Well I was having a horrible day when I got to the hotel. I walked in the door and was greeted by the sweetest young lady. I believe her name was Shelby. She reminded me so much of me when I was a child. She was very educated in the area and help me get mu my grandmother into our room. She went above and beyond when she didn't have to do so. I've stayed here previously, and had stellar service two years ago. I honestly can't say what happened, but this stay was rough at best. I'm not a fan of leaving negative reviews, but quite frankly, I was really disappointed in the customer service, stay, and not really seeing the Hilton brand reflected here. The positives: the hotel is clean, it is next to the beach, and it's quite walkable to many places to eat and drink. The negatives: the first night, my AC unit was making a super loud noise that wasn't normal, running very rough and either really hot or really cold. I asked the front desk the next morning if maintenance could take a look, and quite frankly, both were rather rude and direct and acted as if they didn't want to assist. I was very polite, they were not. From there, my door jammed and would not open, also didn't seem to want to help and I was a burden of a guest. From there, my second night, sheets were dropped in my room as if to change, however housekeeping did nothing nor stop by to ask if I'd like service. Of the three nights I was there, I had nothing when it's supposed to be every other day. Finally, as a Hilton Honors member, I selected the daily food and beverage credit in my account. It was initially applied as points and had to be refunded instead upon check out. I want to love this hotel so much because my past two business trips were so wonderful, I came back a third time for a weekend vacation and it was rough at best. read more

Wow! What a gorgeous and well-maintained Garden Inn!!! We're Diamond members, so we stay a lot Hilton properties and this one is solid. We travel with two retired service pups, they are true family members and go everywhere with us. We are currently on a bucket list trip for Mona as she has cancer. She said that she loves that our room is close to the rear dog area for bathroom breaks with potty garbage can, the towels are super fluffy from her hot bath after she swam in the ocean, that allow dogs on leash at the beach, and finally the bed...front desk provided a super soft sheet to lay on top of the bed. Sometimes I sleep with my parents and sometimes on my travel bed. This is a comfy mattress at this Hilton. Love, Mona read more

Worst hotel ever! We travel all around the world. This hotel is a disaster. From the moment we stepped into the lobby and greeted the front desk clearly with a greeting of hi, I just spoke with you on the phone this afternoon to extend our reservation-her reaction was I just came on at 3 you didn't talk to me! Well, yes I did at 4:15! To the disgusting carpet, filthy hallways and filth all around the hotel. There was dried spilled milk in the hallway across from our room-from day one to checkout four days later. I always wipe handles, door knobs, light switches, etc. The Clorox wipe was black. The mildew smell was beyond the norm for a beach room. Our room was never cleaned, the maid took our towels and never replaced them, the bedding g was pulled up across the bed but never made, trash never emptied. We usually stay at a hotel down the street but decided to try the Hilton. Shame on Hilton Hotels for letting this get so out of hand. read more

If I could give less than one star I would because of how we were treated. My wife and I reserved a room for two nights there two weekends ago as a getaway to both eat in Saint Augustine and drive down to Kennedy Space Center for a day. We had an uneventful 1st night in what was billed as a "quiet" room. looked like an old handicap room with a very narrow shower and tiny sink. Ok, no biggie... We get back from our day at the space center and hear what sounds like the shower is on. Nope - there was a steady stream of water coming from the light fixture itself - inside the shower. We have ten minutes to get to our dinner reservation - I call the desk and explain what's happening and the woman at the desk offers to clean up the water saying that maintenance has gone for the day... The noise was the issue - it kept us up all night, they never offered to move us, nor did they comp our sleepless night. I registered a corporate complaint with Hilton and they "thanked us for our patience"... I don't have that kind of patience when I'm paying well over $200 per night for a room we want only to sleep in when I'm using vacation time. Don't waste your time or money here, especially do not let yourself stay in room 231! read more

We arrived at check-in time. Our room was not ready for almost an hour. The staff were uncommunicative. The manager was defensive even though I was polite. They complained to me that they were under staffed. I get it. The manager said they'd give us a bit of something extra, which they never did of course. Towels were not ready in the room but they did bring them later. So that was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom smelled bad. There is no ventilator there, or window. It seems the p-traps aren't working. A sewer smell was pervasive the entire two night stay. Many outlets in the room were blocked up so they were unusable. The shower is very narrow. The floor drain worked, though, and the water was hot. There are fridges and microwaves in the room, which is nice. And a Keurig that was stocked well. The downstairs dining area was out of coffee both mornings we went down. The staff there were super friendly but I would never dream of ordering or eating there based upon what I saw. This is basically, sad to say, a hotel that is at a low point, and I'd never stay there again. It does nothing but besmirch the Hilton name. There are tons of better options (almost any other hotel I've stayed at) in the St. Augustine Anastasia Island. read more

