Nice but not for light sleepers. Rooms were fine, service fine, above average gym. Pool was closed. This place is so convenient for work but I am a light sleeper and the noise from the bar/restaurant is very distracting while trying to work in my room and prevents an earlier bedtime if noise bothers you. Open atrium means every room in the place is exposed to the noise. Not relaxing. It's not the staff's fault, it's just the (poor) design of the building. Wish the staff would shut the bar down by 10 or have an enclosed area for later hours. read more

The rooms are nice and swanky with the requisite number of outlets one expects in 2018 and a large desk. Air conditioning a bit weak. Parking is free, but inconvenient, at the bottom of a hill, with an uphill trudge to the hotel. There's a shuttle through the hellish Tyson's traffic to the mall, but it stops at 10:30, so don't use it for nightlife. The main problem with the hotel is the open atrium architecture. This 1970s standard is nicely update architecturally, but part of that is that they've put a fancy bar smack in the middle of everything, it's open until 2am, and they have done nothing to dampen the noise, which is fully audible at the far end of the room even with the AC fan on full blast. So it's not acceptable as a business hotel or as any kind of hotel if you don't plan on carousing until 2am. There are a handful of rooms on side wings, and some are far enough away to not hear the bar. If you insist on those, or you're an alcoholic who doesn't need sleep, it's a 4-star hotel. The hotel is in a kind of secluded area which is a good thing because it's far from the traffic around Tyson's corner mall. It wasn't really hard to find which was good. From the outside, the building looked decent. Pros: - Free parking lot - Beautiful interior and furniture. - Service was great and caring. - An entertainment room/ section was available in the lobby. - Convenient bar in the middle of the lobby. You can see it right when you walk in. - There was a convenience store next to the check in area. - The whole design of the building was beautiful because you could see the lobby from every single floor. - The room was beautiful and spacious with a window side couch. - The door for the bathroom was very nice and innovative. - Quiet and peaceful hotel. - Decent price for the quality of the hotel. Cons: - The bathroom was quite small. - There was only one restaurant in the whole hotel. - The automatic revolving doors go too fast sometimes. Absolutely *love* this hotel. It is my home away from home. I felt this way even before it's recent remodel. So I love it even more now :). I have been here many, many times. At first I would stay here for the workout area...also has a pool where you can swim laps. Treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, free weights, a few key machines, exercise balls, etc. Could work out here for hours ... Rooms are very nice. Really like the beds, sheets (so soft), lots of electrical outlets to charge your many digital devices. Used to get two bottles of water and free internet, but for some reason didn't get it the last time I stayed there. Guess I dropped in my status :(. Oh well, I still enjoy staying here. Room service is great (prompt and hot and nicely presented food). Their restaurant is also very good, but I have not tried their buffet. Over all, I haven't been disappointed with their servicen and have really enjoyed each stay here. read more

I've been here three times now with a consistent good experience. This place is wonderfully priced for a weekend trip, always somewhere between $100 and less than $150/night. Walking distance to the metro, though not really super conveniently walking-close to eat/drink places, though of course you could use the hotel bar and room service (but that's not why I came here trying to safe money). My fiancé and I were interested in a venue for our wedding here. We dealt with one of the most disrespectful, passive aggressive, and dismissive event planners we have dealt with during our wedding planning. Her name was Joanne. From the moment she came out to the lobby to pick us up, we immediately could tell she was either in a bad mood, or ready to pass us up and avoid any business agreement. We avoided an initial offered meet up date because of a pre-existing event they would've simultaneously had, but when we arrived to our officially booked meet up date, the venue was packed and there was still an ongoing event occuring. We could barely hear anything as we were discussing the event and the venue. She escorted us to a dimly lit hallway with individuals carrying chairs and taking apart tables. We caught her in numerous lies regarding pre-existing bookings and prices and when confronted, she was unapologetic and once again dismissive. We decided to cut the meeting short. We will be contacting the Director at this specific location. read more

