I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Florence twice in one week. I was traveling to Portsmouth, VA, from Jacksonville, FL, to meet my newest great nephew. This location was the halfway point of my journey. The hotel was conveniently located off I95, with several restaurants and gas stations nearby. They had an indoor pool and vending/ice machines. Both rooms were clean and the staff were attentive and kind. I forgot to pack toothpaste and stopped by the front desk. The employee gave me a sample size at no cost. The bed was comfortable and I couldn't hear any neighbors, so I was able to get a restful night of sleep. I will remember this hotel for future trips to visit my niece and her family. read more

I'm not pleased with the fact that I couldn't properly decompress after multiple hours of overtime today. For Hilton standards I know it could be better because all I wanted was a very hot bath and all I could get was lukewarm water that wouldn't even be suffice enough for a steamed bath. read more

TV/Cable would not work in any of the rooms and the pool had too many chemicals in it! We let the front desk know about the TV and they told us to re-boot TV....well that was not a solution that could work.....The pool area was great and clean, but their were too many chemicals that bleached my son's swimsuit!! The rest of the stay was ok. The hotel is in a great location and has a pool! I would not stay again, unless I was assured they had their TV fixed and pool was safe to swim in. We were their for a soccer tournament with kids, so TV is a must to have available to help kill time between games and we paid for 2 nights and expect to have these amenities. read more

Honestly, we travel often and this particular hotel is the best we have stayed in for the money! It was spotless, the staff is friendly and welcoming whether its the night or day staff. The room was so comfortable and the shower was incredible! Like your very own hot tub! We ate dinner at their bistro, Rebecca & the bartender & other wait staff bent over backwards for us. My cobb salad was huge & delicious and my husband enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich too! In the morning you can order breakfast or enjoy their yummy buffet for a reasonable price. Jazzy and the rest of the wait staff made our day with their sunny smiles, helpful suggestions and pleasant personalities Definitely a wonderful place to stay!!! read more

Spent one night passing through on our way home. Lobby is nice and modern. Both front desk staff and restaurant staff were friendly and the restaurant food was decent. Guest rooms are dated, drab and dingy. One of our beds was missing the top sheet, the coffee maker in our room didn't work and the previous guests refrigerated items were still in the refrigerator. Expensive for the BELOW AVERAGE experience!! With our discount card we pd $130. For a worn out King bed. BREAKFAST WAS AN EXTRA $14.95 PER PERSON. Waited 20 minutes for eggs, sausages were so over cooked they were desiccated, cooks complained loudly that they had to COOK waffles for guests. Very drunk bar crowd which we clearly heard out in the hallway at 1:30 am. Both the Wyndom and Comfort hotels we stayed in this trip HAD BETTER BEDS AND ACCOMMODATIONS, WERE ABOUT $90. This is one of the most run down and tired Hilton Garden Inn that I've ever seen. It is sorely in need of updates, maintenance and a good cleaning service. The bathroom is dirty, wallpaper peeling, shower door is way off kilter and creates a major flood that goes out to the hall, the carpets are filthy and the beds have been made so poorly, it looks like someone slept on top of them. I would never eat in this hotel just based on the uncleanliness of the entire hotel. I would have left if it weren't for the fact that it was so late and we were exhausted when we arrived and most other hotels in the area had no vacancies. Time to step up your game Hilton! It says Hilton Garden Inn out front but I honestly feel like I am at a low tier budget motel. First, the check in experience is not what I had hoped for and little did I know a foreshadow of things to come. Upon entering the property I was not made to feel welcome but more of a disturbance to whatever the young woman at the reception desk was into prior to my disturbing her. Second at around midnight I was awakened by pounding on several doors in the hallway. I know how can pounding on doors be the fault of the hotel right, one would think they are surely not awakening their guests....I called downstairs when the knock hit my door because I simply thought it was just a rude guest....NO, IT WAS THE HOTEL'S WAY OF TELLING PEOPLE PARKED TO THE RIGHT OF THE BUILDING THEY HAD TO GO DOWNSTAIRS TO MOVE THEIR CARS....SAY WHAT! Next since I had trouble going back to sleep I figured a warm shower would help awaken me and get me ready for the six hours of driving ahead only to be greated with a dirty shower. There was a bunch of lotion or conditioner caked to the shower wall. Needless to say, I am forgoing the breakfast offering downstairs and will find elsewhere to eat..HGI Florence has gotten as much of my money as they ate going to get. But My Bridesmaids one had a problem getting toilet paper, when asked the cleaning lady for some she got ATTITUDE, ones toilet overflowed and she had to go to front desk to have them to come clean up the floor! The breakfast omelette maker gets 1"Happy Face" star. The entire breakfast service experience is wonderful and not rushed if you have the time. You could grab it and go but why (frown face)? No one looks forward to jumping back on I-95 for a 6 hour drive to MD after a 5.5 hour drive from FL so this respite and oasis will lift your spirits overnight. We could have found fast-food breakfast cheaper in the area but I don't like hunting for decent food so early in the AM so we opt to eat here. The room was huge, lots of space. My electronic key didn't work initially but the desk clerk got it going. The electronic key cliche seems to be a systemic issue not unique to this Hilton. The techies need to solve it. Our Apple devices connected to WiFi service easily and streamed the news and a few other shows plus downloaded newspaper fast enough. There is a small indoor heated pool and hot tub which we didn't have time to use. This is my 2nd time staying at this Hilton. It's EZ on/off I-95 and a upscale overnighter. There are cheaper accommodations at this exit but I prefer this place. read more

