We were craving some ramen and decided to give this spot a try, so we ordered takeout. It was ready when we expected it and was still warm when we got it home. For the food. We were not impressed with the teas. At all. Which was quite disappointing because it felt like that was the big item they use to draw people in. My husband and I both got drinks and the sweetness level was all over the place. He got his a level three and mine a level one and mine was WAY sweeter. It also felt like they were using syrups instead of tea, maybe they use a green tea base then just flavor it with syrup? I'm not sure but when I'm getting boba I was good tea to go with it. The popping boba also tasted more like a soapy flavor than fruity. Overall, we were extremely disappointed, especially with how expensive they are. BUT we will be back, for the ramen. The prices felt pretty fair and they give you a pretty large serving, especially the chicken. The amount of katsu chicken was amazing, we were pleasantly surprised. And it tasted so good! But the winner was the broth. I saw other reviews saying it didn't taste like anything and I'm not sure what that's about because this was creamy and SO garlicky! Stopped in here with some friends after taking a tour of the New Basilica. I was still full from my breakfast, so only had the Pure Uji Matcha Latte which was delicious. One of my friends ordered the Spicy Beef Teriyaki Udon and let me have a bite. VERY tasty and VERY good!!! The service was good, though the building and restaurant was a bit lacking. Didn't seem really clean and was pretty worn around the edges. Not horrible, but not nice either. I feel it's a shame because that Udon dish was GREAT. read more

A mixed experience with Hitea in CWE! There are multiple locations and multiple ways to order which was a little confusing because the menu on their website was different from the menu on the main website, also different from the DoorDash/Grubhub etc. menus. The person who put in the order arrived ~10 minutes after opening time and no one was at the restaurant so she waited around a bit and watched as they opened up the place and began the order, so the order wasn't done at quite the time she had hoped. They were quick once they got going, though. The order was packed up nicely and easy to take on the go. Everyone was happy with their food and I LOVED my boba tea, it was so delicious and caffeinated exactly how I wanted. I liked that you could customize most things about the drinks - lots of choices. As a vegetarian, I was left without many food options at Hitea - there is no veg friendly broth and the veg items on the menu are basic or unclear if they are actually vegetarian. read more

I have been here 2x, once for dine in and once for carry out and have had great experiences both times. The menu in the cwe is different from the chesterfield menu, and everything I have tried so far has been good. The 1st time, I tried the shrimp udon. It was delicious and the shrimp were huge. The 2nd time I do the spicy chicken wings, and even though the wings were small, they were very flavorful. Fries were just okay, but everything else was delicious! Service has been quick both times and they did a great job of packaging everything up when I did take out. Staff seem friendly . It's a decent space, and they have a large tv on. Cute decor overall. It was super easy to place an order online for pickup, and I was greeted when I walked in. The place was very cozy feeling inside and the food was still steaming hot by the time I got home! They serve a variety of food including ramen, udon, rice bowls, bento dinners, and appetizers. In addition, they also offer a selection of milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothies. I opted to try this restaurant today as I was craving bubble tea. I ordered my staple choice which is the taro milk tea at 20% sweetness with bubbles. I liked that the drink was cold but did not contain ice cubes in the drink (because it means less tea!!). The overall flavor of the tea was nice. The tea was not too sweet and had a subtle taro flavor. The bubbles were a little more on the chewy side for me but still decent. St. Louis has many bubble tea spots and I would consider this spot mid tier. The service was quick as I received my tea in less than 5-10 mins after I ordered it. The restaurant felt nice and cozy and was kept pretty clean. The owners of the store were super nice and polite. Overall, I enjoyed my experience!!!! read more

