    Combination Chicken Rice
    Kathy X.

The combo chicken plate is so good! Love the mix of the more traditional hainan chicken with a katsu like chicken. Both are so tender and the sauces really add the flavor! This is a great spot for a quick solid meal! Every item in the menu is also fairly priced too!

DELICOUS! Most delicious food I had eaten in a long time when it comes to sushi. The service is very great. They don't serve beer but were still willing to accommodate by ordering for use from a vendor next door. That is something you don't see often. The place is pretty calm, and chill with good music. Recommend for a late lunch or dinner spot. Parking is small so if lucky you can get a spot.

    Hainanese Chicken

I thought the Hainanese Chicken wouldn't be that tasty considering this place serves a mixed bag of dishes, but it was surprisingly good! Other places had dryer and less flavorful versions of this dish so I'm definitely coming back here next time I have a craving. A nice bonus is that the Hainanese chicken came with two classic sauces with one that was actually spicy. The restaurant is very casual with simple service and looks mainly focused on take-out. I could see this being a reliable neighborhood spot.

I was surprised to stumble upon this Pan Asian restaurant in Culver City! They serve a large variety of Asian dishes from Japanese to Thai. I was interested to try their combination chicken rice dish which contains hainan chicken and thai fried chicken which looked good on the photos I looked up. This dish did not disappoint! The 2 different styles of chicken were flavorful and not dry. I loved the chicken rice it was served over as well. The fried chicken was nice and crispy. The chicken paired well with the side sauces: ginger, sweet and spicy, and spicy garlic soy. While I've had better versions of this dish elsewhere, I'd say this is pretty solid for the Westside. I only wish they used better cuts of chicken because I got a lot of cartilage and bone in my dish.   The dish also came with a side of chicken soup which was warm and flavorful. The combination chicken rice dish was around $15 which wasn't bad! The service was also good and our server was attentive. They have a bathroom which is located in Phovorite, a different restaurant which is in the same plaza. However, that bathroom was pretty dirty. Also, there's a parking lot in the plaza, but limited spaces. Overall, a good experience here and I would come back to try the other dishes. A solid hidden gem for Asian food in Culver.

    Bento box - salmon teriyaki
    Remy H.

Love finding a good bento box! Opted for the salmon teriyaki, spicy tuna cut roll and chicken karaage. Think the portion was perfect! Pleasantly surprised with the quality and size of the spicy tuna roll (wasn't a tiny roll that typically comes in bento boxes at other places)

    Hainan Chicken Rice - Combination

Wow this gem of a place is so uniquely amazing! While they have great sushi and other Japanese food selection, the star of the place is undoubtedly the Hainan Chicken Rice. The Hainan Chicken rice dish is legit (trust me as I've prompted many food hawkers in Singapore including the famous Tian Tian in Maxwell food centre). The rice is fragrant and delicious. The steamed chicken is cooked perfectly. You can also have the chicken fried or if undecided you can have the combination which is half steamed and half fried. The fried chicken batter is crispy, light and seasoned just right, like a very good chicken karaage. They provide you with generous amount of sauce. There are 3 kinds of sauces: the irresistible ginger sauce, the spicy soy sauce (similar to that of Khao Man Gai Thai style chicken rice), and the sweet one for the fried chicken. The ambience is cozy with a few small tables and cutely decorated. Place is clean and easy to find tables for dining in. Service is good and friendly. Note that the restroom is located a few stores down inside Phovorite (same owner). There's a small parking lot which is usually full but there are some street parking as well.

Food - omg the hainan chicken is the BESTTTTT I've ever had on the westside. And you know how hard it is to find a good Asian spot. I usually get the combo chicken plate. The sauces are so so so good. And the chicken is the perfect crunch. The portion size is also great. Service - amazing service! Can't complain Ambiance - it's a small lil spot but it's cute. There's pictures of food all over the walls and it's very colorful and clean.

Very solid, well priced spot. I appreciate the extensive menu. There's something for everyone at Fish and Bowl. Service is also great. And you've got a cute, little, unassuming, and clean set up. Our food was very good. Nothing mind blowing, but definitely got the job done. Fish and Bowl is a great option for a healthy lunch or dinner, at an affordable price point.

    Truc T.

[Verdict] Awesome asian fusion place that pulls inspiration from a variety of different Asian cuisines. Definitely more of a to-go lunch style type of place with the don (rice bowl) style offerings. I'm a bit more of 4.5 but considering the great execution across Japanese & Korean bowls, & going to round up a bit here since the fish has been consistently fresh. Classic Culver City Parking (Limited), good amount of seating, not a restaurant style but to-go style, [Favorite] Chirashi Bowl - about 7-8 pieces of sashimi & two pieces of tamago(egg) pieces over a small variety of veggies. Includes Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, etc. Definitely coming back to try some of the other dishes. Fun Fact is the owner owns the Phovorite Vietnamese Kitchen a couple doors down! There hasn't been a lot of Culver City place that have impressed, but definitely love Fish & Bowl.