No TP in room when we arrived. Called desk once but none brought to room. Called again an hour later but still none bright to room. Called a third time 30 minutes later and front desk person hung up on us. It took a fourth call and nearly two hours to get TP. From the outside, the Hilton Garden Inn looks great. It's clean, the landscape was nice, the location was great. Walk in and the lobby is layer out nice with a bar tucked away to the left and a well stocked snack room in the middle. The lobby was clean and flows well. I walk up to the desk to check in and no one is there. I wait for like 10 min. By now, more families ( from the soccer tournament we were attending) start lining up. Finally a gentleman comes from around the corner and is in no hurry to check me in, but we got thru it. We get to the room and it's nice, clean and layer out well. The shower handle on the other hand was a hot mess. It was clocked wrong and you had to crank it all the way past the red to get hot water. Some friends of ours also had trouble with the shower. For the most part, the room served its purpose and we got thru it. Oh, one more thing, no complimentary breakfast! They had gotten enough of my money. We went to Waffle House. read more

I am a Hilton Honors Gold member with many years of experience with the brand. I recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, on a round trip to Florence, SC relocating one of my Daughters. We were towing a U-Haul Trailer. I can attest to adequate parking for 33ft vehicles or truck & trailer. Great location with easy access to everything you can possibly think of. This is what I expect from a Hilton Garden Inn! Check-in was effortless. I told the front desk my name, and they handed me my key, thanked me for being a Gold member, and asked me to call them if they could do anything to make my stay more pleasant! Friendly, courteous, polite, everything that I didn't experience in my previous night's stay in Virginia. People were wearing masks and distancing, but the restaurant and bar were open for business! Unfortunately, I could not try the food opting instead to eat out with my vegan allergy-laden daughter. I did have a few drinks, reasonably priced and reasonably poured. The property looked and smelled like it was brand new. The Hilton Cleanstay seals were on the doors, and the room was squeaky clean. Great spacious tiled bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The coffee was always available and always hot. I stayed three nights which included extending my stay, which was also effortless and promptly handled by the staff on short notice. My only complaint was that the air conditioner in our room was very loud and requires servicing. Fortunately for my son and I we were so tired every night we were able to drop off despite the noise. I am going to be returning to Florence now that I have a daughter living there. I will be making this property my home away from home. Thank you for the beautiful stay. read more