We arrived at this restaurant in the early evening and the restaurant was completely empty. Despite that, our order of ramen and a chicken wing combo arrived somewhat cold. Chicken wings and eggroll/gyoza looked kind of small and not that impressive, and the takoyaki was mostly breading without much octopus. Of the Asian restaurants in the area, this was our least favorite. It was okay, and it was the only one with ramen, but otherwise it was not memorable. Craving ramen and have been picking up from Nami Ramen but decided to try the new location of Hitea on Euclid. Ordering online was super easy and there are a LOT of options, which was great. I got the chicken ramen in which the chicken katsu was super juicy but the ramen and broth lacked any true flavor. I got a hearty portion of noodles, broth, and chicken but rhe lack of flavor was disheartening ing. I loved the takoyaki but not the fried oysters as much- could be an acquired taste. Arrived was great qnd the place was super clean when I came to pick up. Lots of space to have a lunch date and you are greeted as soon as you walk in! Conveniently located near the hospitals and hotels around Forest park. I was able to walk from my hotel. Was not headed here but stopped in and glad I did. Feeling a little under the weather I was craving ramen (which I found)! The tonkatsu does not have green onions, thought I would start with my downside. Otherwise I found it very good. Pork was the right amount of fatty. Egg was cooked well. Noodles were not overcooked. I would recommend. The smoothie was phenomenal. The cup is super cool which is an added bonus. If I was local I would for sure come back. Came on a weekday after the lunch rush and it was a nice and quiet spot to sit, enjoy my food, and read my book. Music was not too loud. I've been visiting the hospital frequently and every time I consider going to HiTea. The food is soo good and I love their fresh tea options. Parking is a little difficult. Usually there is a man and woman working behind the curtain and both are fairly shy to me, but friendly. Maybe a language barrier. So I don't typically write reviews nor did I have particularly high hopes of a great meal here so I feel compelled to write! I stopped in for a refreshing Hong Kong style tea on a hot summer day--they delivered. They have a wide range of teas--it is primarily a tea shop after all. They do that well. While there I perused the menu and decided to eat there. They had fried oysters that appeared fo be panko breaded instead of the typical cornmeal batter you find in the US--this excited me as I rarely see that. So I ordered that and the tonkatsu ramen. The ramen is what made me decide to write. I've eaten a ton of ramen, both here and in Japan. This little tea shop did an excellent job with a typical ramen you would find anywhere in the streets of Tokyo. The noodles were cooked appropriately--springy w a slight bite...my pet peeve in US ramen joints! The broth was surprisingly not they typical salt bomb--you could appreciate the porkiness if that even makes sense! It also had the notes of black garlic and sesame which was very nice. They were extremely generous with the pork belly--also unusual. It wasn't the fatty type, but it was a little heavy on the five spice seasoning which some folks love. The Ajitama egg was also very well executed with the appropriate jamminess to the yolk and was soy-marinated as it should be. Wish I had both halves! The rest of the toppings were both traditional and solid with the menma and kikurage. My only complaint about the toppings had to do with presentation. They assembled a perfect and correct bowl except that all the toppings were literally under the broth so u couldn't appreciate the care and gorgeous look of the bowl. The nori sheet was also submerged which was sad. They also could have used a garnish of minced green onion for both authenticity and the color pop. I wish they had the shichimi togarashi available to sprinkle on the bowl as well--I know they have it in the kitchen as it was on my tray of fried oysters so I scavenged some to elevate an already surprising bowl of ramen. About them oysters....well they are breaded in panko and what appears to be some cornmeal batter of sorts as well. Not quite as light as it should be, but way better than the typical American cornmeal oyster. I just wish they didn't pair them with the sweet chili sauce I expect with spring rolls! Traditionally these would be served with a lemon wedge, some shredded cabbage, and tonkatsu sauce and a spicy mayo as dipping choices. They serve katsu here, but when I asked for some other sauce that wasn't sweet all they could come up with was tempura sauce--what can I say it was better than sweet sauce on an oyster but still a little weird! All in all I was seriously happily surprised and would eat here again if I lived anywhere near this little tea shop! Don't underestimate them--they have it mostly right if you want to experience typical (not gourmet Nobu type) street ramen like we eat in Tokyo! read more

my favorite place to eat!!! The starters can be a little small but SO GOOD! But they do give you a lot of ramen!!! 10/10!