Let's apply a bit of context to this property based on the current hotel environment. Right now is an odd time in the hospitality field. Rates are through the roof, staffing is a serious issue at a lot of places and standards are all over the place. Basically, within reason, anything goes. This place like the Hampton across the street are older properties. While the lobby is renovated and newish looking you get can see the age in things like the elevators, hallway carpets, emergency exit stairwells, the signs on the wall that say maid and some of the bathroom fixtures which are chipped-dinged-rusty-dingy. What works: The location is great if you're here for the beach. Sure the Hampton across the street is on the beach but this one is a two minute walk. The traffic on the A1A at times is like playing a game of Frogger but overall it's not that bad. If you're looking to be closer to the Historic Area there are several Hilton properties and tons of other choices right in the middle of that area. Everyday the hotel was very busy yet there was never an issue with parking. Their lot encircles the building and there are multiple entrances. Push: Housekeeping like every Hilton right now is by request only if you're looking for daily cleaning. For any other needs you need to hit up the front desk or stop a housekeeper in the hallway. I did for TP and towels without issue. Negative: Typical HGI breakfast right now doesn't exist here. It's basically a pre-pandemic Hampton spread. The same two two hot items were offered daily (scrambled eggs and bacon) that were in two large chafers that a member of the staff served. Note that hopefully you like your bacon extremely crispy because this stuff was cooked on Mercury. Pricewise it's $7 per person unless you're a Gold or Diamond member, then it's free for up to two people per room. I asked them about the F&B credit that Hilton is doing until the end of the year and the member of the desk I spoke with said that they're not participating and that the free breakfast is what they're doing for HH members with status. Leisure travel and occupancy/rates for tourist places and/or beach places are insane right now. That said, this HGI isn't a horrible option assuming that you didn't overpay and understand that what was offered with breakfast and housekeeping pre-pandemic is currently on indefinite hiatus. While not great, it's good enough and as of now we'll be back in a few weeks. read more

The location of this Hilton Garden Inn is great for visiting the beach by foot or making your way into Old Town by motor. Parking is free and there are no "resort fees". Unfortunately, unlike every other Hilton hotel I have stayed at during the pandemic the rooms are not certified sanitized. They missed the mark on giving their guests confidence in sanitization by wrapping remotes in plastic, supplying hand wipes for guests, etc. Also, unlike all of the other Hilton properties I've stayed at recently, absolutely no breakfast option is given. All the others at least hand you a bag with some water, fruit and a muffin or breakfast bar. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before staying here. read more

It's HILTON- I thought we would be set for a fabulous weekend on the beach! I love that HILTON is always in constant communication with you as far as reservations, confirmations, countdown to check- in, etc. Always on point for the brand! When we received our "morning of" email confirmation of our reservation we began our weekend adventure. Arrival: Can we check in early? No, room isn't ready. No problem so we came in to check in at regular time. They gave my husband the keys while I readied our belongings up to the room. When I opened the door to the room I immediately backed up and closed the door. Wrong room, We booked a KING JR SUITE and this was a tiny two queen standard room. No problem, I went back down to front desk to get it sorted. Front desk staff, "Amy": No ma'am you changed your reservation today to two-queen room. Today? While on the road driving- we most certainly did not. Well our system shows an "e-user" changed the room type Amy said. Now I think to my years with Hilton and the seamless communication they have with room changes, confirmations, any activity sending an email as well as an update in our Hilton Honors app notifying of the change. I didn't receive any emails, updates, changes, in fact, my confirmation number still shows my NONREFUNDABLE NO CHANGES RESERVATION for a King Jr Suite so she is certainly mistaken. Amy then says, "I am sorry we are fully booked I am unable to help you" and then literally asked the person behind me if she could help them- dismissing me upon her words. I was a bit perplexed and not wanting to cause a scene or hold up any guests, used the hilton honors app to call guest services to check in my reservation. I spoke with "Samantha" with guest services who informed us that no changes have been made to our reservation and that she was going to call the front desk here to straighten this out. Amy here told her that I changed the reservation earlier that day and there was no room available to move us to. Samantha got back on with me and apologized but there is nothing she could do. Ummm...nothing? Now that most certainly doesn't sound like the Hilton brand we know and love. "Samantha" said she could ask them to cancel our room here and move us literally across the street to their sister hotel the Hampton Inn. OK that would work. She then proceeded to tell me the change in price would be $500. I said I am sure Hilton will cover the room change as this was an error in their hotel staff. She said most certainly not, that if we wanted to make any changes we would have to pay for them with no price match, etc. I told her that was unacceptable and that Hilton needs to do something as we reserved a NONREFUNDABLE ROOM RATE and they changed our room without our knowledge. You know what happened next, Samantha hung up on me. Thier guest service center representative literally hung up on me. I then see the front desk staff whispering to each other as they look over in my direction. I believe they knew they were used for lying to us. I am such a reasonable person, had they simply said they had to/needed to/gave my room as an upgrade, etc. when we checked in we would have understood that 100%. Just the fact that we were lied to is what this was all about. Don't lie to your members. It's demeaning. So I started all over once again with the guest service center and it took another 30 minutes. This time we were told they investigated and we did not change our reservation and they apologized for the glitch on the hotel's end. We stayed at the hotel the nights we had booked, yes, in the small room we did not reserve because the beds are comfortable and the location was nice. The carpet was SO gross and the painters tape was still up in the bathroom, and oh did I mention free breakfast? I didn't? Oh- that's because they don't have any so go across the street to Island Donuts instead- way better anyway. Will we stay loyal to Hilton- yes. But to this crappy establishment where they lie to your face and make it out to be your fault. Absolutely not. People deserve to be treated with honesty. Period. read more

