    Onion Rings

Best item on the menu is the chili dog. The onion rings are delicious, but it's salty . The plain dog with kraut and relish was fine, but the chili dog I thought tastes the best. $4.50 for chili dog, $4.00 for plain dog and $4.00 onion rings.

TLDR: Famous quick stop in the Fort Lee area. Chili cheese dog. Cash only. Tasty. I've driven by Hiram's countless times but only tried it the other day. It gives me a very similar vibe to New Park Pizza in Howard Beach, the hot dog and burger version. IYKYK. It's cash only, you can order at the counter and there's some seats both inside and some benches in the parking lot. The chili cheese dog was very tasty. Standard bun but the frankfurter itself had a very snappy casing. Well-cooked and served HOT. The chili was also hot and there's a slice of American underneath. It melts together in a much better way than the standard nacho cheese like sauce I'm accustomed to. So nice, we had it twice. I try not to eat too many hot dogs but if you're craving it - do it right. I'd definitely come back to try some other things, maybe not after I just ate dinner but it was still a good idea.

Finally tried outdoor dining and it was wonderful on a warm spring day. To my chagrin, they discontinued their Birch Beer, but their Root Beer they allowed me to sample was still pretty good! I ordered onion rings & chili cheese dog loaded with relish, k&m and brought it out to the back patio packed neatly in a cardboard box. The dog hit the spot as always - fresh bread, great tasting fried dog w/ classic condiments, paired perfectly with a cold bottle of miller lite. Not sure why I keep ordering the onion rings though... must be the grease junkie in me but it's not that good (not enough onion, too much coating & greasy). Wouldn't order it again unless I wanna be transported back to the early 90s roller skating rink food. Good to eat once in a (long) while (wife says), but I say the classic taste cannot be denied!

Went here on a Saturday around 1:30pm. A constant in/out but we got a table. Casual place with menu that consists of hot dog, burger, fries, drinks. Hot dogs snap when you bite them. Order at the counter. Bring to your table. Pay when you leave. Tables seat 4 in a very cozy setting. Private parking lot. One of the best affordable meals money can buy.

We go here whenever we crave some good hot dogs. Had a cheeseburger, plain dog for the kid, souerkraut for wife, chilli cheese RO dog for myself. Do not forget to add mustard because the dogs are not salty, which I like.

Hiram's 1345 Palisade Ave. Fort Lee, NJ 07024 Hot Dog with Red Onions Hot Dog with Chili and Cheese Onion Rings Sausage Sandwich Located in Fort Lee approximately one mile from the George Washington Bridge is a locally owned restaurant that specializes in the good old fashioned American hot dog. There is a decent amount of indoor seating and plenty of decorative wall art. The hot dog was smothered in red onions. Some of the onions fell of the dog, but that's definitely a good problem as it means the plentiful onions were piled high and deep. In my personal opinion, chili and cheese both make excellent toppings on a frankfurter. Visually the cheese is hard to see, but it is hidden beneath a heaping mound of chili. If you aren't craving a hot dog, check out a couple of the other comfort food menu items I explored. The battered onion rings are piping hot. While crunchy on the outside, they are soft and savory on the inside. It's a win-win whether you choose to have them plain or with a dipping sauce of your choice. This flattened sausage patty is smothered in marinara sauce and served on Italian bread. It is simple, yet satisfying. It was a pleasant experience eating classic food in this casual establishment. #hotdogs #hotdoglovers #hotdogwithredonions #redonions #chiliandcheese #hotdogwithchiliandcheese #sausagesandwich #onionings #Hirams #fortleenj #foodstagram #localbusiness #foodreviews #njfoodie #eats #localspots

A New Jersey institute that has stood the test of time. There isn't much to say about Hiram's, been here forever. Serving up deep fried hot dogs and burgers and all the classic sides. You can eve be order a beer. Small place with two entrances, one where you can stand to eat or pick up to go, another where they offer some tables. Very old school spot, cash only. Great service. If you want a hot dog or burger you gotta stop here.

I stopped in recently with my girlfriend as I've been wanting to try this place since I first saw Anthony Bourdain come here and say it was his favorite hot dog. But since I became vegan/vegetarian in 2017 I rarely eat meat unless it's a special place or a rare occasion, but over the past month I loosened up a little and ate some here and there so I made it a point to come here due to this being a special place. It's a cool little spot in a great area. I've always loved Fort Lee. The atmosphere is vibey yet fast faced. You feel a sense of urgency while eating here as everyone is in a rush to eat and go. Which I'm down with. We ordered a dog to share with mustard and sauerkraut on it. F****ck it was good! So good that my girlfriend said, "Let's get another one babe!" I loved that! She also added some relish to this one which made it even better. I've had alot of great hot dogs across the United States and I have to say, this is the best one I've had thus far. Highly Recommended and thanks for the great service and vibey atmosphere. I'll be back soon to have more dogs plus I'll make sure to enjoy a beer and a burger the next time as well. Enjoy :P

