Was in the search for a simple Caesar salad, which is what drew me in here. I'll start by saying the service was so so nice, almost too nice. So overall super pleasant experience. Went with the chicken Caesar salad, which was just meh. The chicken wasn't strips but rather pressed slices, which was strange. Also there was an underwhelming amount of croutons and maybe no cheese that I can remember. The dressing was fine-pretty standard. Decently priced for a chicken Caesar salad but wouldn't go back here again for this. If you're in the area wanting a quick drink it's a fair option, though. read more

I was here with a large group for a 21st bday bar crawl. We took up a lot of space outside but the server was super kind and patient with our group (we were respectful, promise!) She checked on us frequently and our glasses were never empty. A couple of us got food and it was decent (including a cheesesteak that seemed to be pleasing). But I had the Buffalo chicken tots and they were almost inedible (I can't believe I'm saying this). The tots were few and the blue cheese was the main dish. Nice neighborhood pub with a good drink selection. Menu had lots of standard pub food and everything hits the spot. Many TVs behind the bar and elsewhere to watch sports and such. Great to sit at the bar or a table, or even outdoor seating as well. Have been twice and both times the burgers were cooked nicely, and good quality toppings on em. Was in the area and stumbled across this tavern. There are two entrances to the tavern and you seat your self. The service is decent and they check in on you pretty frequently. I had the Parmesan garlic fries and the Buffalo wings: the fries were on the greasier. The Buffalo wings were delicious. You get 10 wings and they are all fried and seasoned properly. Came to happy hour drinks with a friend SUPER hungry and knew a burger and fries would be necessary! Hilltown is a great neighborhood bar with no nonsense bartenders and a good pub-style menu. From fried favorites to flights and a great beer list of local favorites, it is easy to see how easy it would be to become a regular here. The Hilltown burger was the salty, savory end of day pick me up that I needed. Covered in caramelized onions and cooked to perfection, I love that it was served in a cute Irish "newspaper" and service was speedy. We went here for the Chelsea Liverpool game. The place was open early for the game and also served breakfast. We really enjoyed the breakfast. The portions were large, seasoned well and good taste overall. We got the loaded tots and the Hilltown omelette. We also got the Irish coffee and mimosa which were very good! There was a small issue in the beginning where we couldn't find someone so we could've a seat outside but that was resolved fast. The food and services were the best. We visited Hilltown a whim after going to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and we weren't disappointed. I have a toddler and I would say this place is not for kids that small, but that kids Mac and cheese was delicious. My kid crushed it and I'm not going to lie I had a taste of it and it was so good. It was real Mac and cheese! It came with fries and here is where the only food problem came in. The fries were raw. Like they touched grease for a second to brown and got taken out. The middle wasn't even remotely cooked. I also had fries as I had fish n chips, which were also raw. The fish however was cooked perfectly and quite frankly was delicious. My husband got the Sheppard pie and again no complaint just tender beef and perfect mashed potatoes and gravy. But the best thing I had was the Irish lemonade!! Yall go get a couple of these!!! I came here recently for lunch and ordered a Caesar salad. It took about 75 minutes to get because they said they were low on workers. I didn't have anywhere to be so I was cool with waiting. When my caesar salad finally arrived to my table it was a bowl of romaine with a cup ranch dressing. The server told me they didn't have time to make caesar dressing so they gave me ranch instead. So in the 75 minutes I waited they also apparently didn't have time to come tell me they were bringing me a caesar without caesar dressing. It was so awful. I just didn't want to wait 75 more minutes for something else so I didn't send it back. But I really didn't eat it either. I just won't ever go back after this experience. read more

I've been here a few times, often times to just drink. It's an ideal place for drinking and hangout at the bar. It can get a bit loud though inside. They do have outdoor space. Service is good. Food is limited and just alright. I do like the many options for fries. I'll be back to try other things on the menu, but it is not favorite in the neighborhood. read more

Whoever the manager is is dishonest. I've tried several times to make a reservation for a table & he said it's first come first serve. This is untrue as we have gone in October and November and seen at least 3 tables with a "reserved" sign on them. Our party is usually no more than 3-4 people for Thursday trivia. The first time we saw the signs, we assumed that maybe the person on the phone and myself had a misunderstand of what I was asking. When I called today to inquire about a reservation & noted that we have seen the reserved signs during trivia night, the man made a poor excuse that they only hold the table for a group that comes all the time at 1pm. He was rude and kept cutting me off after I tried to correct him that I was speaking about trivia night not an afternoon reservation. The beers never came out and our child's dinner came out with two chicken fingers. We paid $8 for two chicken fingers - what a ripoff.