11 out of 10!! So glad Fish and Bowl opened up!! I think it's been less than a month since their grand opening and my brother comes to eat here almost everyday. When I go, my go to is Hainanese chicken and rice. My order specifically is steamed white meat chicken with no chicken. It also comes with a chili sauce, a ginger sauce and a chicken broth soup. In Thai we call it "khao man kai". I've also ate their teriyaki bowl. Everything is so delicious. The place is very clean and the service is great!! There's so much I still want to try! You will not be disappointed!

Even though I have dietary restrictions, I'm pretty sure there's going to be something on the menu that I could eat. Now when I got there and I saw the very brief menu, I was stunned and I was like, oh my gosh, I should've looked at the menu before I came here This looks like I'm about to be eating a bunch of raw fish. But to my surprise when I looked closely, I was able to see that there was a whole section of grilled foods and appetizers that I could eat. I ended up ordering: - the miso soup - the edamame - the cucumber salad (for appetizers) - sea bass - oyster mushrooms - shrimp - the ginkgo nuts Every single food item that I ordered was delicious. I was genuinely surprised by how flavorful everything was and I was particularly impressed with the sea bass and oyster mushrooms. These two dishes were phenomenal. I don't know how they made that sea bass so flaky and moist and just melt in your mouth but it was so good. I don't know what sauce they put on top of it but that thing was amazing. The oyster mushrooms were so good that we ordered two more orders of it. For the edamame, the only thing I didn't like was that it was served cold. I don't know if that's like a traditional way of serving it or something but I'm used to having my edamame be served warm or hot so that was unusual for me. The server was amazing, super attentive and very kind. He always made sure we had what we needed and there was even something that was mistakenly served to us but he took it off the bill and allowed my friend to eat it anyway so we were grateful for him. He was also really good at explaining the menu and the dishes that he liked. The vibe in here is social but a little classy. There were these ladies that were sitting to the left of us and one of them just randomly started talking to us and asking us if we were from the neighborhood, which was a little odd because... why are you asking me those questions??? Other than that the vibe was fine and I would definitely come back here again. One thing to note though is that the food is served kind of like tapas style so if you're expecting massive portions and to be stuffed to discomfort, this is not the place where that's going to happen.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone rave about this place (or I guess they don't pay extra to show up at the top of searches ?). Went on a weekday for lunch and there were a couple of parties already waiting outside the door before opening time. It's an unassuming, minimalist space but feels cozy inside. They had very reasonably-priced lunch sets that were surprisingly filling. Nigiri and rolls were fresh, with balanced flavors. The Uzumaki set would have been fine by itself but we ordered a couple of rolls on top and ended up a bit stuffed. The ume shiso cucumber roll was probably my least favorite item. The plum was a bit too prominent and there weren't enough savory flavors to balance out the tartness. Everything else exceeded expectations. Overall would highly recommend!

No reservations but worth a wait (but honestly, only ever had to wait 30-40 mins during peak dinner time on Friday once). It's a small space but it doesn't feel crammed, it's cozy and really well kept. The quality and freshness of the fish is impossible to beat. The nigiri melts in your mouth. The best part of coming to dinner here is their prefix meal options. When my boyfriend and I come together we never have to strategize what to get. I always order the Uzumaki & he gets the Uzumaki Plus prefix meals & we each get a miso soup. The ceviche sampler leaves you wanting more each time, the edamame starter is the perfect size, and with each bite of the nigiri I'm smiling and nodding my head in disbelief. You get to choose between two cut rolls with the Uzumaki prefix meals, either the crunchy shrimp or spicy tuna -- the shrimp is my favorite. We decided to try the chocolate donut with vanilla ice cream today and it did not disappoint. Now to the service -- we've never had better service. Each employee greets you with a smile, and as soon as your plate is empty or a piece of trash shows up on your table the staff immediately takes it away. I personally love eating the pickled ginger and some places can be stingy, not this place! Immediately they are bringing us more ginger, water, etc whatever it is, without us asking. It's incredible the attention to detail the staff has and they make coming back such a warm and friendly experience. The cherry on top? There's free parking in a structure attached to the building. We recommend parking in the structure over the street as sometimes there can be interesting characters outside. You know it's an amazing restaurant when you can't decide which is better, the service or the food! Go, you won't regret it!!!

No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit.