Took a trip to Fort lee to check out Hiram's on a Sunday morning-on the outside the place exuded nostalgia, and the inside matched-good vibes all around. Only two other guests when we walked in, ordered a couple of dogs, couple of sodas and an order of fries. Less than $20 (cash only!) for all, food came out quickly, piping hot. They had a small bar area, about six tables inside, and plenty of outdoor seating, and fairly ample parking. Staff was great, providing good service. Might have to make this an annual trek!

It's not summertime if you haven't stopped at Hiram's Roadstand, one of the last few places on earth where prices haven't risen exponentially. As a pescetarian, I especially love their dirt-cheap draft beer and cheese fries. The 2 slices of American cheese between an inside-out bun is fine. I would lose it if they added a vegan hot dog option to the menu, but I don't think that's in the cards for old school places like Hiram's.

Worth a special trip? No. Worth a slight detour? Sure. This is quintessential greasy spoon. The chili cheese dog... awesome! (the cheese comes in slice, not liquid form). The burger is full of sodium and delicious with the grilled onions. The onion rings are doused in batter and actually cling to the onion. You can add your own relish and other stuff yourself. Ask for mayo, they have it. These guys have this grub down to a science. Keep your expectations mediocre, and you will be thrilled. Yes the place is a little dirty, no the guys will not put on a Disney dance for you when you come in, yes you will leave satisfied. I visited around 3pm on a Friday, and found parking and seating, no problem. Cash only.

Finally got to visit one of the destination hot dog joints! Very good fried hot dogs! I had the chili cheese dogs... Chili was fine nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad. I like the slice of cheese they put on the bun. Also had fries which were typical fast food fries. Good. The onion rings were pretty good as well. Also had a bite of cheeseburger, typical cheeseburger and nothing outrageous. They have tables inside, areas to sit outside for nice days. They sell beer! Small parking lot is available but it gets crowded during meal times. Service was good, friendly. Definitely glad I came and if I'm in the area and have a hankering for a hot dog I would go again.

We had the cheeseburgers with chili cheese fries. I found the burger a bit dry but still tasty. The chili cheese fries were very good. They were crispy and delicious.

Ordered the cauliflower app- the sauce was too watery and didn't coat or stick to the cauliflower. If it was thickened it would glaze the cauliflower and you could actually appreciate how good it was and the dish would be so much better. For the mains we ordered the salmon burger and lemon ricotta pancakes. Both were ok but nothing amazing. The worst part was the speakers playing a happy birthday song that was extremely loud that even 2 other tables looked confused and disturbed by it. It played for well over a few minutes. I can appreciate a party being celebrated but not at the expense of the patrons in the restaurant. Also just a heads up- they add a 2.5% service charge to the bill. The restaurant has an interesting history. Even though the original opened in Cresskill, NJ, it unfortunately has permanently closed. However, not only is the Edgewater location amazing, but it had the guts to open during COVID (2022), survived, and is succeeding. The restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. Their decorations are tasteful, the presentation of the food is award winning, and the service is stellar. I started with a Mocha Cappuccino and it was so good. Served in a large mug, an airy/creamy top, and had the perfect amount of mocha happiness throughout. Before the meal even started, we were graciously given Za'atar (a popular Middle Eastern spice blend with an earthy, tangy, and nutty flavor, toasted sesame seeds, and sumac, with salt). It was crunchy, drizzled with oil, and I enjoyed how each thin pita bite made the spices explode all over the table. The entrees were: Strawberry French Toast. The next was the Falafel Platter (chickpeas and fava bean balls, served with tahini sauce, pickles, turnips, tomato, and mint). The last selection was the Avocado Toast (Citrus cured salmon over multigrain bread, tomatoes, onions, capers & citrus vinaigrette). Not only were all of these dishes beautifully presented, but all were filling, as well. My Avocado Toast kept me full for the rest of the day and the salmon was enjoyably salty, thin, and delicious. I noticed a dessert in their display case and ordered it. The dessert was the Riz Bil Ashta (Lebanese rice cream, infused with orange blossom water, blended with milk and cheese, and topped with crushed pistachios). This dessert tasted like a regal custard and the pistachios added an enjoyable texture that makes it recommended. Of course, I had to cap the meal with a Mocchiato. This amazing beverage followed the rest of the meal..... delicious, eyes closed good, and every sip was full-flavored. Thank you, Madison Café and Grill, for presenting a memorable meal and I wish you continued success.