Let me begin by saying, the Hilton McLean is undergoing a complete renovation, and it is overdue. At the desk clerk told me, "we are performing plastic surgery, not botox". I've stayed here 25-30 times and keep coming back even though I can stay at the Marriott or the Ritz Carlton. It is very conveniently located and I love the gym. The McLean Hilton is a corporate Hilton and the headquarters is two buildings down. The staff has always been exceptional at accomodating my picky needs and went out of their way to assist me and correct things when I had a less-than-par stay (one time). Their management staff is highly visable, which I don't often see when traveling. I haven't eaten in the restaurant in a few months and, for the most part, it was very good. I am a Hilton Diamond member, so I always received a free breakfast buffet -- normal cost was $20. The buffet was top-notch with a healthy theme. If you are looking for pancakes and eggs, go to IHOP. This buffet is the type I dream of: smoked salmon, Odwalla protein drinks, grains, tons of berries, a whole lot of goodness. My only complaint was always the coffee, which was not very good. I think the buffet is "on hold" during the renovation, as they have opened the concierge lounge to Gold and Diamond members for a Continental Breakfast (with Starbuck's Coffee). Rooms: they need a lot of attention. When I was there last week, they began to close off the back wing for the renovation. I typically get a room on the 7th floor, which is known as the "tower". The rooms were much nicer and away from the noise of the atrium. I received upgrades to Jr. Suites from time to time, which is a very nice gesture if I'm staying the entire week. I'm not sure what they will do with the bathroom when the rooms are completed...they are small and I' can't see how they can become bigger. The pool is the nicest in the McLean area and the fitness center is brightly lit with 4 treadmills plus bikes and ellipticals. They have several pieces of fitness machines and a Smith-like machine. I really miss some of their old machines, which were replaced with the new equirment last fall. Parking is free and well lit. They run shuttles in the Tysons Corner area, including to both malls. For McLean, prices are reasonable. My corporate rate is $189 compared to Marriott at $229 and the Ritz at $289. I know this sounds expensive, but that is the going rate. I'm looking forward to what the hotel looks like upon completion. read more

Overall a very comfortable stay. The kids enjoyed the pool and it was a very nice size. The parking is very tough, because of the limited space. There was an event at the hotel when we stayed. 30% of the parking lot was blocked off for valet parking. There are 9 floors so if your room is on one of the higher floors, you will not be bother by the noise from the lobby and the lobby bar. The kids enjoyed the elevator ride to our room. We didn't eat at the hotel even though our room included 2 free continental breakfast. According to the meal coupon, If you wanted to upgrade to hot breakfast, there was an additional $7 charge per person. So we figured that for a family of 4, we can be spending $60 for breakfast. That was too much and definitely not very inviting. The hotel is close to Tyson's Corner so it is very convenient for shopping. FYI: It is about a 16 - 20min drive into the DC for site seeing during none rush hour. read more

The biggest remark I'd say is the client service it varies depending on who you get, I unintentionally tested this in 6 occasions and 3 on the phone and 3 in person. all phone calls were unhelpful and inflexible. In person I had the same issue be addressed at different time and all 3 gave me different answers and only 1 was willing to help with the issue and was very nice. She didn't give us anything free I want to be clear that is not the reason why I'm writing this, but she offered a solution that solved my problem. I normally like the Hilton Brand but not this time. 1st room (327) the thermostat showed 76 degrees and wouldn't adjust or lower the temperature after hours of being in the room on a hot day. The room was hot!! Hilton put me in another room (277) and I woke up at 7am to ants on the nightstand beside my head crawling on eyeglasses, cell phone, etc. I checked out at that time even though I was supposed to be meeting up with others for breakfast at 10:30. Hilton provided $50 off which I do not think was fair compensation for 2 inconveniences such as this!! I would never stay there again. The rooms are great, but the inconsistent service means I will stay elsewhere when I'm back in the area. This hotel reminded me why I'm typically SPG-loyal: it's beautiful but the service is inconsistent. Such an easy thing to get right! Bellhops are lovely but the front desk staff are cold -- way to blow a first impression. I was not greeted by the front desk staff who checked me in, wasn't given directions to the elevators (it's a large hotel), the flowers at the desk needed to be replaced a couple days ago, and I had to ask why the charge to my card was significantly higher than the rate I had booked (cc hold). Every time I called for information either there was a lengthy hold or no answer. On busy nights it seems like the bar is under-staffed. I had the burger and it was decent, but the wine list is over-priced, so much so the glass price is roughly the retail cost of the bottle. The room is large, clean, and has good sunlight, but I would rather trade on amenities and go somewhere I feel welcome. read more

