I stayed here as I was passing through town and couldn't be happier with my stay for the night. From the time I called to confirm they had a room available to accommodate a very large dog, to my arrival 10 minutes after my call, Pamela at the front desk was amazing. Super friendly and enthusiastic! After getting in to my very clean room, I headed to the bar in the lobby to order some dinner. This was the 1st time my dog had ever been in a hotel and I didn't want to leave her in the room alone. The bartender/waitress was super friendly and accommodating when I asked if it was ok if my dog waited at the table with me. She even brought over a bowl of water for her! The burgers were delicious, even though the dog ate hers and 1/2 of mine, it was enjoyed! Check out was simple and I will definitely stay here again the next time I drive through Amarillo! read more

hotel Desk were very polite and offered assurance. However the manager was rude and very unprofessional towards my question about why my reservation was reserved as a handicap room. The manager did not offer any cooperative assistance. She simply stated that I reserved a regular room and then hung up the phone. Very dissatified with the room as shower did not work properly. Manager does not reflect a positive appreciation for her customers. Sadly Hilton Corporation was not much assistance as well. I won't be staying at this Hilton Location any time soon. The hotel lobby is clean and the staff is very polite. This must be an older hotel as the bathrooms need updating, flooring and molding are bad the toilet is seriously low. The one elevator that was working makes a loud growling noise as you approach first floor. You wonder if you'll make it. read more

I have stayed at many Hilton properties over the years including Hilton Garden Inn properties. This property located in Amarillo has fallen way out of standard with what anyone would expect from Hilton. First was the room. It was in need of some renovation from someone who actually knows what they are doing. The bathroom was in need of repairs. The pillows on the bed were not standard size pillows... they were accent pillows, trying to sleep was difficult. I had inquired about regular pillows but was told they had none. The hotel has a coin laundry. We had laundry to do. We asked the front desk that evening for laundry soap. They stated that they had it with the other sundries. When I went to look, there was none. When I asked the front desk, they stated that if it was out that they did not have anymore for sale. The next day, I asked a different front desk staff about the laundry soap and they stated the same thing in regard to it being out with the other sundries. When I stated that there was none, they went to the back office and found some... Moral of story here was the initial staff member couldn't be bothered to look in the back after running out... poor customer service. The laundry room takes quarters. All I had was a $20 bill. The front desk told me that they could not break a $20 for change. They only had quarters in the drawer. I had a friend traveling with me who had a $5 and the desk was able to give me $5 in quarters since the machines take $1.25 for each load of wash or each dryer. Since when does a front desk not have change for a $20 bill? Went to the laundry room, ceiling lights had dead roaches in them.... The front entrance ceiling, ceiling lamps, air vents all had a large amount of dust on them. They had not been cleaned in years. The first indication of this was my allergies and nose. We went to the bar that evening. The entire staff was very pushy about going to the bar and having a drink. We would find out why.... Bartender asked each of us if we wanted a single or double shot, we both said single. The bartender proceeded to give us doubles without us being aware of it. Then proceeded to charge us for it. That's not how that works.... If I say single and you want to give me a double that's on you and you're not charging me... The food was ok, the breakfast was ok at best. Food was not hot and the cook did not seam to know what they were doing. I called Hilton about this property and filled a complaint... don't stay here... read more

Stayed May 2023 and there were bed bugs. I hope to hear back from the hotel as our formal complaint via the corporate website was forwarded to them. We're Gold Hilton Honors members, meaning we spend a lot of money with Hilton, and the response we received at check out was apathetic. We were disappointed. We were put in an older archaic room on the 3rd floor & my mother was as well. Her room didn't have working AC (which they knew about but didn't tell her) and ours had bed bugs. Once we were placed on the 2nd floor we saw the night and day difference. (see the photos) Older room had: bed bugs, old carpet, weak water pressure in the shower, and slow drains. We were covered in red, itchy, swollen bites for over a week from the bed bugs. IF you stay here, don't stay on the 3rd floor. Even if your room is bed bug free, there's no reason to pay the same amount and not be in an upgraded room on the 1st or 2nd floor. But honestly just find another hotel, don't stay here. read more