Let me start with the Pros; clean rooms, convenience to the beach and restaurants, comfortable bed, great water pressure in shower (we are weird about water pressure). Cons; place in need of upgrade! Mainly the carpet but our bathroom had serious signs of age. They do not offer daily maid service, which was fine with us but nowhere is it mentioned in the hotel, your room or when we checked it. In my opinion, that should be posted or mentioned to guests. Staff was fine. There was a few that were friendly but then there was a few that I don't think are cutout for the hospitality business. Full of black mold management is rude and not accepting of the fact they are are up with black mold then over charges you because she can. First and foremost they should state on their site when booking that they are NOT fully operational. They have amenities that are closed. When I asked when they would be opening I was told it would be up to corporate. I then told the staff I recently stayed at the HGI-Palm Coast which had its amenities open. The staff then went to change their story that they were recently under renovation and they weren't fully operational then. Which also should've been posted. For the hotel to have been recently renovated I couldn't tell. The floors were dirty, the area around the a/c was nasty, and there were ants in my shower. The walls are paper thin, I could hear my neighbors arguing one night. Save your money and stay down the road at the Marriott or across the street at the Hampton. read more

Receptionist was extremely nice and personable. However, way too optimistic and cheerful about the condition of this "remodel-in-process". We were never able to get to our first assigned room, due to the locked door to the hallway. The hallway had the carpeting ripped up, construction debris, partially painted walls, etc. They should close the hotel during their remodeling, IMHO. Or at least continue to vacuum and maintain the rest of the hotel. Our second room's hallways were also dirty, and some light bulbs were burnt out, etc. Our room looked nice, but, smelled of mold, the carpet was damp, etc. We found a MUCH nicer hotel for the same price in Jax. I should have read the other reviews. This was the worst Hilton I have ever stayed in. Dirty, rude staff, overprice. Our room was not feather-free as requested despite this being on our reservation and calling to ensure it was being done. Our floor was so sticky even after they "recleaned" it. My husband ended up washing it three times. The white towel he used was blackened by all the dirt. My request to talk to the general manager went unanswered. She was "too busy" to talk to me. The hotel was physically appealing. The area is nice as well, although it's a bit out of the way to downtown St. Augustine. Publix, and a couple of restaurants are in the same area, so you can walk to them. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was $160 a night and we were upgraded to a suite for free (Hilton Honors Member). The suite was large - a seating area, desk, TV, sink. A hallway lead to a large bathroom. The tub was peeling a little, but overall the bathroom was in good shape. The bedroom was fine, but the cooling unit was in a small closet in the bedroom and it was very noisy. They have adjustable beds, which allows you to have a firmer or softer mattress. I don't feel that my bed was working properly. Having a balcony was nice, but there was no view from our room. I liked that there was a hot tub, but the pool area and pool itself were small, so it became crowded very quickly. read more

I stayed here for 3 nights and found the accommodations to be fine. This hotel is right across from the beach and about 10 minutes form downtown Saint Augustine. To me, this is the perfect location. Upon arriving we were greeted and were able to get to our room fairly quickly. Sometimes when staying in hotels the elevators take forever, but not here; the elevator was working just fine and I didn't have to wait long at all. Our room was easy to find and when we walked in it was cool and appeared clean. We had to ask for extra towels and they were at our door within minutes. The housekeeping staff were friendly and did a great job. We stayed for breakfast one morning, but I wasn't a fan. I think they had a nice idea with the buffet, but there isn't that much to choose from. I would have preferred a continental breakfast. The service was fine and the food was okay, but I was not that impressed with the choices for a $9 meal. Overall, this is a nice hotel with good customer service. I would stay here again if needed. read more

