Cute lil burger stand. I was in and out. Bellville is a small town and this is a local joint. Everything made to order, so don't expect to grab and run. Unless you call ahead. Staff were courteous and helpful. I will go back. All I've tried so far was a burger and fries. So much more to try. I work in town and live in another town. So, I only go when I forget my lunch. My friends & I stopped by after visiting Newman's Castle. I ordered a Junior Cheeseburger, which was the perfect portion, topped with chili. I also had a side of crinkle cut fries which were super crispy! The burger was so yummy. One of my friends ordered a pull pork sandwich & she absolutely left no crumbs ! One of the owners was working the grill & she was super nice & so was the rest of the staff. So I haven't been here in like 20 years, but this place never disappoints. The burgers are salty and delicious. Everything you want from a juicy burger. My burger was pretty good. The onion rings were not the worst I've ever had but not nearly the best. My wife liked her burger, too, and said the fries were pretty good. The restroom looks like it is cleaned annually, and it's time is coming up soon. I hope they keep the kitchen a lot cleaner than this, but if I worked with the health department it would be placed on a priority list for quick inspection. Seems popular with the locals, but not much is around. Very friendly. Dine here. Don't use the restroom, and close your eyes. I value cleanliness in the places I dine, hence the low score. read more

Growing up in Houston, we would venture out to Belleville on random days to buy sausage at the Belleville Meat Market. Very random, I know. One day, my parents found The Hill. It has a mom-and-pop shop feel that welcomes your hungry tummies and happy tastebuds. We instantly fell in love with the burgers. The meat is perfectly juicy without being greasy. The bread to meat ratio is ideal. The bacon cheeseburger is what dreams are made of. Get crazy, treat yourself and add some avocado to that. I recently came back here with my parentals and brought the boyfriend since he was visiting Texas. Everyone was in love and so happy after this very filling & nostalgic burger adventure. It's March 11, 2018 and have to say the review by Thomas K. A year ago is valid today. Food is not notable, all frozen products fried up -- crinkle fries, tots, catfish, steak fingers, burgers, etc. I posted the recent menu in photos. Steak fingers are ok, hamburgers are fresh and look like they would taste good, but they are just boring - I can't really think of another way to describe it. The place is a 1950s theme decor with old CocaCola signs, and playing 1950s top forty hit tunes, clean & friendly. Its definitely not your destination burger stop, but it'll do when you don't want to make the trip to Old Kenney store a few miles away. We'll probably stop again from time to time, when in Bellville, but mainly because there is not another burger place in town (Dairy Barn doesn't count) read more

The iced tea is the weakest tea you'll ever see or taste. It doesn't even look like tea but more like tapwater combined with a few drops of food coloring. It's a disgrace to Texas. The portion sizes of the fries, tots, and fried pickles are so tiny. A burger place like this in the country should have the best fresh brewed iced tea you'll ever drink and should have the largest portion sizes you'll ever eat. read more

I grew up in Bellville. This is one of the OG's of the town. If you pass through here hungry and don't stop here, you're missing out. Look, order whatever you want...it's all good. But, the best thing is their double meat cheeseburgers. They're solid. They have different breads and cheeses you can use, but whatever you decide, just get the damn cheeseburger. Their fries are pretty dang solid too. Chocolate malts are always a good choice as well. This place is not fancy. It's a burger joint. It's smells like a burger joint. It's in a little bitty town that hasn't changed much at all since I graduated from high school. We like it that way. Do yourself a favor and stop for a while, but don't stay for too long. read more

For a place that specializes in hamburgers I'm not to sure that I would travel great distances for this particular restaurant. Nothing was particularly objectionable about the cheeseburger and french fries I ordered however nothing was notable either which after a number of great Burger Restaurants (Bernie's, Texas Border's Bar & Grill) and food trucks (Flip n' Patties) I found somewhat disappointing. Please don't get me wrong, there are restaurants from which I would flee which is not the case here however I would not knock down walls to get here either. The hamburger patty is I suspect frozen, 'grain and meat' with a subtle but not exceptional flavor, a bun which was neither creative not notable and accoutrements which were acceptable but not outstanding. The french fried were thin and good but the portions for the price not necessarily the best deal around. I don't like to offer criticism typically as Yelp is a tool that can impact a business however I am a foodie and do not want to leave the impression that I would recommend folks go out of their way for this restaurant. read more

