I have eaten at restaurants all over Miami and beyond. High-end restaurants, neighborhood favorites, hotel dining rooms, industry events, openings, and everything in between. In all those years, I have never experienced anything remotely close to what happened here. My friend and I were seated in a booth. We ordered drinks and were preparing to order dinner. At one point, I handed my friend my phone to show him an Instagram video. Not a phone call. Not FaceTime. Not a conversation on speaker. An Instagram video. Before I could even hear the audio myself from across the table, a server who was not even assigned to us appeared and sharply informed us: "No speaker or FaceTime here". The tone was what made it memorable. Not polite. Not professional. Not friendly. The tone you use when somebody has already done something wrong. My friend and I just looked at each other in complete disbelief. We genuinely did not know what had just happened. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What made it even stranger was the environment itself. This was not a quiet dining room where a pin could drop. The restaurant was buzzing with conversations, energy, and noise from every direction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In fact, I could barely hear the audio from the video myself. Yet somehow, in less than a second, we found ourselves being corrected by a server who was not even taking care of our table. At that moment, the meal was over before it started. To be clear, our actual server was kind and professional. When I told her we were leaving, she offered to get a manager. I declined. Some experiences are so bizarre that you decide to leave. I paid roughly eleven dollars for a Coke and a sparkling water and walked out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What makes this whole situation such a shame is that the restaurant itself is beautiful. The atmosphere is attractive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have also heard good things about the food. We were fully prepared to stay, order dinner, and enjoy the evening. Instead, one unnecessary interaction completely changed the experience. A restaurant can have whatever policies it wants. That is not the issue. The issue is how those policies are enforced and how guests are made to feel in the process. Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant dinner became one of the strangest and most off-putting restaurant experiences I have ever had. And yes, when friends, followers, or anyone asks about Hillstone, this will be the story I remember telling.

This restaurant is part of Houston restaurants and it has the same type of food but some things are different. The food was amazing. I got the chicken with wild rice. The wild rice was delicious. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice atmosphere surrounded by exclusive stores.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant is small so your wait time can be 2 hours long. If you make reservations online you have a better chance so you won't have to wait long.

As a big fan of Houston's and hillstone I'm always excited to dine at one of their many locations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bal harbour location is one of my favorites. Easy parking, quiet and great food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Last time I dined there I had the shrimp Louie salad and a side of fries. Both items were delicious and I left satisfied. The only thing I would like to see is the heavenly brownie Sundaye added to the menu. That would make my life complete!

This upscale chain restaurant located in the Bal Harbor mall in Miami offers classic American cuisine with fresh seasonal ingredients. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is modern, open air and comfortable with a view of palm trees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the Shrimp Louie Salad $28 and it was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient.

The Food at Hillstone is Amazing. I Love the Chicken Kale Salad. And the Large Shrimp Cocktail. The Dessert was Awesome, Vanilla Ice Cream and Hot fudge Brownie . Absolutely, One of my Favorite Restaurants in Bal Harbour.

Not too much to say here. My friends were super excited to go to Hillstone as they go regularly where they live in Houston. We found out that this location is considered a "boutique" location. The menu was different and even tho there is a full bar, you could pretty much only get what was on the menu. I learned that by ordering an espresso martini. Our server said that no one could make it good so they scrapped it from the menu. Her words. Also, several menu items that we ordered from the menu were not available. Had it not been such a far ride, we would have elected to go elsewhere. I settled on the salmon which was just ok. I probably wouldn't run to get back here at all.

We always eat here when in South Florida- we are a big fan of the Hillstone restaurant group. This location is fun especially if you like to watch the wealthy Miami patrons- the cars below in the valet parking are amazing! The food at the Hillstone restaurants is always good! The menu doesn't really vary. The prime rib sandwich is the best sandwich ever and they do it perfectly! The sushi is also a favorite. The staff is efficient and friendly- always good and friendly. I'd recommend this place anytime you want a nice, good and relaxing meal.

Had no idea there was a millstone at the bal harbor shops! I was a big fan of the one in the gables, so we decided to eat here. Very clean inside, we didn't have a reservation, they told us there would be a 20 minute wait but they took us before. They may have been understaffed, because there were open tables and they weren't sitting us. we had to point out the empty table to the hostess. that part was annoying. but the food was delicious and made up for it! our waitress was very kind. she helped answer all our questions and helped us select our meal. In the end we ordered: cashew and kale salad- crunchy, refreshing, asian tasting salad with cashew, onion, kale and a delicious dressing shrimp and coconut sushi roll- huge slices but filled with big shrimp and a wave of coconut taste hits you at the last second with all the coconut flakes. get a side of their spicy mayo to dip Ding's crispy chicken sandwich- i have been waiting to try this! the chicken was so juicy, not too oily. paired with a delicious slaw, tomato, cheese and a buttery soft brioche bun. it was hugeeee (three big pieces). came with shoestring fries that were just okay.