After everything I went through with this hotel--multiple calls to guest assistance and endless back-and-forth--they dug their heels in, refusing to help me get home to Florida after Hurricane Milton. Eventually, they refunded me, but not without putting me through hell first. There has been no apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. Instead, they've tried to bury the truth by attempting to remove my reviews on TripAdvisor and similar platforms. But guess what? This is Yelp--you're not going to remove this review. The customer service here was absolutely awful. The staff were rude over the phone, and the way they treated me was disgraceful. They made me fight every step of the way over a simple cancellation request that should have been resolved immediately. Then, after all that hassle, Hilton corporate told me, "Oh, it looks like they already refunded you." The whole experience was exhausting and unnecessary. If you're going to make a guest work this hard for something as basic as a cancellation, shame on you. Shame on your poor service, shame on your dismissive attitude, and shame on you for making this experience far worse than it needed to be. To the Hilton Garden Inn Amarillo: Good luck. What a nasty room they gave us! Room 190. We just checked out today. We were traveling with our 2 cats. Hotel is "pet friendly" but this room was not "pet safe" at all. Walked in and first noticed the CRAP stains on the carpets, it went downhill from there. The AC unit is extremely loud. Sounds like a severe windstorm all night. Under the AC unit we noticed our cat trying to grab something...it was a SCREW! That was dangerous! Huge gap spaces between bottom of box spring and the wooden frame. Cats were trying to squeeze in, so we asked for extra pillows and towels and blocked gaps up. The fridge is not adjustable and didn't work correctly. I was storing my meds and hope they are ok. The bathroom.....NASTY! Giant broken tiles in tub, broken sink, zero shower gel in shower. We told front desk but after 30min said forget it. I should've checked reviews first. We've had 2 gross HGI these past 2 days. Next stop we will choose another brand. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Terrible hotel. Staff is rude and NOT willing to help. Coffee maker didn't work and they refused to give me another. Pigeons outside window were so loud. Items stolen out of bed of my truck and they DON'T have cameras. Beware......I'm a Hilton supporter and only stay at those, however, Super 8 needs to go ahead and buy this one as this is the direction they're going. I try to keep my earrings objective and fair. My ratings for Yelp operate as such: (1) a "no" recommendation means I wouldn't stay there myself again unless the discrepancies were corrected. (2) a "maybe" means I might stay there, but I would hesitate. Here, I will leave one positive comment and one negative comment about this particular hotel. First, the location is very convenient for travelers off the freeway. It is on the west side of the city, and is near plenty of restaurants. The hotel is also clean, and provides fair amenities. However, our experience is that the mattresses are terrible. Some people don't can sleep on anything without complaint, and if so, then the hotel is a yes for them. The first time we stayed here, we didn't sleep well because of the beds. The mattresses were not soft and they felt as if they were box springs with foam on top. Almost a year later, we decided to give it another try only to find disappointment that the mattresses were the same. We hold diamond status and travel a lot - so we recognize that not every Garden Inn is the same and not every room or bed is the same. My account lists my preference for soft mattresses, thus I can only speculate that the beds we get are only what they have. Hope this helps some of you fellow travelers! read more

Room is comfortable but dated. Bathroom is small, door must be closed to use shower and the shower door hits the toilet. It's like they built the bathroom and the toilet was an afterthought. Breakfast is an $11 up charge. Just a cook making eggs and bacon. Toast, juice, etc. are all self serve. Food is typical bland hotel quality. read more

CONS: rubber threshold at door was coming up & nearly tripped us, no phone in room to call front desk or for room service (maintenance man looked, said no wiring in wall) and note on bathroom mirror said that housekeeping would come EVERY OTHER DAY so if you need more towels, trash taken out, etc. call front desk. We handed front desk a note requesting more towels and please take out our trash; we did get new towels but trash remained. We set the bags of trash outside our door. Holy horrible Hilton. I am a Hilton loyalist and have stayed in Hilton properties all over the world. This is the WORST. The a/c doesn't work in the common areas, the furniture and carpets are beyond tired (I'm talking bleach stains on cute dirty carpet and furniture), stained sheets, comforters that are well beyond their toss in the trash date, complete lack of attention to any detail. All around GROSS! This a a definite never again! Out of coffee pods across the entire hotel, no diet drinks to be found. When asked they said they were completely out of all of the above. read more

Soooo I was moving from FTW to Denver annnd decided to stay here in between my move. First impression is well, the front of the hotel is nice...so expected the room to be nice. Also customer service was good...poor girl was there by herself and did my best ti help me. Got a room and nobody was there to help with bags, I get to the room and it looks like it was time-warped from 1950s. I debated 30min and called the front desk to ask if the Homewood Suites next door was nicer. She said yes, its nicer and has been remodeled unlike this hotel which stopped after Covid. I asked if my room could be transferred to the nicer hotel next door. Being a Hilton Honors memember, and that the hotels were RIGHT next to each other...I expected more. Renovations should've been done YEARS earlier. Props to the manager and cutsomer service front desk who honored my price from the old hotel to new. BUT they should have someone to help with bags!! We met some friends in Amarillo and we stayed at this motel. I will never stay there again! The door to our room would not open or close properly and would open with just a slight push. There was a big coffee station under the bathroom sink. No coffee. We were charged an extra $50 per room for "incidentals" nonrefundable. My friends requested extra pillows and had to ask again the next day. The desk clerk was very unfriendly as well as the rest of the staff. The cook was not friendly either and we were charged for breakfast as well $12.00 per person. There were water stains on the walls in the lobby and it looked like there was a terrible leak in the roof with torn drywall. I do not recommend this place at all!!! read more

