Hinodeya Ramen (House Ramen) and UMAMI Tonkatsu Dashi Ramen

Came here for dinner on a Thursday night, and the place was pretty busy. Service seems to move fairly quickly though, so my husband and I didn't have to wait long after putting our names down on the waitlist. My husband got the Hinodeya House Ramen, and I got the Umami Tonkatsu Ramen. Flavorwise, the broth seemed pretty simple to us, but everything was made well. The tonkatsu was crispy when it first came out. The portions are small for the price. I recommend getting an appetizer or extra protein if you're hungry and want to stay full. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is located on a lot with Trader Joe's and CVS, which includes parking.

After a handful of stellar experiences at this authentic Japanese Ramen restaurant, came here on Wednesday for lunch with a dear friend and was shocked at how poor the service was. Perhaps the daytime crew is just not up to snuff, but when I walked in, I was ignored for several minutes while a lone waiter rushed around. I finally caught his eye and he asked where I wanted to sit. Told him I was meeting someone and was told well, sit wherever you want when she gets here. Fine. She arrived a moment later and we sat ourselves down. No one came to bring us water or even menus. After five minutes or so we got up and got our own menus. Still no acknowledgment. After another five minutes or so, my friend got the attention of a young waitress, who seemed to be the only other one working tables, and asked whether we could place our orders. The food was still as good as I remember; however, no one came to check on us and in the end we even had to ask to pay our bill. So the food was good, but we felt ignored the whole time. I've only ever been here for dinner; so I don't know if they are training new daytime staff or what. But this was a definite shocker after a handful of stellar service experiences. I hope it's a one-off, I really do.

Went to Hinodeya on a whim after seeing a movie last night and our usual go to, Venice Ramen was closing soon. We were very pleasantly surprised. Almost no wait for a table after 8:45. Rounding up a little to 4 stars. Good noodles well cooked. Legit dashi broth with tender vegetables (the bamboo shoots weren't like chewing on shoe leather). The Chashu pork that comes with the House Ramen was very flavorful and the perfectly cooked egg was a nice touch. The Gyoza were a little overly small but were only $7. Maybe next time we'll try the Karaage. There is an authentic feel to the interior, kind of a "Ramen Joint" vibe that works well. Not fancy but adequate. All in all, Hinodeya Ramen was a perfect spur of the moment selection that is one of the best values around. Thank you Yelp!

Food- I ordered Spicy Miso Ramen and their combo Beef donburi rice bowl with mini ramen. All the foods tasted good but I wish it was more spicy while eating the spicy ramen though. In Beef donburi bowl, sukiyaki beef is sweet and tender and good flavors. But I wish they give more meat for the price of $23.00 combo. Not much beef and a lot of rice underneath. Service- fast service and staff made sure we got what we ordered.

This place deserves more hype. Authentic, hole in the wall Japanese spot with kind wait staff and attentive service right here in Palms. My boyfriend and I came for lunch after a long workout, and the food hit the spot. We started with a spicy edamame that actually had some kick (!!), unlike other Japanese spots we've been to. We both got the spicy miso butter corn ramen, and it was some of the best ramen I've had here in LA. Broth is robust, and the noodles are perfectly thick and chewy. Chashu was super tender. Delicious overall, and I'll definitely be back.

First time coming here to this local ramen spot near our home. A lot of history here as they have been around for a long time. Nice little Japanese restaurant with cozy vibes. My wife and I had their delicious ramen and had side orders of shrimp tempura, gyoza, chicken karaage and edamame. Delicious sides and rich creamy broth in my spicy miso ramen order and my wife got the house special ramen with pork. Excellent choice as we were satisfied with our noodle cravings. We will definitely be back for more. Thank you for the wonderful service.

January 1st, First restaurant of 2026, I came here at 5pm and got seated quickly. More people showed up at 6 and a waitlist was formed. They had three good waiters. They ran out of Hokkaido Hotate Ramen for the night, better call ahead next time. Nevertheless the Spicy Miso Ramen was great. I went for the level 4 Asura Level spice. It was about a 2/5 spicy for me though. not enough to be painful. There was a crunchy add-on crispy flakes on the table. Clean restroom, love that. Ramen was enough to make me slightly full. Delicious. Will come again to try other items.

There are so many ramen spots in the area but what I love about Hinodeya is the service! Everyone is so friendly and food comes out super fast. The ramen itself is great too and always appreciate places that offer vegetarian/vegan ramen dishes

It's not everyday you can find a delicious, dashi-based clam ramen! I honestly didn't have the highest expectations for this place given I'm pretty picky about my ramen, but I was pleasantly surprised with the broth and quality of the noodles and toppings! Hinodeya specializes in dashi based broths which I'm a huge fan of since most places in the US serve tonkotsu broth based ramen. Dashi is a traditional stock of bonito skipjack tuna (katsuo) and konbu seaweed, making a broth brimming with umami. My favorites were their sukiyaki ramen and their hamaguri (clam) ramen, since the both was light and flavorful, but still packed with umami flavors. The sukiyaki wasn't the sweetest, but it paired nicely with the rest of the ingredients. The spicy miso was also a great option, with the chasu, ramen egg, and bamboo shoots being such tasty toppings. Besides their ramen, a must get appetizer is the yu lin chi karaage which is sweet, savory, tender, and juicy, making it perfect by itself or with a bowl of rice. Their takoyaki and gyoza were just okay, so I would probably not get them again. They have multiple locations in California, and this place was packed by the end of the night. I would 100% come back for the clam ramen and their yu lin chi karaage. They're located in the Palms/Culver City area, in the same plaza as the Trader Joe's there. Highly recommend checking it out, especially of you're a fan of dashi based ramens like me.

Had dinner here with my wonderful boyfriend. We shared the spicy house ramen and the gyudon with a mini creamy ramen. Everything was very tasty. I especially loved the thick bamboo shoots. The broths were rich and flavorful. The noodles were tender and chewy. The restaurant was cozy and clean. The staff were all very nice with pleasant smiles and very polite. Great place.

I remember going here during their grand opening ages ago, did their, back then, super cheap deal with unlimited noodle refill (even further discounted due to the special event day) and eating to the point of barely being able to sit up in the car without throwing up. I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. It comes with thick chashu (thick, fatty pork) slices and soft boiled eggs. If you haven't had tsukemen before, you essentially dip your noodles into the broth and then eat it that way. The broth is extremely flavorful and there are also pieces of chashu in it as well. The only critique that I have regarding this is the broth was lukewarm which made the dish taste slightly off. I've tried this dish at another branch and the broth was also lukewarm there, so I'm not sure if this is a location issue or a standard amongst all branches. Also, this dish does not really have any vegetables in this, but I also don't know if traditional tsukemen has veggies included. SERVICE: Service was quick and everyone was nice and doing their job. Didn't seem like the staff was slacking or messing around while there weren't many customers. They were very attentive to us, refilling our water immediately once they saw it was getting low, and being very attentive towards if we had any other concerns or if we needed anything else. PARKING: There technically is street parking but since it's in Little Tokyo, it's going to be very difficult to find it. There's $4-6 valet parking available nearby the location. There are a lot of people walking around though so just be safe. INTERIOR: It's not too big of a place but it's also not too small as well. It looks very well kept and clean. BATHROOM: Two gender neutral bathroom stalls that are both very clean and accessible. No issues here with them. TLDR: Overall, I thought the place was pretty good to eat at! I would definitely come back for the tsukemen (as long as the broth is warmed up until it's hot). A very good dish combined with great music (they have some great Japanese music variety) is definitely a spot worth coming to with friends !! :))
