If your into speciality beers, this is a must stop. Nothing fancy, the actual brewery. Some indoor seating, and outdoor area for special events. The day we were here they had a grille going with basic Hamburgers and hotdogs available as well as snacks. Great selection of beer, some conventional, some NOT conventional like the special pickle beer, which on its own is just OK, but they will combine it with other flavors per your request and even give you some suggestions. Kristyn was a great bartender with good suggestions and explanations. Beer was ok, but ambience is weird and farmhouse-y millennial. I liked one beer: their salt and lime concoction. They're on to something there. The cider tasted like sour artificial candy, the other beers reminded me more of miller lite than they should have. I think I'm just picky. For such a large place, I would expect not to be the only customers there either but I suppose not. read more

We were extremely disappointed with our experience here. They charge a mandatory tip even though there's no server service at all. You have to wait in line to order your own food, get your own drinks, and--surprise--they didn't ask us to cook our own meal too. What service did they actually provide that deserves a tip? Absolutely none. We seated ourselves and had to grab our own menus. To make matters worse, they said they had no silverware available and told us we'd have to ask a server for it--again, after doing everything ourselves. The one staff member we interacted with also seemed to have a bad attitude, which only added to the frustration. What a great place! Staying in Williams for the night and drove thru town and made this our first stop. My hubby their Cold IPA and really enjoyed it while I had a vodka soda and it was yummy! We decided to have lunch in Flagstaff after hiking nearby. I chose this place based on Yelp reviews. First, the parking. Do not park in the lot to the side of the restaurant - they charge $7. We later learned you can park for free on the side streets. The decor is cozy - not sure what is historic - never did find out. Our server was very friendly. You order at the counter and then they deliver your food to you. I had the Bahn Mi Tacos with side salad and my partner had the Truffle Mushroom Burger with fries. My tacos were interesting with pickled veggies on top of slow cooked pork. I can't say I loved them but it wasn't because they weren't good - just not my thing. Ah right now historic is sitting at a 50/50 based on the two times I've been there. First time was great. Food was great, beer was great, ambiance was great, staff were great. It was a great time. This second time around.... Just didn't hit the same. Burger bun was like super toasted, the old fashioned tasted like the bourbon was from a plastic bottle. Wife's food had a hair in it. The only reason that this isn't a 5* review is due to the young lady that took our order at the bar, she had very short bangs, she was not friendly at all. We chose to sit inside the bar as it was a bit warm outside. I watched her interaction with all of the other patrons, just no smile, no friendly conversation and two guys came in that were obviously locals and they were trying to take up a conversation with her and she just wasn't having it. Yes, I'm well aware that people have bad days but having been in customer service for 40 years, you have to put aside that bad day when you're representing your company. As for the food, my husband got a burger, I got a pizza, they were both good. Will we be back next time, no we won't. We'll walk across the tracks next time to the Grand Canyon Brewery where our hotel host recommended us to go. read more

I don't usually leave reviews because when I was working in food service in a past life they were so divisive. I feel compelled to promote the Historic Brewery (original local) as an amazing place to just chill out and enjoy great people, pups, and atmosphere. Most of that comes from Alyssa the bartender. She is amazing! Not only welcoming and fun but explains all the beer rotations so well you know what you're getting, sample or no. What prompted this review was after rolling back into Flag after 6 hours of work trip travel I walked in and the place had exactly what I expected; dogs, little kids, adults, college folk, and Alyssa hanging out in a happy cohesive vibe. Alyssa welcomed me with a "hellloooo" and signature wink. It felt so good to be "home". Came here while we were in the area since it was the closest brewery to where we were. Flights were well priced, believe we got 8 tasters for $16. Being from SoCal, the beer was just ok. The standout was the Black IPA. Super surprised I liked this so much. The pie porter tasted like cherry coke to me. Good for some sips but wouldn't be able to drink a whole glass. Of all the breweries I've been to, Historic Brewing had the most fermenters on display. Stacks of fermenters! It showed in the variety of beers they had on tap. A couple standouts were the pineapple Jack Wagon and the Historic Porter. The pineapple Jack Wagon was frothy, thick, and had what looked like pulp. Unlike most pineapple beers, it was dry, not sweet. I would love to know when and how they added the pineapple. read more

