I don't understand how this place has five stars.... It was a Friday evening and my husband wanted to try this place for dinner. So we arrived there by 7.45 to 8ish pm. The staff was quick n seated us comfortably. It took a while to take our orders as all the tables were full. We ordered a panner appetizer, which was served on a sizzling plate. This was good, right amount of spices which was coated well to all the panner pieces. Next we got a portion of Hakka noodles, the indo Chinese style. This sucked, horribly oily and we just couldn't eat it! They asked about it and dint bother to make a new one! Annoying! Lastly we got one Himalaya special naan. This read so yummy n I badly wanted to taste it so ordered only the naan. Sad, the filling was so less just felt like eating a plain naan.... Even the check took a while n with the wrong one. A little more Himalayan ambiance - perhaps some music, better decor, better lighting, a menu without so many spelling and grammatical errors... actually I take that last one back. :) But this was great Indian food... some of the best in the area that I've had, and I'm proud to say this one is right in my backyard, with all due respect to Haveli, Taste of India, Utsav, etc. $17.95 gets you what I will refer to as the "Indian Sampler," and everything was smashing. Mulligatawny soup, a Meat Samosa, Chana Masala, Lamb and Chicken curry, Naan, Basmati rice, a Tandoori Chicken leg, and a buncha other stuff I can't even remember. Way more than enough food. And if you're a veggie, there's a vegetarian version which swaps out all the meat for the sentient being parts. We got a Mango Lassi on the house. I really like this place and I hope it does well! It's a nice addition to the Berlin area. In particular, the service is very friendly, attentive, and helpful. I enjoyed almost every dish we tried. The highlight for me was definitely the garlic naan---so garlicky and crisped to perfection! It was one of the best naan breads I've had. I also loved the lamb biryani. It had great spices and was super flavorful. We also had the mughlai murgh chicken, a nice mild and creamy curry. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the slightly overpriced paneer pakora appetizer. Finally, we finished with delicious kheer (spiced rice pudding) as a complimentary dessert...a very nice touch. I could eat Indian food everyday. And now that Himalaya has come to town, I just might! So. Much. Yumminess. Hubby and I decided to get take out and enjoy our dinner at home. Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted and my order was ready to go. The price was very reasonable for our large order. The restaurant itself was inviting and comfortable, next time we'll dine in. The vegetable samosas were a perfect start to the meal as were the onion bhajia. Tasty little apps, I must say. We both ordered the chicken tikka masala (mild for him, medium for me). It was the best I've ever had. Perfect tender chunks of chicken and just enough heat. The naan bread and rice were perfect for soaking up the delicious sauce. And the dessert...Oh, the dessert. I had the gulab janum (cheese nall dipped in sugar syrup) and ras malai (home style cream cheese patties served in a sweet cream sauce flavored with cardamom and garnished with pistachios) Both were delightfully sweet and light, just the right size after a big meal. Food was great.. I usually go for the goat curry hot. The chicken tandoori was also good, especially for the kids. My wife did the sample, and that was a very nice option to sample a bunch of things. Chicken Tikka is great. Tandoori chicken is awesome. Bhaigan bharta is excellent. I've had the stuffed naan, mango lasse, hakka noodles, chicken biryani and it was all excellent! This isn't one of the place that is crowded but this is a place of pure delicious food ! I have been here thrice and the papad and tomato soup are always the best I have ever had in any of the restaurants I have been in the US. The staff is very friendly and polite. The cook introduces himself once in a while to check if he is making justice to the taste of what we ordered.. the best place for a very hungry tummy at anytime! I have dined in and taken out several times over the last couple of years. The service and quality has been consistently good. The staff is super nice and attentive. They have a nice buffet lunch that is a great way for those not familiar with the cuisine to sample different dishes. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the ambience and decor is somewhat lacking. The layout of the space is odd although the space is large and there is plenty of seating. I have tried many of the vegetarian entrees and all have been good. Most are served with perfectly cooked white Basmati rice. A couple of favorites are the Aloo Gobi (potatoes & cauliflower) & Baighan Bharta (eggplant). For appetizers I have tried the vegetable samosas (not the best I've had..I think it may have been the oil they were fried in) and the vegetable pokora which were good. The vegetable dal soup is good and my daughter's favorite is the chicken Biryani. Portions are good-often enough for two meals. They are most accommodating with the level of spice you desire. Prices are reasonable. Great option in a town not known for its diverse cuisines. read more

Went here based on yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. I should preface by saying that we did only order naan and chicken tikka masala dinners, and if you mess up tikka masala as an Indian restaurant you should probably consider another line of business, lol. Anyway, the masala sauce was very flavorful and creamy. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh. The chicken breast falls apart, it's very good quality. The naan was a tad underdone, but the flavor and quality of it made it delicious. I also loved that they included complimentary papadum and mint/tamarind sauce. I ordered from this restaurant on Ubereats because my normal restaurant was closed. The price was a little higher compared to where I usually go but that was fine with me until the food got here. I ordered two chicken tikka masalas and received one small container of sauce (essentially watered down tomato sauce) with two pans that had a small portion of spices chicken LOADED with raw onion and lemon to make it look fuller. I also ordered garlic naan which was the same price as most Indian restaurants however this place gives you a single piece of naan whereas other restaurants give you a few pieces of the same size for the same price. My Galub Jamun seemed like it had been sitting out on a counter drying out for a week and my $5 ras malai came in a tiny Dixie sample cup. I'm honestly shocked that they think it's appropriate to price their food this high and give people next to nothing. I also called because I was confused about the one small cup of "tikka sauce" thinking they forgot to put one in and I was screamed at by the man on the phone. It's fine if they want to give people such a small portion for 2 servings but don't make your prices $16 for each. Absolutely will never get food from here again and recommend that you don't either, there are plenty of great Indian restaurants to choose from. read more

Wonderful Indian food. There is one or two I do like better but this gets the nod for being close and offering delivery. Their buffet offers the usual fare and it good enough. I love their chicken dishes but I love for buffets just so I can try many different things. I've even orders takeout to bring over to the playground for and adult picnic while the kids played. read more

As a surprise, our waiter brought us some delicious coconut custard as a complimentary dessert. I went to Himalaya restaurant today to puck up dinner for myself. I ordered butter chicken and garlic naan. The food only took about 10 minutes to be ready for puck up and included some additional sauces and papadum. I also got a free cup of rice pudding. We ordered a take out order and when we went to pick up, one of the items had been doubled and we were charged for it. When we told them we had only ordered 1 they insisted we had ordered two and would not remove the item from the bill. He refused to credit us and turned away from us.
