My daughter loves Namaste India, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the lamb, goat, and chicken dishes. While the chicken and lamb were flavorful and well-prepared, I was particularly looking forward to the goat. Unfortunately, the goat dish was a letdown--mostly bones with very little meat, which made it less enjoyable than I had hoped. On a positive note, the sides complemented the main dishes nicely, adding some balance to the meal. However, the experience left me wishing for more consistency in the quality of the dishes, especially given how much I was looking forward to trying the goat. Great Friday night dinner here. It's been years since we were in the area but it's as good as ever! Delicious food, (mostly) friendly staff ... our specific server was kind of grumpy and sullen it maybe he had a bad day. The rest of the staff were wonderful! I was looking for indian cuisine near where I live and I came across this spot. We went in 2 hrs before it closed on a Sunday night. We were seated very quickly. The server was very attentive and checked on us quite frequently. We ordered the lentil soup (delicious even for my partner who is not a soup person), naan, chicken masala, lamb, veggie balls and tea. Everything was exceptional, received our food quickly, quality was there even with fast service, very tasty and authentic as I've dined at multiple different Indian cuisines across the US. As for spice they have 4 levels. I love spice as hot as the sun so I would say I could have had it spicer but my partner said it was just right for spice. Price is very reasonable and within market pricing. For two apps, two entree and a drink it was under $65. You also get a lot for what you pay for. Atmosphere is nice for family setting, private dinner, etc. they have music playing in the background and the decor is very nice as well. This is my brothers go-to Indian restaurant so I thought I would give it a shot! I had the appetizer Rajasthani Chicken Kabab it was very good I liked that you could order it really spicy, and not too salty at all which I appreciate. It was a little dry though (sidenote I did order super late at night). Also shared the samosas. Two come in and order, and trust me you do not need more than one, maybe two if you're really hungry! They are absolutely huge, like the size of my palm. I did taste the curry, it is very good, less saucy than other places but a lot of meat. It come in a pint size container with a side of rice. My favorite local Indian food spot- luckily for me, it is close to my job. I always get the chicken tikka masala, served with rice. An order of samosas is a must- get more than 1 order if you intend to share! I always get a mango lassi. I switch between regular naan and garlic naan, depending on my mood. This has been the most consistent Indian restaurant I've had in CT. There's a few other spots that have been good some times but fallen short other times. Namaste India has always delivered on great flavors. I would be interested in trying some other stuff on their menu! I'll update my review when I do! read more

I love this place, we had a Groupon and decided to go, I haven't been here in a long time, which makes me wonder why because it was amazing. We were seated right away, I ordered some Naan to start and they bring over a little of their caraway cracker as well with a few dipping sauces. Indian food options near Bristol aren't plentiful, so I am ever so grateful for Namaste India in Southington. While their hours (especially for delivery) are not the best, when I do catch them, everything is always so delicious. Don't be shocked by the prices of these dishes, as they typically are $15+ each. For that cost, you're getting an 8" round tin packed to the brim with food. One order of Chicken Biryani (you gotta get it!) is enough to feed 2 starving adults, plus 2 servings for leftovers. I've never been dissatisfied by anything I've eaten here, and tell all my friends about Namaste India. read more

Nice little spot with authentic flavors! It's located in the corner of a plaza so it doesn't look like much from the outside. They just opened for Sunday lunch; we'd initially gone in hopes of trying the buffet they advertised but they weren't doing it today, for some reason. Large menu but divided up by protein so you can navigate it easily. I had the Fish Tikka Masala and got it medium spicy and it didn't disappoint! The salmon was seared and then put in the sauce which had heat that built over the course of the meal. The garlic naan was AMAZING- honestly the best we've had anywhere. They didn't hold back with the garlic, which we love. My fiancé had the Chicken Madras, which he felt needed a little more seasoning but said it was still tasty. The vegetable samosa appetizer was perfect-dough fried to a golden crisp, no excess oil. The inside was seasoned and very warm, not soggy, and had various textures to keep it from feeling mushy. This was our 3rd visit to the luncheon buffet and there was a decided improvement over our last experience. Though no lamb or goat dishes are offered and the naan continues to be put out on the buffet table, the temperature of the food was much better (hotter) and the chicken more tender. Our timing was good as our server was just bringing naan out and dropped a basket fresh from the oven off at our table. I was able to taste test all 4 chicken (chili, tika masala, curry and tandori) dishes that were offered and felt the chili chicken was the best though YMMV. All of the vegetarian dishes continue to excel as does the assortment of pickles and chutneys. The desert offering today was gaja halwa which was very good. Business on this Friday afternoon was brisk and the service continues to be excellent. Overall, I feel the luncheon buffet represents the best dining option for lunch in this part of town. read more

I went for the first time to experience the lunch buffet. I arrived a little after noon on a Monday and the place was pretty busy (always a good sign). Tastefully decorated and very clean. Service was prompt and most friendly. I would have liked to see a few more diverse vegetarian choices on the buffet, but all that I tried was really good, particularly the tomato soup. Naan bread was fresh and hot -right out of the kitchen. Prices were most reasonable and I was not at all rushed. I left feeling most full and satisfied. They have an extensive menu filled with lots of vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices , so I plan to visit again soon to try a variety of dishes on the menu. read more

