I changed my mind a couple times during the design process, and Jim was more than willing to accommodate my re-designs. This is the most dishonest business I have ever dealt with. We had a new home under contract in Placitas. Our builder was using Hilltop so we had no choice in the matter. We wanted additional landscaping added to the typical builder's package. Hilltop requested a save the date deposit of 10000 dollars. We had not signed off on the plans, nothing. The builder did not come through with the quality of house we were paying for. We both agreed to end the purchase contract. Everyone involved refunded our deposits and earnest money except Hilltop. Mr. Forester feels that somebody owes him money so he kept our deposit knowing we had no right to landscape until we owned the home. We thankfully put the deposit on a credit card. Their attorneys and ours should be able to handle this. I just wanted to let people know the trouble you can get into trusting these people. read more

Had a quote from the owner, told he would have no problem meeting our timeline, have been trying to communicate with this business for two weeks, left 2 voice mails, 3 emails, and 6 calls with promises they will return a call. One employee states they will pass info to another and they will call on Monday. I call Tuesday and speak to this person who our info was passed to but they know nothing about it, will talk to owner and he will call us we are told. Haha! To avoid communication with a customer is piss poor business! Our money is better spent elsewhere! read more

We used them last summer to re do our pool area and front yard landscaping. They did a good job, but it took them forever to get it completed. Around 6 weeks or more. Hardscape work was done well and looked great. Actual plants were not that great. We noticed that we didn't get the plants that were called for on the original landscape plan. We asked them to return and do our back yard but they never responded so we selected another firm for the backyard read more

Hilltop is terrific. They refurbished my sprinkler system, pruned my tree perfectly and planted bushes. I do not know what I would do without them. I am a very senior citizen and I love walking around the outside of my house because of the good care they have given it. Called the office to get an estimate about replacing the grass in out front yard with sod. Gave my address and phone number and was told that someone would call me back soon so they can give me an estimate. I NEVER recieved a call back so I gave up on them and went with another landscaper. They dont seem to want or need your business so look elsewhere. read more

We recently bought a house and needed the back yard landscaped. We decided to use The Hilltop since they do the front yards for the builder and because EVERYONE we talked to said that they are the best in town. Jim Forrester came out to look at the yard (at that point only dirt) and to talk to us about what we wanted. We gave him our list of "wants" but did not give him a specific budget to work with because we wanted to see what he came up with. After reviewing Jim's initial design (which was not shockingly high but a little above our budget), we met with him again and reached an agreement on something more within our budget. We could not be happier with the final product. The attention to detail in the design and the quality of workmanship by the installers is impressive. I would recommend The Hilltop to anyone with a landscaping project. read more

They were recommended to me by my builder for landscaping the backyard of my new house. They were extremely unprofessional. They absolutely did not pay any attention to the grade of my backyard which resulted in water standing along the building. They came back, dug up my new lawn and placed a drain whose outlet they buried in the earth with no place for it to drain which resulted in my lawn being water logged. I have never experienced this level of negligence and stupidity. Please make sure you are present all the time if your hire their services. read more

I selected Hilltop to landscape both the front and backyard after a new house construction. The effort included building retaining walls, planters, laying flagstone, installing a dual zone irrigation system, and planting more than 40 plants. The whole landscaping job took about 7 days to complete with 4-6 installers. Their work was meticulous and did an excellent job laying down the moss rock retaining walls and planters. They did not rush through the job and did an excellent clean up afterwards. A few months later, some plants died and they came out right away to replace them under warranty. read more

We had a great experience with Hilltop. Doug Bishop gave us a very detailed estimate and worked with us when changes were required. The work crews were friendly and professional and Jesus, the crew chief, was easy to work with. The crew left the work site clean each day and the finished product - a complete front yard xeric landscape -- is outstanding.
