Listing your business hours would really help. We arrived at 8:40 p.m. on a Saturday and were turned away. The employee told us they close at 8:45, but there were no posted hours to confirm that. Several disappointed kids were turned away as well. The village was busy, so it was frustrating to be refused service before the alleged closing time. read more

What's not to love about an old fashion Carousel? This particular ride has been operating at Seaport Village since 2004, which is a tourist destination. This masterpiece was hand carved by Charles Loof in 1895. It's first home was in Dallas Texas in 1904. Completely restored, it has been a wonderful addition to the Seaport Village (surrounded by restaurants, specially shops), it provides entrainment for all ages. I was too shy to ride it, but a big part of me inside really wanted to. $5 flat rate for an admission ticket is reasonable to keep this beautiful Carousel operating. Such a beautiful piece of history. I just love Carousels - brings back the kid inside. My kids are adults now, but I still ride the carousel every time I visit the area. The Carousel dates back to 1895. Originally placed in Fairpark, TX it has had several homes ( Washington & Oregon) until it made its way to San Diego in seaport village in 2004. The carousel is hand carved by Charles Looff (Danish) who had been training as a woodcarver prior to coming to America in 1870 at the age of 18 settling in Brooklyn N.Y. His very first carousel was placed in Coney Island. The horses are very detailed and you don't see this very often but these horses have horse hair tails that add a realistic appearance. The ride is $7 and lasts a fair amount of time and goes pretty fast. Typical carousel music plays while riding. Some of the animals/ horses don't go up & down during the ride, so if you want a horse that moves pick a white one. It's a fun experience for young & old! read more

In 2004 a new carousel arrived at Sea Port Village and it doesn't disappoint. This VERY historic carousel has all different creatures and animals to choose from, not just horses. I love all things history so this was definitely a place I wanted to take my daughter when visiting San Diego. Parking is paid and there are a ton of slots for a price. The carousel itself charges $5 per person, which we didn't mind to keep a historic site running. The carousel itself is open air so it can get hot if there's no breeze. The ride is short with cute music but our 2 year old enjoyed it. The carousel is beautiful, to think someone created this by hand is unbelievable. We would definitely visit again. read more

I give a 1 based off customer interaction alone, the young man working Sunday 8/24 around 1:15 was rude as hell. We walked up and they let us in never told me I could stay on with my child. The other kids told me I had to wait outside, also did not tell me I can stay on. My child started to get freaked out with the speed. He turns to me and said "well you should have stayed on with him." I said I don't know I was allowed. He then tells me "no stops too bad" I'm already upset that my child is freaking out and then you had to be rude about it. read more

This is such a special experience every time we visit Seaport Village. It's something I did as a kid, somewhere I always took visitors and now my kids enjoy it. This is a pretty nice carousel overall, and it's nice to have it in Seaport Village since most everything there is either a tourist type shop, restaurant, or some food stall. The girl taking the tickets seemed bored and wasn't exceptionally friendly, but I guess that's expected. I'm giving this attraction a mediocre review since I think for the price of $5, I thought the ride was a little short. We've been on other carousels, such as at South Coast Plaza which was less than half the price and lasted just as long. Also, just a note that it does move pretty fast, so if you have very young kids, they might be a little scared. We were a little surprised how fast it went considering most carousels we've been on are much slower. read more

Being a parent of a 3 and a 4-year-old, OF COURSE we have to ride the carousel! Eeeeeeek! So, our last outing to the Seaport Village Historic Carousel... There was no music! So weird. At least we could hear if someone got flung off... My sister-in-law said it was fast. My husband said it wasn't THAT fast. I was just disappointed because our kiddos chose about the only dang horses that didn't go up and down at the same time. (Apparently, the white horses are the only ones that do that. Not even the cool dragon.) $3 per kiddo. Parents aren't charged if they stand beside their overly excited minions. I haven't been on this carousel since I was a kid, I don't usually go to seaport village for anything except walking along the harbor, but we came for a laugh. They have a lot of the horses blocked off for social distancing which is nice. The operators spend the ride making balloon creatures for the little ones which is sweet, all of them were really friendly. It's $4 for adults and kid's younger than 6 can have an adult accompany them for free. It is still cash only and they don't accept bills larger than $20, it's probably better to use a smaller bill if you want change that isn't all in ones. read more

The carousel itself is fine. My toddler was the one that wasn't in to it. Tried to put em on their own horse. Was not having it. I tried to ride the horse with /stand beside and nope not into that. Luckily since neither of us rode they gave us our money back. I was sad we did not get to ride this one after having tried the one in Balboa park. Will have to try and drag the husband down to Seaport village to see if the kidlet cooperates when all parties are present. read more

They're not even open... no one was there Friday nite 7pm and it's almost 11am on Saturday and no one there!

