We tried this place out on a Saturday night around 7pm in December. When we walked in, there were only it's a few table tables of people. Our server was attentive, yet very shy and quiet. We shared the Chicken Choila, Paneer Tikka Masala, and Vegetable Korma. Everything was delicious! I just wish the ambiance was more warm, cozy, and inviting. Definitely an amazing place for takeout, which I will be doing in the future!

Really enjoyed the chicken tikka masala. The flavors were mild and the food was very rich so we ended up with plenty of leftovers. The garlic naan was great! Service was great and loved looking at the pictures on the walls and seeing the owners numerous degrees. Cool Nepal vibe for sure!

Love this place! So many good options for vegetarians but meat eaters will also be satisfied. It's only $15 for the lunch buffet too. Great for groups, they have a big table

Came here after a biblical training session. Food was amazing. The rice pudding being my fav along with the noodles. Service was very nice, owner even came to our group and talked to us about his upbringing and start of his career and family which was very interesting. The ambiance of the place can be compared to two clashing warriors from two different countries. The duality of the Nepal and Korea can be seen at every corner all the while bleending in the culture between the two and their foods. Such a great experience!

So many amazing flavors on the lunch buffet!

I used to go to Everest Cafe often when I worked in the city, but that has been 10 years ago! I wanted to try it again with a friend who also used to go often. We went for the lunch buffet and it did not disappoint! I remembered it being excellent and this visit was no different. My particular favorites were the vegetable and chicken korma and the chicken Tikka masala, but honestly everything was bursting with flavor! I also loved the potato and cauliflower dish as well as the Korean rice noddles which were sweet and savory. My friend said the rice pudding was some of the best she's had. The interior is clean, but nothing spectacular and service was par for the course for a buffet. If you are looking for a delicious Indian (and other fusions) buffet, then you must try Everest!

Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars I really wanted to like this place. There are so many spices and flavors to play with when it comes to Nepalese, Korean, and Indian dishes. Unfortunately, these flavors fell flat and didn't help create a spotlight on this cafe like I was hoping. We swung by over the weekend while they ran their all you can eat lunch buffet. While there was a variety of meat and vegetarian options available, many of them were more or less similar to each other. Being Korean, I was disappointed in many of the Korean (or Korean inspired) dishes that were prepared. Many lacked flavor and depth. The japchae had few vegetables mixed in with the glass noodles. The bulgogi chicken tasted nothing like traditional bulgogi sauce. We did enjoy their mango juice and a couple of their Indian curries.

Apparently this is "Chicken Tikka Masala" .....

Wow, this place used to be amazing. My wife and I dined there about 2-3 years ago and had a poor experience. We decided to give them a final chance this evening and ordered some chicken tikka masala, rice and garlic naan. The CTM we received was light pink in color and does not match the rich orange color I've had in the past or the pictures on yelp. There are other reviews that mention a pink color and I can't quite put a finger on it ...just the whole dish tasted like heavy cream/coconut cream and sugar. Called the restaurant to describe what we had received and was met with no answers. A real shame because years ago this place used to have great food. What we received was definitely not chicken tikka masala. Barely any chicken also. Sad.

    Wanda H.

I've gotta say, those are some of THE best pork mandu I've ever had! And I lived in Korea for 3.5 years!!! They were HUGE and flavorful! The daal on the other hand didn't have much flavor as far as I was concerned. The chicken tandoori was good, but my friend's chicken korma was BETTAH. Wish I'd ordered THAT. Ah well, live and learn. The vegetable samosas were good but not wonderful. Overall, I enjoyed our meal here. The service was good, but I wish the table would've been bigger? Not enough room for all dat stuff! Would come back.

A variety of things from the buffet

I used to work nearby and this was our go to place for lunch. Been a few years since I have been there and was happy to see that they are still there and have expended to next door! Lunch buffet did not disappoint, with a great variety of vege and meet options to try! The naan always seems to be empty, because as soon as it come out, people grab 3-5 each! Very tasty and a great way to enjoy the sauces. Brought my family here for lunch today and tried a bit of everything. The korma is my favorite and we all enjoyed the variety and quality. The history of the owner and the focus of their mission is something that everyone should learn about while there. Buffet was a bit more than I remember (around $16 each) so go hungry and enjoy!

Some of good choices for lunch.

Went to the buffet lunch . So many great and delicious choices. Many vegetarian dishes. Soup, naan, delicious sauces (tamarind, yum). Service polite and speedy. Eat up until 2:30 weekdays and get to watch a Bollywood movie while you enjoy the food!!

My new favorite restaurant Unique, International and absolutely Delicious. Tried the samosa(Excellent!), JJ Noodles with the dumplings was Amazeballs!! My date got the Egg Chow-Chow- also very good! Tried soju for the first time, highly recommend Grapefruit flavor. I will be back soon! Our waitress was super sweet and patiently explained the menu items and gave great recommendations!