Would have given 5 starts as their food is always so delicious, but tonight's service was pretty disappointing. Took my friend who is a REGULAR of this restaurant and many know him by name there It was his birthday and the waitress only brought him a tiny bowl with whipped cream and a candle sticking out of it It was kinda of insulting that they couldn't offer him a piece of key lime pie considering he is a regular there In addition, service was below standard as we had to ask for water a few times, should have been given to us upfront and refilled on occassion But overall Hillstone is a great restaurant, love the ribs, kale salad, cream corn and coconut shrimp sushi rolls

We had dinner reservations last evening at Hillstone at Bal Harbor. We did early shopping and were hungry. We drove up to the valet service rather than spending time looking for a parking spot in the garage on a busy Saturday. The ambiance is upscale casual in a modern glass and wood decor on the second floor. I liked the glass elevator overlooking the Bal Harbor mall with the waterfalls and foliage. We looked at the menu but didn't see very much that appealed to us. It seemed to be more sushi and fish items. Near the bottom of the menu, we saw French Dip Au Jus with fries, and we both ordered it. It was good but not outstanding. Our server was Joseph, and he was friendly and attentive. Our water glasses were not kept full, and we had to ask for water refills. The prices were high but the quality didn't match. Hillstone is part of the Houston restaurant chain, and some of their food items are similar. We always enjoy Houston's. This was our first time at a Hillstone restaurant. Would we come back? Not sure.

Food is outrageous…read more Recommend: oysters Rockefeller, bolognese pasta, truffle pasta, beef Wellington, whipped potatoes (I could have had the entire thing it was so amazing) and broccolini. Tip: pastas are small. Almost half portions. We ordered a few and split them family style (ordered 3 for 6 people and had to order more). Beef Wellington - - while I thought it was weird to order, SO glad we did. It was so tender and cooked perfect. They also cut it for you so you don't need to worry about it! Ambiance is amazing but you NEED reservations. Also need to make sure you are either on time or if you are at the bar next door, you check in if you are running behind.

The menu consists of well known dishes but there are no surprises - everything is cooked well and tasty but not memorable. The best dish is the Ceasar's salad which is prepared table side, using raw eggs (!) and is a must-order simply for the show. Everything seemed to order it. The crab cakes were very good - crispy crust and big chunks of crab with a spicy mayo on the side - worth it. Lumache Alla Vodka was also good, with the pasta cooked just right and a nice spicy kick to the sauce. The almonds on the European Sea Bass made the fish - toasted and slightly caramelized paired with a very good sea bass. Get it if you are in the mood. The oysters Rockefeller are simply ok but not worth reordering. The chocolate layer cake was also very good but not extraordinary and typically of any good pastry shop's version. Finally the service is what you would expect of a Michelin Star, which was precise and well executed although our waiter has a pretty bland personality compared to the guy serving the table next to us.

The seared salmon sushi was incredibly fresh, the Chicken Katsu Carbonara Udon was rich and flavorful, and the steak with ponzu sauce was easily the standout of the night. First when you walk in you are offered a complimentary glass of champagne. This is such a nice touch; makes you feel special and just puts you in a good mood. Our server was very friendly and she made sure to ask about allergies and gave us tips on the menu and pointed out when a dish was spicy. I think this is very considerate. The food was delicious. The miso mushrooms were so tasty. My family had the wings and while spicy they said they were very good. Next for the main course, the fajitas were so delicious. The tortillas were baked perfectly, all the sides were delicious and there was definitely a good portion size. The burger we have as before so we knew it would be good and that sis not disappoint. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tasty. On both the burger and the steak, fries were amazing . Portion sizes for main courses were good, big enough to be full after. For dessert, we were very happy. I would say everyone loves their desserts individually but we all agreed that the vanilla ice cream was the best! Not sure if they make this in house but I was so good. My apple pie was good and very big I could not eat it by myself . All in all , Joey aventura is a great place to celebrate with family and friends or just enjoy a quality meal!.
