Delicious sandwiches! Great deli in Port Washington we can get hot and cold sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, and platters. I really enjoyed the Town Dock which had roast beef, pastrami, salami, and melted provolone cheese. I got it with the Russian dressing. It was a great combination of flavors, and it really hit the spot! My wife likes cold sandwiches and she got the Viking with the variety of cold cuts, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. I tried a couple bites and liked it as well. we also tried the homemade iced tea, which was good. The staff was very friendly, and made the sandwiches very quickly. They also have three tables in the front where you can eat. You get a very homey feel from this deli. Definitely recommended! read more

Great old school deli that churns out very famous creative new sandwich combinations ( eg. 'The Big Guy' breakfast sandwich, ' The Town Dock ', BEC, Turkey BLT hero, ' The Main Street ', ' The Baxter' ). I don't live in Port Washington but have no problem driving the extra 20 - 30 minutes two towns over to get my family's breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The food is excellent and still very affordable. Walter & staff are very friendliness and are on a first name basis with most of their customers. Conveniently located on Port Washington Blvd, which at times can be very busy, but there is parking in the back and street parking is also available. read more

Hincks is great local deli for the people of Port Washington. I love to head down to Hincks and get myself a sandwich. there lunch sandwich game is very good, but there bec/breakfast sandwich game is just not there in the slighest. If you want a bec in port washinton then head over to a real deli like harbor deli. I would say I am a regular at Hincks and there service is terrible. Just yesterday they over charged my order. Every small town in America needs a hometown eatery for the locals to huddle around, it seems. Something that has lineage - something that the PBA leaguers can go after the game with the off-duty cops to have a wholesome snack. A place where you wear your town pride on a sleeve, so to speak. A place a hop skip and jump away from the local high school, the place where the local doctor or electrician go for a bite to eat. Welcome to Port Washington. PW (or Port as it's known by the locals) is one of the larger communities on the North shore. When Austin Corbin took over the Long Island railroad back in 1871, his crowning achievement was to extend the subsidiary Flushing & North Side Railroad from Flushing to College Point, Bayside, Great Neck (all new-money towns), across the Manhasset Valley, and then all the way to Port Washington, mostly because he was convinced by "concerned prominent citizens" (AKA his golfing buddies) that it was a good idea. Due to its status as an extension of the existing railway from Flushing, the Port Washington line was not routed through Jamaica like the other Hoi Polloi branches of the railroad, further contributing the image of a railroad for the well-to-do. Port Washington is the market town of the Cow Neck Peninsula, to the North and Northeast it's the old-money Sands Point. (Sands Point is essentially blue blood East Egg in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, while King's Point in Great Neck is the new money West Egg) The town is prosperous because it is dealing with rich neighbors up north, and because of ridiculous town taxes, this is one of the best places to send your kids to school. Okay, great. So what about the deli? Like many parts of well-to-do Long Island (Smithtown comes to mind), Port was settled by German settlers back in the 19th Century serving a decidedly WASPy clientele. It's not to say that they don't have good taste (Ayhan's Fish House won't do so well if the locals aren't accepting of a place that essentially serves Istanbul style seafood in addition to kebabs and hummus, and you won't have a decent Japanese sushi place along with a good Italian place or 2), it's just that the hometown crowd does not have an overly adventurous palate. A good deli that can make a fresh sandwich with good quality meats is "good enough". Hinck's is a good deli in the old-school sense of the word - the meats are not pre-sliced, the salads are not pre-made at an industrial kitchen and scooped out of the vat. The fountain lemonades and iced teas are not from a mix. If you are not a dotard and order the wrong things, the sandwiches are decent sized (the North Shore with the Peppermill Turkey/Pastrami/Cheese on a local hoagie is good enough for me to split with my wife). It's not spectacular, but it's certainly serviceable. Hinck's Deli is one of those places that trades upon hometown pride - if you look at the walls, they proudly proclaim their sponsorship in the local PBA league, their participation with local school events (small wonder, 2 of the Port Washington public schools are right across the street), bits of articles about town pride are proudly on display, and they have the New York Mets roundel on top (the Port Washington Line does have a stop at Citi Field, and Mets home games bring forth local fans throughout the North shore). It's an expression for local pride, and the locals repay them in continued patronage. It's not a bad position to be in, being the local joint. Tried to call ahead to order so I wouldn't be away from work long... no answer repeatedly. They never answer their phone. Employee there checked the phone- they turn the ringer off so they won't have to listen to it ring. (Which means they have no intentions of answering it so why even have it? Ok prices for breakfast but lunch is on the expensive side. Long lines and slow staff. Deli slices are always toasty and fresh, the sauces they use are very flavorful and portioned just right, and prices are very modest. Why anyone would pay $10 for a mediocre sandwich at Subway when they can get a far better one here for $7.50 is beyond me. Why the missing star? Bread is so-so. Fresh and soft but not very flavorful. I've only had breakfast from here but it's really good. Prices are inexpensive when compared to the general ridiculousness of Port Washington, where gas is regularly 10 cents more per gallon than Valley Stream. They have a sweet neon sign advertising their homemade iced tea, which I'll get around to having the first time I stop in there past 6 am. read more

In the summer, I stop by Hinck's for breakfast or lunch because they are inexpensive, conveniently located on Port Blvd, and they always make their menu items hearty. I recommend the Lenny Special (2 Eggs, Bacon, Fried Onions, Cheese) for breakfast or The Blvd (Freshly Breaded Chicken Cutlet, Melted American Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato & Mayo) for lunch. Sat in the car while my husband went in to order a sandwich. As my husband came back to the car with the sandwiches, I realized that the big and tall white male was grabbing chicken and cheese with his bare hands and putting them on a sandwich. He then proceeded to go to the register to ring someone up then came back behind the counter to look at his phone and then proceeded to grab the sandwich with his bare hands again and rolled it up before handing it to the customer. The only time I saw him clean his hands was when he wiped them on his apron. The other workers behind the counter had gloves on but were touching other things like the microwave and whatever other utensils in the back that the man at the register had touched with his unclean hands. We decided to take a chance with our sandwiches as we were very hungry and waited a very long time for them and in a matter of a few hours, began throwing up and burping up a very poor taste of the sandwiches. I'm terribly disgusted that we took a chance with the sandwiches after having seen the disgusting and careless way in which this man was handling food. I wanted to go in and communicate how awful that was but I felt bad since the deli was quite packed with customers and I feel sorry for a lot of these businesses struggling during covid shutdowns, however, lack of cleanliness is no excuse to be so careless over the health of customers. In the end, we ate only half of our sandwiches, which were both specialty sandwiches, because it didn't taste good at all. We threw the rest away. The only thing good is the bread. We stopped in here and ended up with two great sandwiches and and big, juicy pickle. Friendly service and good food at reasonable prices without losing the personal feel. This is a place I'd come back to when in the area for a quick lunch or to carry out.