One of the best things around! Kids of all ages LOVE carousels. This one is in seaport village so you can hit up the stores after. It is of course a tourist trap but damn it I love it! Since our trusty carousel has been here for so long it occasionally has a horse or two out of order for TLC. During slow season I know the conductors usually take breaks and leave a sign that they will be back. Oh and if your kid is small you totes get to ride for free with them! So don't miss out take the little buggers while they are small. read more

Such a tourist trap but whatever! For $2 a ride, that isn't bad. I went on with my 6-month old and only had to pay $2 since I was standing there, holding her the entire time. My husband paid $2 as well for our toddler to ride and he held onto her. The ride goes rather fast and the horses go up rather high too, but my kids didn't seem to mind it, they loved it. My toddler was hesitant at first but as soon as she saw her little sister on a horse, she was ready to go on as well. For $2, you get quite the ride too, it was a good 5-6 minute ride, not a bad deal if you ask me. It's a must stop if you have kids, even the scared ones who just want to sit on the chariot. read more

My wife and I regularly take walks with our daughter and the dog, typically, we'll walk along the bay, and down to the Midway pier and back. This morning, we decided to check to see if the Carousel @ Seaport Village was operating. Luckily for me, it was. My wife has taken our daughter before, while I was at work. Today was my first chance to accompany her on the carousel, and it's a memory that I will never forget. Riders pay $2, but parents that are accompanying riders (as was my case) are free. I thought that was pretty cool.The ride is only lasts a few minutes, but I could tell by the look in my daughter's eyes that I was not the only one who would remember it forever. She giggled almost non-stop, and squealed with delight whenever we passed her mom and the dog. By the time the ride was over, there was no hope of getting her back into the stroller, so she rode home on my shoulders (all the way back to Little Italy). I've never been a huge fan of Seaport Village, but I am sure that the carousel will be a regular destination on future walks with my family. read more

I agree with Deb. It's cute and a great addition. The ride is OK but it gets 4 stars from me because of the euch history of the carousel - it was made in 1895 and over 1 million people have been on it. Pretty cool in my book. I opted for the horse only because they move up and down. read more

My friends and I went here on a whim after walking around Seaport Village at night. Since there wasn't much to do we decided to hop on the carousel. But what disappointed me about this place was the lack of music! How can you have a carousel without music? Other than that, the ride seemed pretty short and didn't speed up much. Carousels seemed to go so much faster when I was a kid. Or maybe my perception of fast has just changed. Anyways, for $2 don't expect much. I only dock a star because it doesn't have the ring catch like the one at Balboa Park. Otherwise, this is a great fixture at Seaport Village. We love coming down for gyros and a carousel ride for the kids. So nice that they don't charge parents who have to stand next to their kids. It's only $2 a ride which is pretty reasonable! I've never waited longer than 5 minutes to get on, except after the Big Bay Balloon Parade. read more

I am torn about leaving this review, but feel I need to. I love this carousel. It is beautiful and no trip to Seaport Village is complete without a ride. However it is not being cared for appropriately. Several of the horses had broken legs, tails in very bad shape or no tail at all, and many were out of order and only the white horses go up and down. It makes me sad to see it this way. If I ever owned a carousel i would never let it look like I didn't care about it. read more

Besides the Balboa Park carousel, this is by far the FASTEST I have ever been on!! If you have littler children, it's a good idea to not ride on a horse and just stand next to them...otherwise the will most likely fly off. The horses are beautiful and it's in a nice location. read more

This is a highlight for our toddler when we are at Seaport Village. The ride only accepts cash, so make sure you have some handy or withdraw at the ATM near by. The ride itself is fairly long . The wooden hand carved animals are beautiful. Parents of toddlers can ride for free which is unexpected for carousals in tourist heavy spots like this but definitely welcomed. read more