If there was an ability to give more than 5 stars....I WOULD! This room was extraordinary! My wife and I were talking as I was traveling home to Baltimore from Florida, and she reserved this room for me, and paid for it. The staff were smiling as soon as I walked in, and were very helpful! They explained the 24 hour pantry in the lobby, they explained the breakfast included, and how to get to my room. It may not sound like a lot, but when you have been driving all day.....a smiling face is MUCH appreciated. The tub.....OMG. I took three baths during my short 14 hour stay. The spa jets in the tub were wonderful, and extra bonus....the TV was easy to watch from the tub, as I enjoyed a cold beverage. The lobby was beautiful, and each floor was quiet and clean, with vending on every floor. Breakfast was delicious. Biscuits and gravy (southern style). Grits, great coffee, and fresh fruit. I could go on and on....this hotel is worth EVERY PENNY. read more

Lovely hotel near the convention center in Downtown Florence. The staff are true southerners and like to talk but get the job done. This hotel was rooms and grounds were clean, and close to the highway. The breakfast here is very good, I would highly recommend eating here instead of grabbing breakfast anywhere else in the neighborhood. It's fresh food from the grill, grits, French toast, omelets, pancakes, coffee, etc.. The staff was very accommodating to my large group and eat food in the common areas, raid the complimentary cereal and use the pool after closing hours. There is a diverse clientele that frequents this hotel. The only issue I would say is that the WIFI has to be reconnected on your devices often. read more

There are no automatic toilets, which I hate. There's an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. The showers have really hot water and great water pressure. Close to a lot of things to do and restaurants. Comfy beds in big rooms. Great view. I would recommend this place. read more

The room we booked was unavailable when we got there. It was available when being booked but was apparently being renovated by the time we were trying to check in. No notice of that until we were trying to check in. Too late to cancel with out losing our money and ABSOLUTELY no concern, care or customer service. Not their problem. I'm a diamond elite member and stay in these all of the time. Decent hotel but FYI they've closed the gym, the pool, and the business area due to "faulty equipment". Clearly an excuse to close bc of Covid (which is ridiculous). Even if it is the case, buy new equipment LOL.... in the morning they will try to make you put on gloves to touch anything in the lobby. This place is out of control. Employees are very polite and clearly being forced to do this by the owner. They own the Hampton down the street so avoid that one as well. I was here for an event. It is a nice hotel across from everything in Florence, SC. It's directly across from the Mall and great dining. The Hilton Garden Inn is easy to located and easy to access. Parking is good for guest. The event space was small, but adequate for the event I attended. The staff was very friendly and directed me to the location. The event had food, which was provided by the Hilton Garden Inn staff. The had assorted options that were great. I enjoyed the layout, which was colorful. I would stay here if I'm in the area again. I stayed here in November 2012 for a few days while in the area for work. There are quite a few places to stay in the area, but nothing that I would normally choose if I were on vacation. The room I stayed in was pretty basic. No frills, but it served its purpose, and since I was here to work and not on vacation, the room suited me just fine. The positives: - Convenient location - near shopping, many restaurants, and across the way from the mall - Spacious rooms - not that I needed the space - Clean room/bathroom - Nice lobby The negatives: - Shower water pressure was way too strong. - AC/heating unit was really loud. It was too cold to leave the heater off, but the heater was too loud to fall asleep easily. - The coffee was bitter (tasted burnt). - The pastries from the (not free) breakfast bar were dry. The neutrals: - Bed comfort was ok. I certainly prefer my own bed, but it wasn't terrible. - Breakfast is $7.95 regardless of how much or how little you eat. One of my co-workers found this out when she got a small box of cereal from the buffet area and was charged $7.95. A different co-worker had the same total and she got fruit, eggs, and biscuits & gravy. - Décor in the room was . . . meh. I was here for work, so I didn't care too much. A little drab for if I was on vacation though. - No kitchenette (just a microwave, coffee maker, and mini fridge). Not a big deal for a few days, but as I was scheduled to be in the area for two weeks, I moved over to the Residence Inn so I could cook a few meals instead of eating out all the time. - The staff was courteous, but as they are in the hotel industry I expect that. Overall, the Hilton Garden Inn is not a bad place, but it's not a great place either. I don't think I'll ever be back in the area, but I probably wouldn't stay here again if I had to return. read more

