This is a decently sized restaurant in downtown Culver City that has a modern ramen shop feel. They got decor of their brand all over their walls along with some sort of bar in the back right corner. The modern sleek feel is reflected in their single page laminated menu which had an interesting way of ordering dishes. The service was slow with only one person working the kitchen and one person waiting tables. The emplyees were polite and apologized for the wait. While my friend ordered the miso (pictured), I ordered a modern ramen which had the traditional tonkotsu broth with a unique unami paste. The thin hakata noodles had a good mouth feel and a great springiness. The pork broth had the rich fatty specks of oil which lent a nice smooth texture. The pork was tender enough, with good flavor, but was more akin to pork slices than what I think of chashu. Not bad, but different. The unami paste seemed inperceptable but it could have done some adjustment to the flavor of the pork in the background. All in all, a pleasant ramen experience but nothing that would make me go out of my way to come here.

Ahhhhh Ippudo. One of my most favorite places in Japan. At the Osaka Ippudo - I said "come on, can this place really be this incredible or are we remembering it fondly"? YES IT WAS THAT GOOD. The Osaka Ippudo is the best location to me and I've been to plenty of Ippudo. So I was so happy that they opened in Culver City. When I went it was pretty packed, but the wait was only like 10 minutes or so. The workers were working really hard - there were just a few people doing a lot of stuff. It took a while but my ramen came. The first thing I noticed was that the chasu was not the same. This was more like a pork thin slice at a Korean BBQ. It tasted fine, but wasn't the same. I order an ajitama egg that was cooked perfectly and the menma was good as well. The broth was close - it definitely tasted like Ippudo but it lacked "something". Still, one of the better representations of Japan ramen in the US. Glad I got to try it.

Been wanting to try this place since I didn't get to in Japan. We came for an early dinner on a weekday and were the only party but a few more came in later. -Oishi karaage (4/5): crispy and juicy, a little plain but was good with the spicy mayo sauce they offered -Shiromaru classic (4.5/5): tasty, rich but not overly salty broth, nice and chewy noodles, good amount of chashu, big portion. They even had a limited time promotion for free extra noodles but I was already stuffed lol Interior is spacious and aesthetic with a good amount of tables. Service was nice and checked on us often.

Ippudo delivered on both flavor and overall experience. The ambiance had a modern, lively feel that made it a great spot to catch up with friends without feeling too hectic, and the service was attentive and welcoming throughout the meal. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the classic ramen and the broth was rich, flavorful, and really satisfying without feeling too heavy. There was also a promotion going on for free kaedema (ramen noodles), which worked out perfectly since my friend and I were sharing and it made the meal feel like an even better value. I also liked that you can customize your bowl with extra toppings to make it exactly how you want it. Between the solid food, friendly service, and comfortable atmosphere, I'd definitely come back when the ramen craving hits.

Been wanting to try them since I didn't get the chance in Japan! We were the only ones there at early dinner, but more parties came in as we ate. Service was fast and they checked on us often. Found parking in the nearby public parking lot by the Culver Steps (free for 1 hour, $1 each 30 mins after) Oishi karaage (4/5): light and crispy, some parts were a little fatty. A little plain for me but it was good with the spicy mayo they offered Shiromaru classic (4/5): warm and hearty bowl. I like how much chashu there is since some places are not as generous. Good portion and they even had a limited-time promotion for complimentary extra noodles, but I didn't need it lol

Haru was EXTREMELY nice, has amazing service. I would 10\10 recommend having her as your waitress. The food was delicious, and hot! Haru recommended a new beer to us and let us taste it, well it's our new favorite one! Whenever I'm in town I will definitely come back, the place is extremely clean and the ac is blasting ! Love it! came at around 4pm on a wednesday and there was no wait, but it def got more busy afterwards. the servers were very attentive and i liked the interior of the spot. server recommended me yuzu cocktail and it was so good and sweet i wanted another one. sukiyaki ramen 4/5: ramen always makes me feel pretty full and gross afterwards and i felt that with this one too; but the sukiyaki flavor was good. nothing that was mindblowing but a solid meal.

Great bowl of ramen. I ordered the Karaku Spicy. There was a spoonful for seeet and spicy paste that gave the ramen lots of flavor. The spicy is strong but doesn't linger and cause pain. I ordered the extra serving of noodle and it was a bit more al dente that the original noodles. The waiter was nice and attentive to our large group.

