This is probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in! The room was dirty and not clean in the slightest! The walls are so thin I can hear the tv going on in the next door room. The housekeeping people are so loud in the morning and just walk into your room before knocking and are so inconsiderate! I would highly advise people to stay away from this hotel. read more

As pet-friendly hotels go, this place is pretty nice. The check-in process was very smooth, the gentleman at the desk was courteous and efficient, the room is spacious and clean with a mini-fridge, iron and ironing board, a desk, a nice selection of channels on the TV, all hard surface flooring, and a spacious bathroom. The hotel is very convenient to I-95 and there are tons of restaurants in the area. The only negative is the price. AAA price with tax came in at $119. I might just be old, but that seems high for such basic accommodations. I don't expect to ever need a room in Florence again, but if I do and I'm traveling with my pup, this place will likely get my business again. read more

We booked this hotel because it was halfway down to Florida and right off the interstate 95 Southbound. It was clean, but my husband didn't like the parking amenities. Our car was safe. The room was clean. We got up early to get back on the road, so we did not get a chance to try the gym or free breakfast. read more

The bed didn't have clean linen, it had a long piece of hair inside the sheets. There was a small particle in the bed; not certain of what it was. I stayed here with my mother and our 2 small dogs-and this hotel is dog-friendly. But-you would NEVER KNOW IT!! We travel from New York City to Florida and back every winter. We drive down and stop every year in Florence South Carolina overnight and then continue our drive. For the past 10 to 12 years we have stayed at La Quinta Inn and suites in Florence South Carolina. Every year we make reservations for this stay, and this year was no exception. On a drive from New York City to Florida we stayed at La Quinta, and when paying our bill pre-booked our return stay. Yesterday was our return trip home to New York from Florida. While packing the car and closing up the house, we received a phone call from La Quinta Inn and suites as soon as we got the message, we returned the call and they were confused as to why we got any call at all but confirmed our reservation and we told them we would see them later tonight. It's about a 10 Hour Dr. from our home in Florida to Florence South Carolina and by the time we have closed up the house, packed the car and get on The road, it makes for a very long day. At some point in the afternoon power on the road, driving we received a second phone call from La Quinta hotel, questioning, whether or not we were keeping our reservation and claiming not to have our credit card information. We are sure they're not only did they have her credit card information but the reservation was made in person at the desk of the hotel and we had a confirmation letter printed out. There's no way you can make a reservation at the desk or over the phone and have a confirmation number without having already given them your credit card number. They assured us everything was fine and made a note on the computer that we would be arriving late. Later that evening, close to midnight, we received another phone call from La Quinta, and at this point we were about an hour away from Florence South Carolina. This phone call was to inform us that our reservation has been canceled at our room giving away the hotel was fully booked, and there was no room waiting for us. No explanation as to why our reservation was canceled in her room give it away. No explanation as to why after confirming we were coming multiple times that very day our room was given away. No offer was made to help us find an alternate hotel. We then called the corporate offices, and received very poor customer service (most likely delivered from India), from a representative that couldn't keep straight the difference between South Carolina, and California. Multiple offers were attempted for hotels in California, however, we were in our car in South Carolina. Eventually, a hotel was found for us, but an hour reversed from where we had already traveled, and not wanting to go backwards in our trip at 12 midnight we were left with no option but to continue driving through the night. Needless to say, if you cannot depend upon a reservation, what good is it? I will not be using La Quinta, or any other Wyndham hotel in the future. read more

