They keep their appointment times and there is hardly any wait time (big plus for me, cause I can't wait to get it over with :) Linda is very helpful in communicating with your insurance and helping you plan out your dental care and budget. I walked in without pain, walked out in excruciating pain. I haven't been the same ever since. First off I visited this office because I had irritation on my top left quadrant. Dr. Meier reccomended a deep cleaning or a root plaining. I agreed to have the treatment done. After the treatment the irritation was gone. I felt really good about this office. Note that there were no cavities detected. Upon my return a few months later for a routine cleaning, I was treated by a dental hygienist that was real rough on me. In fact she scraped my teeth so hard that I knew something was wrong. I've had many routine cleanings done in my life and non have been this painful. At the very endof the treatment she seemed to fumble her cleaning tool the wrong way and I screamed in pain. They did an Xray and it now appears that I have a cavity exactly where she fumbled her tool. As I had stated before, I walked in feeling fine, and walked out in serious pain that hasn't subsided but has only intensified ever since. Additionally not only do I have pain in the affected area, but I have gained pain in my lower jaw where I've never experienced pain before in my life. And this pain began after my last visit with the dental hygienist at this office. To add insult to injury, after I made my complaint about my pain, this office had the audacity to send me a "Dear John" letter firing me as a patient and refusing to rectify the issue. Also note: This office follows their patients on Instagram publicy which seems a bit intrusive. I don't want my Dentist knowing about my personal life, opinions, friends, religious and or political beliefs etc, because this knowledge can negatively affect the Doctor/Patient relationship and the quality of care received. read more

While doing an in office tooth extraction under local anesthesia (he doesn't have general anesthesia), he broke off most of the adjoining tooth. His extraction was very traumatic and resulted in severe pain and swelling. The temporary prosthesis he gave me didn't fit. It's been over a year now and I am still struggling with the aftermath of that surgery. I have gone to other dentists for repair of the damage, and have just had the root of the broken off tooth removed and a implant placed. Replacing the tooth he broke off as well as the original broken tooth has cost me close to $10,000 and has been an ongoing nightmare for more than a year. The dental board determined he did not have to pay me any damages, but I sure would not recommend anyone go to this dentist. read more

Dr Greg L Meier DDS Hillview Dental Care stands definitely apart from all the dentists my family has ever had--which is why we've been seeing him for over 10 years now. First and foremost, he is an honest dentist. No jokes--this a serious issue for us. Our previous dentist, also in Ventura, had a remarkably painless and very pleasing manner--but it was like that was mainly to get his next boat payment off of us! Dr. Greg will tell it like it is--yes his work can hurt a bit after he finishes, but that's to get the job done properly and permanently. And no, the hurt does not last more than a few hours--a day or two for major work. But there is the benefit, which lasts for years. Which is what you want. One time, he advised me to get some surgery done soon (for a bad wisdom tooth that could have impacted my optic nerve)--and I went to a surgeon and got it done. I avoided serious trouble down the road, as a result. And no, Dr. Greg did not make any money off of me in the process. In terms of his actual work--many root canals, fillings, cleanings (which he has done himself) and other work--there is no question that the quality is excellent. You are cured, even healed, and that problem isn't there any longer. The best part is his approach to preventive treatment--he will tell you ahead of time what problems he foresees, and the treatment needed, and will leave it to you to go ahead (or not). All in all, this is the best dentist we've had in decades. He is educated and intelligent, which may put off those who are not. But that works for those who understand that a doctor is more than say, a flight attendant or an entertainer. He is there to get our health issues fixed right. Linda is a most competent office manager--who advises us accurately on insurance issues. Lisa is unfailingly helpful as a dental assistant, and is always able to make us feel comfortable. No, Dr. Meier is not the next best thing to a fine IPA and burger, but he is the one person who enables us to do that IPA and burger without regret. Hello today I had two implants put in at Greg Meier DDS. As soon so I walked into the office the secretary greeted me with a hello Jake glad too see you . I was thin sat down in The dentist chair. They asked if had any questions. And then describe The procedure step-by-step. I would say the operation took about 30 minutes to an hour. I was out And done with the operation before I knew it. everyone in the office was very friendly and happy to answer any questions. Can't wait for my next visit. What I like about this place is they keep you in the loop with your own care. They make sure you know what and why. I feel like I can trust Dr. Meier. You can tell he keeps up-to-date with current medical treatments and diagnostics, too. Also he is extremely careful about the local anesthetic and always makes sure I'm very numb prior to anything painful. Those are the most important reasons to me, but the staff is also very friendly, always remember my name and are familiar with my case when I come in. I have only had one visit, for a cleaning and check up, and was very satisfied. The waiting room is pleasant but I did not have to wait, the hygienist and dentist were courteous and professional. I was especially impressed with the digital X-rays which the dentist explained to me and I appreciate understanding what dental needs to be done and why. I had a visit for my dental check up. As usual it is a charming experience to visit with Dr. Mier, Linda and Lisa. At the entrance Linda makes sure that all the protocols regarding Covid is performed properly. I started getting my dental work done here about a year ago and the experience has been great so far. Every time I go in there is almost no wait and I'm usually in a chair within 5 minutes. Once the cleaning portion is done it's usually again less than 5 minutes before the dentist is there to go through the finishing touches and let me know if any issues exist. They also seem to have a flexible enough schedule so that if you're scheduling your appointments far enough in advance then you can probably get the before work, lunch, or after work appointment that works best with your schedule. read more

