillside Winery put me in touch with Sheila, their rep and she was able to work with me and get just what I had in mind together! Champagne, meat, 2 cheeses, crackers, grapes (Sheila went to the grocery store to get them since it isn't something they keep on hand), chocolates & a couple of wine glasses with their logo on them. Then it turners out my friend gave me the WRONG hotel name! (since there are 7 in this group) We didn't realize this until I found out my friend hadn't gotten it in the morning as I had planned. Long and short of it, I gave Sheila my friends phone number and Sheila delivered it directly into my friends hands! Not only that it cost over $10 LESS than I had allowed!!!! We were very excited to check out a local winery & have some fun doing a wine tasting. Disappointed is an understatement! There was no real order to anything & once we were able to get a spot at the bar, the girl that served us was less than friendly. She was slamming bottles on the counter & told us NOTHING about the wines we were sampling. In addition to the terrible service, the wine was swill. I've found better tasting wines at a grocery store. They also advertise a tour that starts every 30 minutes, this attraction was non-existent. Don't waste your time going here. read more

Would not recommend. Almost immediately upon entering, my girlfriend and myself were hurried to the bar and not allowed to look around before starting a tasting. The tasting itself felt very rushed, there was no seating at all, no water was offered at any point in the tasting, and honestly the wines very unimpressive. Most of them were incredibly sweet and overly flavored to the point it almost tasted artificial. The sangria, no exaggeration, tasted like the smell of nail polish remover. At the end of the tasting we were asked which wine we liked the best, and upon responding a bottle of that wine was sat on the counter and we were then given our check for the tasting with that bottle added, coercing us into the bottle purchase. Not to mention the atmosphere was very stark and un-relaxing. We were in-and-out of the building in about 25 minutes. It felt like a fast food version of a winery experience. We really enjoyed visiting here while we were in town and sampling their wines with their free tasting. There were several that we enjoyed and purchased, but our favorite was definitely the Black and Blue! We stopped in to get a stamp on the local winery tour card (you can earn free wine glasses by going to 3 or 5 of the ones lister), but we were pleasantly surprised to really like their wines! read more

Had a great time on our girls' trip! The tour guide (facility was small...or at least the area we were shown looked small) was funny and the tour didn't go on and on and on... The tasting was entertaining and when there's wine, there's not much to complain about :) Overall, very enjoyable... Everyone we encountered was friendly and engaging. I came from out of state, this was our first place to stop for a wine taste and to buy a bottle of wine. Sadly because i guess i was by myself, no one really tiok any interest in me, there was a larger group of people next to me, and they were very attentive to them. I had 2 samplings of wine. I stood for several minutes and nothing... no one offered me another glass of anything, so i just left, and the heavy set guy behind the counter yells out " thanks for stopping by ", so as i leave a girl sorta stops me as i'm heading for the door, told her my experience to which she said "i'm sorry" and i said "you should be, because you just lost a sale".. i had EVERY intention of spending money in this place, but the chased me to APPLE BARN WINERY where i was excellently taken care of by Victoria... read more

My DH had the nerve to be born on Valentine's Day (heehee), and our anniversary is feb 17 so we headed to Pigeon Forge Tn to celebrate. We stopped in to the local winery the Hillside Winery in Sevierville. We were greeted by some really cool folks that really took there time as we sipped and enjoyed several varieties of wine. Because I love sweet wine, Debbie knew exactly what to recommend as I gleefully resisted gulping the delicious Black and Blue wine. I mean this wine was delicious, great notes of berries. She then gave my hubby various muscadine grape wines. Learned my man knows his muscadine ( learn something new everyday). We walked away with two really nice award winning bottles of wine. Kevin, the manager, heard what a special weekend it was for us, took us on a tour of the winery. He was just awesome, great anecdotes, and just a really nice friendly dude. The team at Hillside just kick started our celebratory weekend with a bang! Don't miss this stop if you are in the area, you won't be disappointed! read more

Hillside Winery has a nice selection of wine. They have bubbly wine, which ranges from dry to sweet and more dry wines than many of the other wineries. This was our last stop on the wine trail and I enjoyed the tasting experience here. The staff was informative about how to taste the wine and were not pushy. We specifically went to Hillside Winery in July 2016 after tasting some of the Black and Blue wine at a friend's house. We liked it so much that we bought several bottles and gave a bottle to a friend at Christmas. She loved it because she could specifically taste the blackberry and blueberry in it and in turn ordered a case of it just recently. Much to her disappointment, the new bottle tasted like a muscadine wine with even a different color. After speaking with Kevin, at Hillside, I was told that every batch of the Black and Blue could taste differently and be a different color based on the fruit they get from the Tennessee farmers. I understand how the fruit could be different, but when you buy a Merlot wine, it does not taste like a Pinot. When you order something online, you expect it to be what you ordered and not entirely different. If you knew it could be an entirely different taste (and color), you could just ask them to send you any case of wine....whatever they had. I feel bad for recommending this company to my friend and will certainly not order from them!!! Just beware of what you may get when you order. Only gave them one star because I had to. read more

Stopped in here just a few minutes before closing - not planned, just saw the billboard from the main road as we were touristing it up nearby - to pick out something new as a gift for a friend. Even though we got here just before close, the staff was very friendly and knew just the right wines to bring out to get me to make a purchase. My sister and I started a road trip yesterday morning to go see our sister in MO. We started our trip in South Carolina and decided that we would stop in Sevierville, TN to try out Hillside Winery. We are so glad that we did. We had Kev as our Sommelier and we loved every minute of it. He was just fabulous. He went above and beyond to create an experience for us as we were on our spontaneous road trip. He laughed and connected with us on so many different levels. We went out of there with 6 bottles of wine and 2 bags of the slushy. :) We really wanted the Hillside Tour Glasses but Kev said we had to earn our doctorate and continue our "Grizwald" trip to 2 more winery's to get those glasses. After saying goodbye to our new friend, off we went. The other two experiences did not come close to our experience at Hillside. The individuals that assisted us at the other two winery's just did not know how to connect with people very well and you could tell was just a job.