I really enjoyed my stay here - the hotel was beautiful and the bed was comfy. I chose this location because it was right near an event I was attending and the rates were awesome. The breakfast buffet at Harth was delicious! Soo many goodies to choose from! My only beef is the shuttle service. The driver said, when you are ready, call us and we'll come get you from the metro station. Sweet - so I call and the lady tells me it would be an hour. Umm... yea, so thats not what the driver said.... well its an hour. Ok - I took the bus. If staying here, I would suggest a rental car, as making your way to the metro can be a pain and further than youd like to walk - thats for sure - in addition an uber from the city can be pretty expensive. read more

My husband and I decided to escape reality for a night and stay at a hotel. By the end of the night, I was just wishing I was home. There is a bar/lounge that is in the center of all the rooms. It doesn't close until 11:30 pm and there was a party going on so it was VERY loud. I was kept up until midnight. Additionally, we had a room that had a door connecting to the neighboring room. We were able to hear everything the people in the next room were talking about, and the best part was it was at 1:35 in the morning, so I was awoken again. Overall, I left extremely tired and irritated. We will not be staying here again. I'd like to mention that when I complained to the front desk as I was checking out, I was offered free coffee. This is, by far, the worst Hilton I have ever stayed in. When we arrived we figured it would be the best (since there is a Hilton International office building right next to it). The staff was extremely rude. They refused to let our food delivery come up, even escorted. They also refused to even call us to let us know that the delivery driver had arrived. They lied to us about the metro stop they they pick up at. They told us they would pick us up at the one that was closest, which made sense. Then when we called for a pickup they said they would not pick us up unless we went back to another one that was about a mile farther away. The bar/restaurant hours are horrible. They do not even serve breakfast at normal hours, especially on the weekends. The shuttle tells you that they will only drive one mile away, even though the pamphlet in the room says three miles. I reported these issues to Hilton, and was told that the GM of the hotel would contact us to make it right. That never happened. We never even received a call from the front desk to say they were sorry. All in all, the worst hotel stay in my life. Motel 6 would be preferable to this Hilton. read more

I have been a Hilton Brand hotels fan for years. I am even currently a Gold member and just shy of Platinum. However, Hilton hotels have gotten way too expensive now. So, I have decided to no longer stay at their hotels. We even have a corporate discount that used to be really good. But now when you put in our code, the price is "higher" than the regular rate! Shame on Hilton as this is just an insult to me as they think I'm dumb enough not to check prices!!!! Again, I will no longer book a Hilton Brand hotel. This hotel was awesome! We were looking for a hotel near DC and this worked really well! It was a 20 minute drive there, pretty easy. There were plenty of restaurants to shop at right around the hotel. Location was great. Rate was $89 a night for Saturday to Monday. Our only problem was the pool. It was freezing! Do they even heat that room? It was so cold in there! We were looking at room service, but clearly we are not their intended audience. $18.00 for an omelet? I'm good. I'll go out and find a buffet where we can all eat for $18. This hotel was nice, clean and convenient. Best part? It was only $20 or so more than the "cheap" hotels. Normally we stay at the cheapest hotel we can, but this was worth the money. read more

I stayed here while my boyfriend was working nearby and I was off work, the hotel chosen due to the proximity to his workplace. I rarely stay in Hilton's, favouring the SPG brand, Marriott as a second choice (I spend around 100 nights a year in hotels for work) and this stay reminded me why I avoid Hiltons. The lobby may be impressive, but with an open ceiling right to the roof, with each floor balcony overlooking the lobby, this means that the noise from the bar can be heard in the rooms late into the evening which is not ideal. The room also lacks some of the normal conveniences you find in hotels such as free water. Furthermore, I was disappointed to learn that the pool does not open until 5pm! Seeing as there are sun loungers outside by the pool it would have been a nice place for me to spend my day (especially when there is nowhere else to go within walking distance) but this was not to be. Other gripes include not being able to get a coffee in the early afternoon when I tried - the bar does not open until 3pm (as I stood waiting 10 minutes for service not one member of staff at the concierge/ front desk, who were watching me cared to point this out until I enquired) and the coffee machine in the restaurant was being cleaned so couldn't be used! Yes the shuttle is a good addition as it means you are able to get places, given there is nothing within walking distance, but be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes for a return once you call, bear this in mind and call in advance of when you want to leave. Overall I would not recommend this hotel and will be returning to SPG as soon as I can!! read more

