4/26/25-As a historian I love old buildings and this is a unique part of Colorado history. At the same time trying to make old buildings meet modern needs has to been done if you want them to be usable to the public. First thing is that the building is not ADA friendly. The only bathrooms the had open during Bigfoot Days were down some stairs. No elevator access or ground floor bathrooms. So if you have mobility devices or walking issues this is not a place for you. Also even the 'updated' seats are not American size. I say this because a lot of Americans are overweight and if you have any weight on you, you are squished in the chairs. A lot would need to be done to make the building friendly for all which I understand would be a huge expense. I hope the city helps put some money into this place so that it would be good for city sponsored events. read more

This movie theatre is very historic, not like your new comfortable theatre's but they do offer you a butt pad! It gets kinda cold in there in the winter so bring a sweatshirt! It's amazing to talk to the owners bout this theatre and how old it really is! read more

Aptly named, the Historic Park Theater was built in 1913 and is the oldest operating cinema in the western US (thank you, Wikipedia). We didn't know any of this when we made a spontaneous decision to watch "The Shining" here in October. Until that point in time, I had avoided watching Stanley Kubrick's famous movie because I am not a fan of horror films. However, when in Rome, or in this case, Estes Park, do as the residents do. Estes Park is home to the Stanley Hotel, where Stephen King, author of "The Shining" found his inspiration to write the book after visiting the hotel. My husband and I made the decision to visit the Stanley Hotel while we were in town, so it only made sense for me to finally watch the movie inspired by King's book. Soooooo, that's how we ended up at the Park Theater. They happened to be showing "The Shining" as it was Halloween time and we just happened to be walking by the theatre about ten minutes before the 7pm show; let's go! This is a one-screen cinema with a lovely marquee sign to beckon you. You enter and there is one line for tickets and concessions. Don't expect the recliner seats that you're used to now; this is 1913 seating--no rocking chairs here. The sound and screen were just fine, though. I'm happy that we went to see that particular movie at that particular theater with all of its history and the ties of the film to the town. read more

One of the most enjoyable movie experiences I've had in years! I love these old theaters! The vibe inside was just perfect. Went to see the latest Indiana Jones movie, which was phenomenal on its own, but all the better for being viewed in this historic place. If I lived in Estes Park, I could see coming here all the time. Wonderful establishment! read more

Cool place and good popcorn but it was quiet possibly the weirdest and most strangely unprofessional production i have ever seen. It was so bad it was comedic, and honestly i should have realized that this was not tailored to the general population when i saw the other people sitting in the theater. I love history and learning about it, but the actual productions they put on stage are strange and bizzare. I really wish they would add some professionalism because it would be very cool otherwise. read more

You can't miss this classic towering building if you drive into town via Hwy. 36. You are right beside it. A family-run business, it anchors the Riverwalk. As I ate @ a Park Theater Cafe' patio table next door, I noted that people glanced & then passed it by ~ obviously Shoppers lol. But I was drawn to it like a magnet, as I am attracted to the rare gems of yesteryear that won't last forever. I walked into the Lobby & proceeded to marvel @ this "museum" & take photos. A quiet young man came out & I peppered him with ?s & compliments. I assumed he was the Owners' Grandson? Note the antique player piano & Bar offering Beer, Wine, & Liquor, in my photos. The interior of the theater seems small, but seats 225. If you have a nostalgic bone, check it out! read more

This place is awesome, do not expect big comfy recliner seats with cup holders, do not expect modern concessions with every candy and carb known. Just go and experience a movie in one of the oldest continually run theaters in the country, oh and have a Coors. read more

We came here for a 7:30 showing of a movie and it was a great nostalgic experience. First off, you can tell this is locally run as we interacted with an older gentleman and his granddaughter. While he was a little long winded he had great intentions and was very friendly. Before the movie you get a little look at the theaters history and the history of RMNP, as well as some local advertisements. During this the older gentleman gave his own little commentary and you can tell he was just trying to be a good host. He also passed out little seat cushions to make the old chairs more comfortable (it worked for the most part). I was actually quite impressed with the picture quality as well as the sound in the theater. The heater did run for parts of the movie which was a little distracting but you could still hear fine. If you're wanting a premium movie experience with lazy boy recliners and a giant 4K projector, don't come here. But if you want to experience a 100 year old movie theater and still see it in a quality way, this is a really cool place. read more

Great little venue for seeing films! Built around 1907 ish, this is an OLD OLD theater that has been nicely maintained.... And there is a cool old player piano. The seats are surprisingly comfortable, and the theater is pretty small. You can buy all the usual items, plus it appears there is liquor, wine and beer service. A great place that could be even better with some great customer service. The couple that runs it is just a little grumpy, as some other reviewers have noticed; however they mean well! read more

