Tonkatsu ramen with black garlic add-on
    Alice C.

Love this ramen spot in Sorrento valley! Not only is there plenty of parking but the ramen broth and noodles tastes rich and flavorful. The restaurant also has a clean and minimal decor which adds to the overall ambiance. I really liked the tonkatsu ramen and the black garlic add on but honestly it didn't need the black garlic because the broth was so rich already!

Quick service and good food. This is just what I needed. The ramen was delicious. I was very impressed with the vegetarian ramen that my husband ordered. The broth was delicious and I couldn't even tell it was vegetarian. I would definitely order that again. My son loved the tonkatsu ramen and daughters enjoyed the salmon poke bowl. The entire family left happy and full. We will definitely be back!

This restaurant is right next to Moment Sushi. The ambiance had minimalistic decor, and the service was friendly. I appreciate the complimentary fruit water that they serve. They mentioned that they currently don't have an alcohol license yet, but that they will potentially get it in the future. So right now, all of their drinks are non alcoholic. I decided to order the yuzu pina colada and it was refreshing. I would order it again. For one of our sides, we ordered the eel tempura buns. As an eel lover, I felt like it was just okay since the eel tempura wasn't crispy enough, compared to what I normally get when I order tempura. On the other hand, I enjoyed the crispy chicken, which had garlic and was soy marinated. For the ramen, you can choose to get thick or thin noodles. You can also choose to substitute the pork for chicken or tofu. I got the tonkotsu ramen with thick noodles, and felt that the broth was well balanced. You can add garlic and house spicy sauce for free. You can also ask for it on the side. The black garlic oil is also delicious, but costs $1.60 more. One of my friends got the pork rice bowl, and enjoyed it but felt like there should be a sauce offered on the side to pair with the amount of rice in the bowl. My other friend got the shoyu ramen, and enjoyed the rich soy sauce flavor that it had. All in all, this is a solid spot if you are craving ramen!

First off vibes are immaculate here, you're greeted warmly by the well-trained and friendly staff right when you enter. The decor is modern and trendy with warm wood bamboo finishes. We came to eat with four and happened to get here a lot earlier than the other two in our group. The servers were so friendly and understanding took great attentive care of us while we waited. For food: Tonkotsu ramen: really enjoyed it with the thick noodles although my chashu was a little overcooked Rice bowl: my friend ordered the pork rice bowl. He said the flavor was good but he had the same slightly overcooked chashu. Eel Temoura buns: good concept, enjoyed the taste but tempura was a little soggy Karage: well executed, crispy skin, juicy chicken - enjoyed it Overall, this was a very good experience, loved the service it was a strong point and really liked the food just a few minor hiccups. Would come back!

Relatively smaller restaurant and we had a pretty large group so it did take a while to get seated. Service was good and they had fruit infused water. Ramen was rich in flavor and pork chashu was well seasoned, thick and still crispy on the outside. You can also ask for garlic or the house spicy sauce on the side. Shoyu Ramen: 5/5 - good presentation and tasty

This expanding chain ramen business has opened its newest location in Sorrento Valley where an Indian cuisine restaurant used to reside. I have dined at their Hillcrest shop a few times before including once for a Yelp event. The inside of the suite was simply decorated with light wood tones. About 40 diners could be seated, but beware that some of the seats were stools without any lumbar support. My friend and I arrived right as they opened on a weekday. By the time we finished, all of the seats were occupied from the lunch hour rush. A one page menu sheet listed their three types of ramen (tonkotsu, shoyu, vegan). Spicy cold dipping noodles (aka tsukemen) were also available. Four rice bowls, eight sides, two desserts, and an assortment of non-alcoholic beverages made up the rest of the menu. I selected the Shoyu Ramen which was a bowl of handcrafted thick noodles containing chicken broth, aged soy sauce, two pieces of pork chashu, green onion, spinach, bamboo, kaiware sprouts, and half of a soft boiled egg. The broth was light as I preferred it over a heavier liquid. The meat was soft and flavorful. My friend picked one of the rice bowls which had more heat than expected. For the price and quality of my food, I gave a four star rating for HiroNori Craft Ramen.

Went here for the first time and really loved the service and atmosphere right away. Its a smaller space but well utilized. The staff were all very friendly and made the experience even better. We ordered the tonkotsu ramen, the spicy tuna rice, and cold dipping noodle. Loved all three dishes, especially the tuna crispy rice. My toddler kept asking for more noodles throughout the dinner so that was a major plus for us! Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work!

I love going to nearly open spots and on top of that to have a Ramen chain that opened up close by my house is a real big benefit. I took my work team with me. We ordered as much food as we could eat and I was there. It was definitely five stars. Starting off with the battered eel buns, that was a unique change from your regular pork bun buns (which they also have). The salmon crispy rice was pretty good. I would say lower quality than what you would get at nobu but does the job. The Shoyu Ramen had such a nice and light broth that you could not tell. This was a soup with all the ingredients inside that included spinach and a perfectly grilled pork belly with your egg and sprouts. It was all really delicious. My coworkers raved about the water that was infused with fruit and the friendly service. I would definitely come back because for the price point what you're getting and the quality of food they were all top notch. See my pictures and give it a visit. The inside was pretty modern and the seats were not all that comfortable, but they were matching the Japanese style Ramen shops.

We love that Hiro Nori just opened in Sorrento Valley. Parking is much easier and we were seated right away on Saturday around 5pm for a table of 6. Very clean minimalist decor. Our server was excellent, very attentive and personable. My husband and I both ordered the tonkatsu add extra chashu 3 pieces which we split. The chashu is sooo tender, broth is super rich and buttery, noodles thick and chewy and the egg is perfectly runny like it should be. You will not be disappointed. They add a 17% service fee which replaces the gratuity but you can ask for it to be removed and set your own percentage.