We're so thankful to have Namaste as there are few and far Indian restaurants in the area! Great to see they have an extremely busy takeout business. We ate in their restaurant recently and the wait was very long. The attention was on answering the phone and not attending to the guests dining in. We were in the middle of getting our food served and the waiter answered the phone. Regardless, the food was tasty and we would like to try more from their menu in the future. This is our go to place almost every week. The food is great, though the menu is limited. They are very warm and treat you like home. They cook as per your spice level. We always get complimentary onion green chilies and lemon on the side. My most recommended entrees are Baingan Bharta, bread basket, samosa, etc. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is because there lighting is a bit dull and they could make the place look more inviting by updoing their decor! When we went there we didn't see any customer, restaurant was empty and if start talking about their food Yuck I mean seriously , if these people open restaurant in india they would get thrown out in one day . The curry's are super sweet and creamy . Come on for the sake god you can't make everything creamy . We moved to Southington about 8 months ago. This is our second visit to Namaste. First visit was far far far superior compared to tonight's visit. Seriously - it's as if there was a totally different chef in the kitchen (there could have been!)! We typically get the same thing - usually with only mild spices so our 5 y/o and 1 y/o can eat with us. We got the Tikka Masala and Korma. Tikka masala was not smooth and rich. It was oddly textured and tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. The korma literally had no taste - mildly sweet but no real flavor. The chicken in both dishes was tender and nicely cooked. We ordered mango lassi's that weren't included in our order. Overall - tonight's experience was a 1. Disappointed. read more

Fun Factoid--Which state in the USA has the most Indian restaurants per square mile? Mmm , If you said California or New Jersey you'd be wrong---little old Connecticut has got them beat! Something in the water here simply favors the Curry! As a wise man once said " If you want to curry favor ... Favor curry!!" Which nicely brings me to this great little Indian restaurant way off the beaten path in Southington. Located in a little strip mall in the middle of nowhere Connecticut, I felt like 'Namaste India' really punched above its weight. The Samosa chaat was pretty much perfect in every way. I can honestly say that it doesn't get much better than this for fans of this dish. Everything else was good but nothing quite "excellent " so to speak. The Naan was a bit dry and doughy and the Tikka Masala sauce not spicy/flavorful/red enough for my liking. Both decent enough though have gotta say.. The Fish tikka was a great dish . The Shrimp Tandoori though was a bit underwhelming. All in all a solid little Indian restaurant that is an excellent value with attentive service. read more

Growing up in this neck of the woods, I sometimes feel like I've eaten at every place in town. Maybe, maybe not, but I sometimes get the sense that my options are limited and my family and friends choose to eat at the same joints over and over. Consistency is comfortable but I am always on the hunt for something new. We've been meaning to get to this place sooner, so when plans deemed that Tom and I would both be in Southington for dinner, there was no better time to give this place a shot. We went to dinner around 530pm and there was only one other table filled in the restaurant. The restaurant was tastefully adorned with culturally appropriate decorations and was a comfortable atmosphere. We were quickly seated, glasses filled and papadum and its accompaniments were brought over. For appetizer we tried the Jhinga Manchurian--crispy shrimp in hot cilantro garlic sauce. I can't say that I got the cilantro flavor--the sauce was more reminiscent of a bbq type sauce and although it was mild to our tastebuds, it was still very good. For dinners, I went with Chicken Curry and Tom had the Lamb Saag. My curry was very good, nice and flavorful--next time, I will definitely kick the heat up from mild. The chicken was nicely cooked and the portion size was great, leaving me with leftovers. The lamb saag was not exactly as we might have pictured it--the spinach was pureed and coated the lamb chunks. The flavor was surprisingly good and the lamb was a good match, with the Indian spice blend shining though. A large bowl of Basmati rice was also placed on the table for us to share and we also got a side of garlic naan, which of course, was excellent. Overall, we had a very nice dinner. It is nice to finally see an Indian restaurant in town and it seemed that the citizens of Southington appreciate it too from the steady stream of phone calls and takeout orders during our dinner. This has been one amazing place for Indian food since I moved to Connecticut back in 2012. Even when I have to drive almost half an hour to get there, usually their food was amazing. However, last night I had a very disappointing dinner. I can tell that some changes has been made. I ordered Mulligatawny Soup (it was good) and Lamb Tikka Masala, when it was brought to my table was almost cold, Basmati rice was COLD and it wasn't that long grain and aroma that you usually get from rice. Look like a cheap version of it half grains and over cooked. I would give it a try again before the holidays but not too crazy about it after my experience last night. I wanted to love this place, I had it bookmarked for over a year. I finally made the trip there and sadly I think it's going to be my last trip. When dining out I love it when the staff is attentive. I felt the service was amazingly slow. I waited and waited for my meal to come out. The food was nice, it has the kick I normally crave but the service ruined the overall experience for me. Karin D. got me hooked on Manchurian so I had to order the shrimp Manchurian. I think the appetizer came with 4 shrimps but the flavor was amazing. I'm sure those sitting by me thought I was famish. Oh I saved the sauce to add to my rice. We also go the Namaste Mixed Grill which was a tad disappointing. What were they thinking? One brunt shrimp? I could have gone without this dish. I usually LOVE a combination tandoori dish because I like the variety. Nothing screamed for me to come back. The restaurant business must be tough in this economy because I had to search for the chicken in my Chicken Tikka Masala. I don't even care for chicken but I got it because I like the sauce but my sister likes chicken so I wished there was more chicken. This place is simply okay in my book. The food has kick but I get annoyed with restaurants that charge me an hour's worth of worth yet try to skimp on the proteins. Shrimp is farm raised and the price has dropped dramatically would it have seriously hurt the business that much to add a few more? The food took way too long to arrive. read more