I stopped here on a drive from NY to FL. The hotel is located next to a Shoney's. The young lady who greeted me at the desk was polite and efficient. My first impression of the hotel was that it looked updated and modern. The room was spacious and clean. I was using la quinta rewards points, so it was a free stay, but I think this hotel usually costs $75-90. They do have a free breakfast, but the waffle I had did not taste right and I had to throw it out after a bite. I suspect something was wrong with the mix, maybe too much water. Wish I had been able to eat it! I'm knocking off stars because I feel like this area might be iffy. I am a female and was traveling alone, I felt perfectly fine inside the hotel, but use common sense when outside. There is a gas station a couple of buildings away and there were some vagrants hanging out there even during the day. After driving 800+ miles alone over two days, all I wanted was a nice hot shower to soothe my stiff back. It was 9:30 PM, I was exhausted, but excited for that shower. I got in the bathtub and the water was lukewarm and not warming up at all. At this point I just wanted to settle in and sleep. I assumed I would end up having to change rooms, so I didn't call the desk. The thought of dragging my items and dog to another room was not appealing. I mentioned the shower problem the next morning when I was checking out and I was told you have to put it in the knob in the middle. I'm sorry, but that's not how faucets work in the USA. The result is I left here having barely showered since the water was not warm enough. Perhaps the staff could tell guests at check in or put some kind of sign in the bathrooms. The woman at the front desk told me the shower knobs were messed up when the contractors had renovated. Not a great stay. This would have been a 3.5-4 star experience if the shower handle had worked properly. read more

So we finally wrap up our NY trip and was heading back to our home in South Florida. Since we had a good time at the La Quinta at Charleston on the way up to NY, I decided to book another night here at this La Quinta Inn right off I-95. The main reason why I picked La Quinta is because it's one of the very few Pet-Friendly hotels. They don't charge you extra for your fur babies, and do not require a pet-deposit. So naturally I thought it's pro-pets and pro-pet-owners, but apparently I was wrong. To be fair, the room itself seems nice and clean. But I didn't appreciate their customer service. We left our doggies in our room so we can grab a quick bite. While we were dinning, I got a all from the hotel front desk saying our pet was barking and they have received a few complaints. I apologized and told the staff we are just about finishing our dinner and we will be back very soon. We got back to our room in about 15 minutes, and soon after we got back, I got another call in our room. The same staff called us again and told us about the complaints. Well I heard you the first time thank you very much. I also apologized for our dogs and our dogs stopped barking after we got back, so what more do you want. And this time the call was very unfriendly, almost rude in my opinion. This staff sounded very pissed off at us she almost wanted to kick us out. I am sure most dog owners knows sometimes you can't stop your dogs from barking after you leave the room. And, at the time we left the room, its not like we left the dog barking at mid night. It was only around 8pm and most people left their TV volume louder than our dogs. I just wish they could handled this more professionally. read more

A clean and safe place to stay. I'm a solo traveler. I was met by a very personable front desk person named Kat. She watched out for me and made sure I had what I needed - hairdryer and extra coffee pods. The king size room is large with a sofa bed. It's quiet enough to sleep well after an eleven hour drive. I was hoping to screen share with the tv, but it's not a smart tv. No worries, plenty of channels. The bed is comfortable, and I brought my own pillow. I plan to stay here again. UPDATE: Although my review will still stand, as it was one of the worst hotels I've been to and I'm still upset about them giving someone a key to my room at night as well as how dirty it was, I did want to provide an update stating that the hotel management did reach out to me to apologize about the "awful" experience. The manager stated they will work with staff to ensure future guests don't experience the same, and they made good by me. I do hope they truly make changes. Stained comforter. Stained couch. Dirty liquid splatters on closet door. Floors by bathtub/shower need cleaned. Was hung up on by someone at front desk when asking for a clean comforter. Went to front desk instead, eventually got new comforter (too small for bed, but at least looked clean). Hotel is definitely on a downward slope. At 10:15 pm, a man tried repeatedly to open my door. I said someone was in room. Front desk called and asked my name because I should be in different room. Reminded them they gave me key to room (with card sleave with room number on it), and they came up a few hours previous to change comforter. Then, worker called me "love", said it was computer error, and "no problems". (Oh, there ARE problems, here!) I asked that they ensure they would not be giving a key to my room to anyone else overnite. Assuming man got another room. Nothing has been worth the cost for the two rooms (second room for family member) I got for the night. Do not recommend on any level. read more