And to my knowledge,…read morethis is the only place in St. Louis that serves this type of cuisine (only on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm). I ordered classic items like the rice roll, beef sesame flatbread, and soy milk. They were out of the congee this time, but that's also one of my favorites. The beef in the sesame flatbread was thin cut and full of flavor. It pairs really well with the cucumber, cilantro, and green onion, along with the toasty sesame bread. My only critique is that I wish it was warmer and not served cold (intentional), but that is certainly a personal preference. The rice roll is made up of sticky rice around pork floss, pickled vegetables, chinese cruller, and, tea egg - all classic ingredients that work so well together. It fell apart towards the end, but it was still delicious eating it with a fork. The soy milk was delicious as well, and you can customize the sweetness by adding your own sugar. It is classically paired with the Chinese cruller (youtiao), but the menu is a bit pricey, so I did not separately order the youtiao. My meal came out to be $26, so I definitely consider this to be a "treat myself" meal. But given that this is the only restaurant that does Chinese breakfast in St. Louis and does it authentically, I am a huge fan. Service is great, and seating is very spacious.

Having to walk through the bar, wait for the curtain on the door to open, order at the door and stand around waiting made for an awkward ambiance. Nothing against the bar. There isn't much seating, a couple high tops, a booth and then the bar area. I wished we were drinkers so we could have sat and had a drink while we waited. The owners are very approachable and could immediately recognize us as Filipinos when we were sitting and eating there. The restaurant reminds me of a "fancier" Filipino style like you see in big tourist spots in Boracay. I do admit, the wait is a bit long as we were waiting for almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. However, I feel like the complaints about it from other reviews are ridiculous since this place isn't considered fast food, but cooked with love. I mean- when I was living in The Philippines, everyone has patience of a saint, especially when it comes to food so I do not see the wait time as an issue. It's not served immediately like karinderya style. I ordered the Filipino-style chicken BBQ and I'd like to say that it's so delicious and flavorful. However, it doesn't remind me of home. I do want to point out to definitely ask for tuyo kalamansi with chili for the dip if you're not a fan of vinegar. I was told it was homemade by the owner and it did not disappoint. The pork BBQ that my father ordered was a bit too hard for his liking, as Filipino meat tends to be on the softer side. The ube banana pudding is also yummy, however, it is way too sweet for our liking. I'd like to point out that Java rice is so good that I think that it isn't enough for a Filipino like me and I personally don't want to pay for another cup of Java rice. There were more sides than rice tbh. I was also a bit bummed that halo-halo isn't in the menu at all, With that being said, I feel like the food and desserts here are mostly catering the American palette, but it would be good for people who has never tried Filipino food.

A Great Hole-in-the-Wall Korean Spot…read more I was really in the mood for Korean food, and as Korean culture has become more mainstream, I've noticed that some Korean restaurants have started to feel a bit commercialized. As someone who cooks Korean food myself and spent time living in Korea, sometimes you just want a simple, authentic, no-frills spot that focuses on the food. Thankfully, Asian Kitchen Korean Cuisine, located at 8423 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO, delivered exactly that. I knew I was probably in the right place as soon as I walked in and was greeted by one of the owners, whose direct and no-nonsense personality reminded me of many family-run restaurants I've visited over the years. It gave the place a lot of character. I kept my order simple and went with the beef bulgogi, while my sister ordered the chicken bulgogi. Both came with rice and kimchi. We also shared an order of vegetable potstickers, which were fried perfectly. Everything was delicious. The food had a homemade quality that felt comforting and authentic. The bulgogi was flavorful, the kimchi was satisfying, and the potstickers were easily one of the highlights of the meal. We ordered everything to go, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos, but the food definitely spoke for itself. One thing to keep in mind is that there may be a bit of a wait, but that's because the food is prepared fresh. If you're willing to be patient, it's well worth it. Overall, if you're looking for solid Korean food in the St. Louis area and don't mind a straightforward, family-run atmosphere, Asian Kitchen is a great choice. 4 out of 5 stars.

TLDR: Good Food, But A Lot of Red Flags…read more I had been wanting to try Shabu Day for a while and finally made it out. The food was honestly really good -- but there is a lot this place needs to fix before I can fully recommend it. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the smell. And not in a good way. It smelled like a sewer. Not what you want when you are about to sit down and eat. It lingered the entire time we were there and was really hard to get past. The front of the restaurant looks okay at first glance. But once you sit down you start noticing things. The tables are wobbly and clearly rigged up with makeshift fixes. Extension cords are running visibly across the floor which looks bad and feels unsafe. The menus and sauce bottles were sticky -- like they had not been wiped down in a long time. Little things like that add up fast. I caught a glimpse of the back of the house and it looked grimy and dirty. That is a problem at any restaurant, but especially at a place where you are cooking your own food right at the table. The staff were not very welcoming either. They were hard to find when you needed something and did not seem very interested in making sure you were having a good time. Now here is the thing -- the food was actually fresh and delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients were good quality. That part genuinely impressed me. But for the price they are charging? The total package is just not there yet. Good food can only carry a restaurant so far. They need to clean things up -- literally -- before I come back. UPDATE: One more thing worth mentioning that I think is really important. Shabu Day is strictly all you can eat -- and that is the only option they offer. For most people that is fine. But for anyone with a medical condition that limits how much they can eat, this format is a serious problem. You are being charged full all you can eat prices for food you physically cannot consume in that quantity. That is not fair and it is not inclusive. A lot of restaurants in this space offer a la carte or smaller portion options for exactly this reason. Shabu Day should do the same. It is a simple change that would make a big difference for a lot of people and would show that they actually care about all of their customers -- not just the ones who can eat the most. Clean things up, fix the smell, train your staff to be more welcoming, and give people a fair way to order. The foundation is there. Now build on it.