Been wanting to try this place and glad they opened another location with good parking! We came at opening for a Saturday lunch and were seated right away. Quite a couple of parties came in later. The space is clean and minimalist with a good amount of tables but the chairs were a bit uncomfortable with no back. Service was really kind, friendly, quick and checked on us often. There's an automatic 17% service charge which is written on the menu and the waiter let us know before paying. -Tonkotsu ramen (4.5/5): broth was rich and flavorful, noodles were nicely chewy and thick, chashu slices were thick and tender, I like how it comes with bean sprouts, spinach and an egg! Portion was pretty big -Chicken karaage (4.5/5): juicy, lightly battered and crispy. Dipping sauce was thinner than expected but good flavor.

Came at opening for a Saturday lunch and was seated promptly. Although they just opened a few weeks ago, there was a good amount of customers coming in as we ate. The space is very modern and clean but seating was a bit uncomfortable (chairs are hard with no back). Service is very attentive and friendly! FYI there is an automatic 17% service charge which they informed us is optional to remove Tonkotsu ramen (4.5/5): very flavorful and aromatic. I like how much chashu, spinach and bean sprouts there is and it already includes an egg as well. Chashu is thick and juicy, a little fatty. Portion is big too Chicken karaage (4.5/5): crispy and lightly battered. I thought the consistency of the dipping sauce was a little thin but it still tasted good

The shoyu chicken ramen had a clean yet flavorful broth. They have fast service and was able to accommodate a large group of 10+ people! Tucked away in a plaza near a corporate park with plenty of parking available. The interior was modern and hip. I'd come again!

The newest ramen spot in the area, and it was so good! Their appetizers really stood out to me. We had their: * Cucumber Crab Salad - So refreshing. Mixed in with a seaweed. It's sweet, tangy, and has a good crunch. * Pork Buns - Cooked perfectly! The buns were so soft as well as the pork. Their sauce inside really makes the dish! * Eel Tempura Buns - Their tempura batter is next level. Perfectly light and crispy. I usually always love eel the most, however, the pork ones take the win. * Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice - The rice here is thinner than most places I've had, and that's a good thing! *Very* crunchy, and they put a lot of fish. The fish isn't overly mixed so it's not mushy. The cold noodles were a first for us! The sauce left our tongues tingling! Their tonkatsu and vegan broths were both very thick and creamy and I love love love that they make their own noodles! The inside is very calming and warm, and everyone was so kind and welcoming. I'm glad to have experienced this spot before the crowds come in!

I had decided tentatively to get pizza, but my cousin told me when I picked him up that he was on a healthy food kick. Plus, he wanted to go to a "Michelin star place" and this was the only Michelin star place I could think of... and ramen noodles are pretty healthy so what the heck? I had been to the Mira Mesa location before so I knew what to expect here. My cousin was new so he was trying to figure out what to order. Unlike last time at the Mira Mesa location, I knew not to order the extra noodles and went for the tonkotsu ajitama, which does seem like the safe option. I added corn and seaweed into my bowl, which I think helped add to the nice umami flavor. But even without the extra noodles, I still couldn't finish the whole bowl of ramen. To be fair, I did have breakfast a couple of hours before. Still, it was filling. And I had leftovers for later. My cousin ordered the Tonkotsu bowl only, and he said it was really good. Coming from a pretty picky eater like himself, that's a compliment.

A normal meal. A casual San Diego ramen situation. Incorrect. What actually happened was that my child experienced a culinary event so powerful it rearranged her internal belief system. She took one bite and immediately declared it her "favorite meal ever" and "the best sushi on earth," which is impressive because those are two separate categories of food, but honestly I respect the conviction. At that moment, she became a tiny ramen prophet. A noodle evangelist. A sushi sommelier of chaos. I was no longer her father. I was merely the adult with a wallet and transportation. The ramen was fantastic. The sushi was fresh. The whole place had that magical "we actually care about what we are doing" energy, which is increasingly rare in a world held together by parking apps and spiritual fatigue. Then, as if the first visit had not already altered the timeline, my daughter made me go back the next day. Not requested. Not suggested. Made. There was no negotiation. She had tasted the mountain and demanded we return to the temple. So we did. And it was still excellent. BESHOCK is now officially part of our family lore. Somewhere between "remember that time we saw the ocean" and "remember when your daughter discovered ramen and briefly became a food critic possessed by a joyful sea dragon." Highly recommend. Bring your children only if you are emotionally prepared for them to ask to come back immediately.

They do sake right! Shot glass situated in a wooden box. You then over pour the glass and let it settle in the wood. I haven't had it served this way since I had it at a hole in the wall sale joint in Japan. After finishing the glass, pour the overflow into the glass and it may have picked up a little extra richness and smoothness from the wood. My mentor for Japan had a box stored at "his place" where they poured him for 40 years. Modest roll menu, which is just fine. The salmon roll was soooooo fresh, firm tender flesh, balanced with lemon peels and very thinly sliced mango. I can't describe how perfectly balanced it was. I asked the bartender and a couple regulars who were also sitting at the bar what their favorites were. All said the Vegan ramen. They were right. Full flavor bomb in the broth, perfect noodles (not mushy). They will add in meat if you want more protein, but the flavor was all there. Tried two different types of Sake on the different visits. Seriously, I would go out of my way for this place. If you're looking at this review, stop. Just go. I'm dreaming about going back right now.