I had to stay here with two dogs for one night while traveling. I was very concerned about cleanliness and price! Pleasantly surprised that it was very affordable and unlike other similar properties in the area, zero pet fee!! Some others I called wanted to charge $50-$100 pet fee!!! This place was zero. When I get to a room I examine for any signs of bedbugs etc. saw zero I literally stayed overnight and left at 6 am. I could NOT get Wi-Fi in my ROOM but could in Hall and lobby and alittle in my bathroom. I tried!! This was one of the closest rooms to lobby. Breakfast was clean and ready early. The towels seemed like they were reused since they had mascara all over and were dingy. The water from the shower barely had any pressure even after changing all the shower output options on the shower head. Pleasantly surprised on our two night stay here. There is a nice area to walk the dogs. It has a few places to eat at close to it. Rooms were a nice size, clean and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I requested a 1 st floor room which they accommodated with no problem. The only down fall was the lack of water pressure on one night. I travel with my dog a lot so have frequented lots of Laquinta Hotels. This one was very clean with friendly staff. We only stayed one night but I had the opportunity to meet 3 staff members. Each one had a great attitude and cared about the hotel and their customers. The young man who checked us in was joggling between numerous phone calls and customers in front of him and did not falter in his level of service. The room was large and comfortable and very clean. We had two dogs and three adults I know there were a lot of other pets in the hotel but we did not hear noise. Outside is a nice looking dog park area. If you are in SC and need to stop I recommend this hotel. read more

Very unprofessional! I booked 2 rooms weeks in advance. Confirmed the rooms and was told everything was all set. I called La Quinta an hour before arriving since I had already inform them we were doing a late check in..10pm and then I was told they didn't have rooms available and were under staffed and all the rooms were booked. Makes no damn sense!! Are you under staffed and the rooms are dirty or did you give out the rooms to walkins and charged extra. Completely disregarding the reservations done online ?! Truly the most unpleasant experience. 2 families, 4 kids left stranded pretty much. No place to stay because every other hotel is booked. Please inform me what the point of making reservations, paying ahead and confirming is?? How do you have an establishment like this and not manage it well to secure and respect reservations. read more

This LaQuinta is located right off i95, so it's easy to find but it can be busy with passing travelers. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, along with gas stations. The hotel is modern and maintained well. There's a pool out back, a fitness room to use, and a nice size lobby/breakfast area. The staff is usually very friendly and reacts to any concerns. Then the rooms are large, with big screen tvs, a refrigerator, a microwave, comfortable beds, and fresh linens. While there are many Pros to stay here, there are a few Cons that warrant feedback: -dogs allowed, so expect barking, ask to change rooms if a problem, that's what I do. -sometimes the hot water flow is low, it's very random, but I've experienced enough times. -the breakfast is average, and sometimes items run out quickly. - I hate the small bed pillows. But the hotel serves my basic needs since I travel to Florence for work 1-2x a month. And with the full parking lot it serves many other travelers, visitors and guests. My family stayed here over the weekend. The room was booked in May and I was told at the time of booking my room would accommodate 2 adults and 4 children with 2 queen beds and a pullout sofa. On check-in I was told that hotel don't have that type of accommodation nor do they have roll aways. The hotel is full to capacity so we couldn't get another room. Get to the room, one bec had not been made, which let me know the bedding wasn't changed; and the bath tub had a dirty ring in it,, which let's me know it had not been cleaned. The microwave was not cleaned out and food was left in the refrigerator. I could say a lot more, but suffice it to say I will never stay here again. if I could do this with no stars I would! stayed 2 times at Florence SC Laquinta, first time charged 125 dollars for a double bed and small dog, 2 weeks later I was charged 175 for the same 2 double bed room, however the guy at desk said "all we have is a king bed" not a king bed at all! After driving 16 hours checking in at midnight I was not in mindset to go back to front desk and would take it up with front desk in morning. NO ONE at front desk and could not find anyone, so we left knowing we have another 10 drive ahead of us. So for 3 weeks have been emailing back and forth without being able to even talk to anyone! This is a pet friendly hotel, no extra charge and they offer military discount. The rooms were clean for the most part but there were paw prints on one of the beds, checkin was fast and easy. They just didn't have any soaps in the restroom for us to use but I had my own. When you check out you can leave your keys in the room, no need to go to the front desk to drop off. The front desk staff were very kind and the bed wasn't bad. We stayed here because we had our dog with us & we had stayed at a LaQuinta in Selma, NC that was beautiful. Unfortunately this place was entirely different. Very old, very dirty. The window treatment, which should have been white or creams, was brown with dirt. Couch stained. Floor was dirty. I had to clean the bathroom mirror it was so dirty. Overall just very grimy. Also beware that a loud train passes. Skip it. read more

