We went to Hakata Ikkousha Ramen and the sericce was great. They were constantly checking on us making sure we're OK seeing if we needed anything. It had a great vibe to it. Nice setting a decent amount of seating and it was able to fit our whole party 8 to 9 people. I got the God fire Ramen with two eggs and then I also got the pork belly bowl on accident however I don't regret it because the rice went really great with my Ramen. I did the second to highest spice level because I'm a spicy food connoisseur it was delicious. Noodles were nice and soft temperature. The eggs broke down into my Ramen perfectly and the broth was delicious . I highly recommend the God fire Ramen if you like spicy food. The pork belly was delicious nice fried tender, juicy all the right texture all the right flavor highly recommend the pork belly it was delicious. The gyoza was good but my standard word have changed since I make it at home so it was good, but it wasn't anything special. The fried chicken was also pretty good, nice tender, juicy a really good fry on it so when you bite into them to it had a great crunch would suggest trying . Overall, a great dining experience would definitely recommend to Ramen connoisseur or anybody who wants to try really good Ramen and I will definitely be back.

We stopped in this restaurant while we were exploring little Tokyo a few months ago! We were quickly sat at the bar to watch the chefs cook. We got the katsu curry, dumplings, and spicy ramen. They were a bit slow with the katsu but were extremely kind to us for the wait. Overall, it's a casual vibe with great food. Sad it's closed now

We came here for a quick lunch. We were seated promptly and service was friendly. Its a cozy little place with a overall good ambiance. Now onto the important part, the food! Honestly one of the better ramens I've had. Not too salty and a good proportion of noodle, soup, and add ons(egg, meat, vegetables) . I got these black devil, a mix of spicy tonkotsu and black tonkotsu. The meat is tender, the egg is marinated and soft boiled, and the noodles firm and very slurpable! I will be back!

First time trying this place a couple days ago for lunch. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, mentai rice bowl (lunch combo), pork chashu rice, and pork belly appetizer. The ramen broth is amazing. It was rich but not too fatty too. Noodle is pretty good. I ordered the all inclusive toppings, and one ingredient I found really weird was cabbage. Anyway, the pork bowl is decent and it's really huge, and the mentai bowl is alright especially for $3.5 extra for lunch combo. The seared pork belly appetizer is pretty good and flavorful. The service is good, no complaints there. And the ambiance of the spot is pretty nice. The interior is designed to give Japan vibes. Parking can be tough btw, since this place is located in the heart of Little Tokyo, so parking would be on the streets or the available parking structure around the area. One main thing that would really make me reconsider coming back would be the price. The all inclusive toppings is $7.50 extra, and the pork belly appetizer is $8 for a mere super thin 5 slices of pork belly.

Literally in shock that they closed! This is the best ramen spot in all OC/LA area. Food and atmosphere was great! I loved god fire level 2/3. I visited both the Costa Mesa and little Tokyo location. I am so sad - especially because my boyfriend and I completed 4 stamp cards and were ready to fill out the 5th for our special gift. We are extremely loyal to Hakata Ikkousha. Even visited their Brazil location when we were on vacation.

Really nice ramen spot in Little Tokyo, with interesting strong flavors with customization options. Getting there: Parking available in nearby lots of structures. Seated immediately. Vibe: Cozy ramen feel with open view to the chefs area, signs in Japanese and small tables around with specials on the walls and on the table. Casual spot to relax vibe with ramen. Food: Sheets available for you to fill out your preferred ramen, then the hardness of noodle, strength of flavor, topping options, etc. I really enjoyed the Mentaiko ramen which has an orange hue and is so umami and delicious. The thin noodles at normal hardness has the perfect al dente bite and the flavor is rich, toppings well balanced. My partners ramen is in the rich tonkotsu style and so savory and flavorful. Might be overly strong for some but I am a fan. Very tasty ramen spot with bold flavors. Wonderful!

Came here for the first time and unfortunately the last time too because today was their last day :( so glad I was able to try this place before it officially closed. I got the black devil ramen and spicy chicken karaage. My boyfriend got something else which I totally forgot cause I was obsessed with my ramen lol. Service was great and quick. We'll be sure to check out the other location in Torrance though!

