I had such high hopes for this restaurant after seeing all of the other amazing reviews on Yelp but must say, I was disappointed when I tried it myself. The naan was very fluffy and slightly sweet. It was, by far, the best part of the meal. We came for lunch on a weekday, so we could try a variety of dishes. The veggie pakora were dry and hard to eat, unfortunately; very disappointing compared to what I have had at other restaurants. The tandoori chicken was suprisingly lacking in flavor and overcooked. The chicken curry was pleasantly seasoned, but the chicken tikka masala had no flavor; it honestly tasted like cubed chicken mixed with coconut milk and canned tomato sauce (with no spices added). I have never been so disappointed in a chicken tikka masala dish. To top it off the galub jamun were not light and fluffy like I have had it before; they were cold, dense, and tasted like they had too much spice added to the batter. The food was wonderful and very well flavored. The tandoori chicken was unfortunately quite dry, hence 4 stars, but the other dishes were excellent and I am still excited to coms back and try other things. Their menu is fabulous and they've got a wide selection of great Indian dishes! I also love that the restaurant is easy to get to and has its own spacious parking lot. This is a place where you can probably seat a group of 8-10 people. The place is clean and well decorated. They offer a $9 weekday lunch buffet and a $10 weekend lunch buffet with goat curry. Omg the food here is so delicious. What a gem. I ordered the Chicken Korma and Garlic Naan. All so good. Great flavor, large portions, good quality chicken. The sauce was so amazing. By the time I wrote this review, my plate was clean! And I don't usually eat too much. The staff was friendly and the restaurant is super cute on the inside. I got takeout, but I'd eat inside too. Went here for a relaxed weekend dinner - we got the butter chicken and samosas. The butter chicken was fragrant and creamy - and it had a hefty serving of meat! Himalayan Yeti serves Indian and Nepalese cuisine. This was actually our second time coming to Himalayan Yeti because the first time was so delish! We wanted to try the Momo (Indian Dumplings) and have our take at the lunch buffet again! Let me start by raving about their Tikki Masala! Seriously, some of the best or at least right up there as a top contender! The chicken breast dices were tender and the sauce really flavorful with all the spices balancing perfectly. If you want a unique Indian appetizer, try the Veggie or Chicken Momo! They are homemade and are a type of potsticker/dumpling full of Indian spices. We ordered them steamed and they were extremely fresh. The Chicken Curry and the Aloo Golbi/Navratan Korma (whichever it was) were also delicious. I always get the Saag of whatever kind the restaurant offers, and this Saag Paneer was not the best, but still pretty great. Now the best part...Gulab Jamun! Warm, fried, soft, and soaked in honey dessert balls that melt in your mouth. These are a must along with everything else. I don't think I need to say to go try Himalayan Yeti, so just eat there! read more

So - I love Nepalese food. It's very similar to Indian food - except there are Momos and less heat. These are like curried spice dumplings. I was disappointed in the shape of my non-circle dumplings - but it was still good. This is not in the buffet, but get it as an appetizer on the side. I came here for the buffet. It is small, and less friendly toward vegetarians. But - I loved the Chicken Tikka Masala, Beef Kofa, Chicken Tandoor, and some of the spinach dishes. It is also very heavy, I wish the salad section was a little more grand and the veggies was less starchy. But the lentil soup is good. This is a good place, but hyped up. Their spices are grounded fresh which always brings a fresher bolder flavor in the dishes. Well we sure had a wonderful experience there. The staff paid us attention and suggested a Non-Veg Thali (plate) for us. The Goat curry was delicious and all the other dishes tasted very Indian. I ordered food to feed 12 adults. I spent about $20 per person for appetizers and bread, and entrees at a variety of heat levels. I called in the order the day before, and I asked for it to be ready at 5:15. We got to the restaurant at 5pm, paid then, waited until 5:15 when they had the food ready, and left for our home. When we finally got everything unpacked and set out, it was all still stinging hot. We ordered a variety of veg and meat entrees, including goat curry, several chicken dishes and a shrimp dish. Everything was at the requested heat level. The goat curry was the favorite dish. I really couldn't be more impressed with the service, quality, flavor and value of the food. Everything my group tried tonight was delicious. The dishes averaged around 12-13$ /each The waitress was very kind and gave us recommendations without hesitation. The eggplant dish was a recommendation and it was delicious! This is coming from someone who dislikes eggplants. Tikka Masala was my favorite of the four dishes. It is on the sweeter side so getting it as medium spicyness would have been the better move since it'll help balance the sweetness- hindsight 