My review of this property is entirely influenced by my experience within seconds of walking in the front door. Apparently, the person manning the desk when I arrived doesn't normally perform front-desk duties since, as I was about ten steps short of the desk, she says, in a very direct way, "I hope you don't want to check in!" No hello, no welcome to the hotel, nothing remotely befitting of the hospitality industry - like nothing I've ever experienced before. Fortunately, I had already checked in using the Hilton app, so all she had to do was provide me with the room keys, but when I had a question about my room rate, she was unable to answer it, instead telling me to just take care of things at check-out. (Just FYI, others from my group staying at the hotel had a very similar experience when checking in a little bit later that same day, so this wasn't a one-off.) Partially offsetting this experience was the fact that I was upgraded to a very spacious suite that included a small kitchenette, a separate bedroom, and a whirlpool inside the bathroom. The housekeeping staff was very nice, and the rooms were well-maintained. I didn't eat at the property, but I did notice that their breakfast buffet has a 'made to order' station where you could get omelets and pancakes. Less than a month after this cool hotel's Lobby Renovation I find myself staying here. Key Cards and express checkout. The rooms (basic) are complete and so comfortable with Microwave and coffee maker on the Counter next to the bed at foyer and Refrigerator under the Counter. I watched movies after bring a pizza back from Mellow Mushroom pizza restaurant towards town but still on the island. My small pizza box fit (barely though) into this Refrigerator so I couls keep my leftovers cold overnight. The pool was so lovely at night that I took a picture of it. (See Photo). A good nearby restaurant that you can easily walk to from this hotel is called "The Salt Life" restaurant. Salt Life has fire pit coffee tables on its downstairs patio which faces highway A1A. Do check out the Hilton Garden accomodations. I would have rated this hotel a 4 but when I called the hotel on the telephone a little over a week after my stay because I thought I may have lost something there I was not given professional service and, in fact, I was mocked on the phone for asking whether the hotel had found my driver license. read more

My poor cousin broke out in a rash from the dust mites Hilton Garden Inn in St. Augustine. EW! She had to go to urgent care because her reaction was so bad. We showed the dr note to the hotel manager, but Krista Gora dgaf. Clean your rooms. They did nothing to help us and didn't care that my cousin became sick because of their dirty rooms. They essentially called us liars, saying they sent pest control into the room after we left and didn't find anything. Of course you didn't find anything! You changed the sheets after we complained the first time we complained and got new sheets. My cousin took benadryl and feel asleep, but when she woke up the rash had exploded and we had to go to urgent care so she would get a steroid shot. She wound up having a bad reaction from that, too, and needed medicine to treat the nausea. We were supposed to have a fun girls' day in St. Augustine but it got ruined. This is an unremarkable motel in a good location for the beach, but a bad location for St. Augustine's historic district. The building itself is clean, has a tiny pool, is on a very busy road A1A, and had very friendly service. They had a better breakfast than most (which I did not have but only saw), and it included made to order one target than the typical powdered eggs. Although it costs $10 per adult. I prefer this approach because I'm tired of having breakfast included in my bill when the food is usually no better than lowsy and my family really eats it. Although the hotel is not on the beach, it is only one block from the beach and a large pier. Don't stay here if you want to visit the historic district. The traffic back into town is heavy getting over the two lane Lions Bridge. And parking in town is really difficult. read more

Rooms are full of mold. We reserved 2 rooms. We're told all they could do was give a one night refund. That ha snot happened and we were charged more than what we reserved our stay for. After moving 3 times we finally were able to get a room with no mold. They cover the mold with spackle after spraying with mold and mildew remover. We have contacted health department about this problem since General Manager Tracey didn't seem to be concerned with the mold issue. read more

Very disappointed in this hotel . It's an old building with minimal upgrades. Our AC was leaking all over the carpet the first night. I told the desk and they had maintenance come out in the morning to "fix" it . The guy took it all apart, shop vacuumed the rug and said it was all fixed. The second night the unit did not cool the room. Our in room fridge did not cool either. I let the desk know at checkout. They tried to get us a new room but was unable to so they offered me a discounted rate which I accepted then when I received my bill, I was surprised to see they only discounted one night. This was not what they told me because I specifically asked if they were discounting both nights and they said yes. The desk staff was friendly and tried their best to accommodate us but I was very disappointed that they billed me for more than they said they were going to bill me for. read more

They didn't clean the room on the first day, and they didn't replace any of the coffee supplies. For the entire three days that we were there. We stayed for three days but the first two days Friday and Saturday it was $522 just for two nights. So for that level of payment I would've expected at least to have our room cleaned. And that rate did not include breakfast. We decided to extend our stay for Monday and include breakfast and there was a very inapt lady named Evelyn at the front desk. We showed her the rate on Expedia and asked if she could meet it and she said no and we said that would be fine with booking on Expedia. Then she said well I will meet that rate and we double checked that it would include breakfast. The next morning of course we went to breakfast and they tried to charge us $30. Just a hassle. Typically I like staying at the Hilton Garden Inn but this one I would not recommend. read more