Another solid and satisfying ramen craving. . We came here right after a Kings game looking for something hot to warm up. Hakata Ikkousha hit the spot. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen with extra firm noodles and premium toppings and extra chashu. The bowl was solid. The broth was rich and creamy. The noodles were perfectly done, firm and chewy. My son ordered the Spicy Miso with standard toppings. He enjoyed it. The broth was also rich and creamy. My daughter got their Tsukemen Ramen. She liked it. The dipping broth had nice bonito and pork flavor. The thick chewy noodles was cooked perfectly. We also ordered a side of Mentaiko Don for us to share. Which was just ok. Overall the ramen were delicious. The service was friendly and fast.

Joined the wait list on Yelp but had to wait longer than expected. We checked in and had people leaving so there was a table ready for the longest time. We had to tell the wait staff that the available table would suffice or if they didn't want to give us the table, we could have also split our party. After some convincing we were seated and ordered the food. It's pretty comparable to the one in Irvine. Love the hakata noodles! The broth is packed with flavors but soothing. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly and pieces were huge! There are limited tables inside and some bar seating but it's hard to accommodate large party in this location. Toward the end of our visit, the wait staff were pretty glued to their phones and were not attentive to our needs. We had to really try to get their attention so that we could settle the bill and leave.

TLDR: A ramen spot with a lot of customization options. It's somewhere in the middle when it comes to taste, but it's a place I can recommend to people in the area. Tonkotsu Ramen - A bowl packed with flavor and meat. It's definitely not the best ramen, nor is it top 3. It is, however, a bowl of ramen that can fix a bad day where food is the solution. The chashu was on the less marinated side, but the flavor profile is still good. The egg was cooked well, and the noodles were al-dente. This is a good base order. Fried Chicken w/ Curry and Rice - The chicken karaage was good, and the curry sauce was something I wouldn't mind paying for. Rice is..... rice. Overall, it is a dish I can recommend to someone who isn't feeling ramen that day. Service - The staff did a good job keeping an eye on us and ensuring our waters were refilled. They were kind as well which is a nice touch. Ambiance - It's your ordinary ramen restaurant in LA. I'm afraid I cannot differentiate this place physically compared to the many other ramen shops within a 3-block radius outside of the restaurant's address.

If you couldn't tell by my multiple reviews, this is my absolute go-to Tonkotsu ramen spot. Update from previous review: I realized that I actually order the regular firmness noodles which are already the perfect al dente. Enjoy the new pics!

"Didn't" like it at all. (I'm being sarcastic)

Food always eats. Service is always kind. Love it here. Eating here is like getting into a car crash. The cooks are so talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, sh!! on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.

Black Tonkotsu Ramen, Spicy Tuna Bowl (small)
    Rachel W.

Loved their black tonkotsu ramen! The tonkotsu broth was very rich and had strong flavours of pork bone and garlic. It was also not overly oily or fatty. Requested the noodles to be extra hard and they were nice and chewy. However, the ramen was a bit pricey for having an average portion size and only having one piece of thin chashu, some woodear mushrooms and green onions as toppings. The spicy tuna bowl was good and the fish tasted fresh. Came here for the lunch combo and there was no wait. Service was super quick and the restaurant was tidy.

No standout richness in the broth, no chashu slice that made me pause mid-bite. Just noodles, doing their job. This is actually the second ramen spot I've tried in Little Tokyo, and I'll admit -- I'm starting to feel a little underwhelmed by the neighborhood's ramen scene so far. For a pocket of the city with so much culinary history packed into a few blocks, I expected to be a bit more wowed by now. Two tries in, and I'm still searching for that bowl that stops me in my tracks. What did stand out, though, was the service. The staff at Maruya were genuinely warm and helpful -- attentive without hovering, quick to check in, the kind of hospitality that makes you want to root for the place even when the food doesn't quite deliver. It's the kind of detail that softens an otherwise middling meal. So, Little Tokyo ramen crawl: two down, verdict still out. The people have been great. The noodles? I'm still waiting to be impressed. On to the next bowl.