They have a food truck open every Thursday through Saturday. We didn't order any, but those tacos looked so damn good! They have a super amazing merch section with a wide range of shirt styles and sizes. Historic is quickly becoming historic in Flagstaff. It always blows my mind that some of my favorite brews of all time come from my back yard. It is not just because I live here but it is actually because I am a huge fan. The beer is so damn good there must be something in the water. You can find me heading to Historic to stock up on some Salt River on any given weekend. It is my go to but, I can honestly say that I have liked almost every single thing that I have tried from this place. The downtown location is my favorite as it has all of the vibes that I love when I head downtown. Such a great atmosphere and the service has always been amazing. I do think they should have a bigger bar here so more people can fit and come. I've been to plenty of breweries and tasted plenty of flights-- sometimes a flight will have a worthwhile beer or two. Every once in a while a beer will still be good after the 10th sip. But I have never deeply enjoyed every single beer in a flight until the last sip. Until now. This place is delicious. The service is great. The inside is spacious and cozy. Was excited to try this location out, but was disappointed in the restaurant setup. I saw "seat yourself and order at the bar" but didn't see get your own plates, forks, waters, etc...so nothing like waiting around for plates/silverware and no one showed up. The pizza was slightly undercooked and half the beers in my flight were feeling like they needed 20% more ingredients (not robust, slightly weak in profile). Dogs allowed of leashes!!! This tap room was awesome, away from downtown about 13 minutes but worth it. Great beers to sample before you buy. Many specials and swag available. I got a yellow coozie with their logo. Beers were $4 on happy hour and I highly recommend the Cherry Pie Hole! We're doing the beer trail and so should you! The holiday pie hole was on sale for $6 a 6-pack so we had to snag it. Pretty good porter. One of their beers won gold in the great American beer festival out of 144 choices. But I'll leave that to you to find out. It's a little out of the way but once again worth it worth it. The bartender Pete will take care of you the bar setting is great. They popped fresh pop corn in the kettle for us and the other couple there while we were there and the smell made us hungry and unfortunately no food served. But still...worth it!! read more

Update: My previous review vaguely referred to some "operational loose ends" Well, it was about 40 degrees when we first visited -- inside and out! They didn't yet have a heater yet! But fear not, that's been remedied! It's nice cozy inside. But, if you're trying to find Historic Brewing, they still don't have a sign. When you're completely convinced that you're totally lost and that this industrial back street can't possibly be the right place, you've arrived! Here's what it is about: Their beers are great. They have 8 or more on tap and I like all of them. Their basics are all very good and they have some with ingredients that didn't sound appealing, but they work! The brewers are adventurous have a very nice touch. Try something outside your comfort zone, you're in good hands. read more

We ordered a flight of beers ($15) from Historic and three grilled cheese and mortadella sandwiches from Proper Meats and Provisions. The sandwiches were $7 each, and delicious. The chips were so hard and sharp that I cut my gum on one and was bleeding. The food waitress only comped us a measly $1 for my injury. The beers included Piehole Porter, Grass Fed Golden Ale, Opposable IPA, Single Speed Coffee Porter, and two Hefeweizens I can't remember the names of. This brewery was recommended by a fellow member of my homebrew club. I hate to say it, but the only beer out of all six that we liked was the Opposable IPA, which we bought a growler of to drink at the KOA in Williams, AZ. Most of the beer was mediocre and I can honestly say I have had better beer in New Mexico microbreweries and at our home brew club meetings. I really didn't like the taste of their staple beer, the Piehole Porter either. None of the beers had any great distinguishing characteristics to redeem them. My husband and I visited Flagstaff on our year long trip around the US, and had to try out as many local breweries as possible! Historic was a recommendation from one of the bartenders at another brewery, and we were not disappointed. Other than being a bit chilly on the day we came in, we really loved this place! Unfortunately we only visited for 4 days, but this is definitely a spot to come back to multiple times, because there were just SO many options! We did a flight of beers ($2 4oz samples) so we could try a few. We definitely liked Deer Lord, which we had at RIOT in Cottonwood and Opposable IPA, which are both the mainstays. There were TONS of others to try, and I did not take notes while we were there. Looks like they are always introducing something new, so no 2 visits would be the same! Oh....and their mug club looked like a great deal if you live in the area! Stopped by while headed to lake Ashurst to go camping with my boyfriend. I enjoyed the beer but was disappointed that flights were not available since I like to taste the variety of beer available. We were able to bring my pup, which I enjoyed. No food unfortunately and the bartender wasn't the best but I would come back to give it another shot! read more

Very friendly and informative, we actually met her one night in Williams AZ, we are ecstatic that she is now here! Only suggestion is to have some iced tea for the"designated driver".