While in town for vacation we saw Pitch Perfect 2 at The Park Theater. The seats were surprisingly comfortable for an older theater. The friendly lady who was running the snack bar and ticket booth talked a bit about the theater to us. The quality of the screen and sound were great. She said they were recently upgraded for modern movies. I would recommend that any movie fan in town stop here and catch a flick. You won't regret it. read more

I will not support this theater based on the rude older woman working the ticket counter who snapped at me for asking questions about a showtime. She should not be in customer service with such a poor attitude. Not to mention, the seats are incredibly uncomfortable AND they only offer discounts to 'high school students.' Why not college students? Shouldn't college students qualify for a discount, rather than 'high school students' who are living and supported by their parents. Slightly biased and does not make practical sense. Go somewhere else. I do not promote businesses run by rude and unprofessional staff. read more

The ambience is great, but the seating is very uncomfortable. The staff is very friendly along with being helpful. The pricing is very affordable and screen was good for showing, but once again get ready for the uncomfortable seats and if you have a back problem then I would avoid this place. read more

Perfect! Great ambience, great sound system. Would highly recommend. You can buy a beer or some wine while watching the movie too! New releases and retro movies. A lot of fun. read more

We ate at the cafe. I had the corn chowder and 1/2 a BLT. The corn chowder tasted like it was out of a can and was lukewarm. My husband had the chili and it tasted like wolf brand chili and beans. He asked for crackers and got a Tupperware of Ritz. The BLT was ok. The waitress asked for a tip when we ordered - before we even got our food. Will not go back. read more

Loved it here, so nostalgic. They have upgraded projection and sound to modern tech, we saw a 3D movie, it was great. This is a family run business by people who love movies, they deserve support from the community and tourists. Seats could use an upgrade. read more

Odd experience. Walked up at 7:00 to purchase tickets for what we mistakenly thought was movie beginning at 7:30, but learned the start time was instead 7:00. The 7:00 movie had not yet started, so the nice lady in the ticket booth stated we could still purchase tickets for 7:00 showing if we were still interested. I was concerned about finding seats together for the four of us at that point, so she said my girlfriend & my daughter could go take a look inside the theater real quick. They take a look and come back to report that there are not four seats together. We decide that we will come back for later showing or maybe another day, but before we leave I tell my son he can also go take a quick look inside before we leave just like my daughter was given permission a couple minutes earlier. Next thing I know, this older, and seemingly controlling, lady was at the ticket booth all of a sudden and was barking at him saying he can't even go in the general lobby area like it was a matter of national security (no sign of the younger lady at this point). Ok. I ask if we can buy tickets in advance for tomorrow's show. I was met with a simple and abrupt NO like it was an inconvenience I had even asked such an unreasonable question. Ok. She stated that there are still seats available and we should all still be able to sit "close" to each other (sorry, not interested in just sitting "close" to my girlfriend and young children). She then proceeded to assertively convince me that the movie is great in this theater in 3D (in a way like it was some sort of cutting edge new thing), it is in Dolby Surround Sound (like that was supposed to impress me, only been out for decades), and it will be nothing like I have seen before (I guess she was referring to the tiny screens my girlfriend had described when she was allowed to check on seats before movie started and before this older lady had replaced the first lady helping us a couple minutes earlier). It wasn't so much the details of the presentation involved with the screen, sound, etc that was an issue with me. It's an old old theater. That is the experience. I get it. The issue was the presentation of the customer service experience. This review with words "on paper" will likely not capture her aggressiveness, assertiveness, and abrupt nature of her personality. You will know if and when you interact with her. Not difficult to identify. Look for the square peg trying to fit in round hole. There she is. That is her. I do not suggest she is a bad person. There are just people who simply should not be in customer facing positions. read more

This theatre has the absolute best experience I've ever had. I went to see Dora and the Lost Cory Of Gold. Man that movie isn't for everyone but I had a great time. For an older theatre this place has truly everything there is to offer. My friend works here and she undersold it to me. This place truly is spectacular from the old time chandeliers towering over you to the fantastic cinematic experience. I was truly transported. I must come again. Hopefully to see something closer to the demographic I felt as I walked in. read more

The woman, who I assume was the owner, was horrible to me and my children. Anyone who would speak to young children that way should NOT be in a position that works with the public. We will not be returning. I recommend spending your money at the Reel Theater, where they actually like their customers! read more

Great place to see a film. Very reasonably priced and beautiful old threatre. Old times feel but well maintained. The owners are extremely courteous and love to share their passion for film and the theatre. Before he film started a little mini film going over the history of the theatre was presented and was quite lovely. A true gem in Estes park. read more