We are Diamond members and stay at the Tyson's location frequently. We booked the reservation in advance for one night on 1/21/22 to fly out the next day from Dulles. The front desk attendant couldn't find our reservation in the system and had us submit a second reservation through the app and made us wait 15 minutes to see if the reservation came through the system. We drove all the way up in the snow from Newport News and were exhausted. The attendant should've given us a room right away instead of making us go through this mess. Well, the second reservation also didn't show in the system and then we were finally given a suite that we normally reserve after enduring that fiasco. The attendant also requested we leave him a good review since he gave us a suite. Like that's supposed to make things better? When we got to the room we called front desk to request a late check out and were immediately told to be on hold before we could even say a word. We were placed on hold for 7 minutes. I believe it was the same guy who we spoke with at the front desk. This was very disappointing. We've enjoyed our stay in the past but never greeted with such indifference and lack of customer service. Just unacceptable not only because we are diamond members, but no customer should be attended like we experienced. We expect your organization to make this right! read more

First time staying here, because I live close by. I love the modern decor in the lobby and rooms. The store has a big variety of snacks, very nice. And I love the restaurant (see my review). The room was clean and modern and beautiful. Down 1 star because the bed was too hard for me. Free shuttle to metro (and other nearby locations), free jar of bacon jam with yelp check-in. The reservations team at the hotel itself are just so rude. We understand that you're in an upscale area but the attitude is extremely unnecessary especially for guests who are willing to book. Their pet policy is not correct. The only acceptable pets are cats and dogs. No other type of pet is allowed even if it's completely contained in its traveling cage. When I called for clarification on the above the lady couldn't be bothered to use many words to answer my questions. Instead she just gave me "uh huh yeah" "hmm" as responses. Called in yesterday to get some reservations for a few people I know, and the customer/guest service individuals were rushed on the phone and pretty rude. They told me to basically go online and make reservations and to only call them if I need to make changes. I told them my friends are on a flight how could they make reservations, then they put me on hold, return, and say "unfortunately the only way to make reservations are through a licensed travel agent or going online to the Hilton website, or through one of their contracted website venders" so why on earth, are they called "Guest Service/Customer Service" When I ask to speak to the manager, the person says they are the manager. That is one rude manager, who has a bad tone of voice, extremely rushing, and very unprofessional. read more