First impression was A+ all around. the decoration of the shop really stood out the most and I loved it. It felt like it's own little world and an escape from LA. The ramen is as good as it is in Japan and NY. The bone broth, I just wish it came with more because of how good it was. You can order more for extra but it was little pricier -- granted, its made with a lot of time and love put into it. Everyone at my table finished our bowls clean. They have different variations of ramen but where tonktosu uses thinner noodles since it's hakata style. I got the AKAMARU MODERN but asked for the spicy sauce on the side. The house sake was one of the best sake's I've had and I wish I asked what they used. Parking, there is street parking or the garage with validation. Service was quick and attentive. I highly recommend trying this place out!

Pretty good ramen in LA! Right by the culver steps, you can park for 2 hours for free in their underground parking and walk across the street. Plenty of seating inside with outside patio available and you can call or make reservations online! The inside was clean and the servers were nice and quick to take our order but the food did take a little bit longer to come out. Came with some colleagues and tried some appetizers which were all pretty tasty! They were a bit pricey, but I enjoyed the flavors. - GOMA Q $8 (4/5) refreshing sesame oil cucumber salad - OISHI KARAAGE $13 (5/5) very crispy with tender flavorful chicken - TAKOYAKI $12 (4/5) mayo octopus balls that melt in your mouth For my entree, I tried their: KARAKA SPICY $22 + $4 tamago (3.5/5) Pork tonkotsu broth, Hakata thin noodles, slow cooked pork loin chashu, scallions. Topped with Ippudo's house blended spiced Niku-miso bolognese, fragrant garlic oil and fried onion chips. The broth was hearty, oily, and flavorful. Had 2 thin slices of pork chashu and scallions. I really enjoyed the thin noodles cooked to perfection and the runny marinated egg. Definitely pricey for $26, but if you live in LA and are looking for somewhere close by when craving ramen, this will do it!

Matcha Cheesecake with strawberries and cream. Tasty but alarmingly small.

First time slurp'n Ramen here. I love, love, loved it! The food was great & both of my waiters were the best. My party of 6 was full & satisfied. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because the Matcha Cheesecake was extremely small for $7. I even jokingly asked the waiter if the rest fell off. At least it was tasty.

attentive service! the server was very nice. they have a restroom. the ambience is fun inside. in my memory, it was not a loud eating experience. love the pickled table side dishes. really loved the taste of shiromaru classic- rich but not overwhelming. didn't try the others but they looked good too.

Ippudo was one of my favorite ramen spots back when I lived in NYC and so I wanted to see how it tasted here. The depth of pork flavor in the broth of the Shiromaru Classic here was incredible and this broth was one of the most delicious tonkotsu ramen broths I have had. The broth of the Akamaru Modern reaches a similar depth of flavor but has an interesting twist to it thanks to the umami paste they add. In my opinion, this spot is a top 3 ramen spot in LA right now, with the other two being Ramen Nagi and Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, mainly because the flavor of the broths here is outstanding. If ramen broth is the main focus, then I believe this spot might have the number 1 ramen broth in LA right now.

No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit. Definitely one of those simple meals that turns into a really good memory.

It's clean, relaxed, and has a comfortable vibe where you can just sit and enjoy your food without distractions. Service is a bit different--it's automated. There wasn't a traditional waiter setup when I went, but everything was smooth and easy to follow, so it didn't take away from the experience. Price came out to about $21 with tip, and I only had water. For the quality, I think it's fair. One small suggestion: it would be great if they offered an option for extra rice instead of having to order a separate portion. The curry was so good, I definitely wanted more rice to go with it. You can choose three toppings for the ramen; I went with green onions, wood ears, and fried onions. The ramen is really delicious. I was impressed by the price and wondered how they could manage that. I think it's because they give you less chashu, which is also nothing to write home about. But they cut no corners on the tonkotsu broth and the chewy noodles, so I was quite happy. The gyoza were a great accompaniment. They did come with a mayo-based dipping sauce, which I had never seen before, but there are other sauces and seasonings at the table for you to add if you like. The place is small: there are two or three tables and a counter that seats about five. You order at an iPad in the front, then grab a spot and wait for your food. It won't be long!
