It was good however it was a tad sweet. Maggie was the friendliest bartender I had ever met. She made small talk whenever she passed my side of the bar. I ordered chips with pico de gallo ($8). The bar seems small, but cozy, with wooden tones and soft lighting throughout, however through the rear door opens a staircase down to the back yard which is also nice and spacious. I was served at the bar by the fantastic Ayana, who made me a great, tasty, Rye Old-fashioned. Her service was great, she was speedy and easily handled the crowd that grew there as a group came in for a birthday/farewell party. The party really got started as the DJ played a mix of classics and soul to get the patrons dancing, and the evening flowed. I had a great time, great conversation, enjoyed excellent service and drinks until the early morning. I am definitely coming back to enjoy Mathilde, the great drinks and bartenders - not to forget the music!

This is a good bar…read more I'm not sure I would know about Docky's if it wasn't across the street from Red Hook Tavern (an excellent spot with one of my all-time favorite burgers, if you haven't been), but it's the most convenient spot to continue your evening after RHT kicks you out because you've been hogging a prime table for way too long. It's clean, and comfortable. It's not too crowded on a Wednesday (I thought they used to have karaoke on Wednesdays, but not this past one). The artwork is interesting, the bartenders are friendly, and they've got hazy IPAs for my friend who likes such things, Guinness for me when I'm winding down the night, and all the booze you need. We were already more than a bottle of wine deep per person, but if you're looking to get turnt, they have great beer/shot specials ($7 for Old Overhold and a High Life), and really all the prices are great for Brooklyn in 2024. The bar had a table in the front two corner with around 5 chairs per table and a table for maybe 2-3 people in front of the dj/karaoke setup. It happened to be karaoke night. Also, noone was sitting at the bar area at the time. There's also just one bathroom in the back of the bar. Since we just had dinner, we only ordered drinks. As always, we ordered 2 long islands. The drinks were lite at first, so it didn't feel as if there's much alcohol in them, but it hits later. Overall not a bad drink for the cost. I believe it was $12 per drink. Of course one drink isn't enough so we decided to get another drink similar to a long island but has blue curacao. We showed the server/bartender a picture of it and they said they could make it. We've never had the drink before so I can't compare it to other places. The drink was pretty good, but we still prefer the long islands more. Not that the drink didn't have enough alcohol though. Moving onto the vibes of the bar... it's very different from city vibes. It may be that my friend and I were the youngest ones there and everyone else were much older. Kudos to the singers though, they had such good lungs to assist with their singing. They were very much in tune and on beat. Would I come here again? Yes. But maybe not on karaoke night, since it was really difficult to hear my friend speak and have a conversation without asking him to repeat himself.

I've walked by this bar many times and as silly as it may sound, I had no idea this store front with large glass windows was a bar! The store front is welcoming with its classic facade from another time. Inside it is very roomy with a bar to the left with enough seats for about 5-6 people. Then there are tables among a huge selection of beers in fridge units. In the back there is an outdoor seating area where most of the customers congregated that day. With its wood interior the place had a very classic feel even though it has clearly been renovated over the years. I wound up ordering a beer that had been in bourbon barrels. It was really strong and had a sweet flavor, typical of this type of beer. I regret I didn't jot down the name of it, but the chalk board to the right of the bar had good descriptions of every beer available at the time. The bartender was super nice and friendly and the customers all seemed very chill. The vibe in the place was comfortable and friendly. And in the summer the A/C was blasting and it felt SO GOOD! I'm happy I found Hops Hill so I have another watering hole on my list of places to visit in the area. Check it out!
