If you've had dishes at other Indian restaurants, the staff will try and either help you figure out what that dish was and or make a similar recommendation. They're very friendly and helpful. I love getting new restaurants in my neck of the woods and once I heard there was a Yeti in town I knew I had to see it for myself. I came here on a weeknight for dinner with m'lady and it was fairly empty. They have plenty of parking considering the relatively small interior. The service was a little slow. They have a sign for "free app" hanging outside so of course we asked what that meant. It was pre-selected and they said they'd bring it out two different times and never did. Before we ordered and asked about it they took a long time to come to our table after handing us the menus. The food took a while to come out as well but it may have felt longer since we were so hungry. It was worth the wait. I got the coconut chicken and it was amazing. A subtle amount of coconut and not too sweet. This will most likely be my go-to for indian nearby but isn't my favorite I've had in STL. read more

After our dining experience last night I have to push this to 5 stars! Everything we ordered was delicious, served promptly by friendly staff. We were greeted with a crispy bread with a brown or green dipping sauce. Liked both but loved the green sauce! We started with steamed veggie momos, he advised us they'd need 10 minutes, no biggie. There are 6 to an order so it was great to share. For our meal we split an order of garlic naan (which was tasty in that green sauce too). I ordered the Butter Chicken mild on the heat, he got a lamb dish, medium heat. Both were delicious and I actually hurt myself a little because I opted to finish mine! The Legend of the Yeti! If there's one thing that I truly love, it's an Indian buffet. And I'm always looking for a new place. You can imagine my joy when I found Himalayan Yeti! I don't have to travel to The Himalayas to find authentic Indian and Nepali cuisine. In fact, I don't even drive two miles! HY is just 1.5 miles from home, so it has become a regular spot for me at lunch time. It's conveniently placed on S. Kingshighway, just down the street from Uncle Bill's, and has its own parking lot, which gives it an advantage to my other favorite Indian joints. The convenience doesn't stop there. HY is open seven days a week and doesn't raise its buffet prices on the weekends. Therefore, you know when it's open and how much you're going to spend. Other Indian buffets do raise the prices on the weekend. As for the variety, I've noticed that HY pretty much has a standard buffet. You can expect Chicken Tikka Masala, Curry, and Tandoori, and some vegetarian options as well. Sometimes they have goat or beef, but if you're a fan of chicken, you will find a home at HY. The quality is usually great. I've been there six times, and I was only disappointed once. Even my top Indian buffets have failed me once or twice! The Tikka Masala is always tasty. However, I don't like that they cube their chicken for the dish. I prefer the chunks to the cubes because the uncut chicken tends to be more tender. However, the curry is usually prepared to my liking, but I prefer the sweetness of the Tikka Masala. Everything is very fresh, and the most part, well-executed. They might fall short of my favorite places, but just barely. I'm more than likely going to head to HY out of the convenience and price, rather than drive further down the road. Well.... Walked in at 9:20pm....closes at 10:00pm. I'm very weird about going to places when they're about to close but it's not like we walked in at 9:45. Girl hosting looked at the clock "we close at 10 is that okay?" I said it was okay with me if it was okay with them. The girl said something to another girl, kept looking at the clock. We were sat, then the host girl said we need to order quickly because the kitchen closes at 9:30.... The other girl comes to our table 30 seconds later says the exact same thing. If you want your restaurant to closed, emptied, and cleaned by 10:00 then you need to close the whole place at 9:30. Food was good but jeez the customer service sucked. read more