Okay so first let me say yes the Bacon Double Meat was very good, but I think that for it to be tasty you need to ask for it to be homestyle. She explained that homestyle was the fresh burger, I'm assuming otherwise you will get the frozen I saw them take out the freezer. Anyway we also had a kids mean bacon cheeseburger which I think was the frozen because it wasn't as juicy or tasty as the homestyle. Fries were okay I guess. I also ordered a frito pie (which I enjoyed but..) when I recieved the order the frito pie was obviously the first thing that was prepared because it was soggy (that wasn't the problem) it was extremely noticeable that it was put in the microwave to heat up the container it came in was burned by the cheese that melted in the microwave and I could taste the cheese was a bit burned... like I said I enjoyed it but it being a business I would expect something better than what I can make at home. Now, the service was disappointing, the lady (teen) taking my order seemed very annoyed by me. I did take a while to order, it was my first time there. Ordering was also confusing for me, I didn't want to ask because well she was already annoyed. We walked in the restaurant after church and as we stood there, a woman working answered a gentleman with his little daughter rudely. She yelled at him and said,"I have one register so you need to just get in line!" The way that she yelled was rude and embarrassing for him. I glared at her. Then I told him that we were leaving because she was ugly to him. All of us walked out. She lost 7 customers due to her rudeness. Drove an hour and a half to celebrate hubby's birthday lunch upon recommendations of friends. Ordered Swiss mushroom and Country specialty burgers totaling $30. plus tip. Burgers were fair but no better than Five Guys, Fuddruckers or Willie's Ice House. Booths and tables were filthy with crumbs and grease and floors had trash all over them. No one was available to wipe tables. I asked for a to go box for half of a meal and was given a food tray with food stains on it! It was unacceptable. Will not return. read more

The most awesome burger joint anywhere around Bellville or the neighboring towns!!! And don't get me wrong, I love Sonics and the Texas Stop Sign too (DQ). My dad has been going here since he was a kid in the 50's-60's and I think maybe there was a slump in this place's quality back maybe in the 1990's or so, not sure, but all I can tell you FOR SURE is that these days, this place is THE BOMB. And has been renovated in the more recent past. If I had no qualms with getting ever fatter I'd eat here all the time, because they have great ice cream and shakes and sodas and floats!!! But their burger options are great, as well as chicken sandwiches and other great little items you don't normally find at a burger joint, like fried okra (!!!!) chicken fried steak, and so on. Heck if I had the pleasure of working in Bellville and not having to commute toward the big city, I'd be lunching here a few times a week. Explore their menu as there are a surprising amount of options--and upgrade your burger bun to sourdough I think it is, whatever it is, as it is even better than the normal buns, which are already good. Pop on over to dine out, in, or in your car! You'll be glad you did, either way. Unless you are jerk. Then you'll never be happy. So sad to see Citizen's Lumberyard next door closed and gutted. My bike team and I stopped by The Hill on the first day of the MS150 (bike ride from Houston to Austin in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society). The Hill is a tiny burger joint with a small inside and a few tables on the outside. And, if you go there and are wondering where the bathroom is, it's out back. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the sweet potato fries. The chicken sandwich was kind of bland, but most grilled chicken sandwiches at fast food places are. A plus was that it was served on a whole wheat bun. I didn't taste the burgers, but my friends said they were pretty good. If I had only ordered the sweet potato fries, The Hill would have received 4 stars. They were light, crisp, and some of the better sweet potato fries I've ever tasted. I don't know when the next time you'll be in Belville, but, if you happen to be there in the morning and around lunch on the first day of the MS150, grab a seat outside. The Hill serves your typical drive-in style burger and you won't find any "specialty" burgers on the menu. The patties are only about a centimeter thick, so I opted for the double to make sure I got enough beef in each bite. The temperature and flavor of the meat was great, and I like how the cheese was properly melted rather than slapped on at the end. The bun, buttered and lightly toasted, was maybe the best part. So many places skip this step, but it makes a huge difference when the bun is warm and just crispy enough to avoid becoming a soggy mess. Unfortunately the fries were lacking in flavor, cold, and somewhat soggy. They turned out to be "Krinkle Kut", which reminded me of the Ore Idea fries you buy frozen and make at home in the oven. The Hill may very well take the time to do the special cut from fresh potatoes, but the fact I couldn't tell the different from the frozen bag makes that seem unlikely. I learned later that the onion rings are real popular there, so I guess I should have opted for them instead. read more