Not great. Had large rooms. Was very clean. I had three issues. First, after my wife was asleep I noticed the toilet was not working. Clogged, but was too late to get someone u to fix or change rooms...my choice was to just deal with it since leaving in 5 hours. Second, at 05:15 Sunday AM I go down for coffee since the provided Kurig did not work. The coffee was old and cold. Third, at 05:35 I go to check out on July 8, 2018, the only guy behind the desk is sitting there sleeping in his chair like a large slug. I needed to loudly say excuse me to get him alert, he about fell out of his chair. I told him my about the toilet and the cold coffee. Not apology's, no attempt to help. Just fumbled my receipt to me. Clearly a guy they need to get rid of. I am a Gold member and will never return. Bet that. read more

It's always difficult to write a review while traveling on a major highway where many, many people frequent the hotel. That being said, we were somewhat happy with this establishment. Our card key did not work, the parking left much to be desired, and the carpeting was not clean. The Hilton has not invested in this place since they opened it. The floors in the main dining area are filthy. In fact, I don't think they've EVER cleaned the carpets. The shower curtains, old. Bed pillows are so flat they should just put them in the trash. It is running with the minimum investment but charges higher than average rates. I guess this is simple supply and demand. They can and should do better by their customers. I expect more from the Hilton chain. The staff is great, friendly, and very attentive. read more

I want to put 0 stars, but that is not an optional so I guess I'll put one. We got there and noticed that the carpets were being cleaned and thought it was great. However, we noticed when we got to our rooms that the carpets were being cleaned because they were infested with bed bugs. We noticed them crawling all over my sisters blanket minutes after setting it on the bed and I had one crawling up my leg. After having a panic attack and running out of our hotel and frantically checking all off our bags and clothes to make sure they weren't all over, we went to the desk where they said they "had no idea there were bed bugs." They reimbursed us but Hilton was no help in helping us find another hotel for the night and we are currently trying to find somewhere to stay after driving 12 hours today. I am traumatized and disgusted by the Hilton and still have the big itches an hour later. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

This place is comfortable, clean and the staff is so helpful and courteous. We stopped there both on our way and then coming home from FL and it was an oasis. They have a pool and hot tub that are so welcomed after so many hours on the road. And the pool is nice and warm, so you aren't freezing when getting in with your kids. The rooms are beautiful and quiet. I couldn't ask for more in a hotel. Breakfast was great, too. read more

With all my travels, it's nice to have good breakfast food. Sausage, bacon, real eggs, hash browns, orange juice and cereal. I will definitely be back for this. Prisilla for dinner was good. I had a real hamburger with steak cut fries. Because it was a bit less than I expected, I received some free dessert. The cake was great! My room was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The shower has plenty of power and that is something important to me. It wasn't my usual pit stop, but I can see myself making it a regular pit stop. Thanks for your excellent service!! Facility is nice and hotel is lovely. Pictures of pool are deceptive - it is tiny! The hotel was booked solid and there are 6-8 kids at pool at 8:30 at night. No room for any more :( be aware that their king sized bed is really just a little bigger than a queen - maybe 70" at best. I am 5'8 and it was just an inch or two past that when I laid across. I thought maybe they put me and my dtr in the wrong room but the front desk response was "we hear that a lot but we've had them measured." Well they sure aren't the 76" king promoted on Hilton Bed... But whatever. I would have given them 3.5 stars, because I feel like the room is more like a single Queen than a King, and because the managers response was rather gruff.... But couldn't figure out how lol, and it is a nice place. Now if I can just wrestle my tween onto her own side of the bed and get some rest! read more