I came here with two friends on Sunday after church and it was packed! It was about 1 PM and we waited 15-20 minutes for a table. It was a little awkward because there isn't much room to wait (and it was too cold to wait outside), but I felt that it was worth it. When I hear the word buffet, I usually think of an endless supply of every kind of mediocre food imaginable, but that's not the case here. There are a few select options and I liked what I had. I'm not super familiar with Indian and Nepalese food, but I felt like the options were well done. I particularly enjoyed the beef curry and what I thought was veggie curry (but is navratan korma, veggies with yogurt sauce). The naan was warm and soft, there were two kinds of rice, and they had gulab jamun! I love sweet things and these were definitely on the sweet side, but I liked them. There was also soup that I didn't have enough room in my stomach to try. I did have some chai with lunch; the flavors were muted, which I actually prefer. The wait staff were friendly, refilled our water glasses often, and even asked us a final time if we wanted to get anything else from the buffet before they cleared up the food. I thought they closed at 3 when they actually closed at 2:30; they were gracious, though, and didn't say anything when we walked up to the counter to pay at 2:45. Thanks for not rushing us out the door! We'll know for next time! All in all, a pretty good meal from the buffet. I think it would be nice to come back and eat from the menu next time. I've been here three times now and the food is nothing to write home about. Most recently we ordered chili chicken, samosas and a veggie thali to share. We asked for extra hot spice level for the chicken appetizer. It was just ok. The sauce tasted like ketchup more than anything else. The samosa and chutneys were good. About half the things on the thali were enjoyable. The service though is very slow. They weren't even that busy. It was slow every single time in our experience. This is strictly an Indian restaurant (samosas, tikka masala, naan) and they have ONLY 3 items on their menu that is actually Himalayan/Nepalese - one vegetarian, one goat and mo mo. It's a shame because I traveled pretty far to have some other dishes but ended up with a menu with Indian food only under the front of the name of the restaurant -- which is very misleading! They just appropriated the culture by calling it Himalayan Yeti, adding maps of Nepal and he Himalayas. So disappointed. read more

I personally did not enjoy the rice a lot which I am not sure is it because the difference in the style of rice between the Persian preparation and Indian preparation or is it because of the quality itself, I would defer this to others. The same thing for the masala tea, not my favorite kinda tea. Nice people and very friendly and smiling people as you can imagine. I wonder about the reviews here. I ate the lunch buffet and that may explain the discrepancy. The beef Karachi was the best entree. I felt it was above average. The dal makhani was good and creamy? But too mild. I did not care for the chicken tiki masala. It had a thin and sweet sauce. The chicken curry was better than the tiki masala. But it was not great. It was very mild. The alu something or other (potatoes and mushrooms) was good. The creamed spinach and vegetable dish was extremely mild. It reminded me of something my German mother would make. Then it hit me. The restaurant was very busy. Every table was utilized at lunch time. The Diners were all 40-60 Eastern European descent caucasians. I imagine they are catering to their clientele. I will finish that the lentil soup, called dal tradka elsewhere, was excellent. Here they had a "lentil soup" They have tea on buffet that is very good and gratis. This little restaurant doesn't look like it would hold some of the most flavorful food around when you drive by. We stopped in on a whim and have become huge fans! We love experimenting with new flavors and foods and the buffet option allows you to experiment with a reasonable price. The buffet foods are titled so you can know what you are eating. Normally we shy away from buffets but this little place keeps the serving utensils clean and the wait staff stay on top of your needs. Since COVID they have been providing take out only but are now serving from the dinner menu. All of they staff are eager to make recommendations and to explain the food/ ingredients. Each time the service is fast, accurate, and the food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. At first they had no liquor license and could not sell any beer or "adult refreshments". The staff here is super friendly and I love that this place has a parking lot so super easy access. I ordered the vegetarian momo which was a delicious dumpling with spicy dipping sauce. I also got the saag (spinach) paneer at a hot level of spiciness, rice which came with that and a garlic naan. It was all so delicious but they do have authentic spice here so if you cannot handle food too spicy I suggest going one level down. My first visit and my review is only for the buffet. Their website doesn't speak of the buffet but it is offered for lunch 7 days a week. Staff was really nice. The foods looked great and best yet when I tried it, each hot item was actually piping hot!!! Such a treat. So tired of 90degree foods. Multiple raw salad veggies, raita, chutneys , rice, biryani, two breads, dal, chai tea, pakora, FOUR vegetarian items (korma veggies, sag paneer, chana masala , cabbage/corn, each great and piping hot. Chili chicken (or was it Chicken 65) was awesome, so many onions. Tandoori chicken moist and kept steamy. I did not try the other chicken nor goat. I saw desserts, I passed on them. Sat. with water and tax was like $16.75. I think it's $2.00 cheaper Mon-Fri. They can pack up the place, not really big but WOW!!! Please support this place. They do have an awesome sounding menu, looks like veg entrees from $13 and chicken from $14. Think I'll go back tomorrow to make sure I wasn't dreaming. read more

I am so glad that we tried this place on Monday. The food was amazingly delicious. We ordered the Himalayan Momo (Chicken) for an appetizer. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great, the sauce really added a lot of great flavor. For dinner I got the Chicken Tikka Masala medium and it was spiced just correctly, a bit of a kick but not too much to overpower the wonderful taste. We also got a side of Garlic Cheese Naan which had a ton of cheese. The service was efficient and the servers were extremely nice. I can't wait to go back again. read more
