My mom would take us to a liquor store that carried Hinkley's chocolate and white frosting donuts after church on Sundays. I think that is how she got us to agree to go to church, the donuts. I have not lived in Michigan for over 35 years but I will never forget how good they tasted. I wish they delivered I would be a regular. Doughnuts here are very good. I love eating there doughnuts, it's the best part of Saturday morning. Last time I got some they were so good that I had a muscle spasm and dropped my phone screen first onto the hard wood floor. So I agree with all the previous reviews. Excellent doughnuts, weird hours. The location isn't all that bad, its just typical non-downtown jackson. I thought I would post the hours( at least I hope that these are still the hours) since they are not typical. But let me go a little farther... we live in South Carolina and come to visit family and well "Hinkley's" yep it was the second place I went after arriving in Jackson last week! I am pretty sure I could smell them frying when I hit the city limits... okay maybe that is an exaggeration but maybe not... I love HInkley's doughnuts!! It's no suprise they have such a great following. They have sellers all over the county. Out on us12 towards chelsea there's a little coffee 'shop' that sells their tasty treats, and gas stations all over town use them, and only them. I'm not usually a big donut fan, but I wanted to see what all the hype was about. OMG!! The cherry cake doughnut holes were so addictive that I ate 4 on the 2 mile drive back home. The cream filled long John was filled with so much yummy goodness that there was a gob of cream with every bite. The hype was well founded for sure. read more

Just getting out of your vehicle, the smells of dough and sugar are in the air. I recently moved to St. Louis and have yet to find a doughnut bakery like this one. One of the very few things I miss about Jackson. These doughnuts are to die for! However the hours are very strange. Closed on sun mon and tues which doesn't make much sense.. WOW!! What a tiny little neighborhood bakery that has a reputation that precedes itself! Always a line even as they get on towards noon and what decadent doughnuts that they have. This is hands down the best doughnuts in Jackson. Priced right, crunchy on the outside, softer than a down pillow on the inside.they are known for there chocolate crescent, the frosting taste very similar to a fudge. Word on the street is the owner has the secret recipe memorized, and he alone is the only person to know what it includes.