We stayed at the Hilton Garden inn, Amarillo Texas August 15,2021. We WERE NOT told upon arrival that there was a huge security issue ongoing. Five thefts in the past week in the parking lot. Also We WERE NOT told upon arrival that there were NO SECURITY CAMERAS ON THE PROPERTY. We just so happened to park in the spot closest to the front door, backed in and under a huge light. However We woke up the next morning to our yeti box and tent being stolen from the bed of our truck with all of our camping supplies inside. Our desk clerk, Acacia, was extremely nice and apologetic.She was the one who informed us of all the robberies, her wallet included, and that there no security cameras on site. She even told us the desk clerk at checkin WAS SUPPOSED to warn us and have us lock up our valuables. I wish he would have. Because now we are out of almost $1000 worth of merchandise and my fathers irreplaceable knife. We asked Acacia to call the manager. And Cameron, the manager, came. She has been of no help. Only offered a couple points to my Hilton account. We left the hotel and I called Hilton customer service. Spoke with a lady who started our case. This hotel is owned by a company in India. Please choose another hotel. This Hilton knows they don't have cameras and don't protect their guests. Zero customer service. read more

The Hilton Garden Inn was a decent spot to spend the night. Through no fault of their own, access was a little tricky due to extensive construction happening on the I40, which is literally on their doorstep. They handed us water bottles at check-in, which I always appreciate, and our room was large, clean and comfy. Despite the proximity of the highway, I couldn't hear it from the room. Everyone -- employees and guests -- wore masks. There was a to go bag with water, a cereal bar and an apple at check-out. I know Texas doesn't get snow often, but as it melted and the temperature dropped at night, it formed giant ice patches in the parking lot. There didn't seem to be any salt to melt it. Unfortunately, I slipped getting to my car. No harm done but not the best way to start a long day of driving. read more

I booked this hotel a couple of months before our trip - it wasn't our usual stop in Amarillo, but due to the NYE holiday, our usual hotel was double the price. I'm an avid Hilton person with quite a lot of points and booked thru the app. I always use the digital key when available but this time was BAD. B A D. We checked in and, shortly after, my digital key was downloaded to my phone. FOR THE WRONG ROOM. I quickly went the the front desk to inform them and the employee couldn't have cared less. He added the correct room to my digital key but the other room stayed on. I even tested it and we were able to unlock {I absolutely did NOT enter} the other room's door. Needless to say, my husband and I barely slept and his handgun was out all night wondering if someone else was able to access our room as well. I'll never stay at this hotel again. read more

Just about every year except 2020 we find ourselves in an Amarillo motel after a long drive on our way to northern New Mexico. We have probably stayed in a dozen different properties; while this was not the best ever, it was certainly among our best lodging experiences in Amarillo. All of the newer motels in this particular area require a little maneuvering to get back onto Soncy to travel east or to go to any of the nearby restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. We did not do the grab-and-go breakfast bags, opting instead for Starbucks. Desk clerks were friendly and efficient. read more

We checked in through the app as we knew we would be arriving late. We got to our room around 11:45pm. It was freezing cold! Woke up several times throughout the night because we were hot but around 5:00, we woke up sweating. Tried to use the thermostat on the wall, but it had no power so we tried to use the dials on the actual AC unit and it still wouldn't come on. After trying for about 30 minutes, we called the front desk. We explained that the AC wasn't working and it was really uncomfortable. She told us to use the thermostat. We told her it wasn't working. She told us to try the dials on the AC unit. We told it also wasn't working. Her response was "then I don't know. That's all I know to do. I can let maintenance know when they get in." We asked when that would be and she said around 8:00am. We needed to sweat another 3 hours... We took the covers off and tried to go back to sleep but it was just too hot so we called to see if they could just put us in another room. She said they were sold out so that wasn't an option. It is now 9:30am and we still have no AC! No one has called. No one has come up to fix it. Housekeeping came by around 9:00am and I tried to ask her for help but there was a language barrier. She eventually understood and tried to call someone from her cell phone but it went to voicemail. At least the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. read more

