    Nice, clean restaurant
    Jana G.

This is a nice and clean restaurant. I stopped by today and had the best chicken fried steak ever! The food is very good, country cooking. The gravy was so tasty- all of the food was. The waitress was very sweet. Highly recommend this place :)

    Baked Chicken over beans.

In a nutshell, Ropers is fresh home style country cookin. I have enjoyed breakfast and lunch here for over a year now and wanted to keep it a secret! But it's too good not to share. I have my go-to's, breakfast tacos with a coffee, chicken fried steak or wings for lunch and I have to have green-beans every time. But occasionally they have specials; one off or repeats that are hard to pass up. This last visit I had was extra enjoyable. They had a baked chicken with beans on special. I enjoy a good baked chicken but this one is right at the top of my most fav list. Baked perfectly, fork tender, cooked through and super juicy. The beans underneath still had bite and were seasoned just right! I could eat this once, even twice a week! It was filling and so so good. It's off a busy farm road in unassuming Simonton, TX. If your ever passing through, make sure you give them a try.

    Patty melt!

We enjoyed the restaurant portion of the store/restaurant mix. We were greeted quickly and sat down in the back. The AC was out, but it wasn't too bad- better than being in the direct sunlight outside. The girls who waited on us were sweet and were happy to help us! I ordered a patty melt with sautéed mushrooms and onions. I had a side of mashed potatoes with cream gravy and broccoli and cheese casserole. It was tasty, but didn't have a ton of flavor. No problem, added some salt real quick and it worked out. The guys we were with ordered a taco salad, bacon and jalapeño cheeseburger, and fried shrimp. They were good they said! I haven't been in this area before, but I'd probably stop by and eat again if I end up coming through and I'm hungry.

First, if you don't like a country store that is part grocery store and part restaurant then stay away. Now that being said if you want a good meal with good people serving you, please try this place. We ate the omelettes, pancakes, hash brown and bacon all we enjoyed. I also previously ate the breakfast burritos which were good. One last thing they sell crayons made of gum, awesome! Open Tuesday-Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner. Daily Specials, including Friday Night Fish and Saturday Steak. Probably has 10-12 tables.

Let me start by saying I've been here multiple, multiple times & I've never had any food items that weren't good. I always get breakfast (even if it's lunch time) so I don't know much about the lunch items. Not only is the food outstanding with a creative twist, it's consistent. Over the years, the place has expanded several times so now there is a decent amount of dine-in seating in addition to the outdoor seating. The place still stays packed but with their wait list in advance/text notification system & efficiency in seating customers, if there is a wait things move along smoothly. Additionally, anyone who is waiting knows it's worth the wait!! The service staff are friendly. The atmosphere is homey & they decorate for the various holidays & seasons. Owner/chef Lori is always walking around asking guests if everything is ok. On at least 2 occasions she happened to chat with me/my guest about some dietary restrictions & she whipped something up for us to try. My go-to dish is the harvest breakfast where you can pick 4 breakfast items from a list. This is a great way to sample more menu items. Here's my take on some of my favorites: - Sourdough pancakes are thin & really delicious. - Belgium Leige waffle is very sweet with the pearl sugar "nuggets" in them so taste them before you add a lot of syrup. - Scrambled eggs are well seasoned, not bland. - Avocado & tomato or the fresh fruit are nice light touches as one of the side item choices. - Fried chicken tenders are really good. Spice level 3 (medium) is not that spicy. It's flavorful. - Grilled chicken tenders are good. As much as I typically eat grilled or baked chicken, I allow myself to choose fried for these. - Grits are creamy. I get them with no cheese. I'm not a big grits person but I do like these! The menu is very extensive. It includes vegan, vegetarian, keto & gluten free. Is the breakfast a little pricey, the answer is "it's all relative." Sometimes it's just worth paying for a great meal. In case you haven't gotten the message, Harvest Kitchen is a must try. Do yourself a favor & have a visit. I'm betting it will stay on your list as a repeat eating spot!! Tips: - Use the text message wait list & signup before you leave your house. - You can always get 1 pancake on the side for $5. - 15% gratuity is included at checkout, as you pay you'll get options for an additional % or custom % like 0%, 3, 5% or more.

Tables are well spaced plenty of room eight crisp environment really just a very comfortable ambience. The services superlative from the moment you walk in in which you are immediately accommodated to the server who takes an order and then the servers who serve the food which is not necessarily one in the same. It's simply a very efficient service system and very pleasant if you're a customer. You get warm food. In my case I had hollandaise with Salman underlying it, which was very good. The eggs were cooked perfectly the hollandaise not by any means obnoxious but a very deliberate Irving and a wonderful salad, which both underlines the egg and is served as a side with the eggs, which were perfectly poached. In so far as the buzz is concerned, there are wines and beer available and really quite an extensive menu in both. I enjoyed a beer with mine, which I know it sounds like an odd combination, but it worked quite well for me. Really this is a wonderful addition to Katy options for breakfast or brunch.

They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday until 330. The brunch menu is huge. It is not a super large menu, which I feel very endearing. We decided to try the bagel and lox with cream cheese, the Buzz burger with fries, and their homemade chips. They start off by bringing you this beautiful craft of bottled water. That to me was an amazing bonus. We also ordered two sodas which came in a can. I sort of wish it was a more of a fountain drink than one can of soda for the price. *Now service was super slow. However, the waitress did come and tell us that they are running a little behind and she apologized for it and she was super sweet, so that made up for the weight. How do I known how long it was going to take, I don't know if I would've stayed, but in the end, the food was amazing. The burger was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend is a hamburger snob and he kept saying how good it was how fresh it was and how perfectly cooked it was. They serve you shoestring fries that feel like they're double fried and they were phenomenal. My bagel was toasted perfectly and had a very good amount of cream cheese and lox. As a Jewish girl living in the area that I do, it's very hard to find good bagels with lox and cream cheese. I will most definitely be back for this sooner than later. The homemade chips took quite a while to come out, and at one point I was ready to say we don't need it, but these potato chips beat Buccees beaver chips, 100%. They were super fresh and very crunchy and tasted amazing. I will definitely recommend those to anybody that orders some. My boyfriend then ordered a tropical sunrise smoothie and it was so tasty and tasted like a strawberry banana smoothie. Now once again that did take a long time to come out and at one point, we were wishing we had not ordered it but once we did get it, it was really good and I highly recommend it. The restaurant is not very large and it's the perfect brunch spot for anybody looking for a smaller Cafe with very good choices.

From the kitchen, everything we've ever had here was fantastic, but I especially recommend their steak. The cherry on top here was the treatment my wife (a vegetarian) received when ordering a slightly nuanced modified salad. She wanted the Jalapeño Chicken Salad with the chicken substituted for avocado.
