Had a good time in Chicago and the people at the HGI made it much more enjoyable! Nariyah was a fantastic Host! The room was clean and the city view was amazing. Close to everything downtown and close enough to public transportation.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Central Loop while working at McCormick Center. Large, spacious room in what seemed to be an old restored industrial building. Lots of brick and large windows, even a proper living room. Walking distance to a number of good restaurants and a small grocery market for supplies. Enjoyed myself, and would stay again.

The downtown location is convenient to many things, if you can survive the traffic. The Hilton website doesn't elaborate on how parking is handled here, which created tremendous stress for us. After circling the block a few times, my husband parked long enough to go inside and get advice from the desk. The hotel entrance faces Willis Tower, and it turns out the parking garage is slightly further north and also faces the tower. The policy, as of April 2024, is that arriving guests enter the garage, get a receipt, then park, bringing the receipt inside to present to the front desk; the desk then texts a QR code that says that the parking fee is paid (included with the hotel fees). When we exited the next day, the code worked without issue. The hotel is weird because it has rooms on certain floors and other hotels run other floors. There's a restaurant and bar in the bottom floor. There are many other restaurants in the immediate area, including a food court inside Willis Tower. There are also nearby convenience stores like Circle K. Our room on the 14th floor faced another building close by. While there was no grand view, our room was wonderfully quiet. No road noise, and no corridor noise, either; old buildings can have a major advantage over new ones in that way. The clicking of the air conditioner was the only disturbing sound. The room was small but not as bad as some on big cities. The fridge is a mini that doesn't include a freezer, but I put our ice packs at the very back and managed to get some of them frozen. There was a coffee pot and a tiny microwave above the fridge. The bathroom has a barn door closure. The toilet is suspended from the wall and has a panel that must be pressed to flush the unit, but the low flow is ineffective for even tissue paper. The shower is easy to function. The shower wall has large pumps for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, a method I much prefer to the tiny bottles that some hotels still use. There was a master light switch by the entrance door that was frustrating for my tired mind, because I couldn't get other lights to turn on until I found that switch. The hotel was okay overall, but the experience would've been much better from the start if their parking policy was clearly stated.

Very convenient location in the central loop of Chicago. Highly recommended for those having business trip in the area. Staff are super friendly and professional. They make your bed and clean up daily without you needing to request for it--unlike other hotels in the area. This is definitely my favorite hotel in Chicago. Great for the price too!

This is the image of the room I booked 3 weeks in advance.

My room was misrepresented with images of a city view. Front desk staff told me this was standard marketing imagery. Rooms listed online as available with views were going for more than $100 less than my booked price. When asked what I wanted to be satisfied (one of the rooms for less with a view) I was told they couldn't do that.

I'm giving it 4 starts for mainly it's location. It's on the loop and it's 5 minute walk from the Union Station. L stations are in walkable distance, with Quincy being a block over. Lots of restaurants, coffee shots and next to Willis Tower. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were modern, clean and more importantly the bed was comfortable. Check-in was quick and easy, however if you are Hilton elite member, there's no separate checking section. I requested early checked in, so had no issues, was able to check-in in less than few minutes, got my key and off I went. Now, why I couldn't give 5 stars. 1. Room - found leftover food containers in the mini fridge. Seems like the housekeeping did not clean the fridge out. I get that we are humans, but please make sure it's checked when the room is cleaned! 2. Room - the closet space to hang up your stuff is very small and limited and it doesn't help that they have the iron board in there as well. The jacket was all I could fit. 3. Price for breakfast - $21 for buffet for Sausage, bacon, potatoes, eggs, toast, oat meal, fruits and drinks... not worth the $21(+tax, +tip) for what they offered. Marriott Fairfield Inn offers the same items for free. The location will win you over.

Amazingly comfortable room with a living room space, a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge, and a very comfortable bed. Our room also had a nice view of the city, including the Willis Tower. Nice breakfast options and a great rooftop bar. Honestly, my only complaint is that we were told that there was a $10 per person per day credit for any food or drinks in the hotel, only to find out that it did NOT include the lobby pantry area, so we were surprised with an unexpected $18 charge for bottled waters after we checked out. If not for that, our stay would have been absolutely perfect.

$465 held for a 2 night stay.

Aesthetics and location were 5 stars for this property. My room was spotless, actually the entire place was clean and inviting. It's in a wonderful location with nearby access to the L and easy pickup/drop off for ride shares. My issues were with the staff, they need an attitude adjustment. Also Hilton doesn't seem to have a clear deposit policy and that needs to be addressed. While in line to check in I overheard the clerk tell the family checking in in front of me they would be holding $50 per night for incidentals. However when I checked in $390 was held even though I was only staying for 2 nights. I thought that was excessive so I searched online trying to find their policy in writing but couldn't find anything so I called the front desk. The employee who answered was not the clerk who checked in me. I first asked how much they hold for incidental and was told $100 per night (even though I overheard another employee say $50 per night before). Either way, $390 was still more than that. The clerk confirmed that was not the right amount to be held, apologized and released the hold all together. The following day I couldn't access my room. The front desk explains the key was disabled because they don't have a credit card on file for incidentals. I explained what happened the day before and he said the other employee should not have released the hold and he would need to add it back at $150 per night but would only do $75 as a concession. Keep in mind the $390 was still being held from the night before because it take a few days for the hold to release. So in total $465 was being held for a two night stay. I understand the concept of holds for incidentals and I'm fine with paying them no matter how much they are. But the amount should be clear across the board. I heard $50 per night, $100 per night and $150 per night. Which is it and why was I charged more? Employees shouldn't be arbitrarily deciding how much to hold.