20/20. Nevertheless, still a delicious dish and def recommend. Rice did come with the dishes we ordered for dinner. Naan was extra ( four naan in one order). The naan was warm, fluffy, and delicious. I definitely recommend trying it! I liked the plain better than the garlic, but that's my preference. FYI Vindaloo medium was spicier than the chicken curry medium. This little restaurant doesn't look like it would hold some of the most flavorful food around when you drive by. We stopped in on a whim and have become huge fans! We love experimenting with new flavors and foods and the buffet option allows you to experiment with a reasonable price. The buffet foods are titled so you can know what you are eating. Normally we shy away from buffets but this little place keeps the serving utensils clean and the wait staff stay on top of your needs. Since COVID they have been providing take out only but are now serving from the dinner menu. All of they staff are eager to make recommendations and to explain the food/ ingredients. The food is delicious and authentic. The chicken meat is my favorite. The lunch buffet is a steal! $9.99 for all the basics. chutneys, veggie options, chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, tandoori chicken, a beef dish, some sort of saag, potatoes and peas, naan, rice Rice pudding, sweet glazed donut looking things we didn't get to try Some chai in airpots and soup I rarely eat this type of food, so I'm not super knowledgeable or critical, but it's definitely cheaper and better than Rasoi near me in CWE. I thought I was starving, but the food hits you fast and hard. It's heavy and creamy and the rice and bread really fills you up. I definitely recommend grabbing less than you think you need to start. Food for the most part was flavorful, seasoned, and cooked well. Items were refreshed regularly and quick when they got low. My favorite thing we ate there was the tomato chutney. Very familiar to me but I wasn't sure why, but it was super umami and I couldn't stop eating it with everything. The one big negative... A few items were very salty. The mix pickles hurt my tongue from being so inedible. And even though the food is meant to be eaten with rice, they were still a bit too salty to be enjoyable. Might be a fluke though. We have dined at Himilayan Yeti many times and enjoyed the food and the ambiance. However, today our visit was very upsetting. I picked up my son from school and he asked if we could swing by and have their buffet. He loves the chicken tikka masala. As we pulled up, I made sure they were still open for the buffet. Per their signage, both permanently on the door and the sign out front.. They advertise their buffet is from 11am to 2:30pm. It was 2:20pm when we arrived and walked in the door. They informed us they were closed. I said to them, how can you be closed when you advertise your Buffet is until 2:30. And they explained to me that they start closing at 2:20. The exact time we walked in the door. So their advertising is false. They offered to let us purchase an order of chicken tikka masala to go, however, when they rang it up it was $22 instead of the $9.99 that I would have paid had I purchased the buffet. They then informed me I had to pay full price for the meal and that their buffet was no longer $9.99 it had been raised to $11. Still, $11 would have been cheaper than what they were charging us for food they would have pitched anyway. They could have rectified the issue of their false advertisement and retained a good customer and given us our order for the same price as we would have paid for it on the buffet, but they did not. Too bad. I will not recommend them anymore and we will not be coming back. read more

I am really really surprised by 4.5 star rating for this restaurant. If you go to a buffet and you are out in 10 mins that explains how good the restaurant is. We were in town for a day so went here on weekday buffet seeing good ratings. The restaurant was extremely dark and gloomy. Just couple of tables filled. First thing we notice the number of options in buffet were way too less but thats ok as may be we are comparing to restaurants in Chicago area which have huge Buffet selection. As long as the food is Good No complaints. Now comes the worst part ! FOOD ! Everything we ate was cold. Not even warm! Tandoori was really dry and the meat seemed old, reheated and weird in taste. Vegetarian pakoras again were cold and hard. The naan was more like a very thick pita . Goat curry flavorless , Chicken makhani very tangy. Vegetarian Main course curries were like Bhindi and Cauliflower which dont qualify as primary main course selections in restaurants . Dessert was gulab jamun which was really weird in taste and seemed liked they were microwaved too. Then comes the best part i was very excited when i saw a container with Tea since it was snowing outside . To my surprise the tea was solid cold not even warm. It was whitish in color and seemed like was made form milk powder. Mind you, I am not talking about Ice tea here. Just a regular Indian/Nepalese tea. We were really upset and wanted to talk to the restaurant staff about this but then we just paid and left as we did not want to spoil our trip.