Anyone who travels w/ their dogs knows all about La Quinta's dog friendly policy. For less than $100, you and Fido can stay comfortably w/o erroneous added charges to house your fur baby. La Quinta's are generally clean, offer free breakfast, & have your typical hotel amenities (pool, fitness, meeting rooms, etc...). This La Quinta has all the above, but what I can't figure out is why the heck they skipped out on blackout curtains? I like my room pitch black when i go sleep, but the sheerness of the room curtains let's all the outside light in. I've stayed in dive motels that may have been sketchy, but at least blocked out the outside world. Another ding: ac/heat unit was pretty loud. We arrived July 9th in the evening. The gentleman checking us in was great. No touch check in and told us the best place to park to easily access our room. Was also able to give great information for local restaurants. Sorry I didn't catch his name. Room was not as clean as I would have expected. Was surprised as this was the first time in a hotel since COVID and expected rooms to be much cleaner. Did not complain at desk as we were tired and just needed a comfy bed to sleep as we were leaving early the next morning. Beds and linens were clean and comfy. The front desk attendant in the morning seemed to be more interested to be on her phone and behind the wall and out of sight. Had to wait for several minutes to ask her for the appropriate lid for coffee cups. As a gesture of kindness, she put an added banana in our breakfast to go bag. Normally, I'd be very appreciative and grateful, however, during these strange times, I'd expect that she would not have handled food without gloves. Husband went back to desk to check out, but left after waiting 5 minutes for her to reappear. All in all, don't know if I'd stay again at this Florence location, or go another few exits to another La Quinta. read more

I was reluctant to stay here because of some recent bad reviews. This post is to correct that. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean. My room was well appointed, with clean towels and sheets, and at least two layers of mattress protection before the fitted sheet. All appliances and fixtures worked. The refrigerator had a freezer, which I often don't see in hotels anymore. I didn't see signs of bugs anywhere. The place is old, so there was some where and tear, but still very well-maintained. The breakfast bar is open to its pre-pandemic state, with no social distancing. There was no sign of any Covid precautions anywhere in the hotel. The housekeeping staff wore masks covering their chin only, and the front desk did not wear masks at all. It looks like they did sanitize the keys, but that's it. read more

We've stayed st 3 La Quinta's in the last month, many in the last several years with our dog(s). I'm sorry to say that the recent Wyndham purchase of their hotel chain seems to have severely lowered the quality of La Quinta. We were put in an ABA room, which we never mind, but there was no shower curtain. This was fixed by a very nice front desk person who was more than willing to be of service. The shower curtain, although clean, was too short, and water leaked all over the floor. The oatmeal at breakfast was more like soup, and the "dark roast" coffee sent me straight across the street to Dublin, as it was more like water. The apples were not wrapped and very mealy. And where is Wyndham's interest in sustainability? They provide Styrofoam cups, bowls and plates. I went back to my room to get the cardboard ones that are provided with in room coffee instead. There isn't even an effort to preserve towels by having guests leave hanging the ones they don't wash. This is not the La Quinta we know (we stayed in King's Dominion one last month--this used to be a nice hotel, now it's filthy). To boot, their prices are going up, quality going down, and they are now implementing a pet fee as of Dec 1 at this property. See ya! read more

Seems all right. They don't put the stinky never washer comforter on top of the beds. There's no smoking so that's nice. Ask for the military discount and any coupons for food. They are PET FRIENDLY NOW!!! They stay booked up so make sure if you're going to stop this was to go ahead and get a room because they go out quick!!! The shampoo and conditions was PanteneProV and it was good stuff. But just too small. Wish they left bigger bottles. Towels scratchy bed is stiff just the usual stuff ha know.