We stayed here this weekend while we were in town visiting family. I am a Hilton Honors member and love to stay in the HGI whenever possible. I love the cleanliness of the rooms and the delicious breakfast. This hotel was a step below what I am used to experiencing at the other HGI hotels. In the room the air conditioning would turn on and off throughout the night. We were unable to keep it at a steady temperature. One second I would be burning and the next freezing. The carpet was old and sticky. Make sure to wear socks. And the pillows underneath the pillowcase had a yellow-ish tint. Ew. We loved that they have a kuerig in the room though. That is such a nice amenity. They also provide a decent coffee and breakfast tea with it. I loved the woman who worked the breakfast shift. She was so friendly and nice. We ate there three mornings and she remembered us each time and brought us our usual drinks when we arrived. The breakfast was delicious. I loved the fried eggs, French toast and chocolate chip waffles! I will say that the male waiter wad always EXTREMELY slow to bring the check which can be a pain when you are trying to go somewhere on a schedule. This is not the best location in terms of the HGI hotels, but I would stay here again if I were back in the area. read more

After a long travel day I was looking forward to a restful evening when I pulled into the Hilton Garden Inn in Amarillo on July 5th. I trust Hilton properties and can always count on a clean and comfortable stay. You can only imagine my shock when I pulled down the sheets to find blood on the pillow case, sheets and bedspread. I brought this to the attention of the desk clerk and they did provide new sheets but getting a restful night's sleep was definitely out of the question after this experience. Just imagine what a black light would uncover! The desk clerk offered to credit my Honors account 10k points but considering one night is 30k points this is insulting! At the very least I should have been escorted to a new and oh-by-the-way, CLEAN room. Saying I was disappointed in the Hilton brand and Hilton Promise is an understatement. Rooms are clean and way large for the contents. The tv is a tiny, maybe 32", and far from the foot of the bed. The "grab and go breakfast" was sad. Bagels with no way to toast them, no plastic knife in the "utensils " kit. read more

Cleaning solution smell doesn't make it clean ) stuffy. I get like I was in prison with pictures. I couldn't breathe. No on acknowledge our presence as honors members, couldn't care less to get out of their chair. Digital keys didn't work. Breakfast , no cook in kitchen , just some stuff thrown on the table. Nice, convenient, quiet, and clean hotel. The rooms, hallways, elevator, stairway, gym, lobby, and parking lot are well kept and clean. The location is on the freeway feeder road near an exit, with is great for easy access and quick departure. The bed is decent, but the pillows are not my favorite. The greatest thing about the room is that it gets completely dark; perhaps the darkest room I've experienced this year! Once the blackout curtains are pulled shut, there's hardly any light in the room except the tiny LED's on the TV and charging ports. Easy check-in & check-out with the Hilton Honors app. Low rates compared to most Hilton properties, but doesn't feel like a bargain-basement hotel. read more

Is this an old property refurbished with your brand name, I stayed in room 360, walls are dirty scuffed all around, spider webs in corners near window. All furnishings need to be wiped down / polished, rust showing on inside door frame in bathroom, towel rack in shower has rust stains, shower door at the bottom on the inside has presumed mold forming, old shower door needs to be replaced with new sliding style ... The entire room needs to be wiped down... Third floor outside elevator large rip in carpet should be fixed immediately before someone trips and falls from it... totally opposite presentation than the New Mexico branch... Disappointment that there was not a restaurant available on the premises like the one in New Mexico... read more

Even the hallway carpet on the 2nd floor was terrible!! The desk clerk said they had remodeled some rooms but we certainly were not given one. Only giving 1 star for complimentary water upon check in. This place is dirty!! The bathrooms are grimy and clearly not cleaned very well. When I walked into the room for the first time, I noticed my towels were stained. Not to mention, housekeeping didn't bother to replace the toilet paper from the previous guest, which begs me to wonder how well this hotel is being cleaned, especially during a pandemic. Overall 4 stars. Convenient location just off I-40, the front desk clerk gave me two bottles of water (I soon discovered there are no water cups in the room, so the water bottles were a must), very large room, clean carpet, comfortable bed, Keurig coffee maker with several paper cups and lids (though I noticed one was cracked and would spill if used), microwave, mini fridge (albeit without temp control), and fairly priced. I did find the HVAC to be rather loud and difficult to control, so I had to settle for chilly. And one thing I found particularly awkward was that the bathroom door is ginormous; it barely clears the toilet and blocks the shower door. So you can't use the toilet without stepping beside the toilet to get the door out of the way, and repeat on exiting. Same thing for using the shower. Nothing they can do about it now, but the architect certainly screwed up. This door should have either been a pocket door or swung out given the tight spacing. It is most certainly not handicap accessible, and I can't imagine 2 people using the bathroom at the same time. read more

So this is a hotel that is on it's last legs before either being remodeled, sold or knocked down. Age and wear and tear show throughout the place. No one has picked up cigarette butts outside of the main entrance in quite a while. TV doesn't work, which isn't a huge deal, but if I wanted to watch it, it most certainly would be. Plumbing seems a bit sketchy but seems to be mostly functional. And my new favorite...I asked for an envelope and they either don't have any (I find that hard to believe) or they just don't want to give them out. read more
