This ice cream shop is so kitschy and cute. It's a 1950's style ice cream parlor with seating both inside and out. We just didn't sit outside because of the country music they were playing. The owners are friendly and accommodating. I ordered the last of the Mallomar ice cream which had marshmallows, chocolate and cookie pieces (just like the cookies). It was a unique, delicious flavor which I always appreciate. For a small, you can choose 2 flavors/2 scoops, so I also asked for a mocha/coffee chip flavor which was good too. This is our go-to ice cream shop when we're in town with a good selection and fair prices. read more

Hinlickity's is located in the Highlands next to one of my favorite local Italian restaurants. The shop normally closes at 9 on Saturday night but we lucked out as they had a crowd and were open past 10. The shop looks like it is only offering outdoor seating at this point, I saw through the window that the inside is well furnished like an ice cream shop from the 1950's would look. The selection of ice cream is solid and they offer some unusual flavors like creamed corn. I tasted their coffee and rocky road, both very good. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. If you are in the area I recommend them. I would advise that you call first to confirm that they are open, we have dropped by a few times during their business hours and they have been closed. Good luck and enjoy! read more

A beautiful 50's setting adorns this newly opened creamery right in downtown Highlands. Check it out. A variety of different flavors are available at reasonable prices. This ice cream has a full-bodied fat content, definitely not ice-milk. I delved into a vanilla cone and scarfed it down quickly. Excellent. There are counter seats and tables to eat inside and listen to "oldies" on their jukebox. It's very upbeat here. The owners are very cordial ( husband & wife). They even have a gift area to purchase Knick knacks, candy's al all in a 50's vein. They also have an ice cream truck which I have seen in town selling ice cream. There's a nice vibe here. read more

Charming, special, sweet little place. With just one other review, I'm guessing they are a relatively new establishment, but they were packed the night of our trip. The owner made me a special request, a Raspberry "Freeze" and worked hard to get the right ratio of seltzer, milk, and sorbet to have it be delightful. She even said she'd name it after me! Excellent prices considering; a comparable place in our downtown would've had prices at least a third more. I had a few big bites of my husband's pistachio, and it was wonderful; creamy and not too sweet and clearly home-made. Wonderful little spot that represents the mood of the area really well. Highlands clings to it's past and that's a good thing. Here wedged between the bluffs and the sea you'll find a town that hasn't sold it's soul to the north of the Driscoll bridge crowd. At least not yet. Real stores, bars and restaurants catering to real people. Al H. junior and I were looking to kill a few hours being beached out. The day was as hot and humid as a dog's breath. So the closer to the water the better. Walking Henry Hudson's trail north of town was great if still a bit hot at waters edge. After, we decided on ice cream. Hinlickity's is a bright cheerful gem on the main drag. We ordered outside not realizing there even was an inside and enjoyed our ice cream alfresco. Al H. Jr went for Cherry Vanilla and gave it high marks. I had a root beer float that was fantastic and they gave me the can of root beer to top it off. Nice touch. Service was super and prices seemed reasonable. So next time you're in Highlands save room for ice cream and make it Hinlickity's. I scream for Ice cream. Hinlickities....go! read more

It is a very cute place with outstanding service and the price is what is to be expected. My only issue is that their ice cream lacked definitive flavors. Of the five different ones we tried, all were very mildly tasting of the flavors they were named. They were , however, cold, refreshing, and welcoming on a hot day. read more

I just moved to Highlands NJ from New York about 3 months ago and I was looking for an ice cream shop to go to. I went to Hinlickity's Ice Cream because it was close and it looked good. Today was my first time going and trying it out and my experience was pretty lame. I ordered 2 chocolate egg creams and it didn't even come in a to go cup it came in a glass so I was forced to stay there and drink it. Not only that but I had to wait over 20 minutes just for a tiny drink. And it wasn't even that busy. Also, it's all good way over priced. Such a rip off too. Iwas so disappointed. Had dozens of kids excited for them to come for a summer bbq and they were unresponsive when we called and did not show up at all.