Very nice. Well done. I've stayed at plenty of luxury hotels on business travel. I seldom leave feeling it was worth some multiple times the rate on the Courtyard or something else midrange nearby. I was naturally skeptical paying $300 night to stay here. A few blocks off Central Park. OK, I understand. $300 in Tysons?? Did I just luck into a totally-bad-rate day? Yet ... the Hilton delivered. Large, clean, well maintained fitness club with lots of machines. Nice details in the room - high thread count sheets, down comforter, and comfy bed. Drinkable in-room brew, with actual half & half instead of powder (first time I've experienced that luxury!). Outstanding Hilton property. Stayed here with the Mrs on our way around DC. I've driven past this place literally hundreds of times always thinking it looks pretty awesome. Unfortunately, during the week, the rates are out of my personal ballpark. Fortunately, the weekend rate is quite reasonable so i finally got my wish. Friends have stayed her and we hung out. The place is awesome. I recently attended Yelp's Fire & Ice Ball at the hotel. The front door crew was awesome. The lobby staff was nice. The front lobby is a work of art. The front bar is worth a visit alone. We enjoyed the private space for Elite's. The flatbread was yummy. The ballrom was spacious and organized (thanks Yelp!). It's going to be a nice enough hotel. It is undergoing renovation. A good location for me, since I was only 10 minutes away from my conference. I really didn't get a chance to sample the rest of the hotel's amenities. I do know it had a decent gym and swimming pool. You can see them from the back side of the hotel--now the front during the renovation. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between this hotel and the one I stayed in Annapolis Junction the night before. Except this one cost more than $80 more per night, doesn't have wifi included and this one had old CRT-style 27" televisions. Positives: The room was really clean, even though the carpet and furnishings looked a bit worn. The bed was very comfortable. A huge plus: You can't hear the 495 Beltway and its hellish trench warfare traffic, even though the hotel is right next to it. I suspect the hotel was built before McLean became the center of the US public-private partnership. This is something I didn't notice until I was leaving...the doormen NEVER held the door for me or offered to carry my bags. I saw them do so for other clients. We usually stay at the Ritz Carlton when in town for business, but we booked too late, so stayed here. And.... our first time here was NOT a dissapointment. The room was immaculate. So clean and fresh and well appointed. Business center downstairs was amazing. A few rows of computers and printers free to use. Purchased Nationals tickets online, printed boarding passes.....easy! We were joking that if we had kids with us we could leave them in this area with all the free Internet and huge TV screen as a babysitter :D Cleaning staff never harassed us early in the morning and I could never even hear people in the hallways it was the quietest hotel room I've ever been in...especially for a loud business happy hour time lobby! Could never hear a thing. But somehow my room was always perfect and clean when I came back, even if I left the room in the afternoon. I never had to call housecleaning to let them know I was leaving and to come clean up. Oh, and I loved the Peter Thomas Roth toiletries ! I usually don't take home the extra hotel free bath stuff, but I sure did this time. So ladies....don't bother even packing all that stuff ! We had one problem with the shuttle services and the taxis available at the hotel, but the Guest Services Manager, Walter Escobar, went above and beyond to correct he issue. It was very pleasant to get such a fantastic response from the Hotel Staff. We will not be going to the Ritz anymore when we are in VA. The Hotel and the Staff won us over. Wireless internet works well - the staff texts you the log in info so you don't have to interpret someone's handwritten instructions on the back of a room key folder. There was an incident where I was harassed by another guest and the hotel responded with "you're not obligated to stay here, we can't make you stay.. you can just leave and stay elsewhere" rather than addressing the situation and finding an actual solution. Best hotel. I'm spoiled now. Nothing compares. It's spotless and the staff is impeccible. From Josef at the front desk, George behind the bar, Solomon waiting tables to Tyler pouring over coffee. I so look forward to every visit. My husband and oldest son joined me on a business trip. We dined in the lounge while my son put Legos together. We ordered from the Harth menu. It was excellent. My son devoured his meatballs. They offered to make him just about anything, rattling off options that weren't even on the menu. They really take excellent care of their guests. read more

I made a reservation for 8/16 to have a place to stay after a concert. Unfortunately the concert was canceled. I contacted this hotel as soon as I learned of the cancellation and was told they are not able to offer any refunds however we could change to a new date. I tried today making a new reservation and was told they are not able to do that. I find this to be very poor customer service and I would use caution staying here and only book if you are 500% sure you will be staying. read more

Anyone can have a bad day. A hotel rating should be based on the entirety of the property not based on a single bad experience with one person. I have stayed here repeatedly and while I don't love everyone on this staff, I do like most of them. One of the bellman needs an attitude adjustment but I am not going to let it bother me. The restaurant, bar, rooms, and overall service are excellent. I wish they still had that little gift shop and a proper business center but these are small things. Highly impressed with this hotel. Came here for a weekend workshop, which means I was stuck in this hotel for the entire weekend. As soon as I walked through the rather fast-revolving doors, I was greeted by friendly porter. Employees at the front desk were equally friendly and always ready to help when I had questions. The hotel seemed recently renovated, everything looks new and clean. The lobby was beautiful and quiet. What I was most impressed with was the food. I've been somewhat snobby about hotel food in general, but not only did I see good variety during my stay, it was also well-prepared and the chef is obviously a fan of seasonal eating, because a lot of the dishes features beautiful fall produce. There's even an organic herb garden! Will come back in a heartbeat! Bonus: there's a free shuttle between the hotel and Tyson's corner, a humongous shopping mall nearby. read more