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

While searching hilton.com for a hotel to stay at on the day of my birthday, Hampton Inn Majestic…read moreChicago Theatre District was the first to pop-up within Chicago. I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

Hampton Inn majestic will let you relive the Chicago fire!!!…read more Was not a fan of their elevators since they kept jumping from levels 6 and 7 and would randomly stop without being called. The last Hampton inn I got stuck in the elavator and had an off experience with getting help, so I chose to use the stairs. Upon using the stairs we were met with SEVERAL linen boxes blocking our only exit. They were all in different directions and could not be easily rolled out, especially when we were blocked behind them. Instead we had to parkour over it to escape. There was a valet driver sitting at the front and ignored us after I asked for help and continued to say she's just valet she can't do anything. These bins were there for well over an acceptable time, blocking the only stairs and fire safety exit but also for people that didn't enjoy their sketchy elevators. And again, pallets were there days later also blocking the ONLY emergency exit and stairwell exit. Completely unacceptable in a normal city let alone one with history of building fires. Exits should not be blocked and it's clear the building uses this space for "storage" often. Before the fire situation even happened, their breakfast situation was insane. Our first morning was on a Monday. Their service is until 10 am and around 9am we headed down for some fuel. By that time, the dining room was packed, the tiny buffet room was empty of food but packed with people who were waiting for tables, chairs and all of the food to be restocked. One woman was trying to run the whole operation while two men just stood behind the concierge desk and watched the shit show of breakfast service happen in front of them. Someone should have helped her get breakfast together. Even if it wasn't their job, in hospitality, their job as hotel manger or anyone who works in the hotel is to make sure the guest have a pleasant stay, not to look pretty sitting in front of the Hampton inn welcome to Chicago sign. Overall unorganized and not something nice to look at when you first walk into a hotel lobby, chaos. You would think the grievances would stop there. However we were then denied the benefits that we get as gold Hilton members. Previously at hiltons and Hilton branches we have been offered two bottles of water per room per day. Most of the time they would be offered upon check in (which they did not) and given daily throughout our stay. This time the concierge allowed my mom just to go grab them out of the fridge. The next day we did the same and the concierge Robyn gave me immediate backlash even after I said we were previously allowed to take them. She repeatedly said I was wrong and gave no hospitality to hear my side of the story. I didn't want to cause a scene and returned my water. She then slammed them onto our table as I was eating breakfast with my family. Definitely could have been better ways for her to deal with the problem and I did not appreciate the hostility coming from the concierge at 9 am. We were already all crammed at a small table because there are no seating arrangements easily accessible for families or even enough seats in the dining room. One star because housekeeping did great and my room was clean and refreshed when necessary (and because zero is not an option) Otherwise I would hope I never have to stay here again.

The staff were somewhat friendly until different things started to come up... 1st issue: Friday night the elevators completely stopped working. Big problem due to having a small infant and needing to get the stroller down. We were staying on the 10th floor. But an even bigger problem was that we started to notice floods of people come on our floor and notify us that there was not an exit even via the stairs!!!! My husband got on the phone with the front desk and the reply was "you are just going to have to wait for the elevator." This was completely unacceptable and UNSAFE- what if there was a fire? What if something dangerous was happening and we couldn't get out of the building? This itself would have landed this hotel at a 1-2 rating. The elevator issue didn't fill resolve itself for our whole stay- only 2/3 were in service and they took 5-10 minutes to show up each time. Seriously inconvenient. 2nd issue: they put one of our rooms (we had 3 groups) literally next to the pool. Kids were screaming their heads off beginning at 6:30am and it would carry on until 10pm. When SIL called down to the front desk she was told "sorry that's just how it is and it should quiet down soon." Again, completely unacceptable. We had young children and infants who needed to nap and go to bed early. 3rd issue: we asked for a late check out since our flight was later and we needed to get our baby to take a nap- after all of these issues they said they would extend it to 1:00, which was nice. We did then ask if it could be extended another hour and we were told it would cost $25. Fine... what was not fine was when there was banging on our door and someone walked in at 1:25pm to clean the room. It woke up our baby and completely defeated the purpose of us extending our late check out and paying the extra $25. 4th issue: apparently they don't clean the rooms unless you are staying for 3 or more nights? We didn't know about this and assumed we would get new towels since there is a sign in the bathroom saying "hang towels to reuse" or "if you would like new ones, place them on the floor". We needed new towels so we followed what it said and then were told our rooms wouldn't be cleaned or even checked to see if we needed new towels. Good things I will say: - very convenient area - provided a pack n play - Starbucks in the hotel - hotel room was clean Would have love for this stay to have been better since the Marriott is well known and usually a great place to stay.... but the lack of customer service makes it hard to want to book another room at a Marriott hotel.