This is a review only of their happy hour specifically, not of their ramen, which I have not tried…read moreand can't speak to the quality of. I actually became aware of the existence of this restaurant *because* they had a happy hour sign out in front, advertising, among other things, $4 salmon poke "tacos" (which was definitely actually a tostada, but still), and $3 nigori sake to go with it, which sounded pretty bomb - when I passed by the sign on my way to an event at Death & Co nearby, I took note of it but wasn't interested in food. However, when I left that event, an event I thought was going to provide a lot more food than it actually did, I absolutely *was* interested in food, and remembered that the sign advertised not only a traditional happy hour (open until 6 weekdays, 2:30-5:30 Saturday/Sunday), but also the same prices during a reverse happy hour (8 to close weekdays, 9 to close on the weekend). Given it was, at that moment, just after 8 on a Wednesday, I knew exactly where I was going to get the second half of my dinner from. Funny enough, I will say, the salmon poke that drew me in, was just... good. Don't get me wrong, if I were offered them for free, I'd eat at *least* a dozen. They were quite tasty - also like 2 bites worth of food (so eating a dozen of them would not be remotely difficult to do.) Salmon poke is wonderful, but if I wanted poke, I'd go find a poke place - even $4 felt a bit pricey for the size (they're $6 when it isn't happy hour), so I'm glad I decided to also try their karaage. Their karaage is BOMB - some of the best I've had, honestly. $7 for a 4-piece order of their karaage, by contrast, feels like a very reasonable price, and $5 (during happy hour) an absolute steal. Great karaage, great sauce, super fulfilling. The happy hour on karaage would be enough of a draw by itself - but separate from that, so would the $3 happy hour on sake, including both a regular house cold sake and a nigori. As you can see from the picture, they also intentionally overpour their sake, which is not only a very pretty presentation, but also an impressive amount of sake for $3 (heck, for DTLA, a pretty impressive amount of sake even at their normal $5 price). They also have $6 happy hour shochu/sake/juice cocktails that looked pretty good, though I didn't try one. Service was great, too - sometimes you can tell a restaurant is less excited to serve someone who clearly just came in for a drink and a snack, but that was not my experience here. Verdict is, I definitely want to come back and try their ramen sometime, but I would definitely make sure to do it either before or after their prime dinner hour, to take advantage of happy hour pricing. (And I would definitely get more of that karaage as a side. I will probably also make a point to do so as a snack, subsequent to any future events I go to in the area that end around 8 on a weekday, as well, for as long as that happy hour remains such a draw, price-wise.)

Food (3/5): Pretty ok ramen! You come to Tsujita Artisan Noodle in Arts District for the Tsukemen…read more Their tsukemen is creamy with deep umami flavor. Their noodles have a bounciness and chewiness that hold the broth you dip your noodles in. I do wish the broth was hotter because the noodles are traditionally served cold. I've come here for their Naruto collaboration and to try their traditional ramen where their noodles come with the broth and it tastes significantly different than their tsukemen which I didn't have a liking to. It was missing some oomph that not only differentiates this ramen from others I've tasted before but also gets people to keep coming. Service (5/5): Quick service! Every time I've been there hasn't been a wait. Price (4/5): To compensate for taste I do think the price needs to be lowered a bit. The tsukemen to me was definitely worth it. Ambiance (4/5): Cute little modern shop. It won't fit many big parties but it is perfect for duos.

I've been coming to Mr. Ramen since the '90s, and it's still one of my favorite ramen spots. I live…read moreover 90 minutes away now, but anytime I'm nearby, I make a point to stop. This time I brought the family, and everyone loved it. I ordered my favorite, the Fried Chicken Ramen, and it was just as good as I remembered. The spicy garlic edamame was also a must-order. I love the fun atmosphere, too. The walls are covered with artwork, and they even have colored pencils and paper so you can leave your own drawing. Some places just stay consistently good year after year, and Mr. Ramen is one of them. Definitely worth the drive. Staff is always super fast and friendly.

You know what I mean? Solid recommendation from my friend, Mike M. Warning that most everything contains or is cooked in sesame oils and seed oils. Our server Julian was attentive, he noticed that we needed hot sauce without asking! He brought sauce, oil, and powdered chilis. He entertained my questions about what/who is the Mr. Ramen logo (it's not a penguin or frog) and hipped me to some shoegaze music I hadn't heard. They had a wicked sick shoegaze playlist blasting out over the store speakers.