Dr. Meier is the best! Every time I go I barely sit down in the waiting room before I get called back. I really like all the staff in his office and I feel I can trust him 100%. He is straight to the point and a truly nice man. I have had two crowns replaced and a cleaning and everything was done oerfectly. My visit at Hillview Dental with Dr. Meier was the best experience for me. His front office manager Linda was very polite, helpful, knowledgeable and quite lovely of a person. Dr. Meier's Assistant Lisa was very friendly, well informed and made me feel Very comfortable. His Hygienist Jessica was super fun, intelligent and kind. Next time I will have to meet their other Hygienist. I found the staff worked together under Dr. Meier's guidance and direction very well as a team. I was so happy to find that their office offers ortho, laser treatment for cleanings and any other problem areas and implant . I was quite happy with Dr. Meier's great chairside manner and professional, skilled and excellent treatment. They all made me feel comfortable even with some of my fears and dental issues. I would not recommend this dentist; he is super condescending and belittling. When I arrived at the office, the receptionist greeted me and handed me the new patient paperwork. A patient that was in the back came up front to finish up with her visit. The dentist began fussing at her for not flossing her teeth daily (most people dont, leave the poor girl alone). He kept belittling her about it, which is completely unprofessional to do in the waiting room, especially with other patients in there. A few minutes later I was taken to the back by the hygienist. She seemed super sweet and friendly. The dentist came back before anything started and he instantly reminded me of how the first impression I have of him is him telling another patient they needed to floss more often and tried to make a joke out if it. Once again, he was oblivious to the fact he completely lacked professionalism. Then as I spoke to why I was there, he saw that my one tooth was slightly crooked (I was in a car accident when I was 18 and jammed it causing it to turn inwards...maybe 10-15%. It has never been an issue in the past 15 yrs.). He instantly starts pressuring me to get braces. I repeatedly told him Im not interested and was getting annoyed he kept pushing the issue. He then looked at my teeth, declared I had TMJ or would get in it the near future (despite never having any signs or symptoms) and once again declared I needed braces and need to schedule them immediately. Once again, I refused. Im 33, been going to the dentist regularly, and not once did any of the other dentists ever say I needed braces, nor did any other dentist ever make a deal of my one slightly crooked tooth. When the dentist left, I asked the hygienist if she could just clean my teeth, I was not interested in having the dentist look at my teeth again (afterall, I took off of work but didnt trust him at all). She said she would have to check with him. He came back and continued to belittle me. He asked me why I didnt find his services acceptable, I tried to explain to him that how he was talking to me, and how he treated the other patient in front of me was unprofessional. He kept saying how he was the best and that I was offended because I needed braces but wouldnt admit to it. I asked if he could leave so she could clean my teeth, but he would not let up and continued to degrade me. He wouldnt stop until I left. I would not let my worst enemy come here. Annoying sidebars, they send you reminder texts (which in general, I greatly appreciate) but they include pictures on their reception in various poises. Honestly, just sending the time of the appointment and address is sufficient, you dont need to send pictures of your receptionist. That is a bit creepy. read more

New to Ventura, I had tried a couple of dentists here hoping to find one as personable, knowledgeable, professional and, well, just plain fabulous, as mine of 30 years in San Francisco. It wasn't happening. I finally turned to my neighborhood network at Nextdoor.com asking for recommendations and was referred to Dr. Meier. I could not be more pleased! I've found a new 'dental home' in Ventura at last. Everyone in the office is extremely friendly, courteous, concerned and professional. I never wait, and am always whisked right in almost as soon as I enter! Beyond this, it's the very reasonable fees (less than the others I saw) and the time and attention and good listening!, given to my personal needs and concerns, that make such a big difference. I prefer a 4 times a year cleaning regimen, plus other procedures such as straightening and bleaching, etc., so I'm in the office quite a lot. It's consistently excellent, and everyone so pleasant, that I actually look forward to visiting often! (Yes,it's that good.) No, I'm not weird. ;-) read more

You are lucky if you just happen upon a really good dentist, not one who is just competent and up-to-date but one that you can relate to, talk to, joke with and feel confident that you have a friend in the dentistry profession. I was looking for a new dentist because I changed jobs and lost the insurance plan I had so I chose Dr. Meier's office arbitrarily due to it's nearby location and inquired about rates for their service. Not having dental insurance, the rates would have been much higher than I had been paying when I had the insurance and I asked what insurance plans they accepted. Dr. Meier's beautiful wife, Linda, is the receptionist who led me to an affordable dental plan that seemed to work for both of us. For the next several years I have very pleased with the dentistry received, the ambiance of the three-chair office, the hygienists, and especially Dr. Meier and Linda and the beautiful and tranquil view out the window at the "2-trees" on the hills directly in front of all chairs. Dr. Meier (Greg) has been my family's dentist for years. We discovered him back in the mid 2000s via a recommendation from our dentist at the time (we needed to find a new dentist since we were moving). Ever since that first visit, there's been no reason to go to anybody else. The environment here is very welcoming. Everybody carries a smile and after a few visits, they really start to get to know you. Greg often asks about my daughter, and I know all about his family. And of course, apart from the friendly faces, what this office offers is great dental work. I'm lucky because I typically just have to go in for routine cleanings and check-ups but when I need to whiten my teeth or when my daughter was thinking about getting her teeth straightened, Greg and his staff made the processes completely unfussy and painless.
