So I came back! This time, I decided to try some of their sides... because it is morning... and I didn't feel like having a simple breakfast sandwhich from my job. So... aside from getting an iced latte with a pump of mocha syrup, I decided to try their potato hash and a side of bacon. Both were delicious. The bacon wasn't cooked hard so I don't know if that is a deal breaker for you guys but I like mine with a decent chew and not all crunch. The potatoes were cooked with bell pepper and it was so good to me. The bell peppers weren't undercooked and everything had a good balance. My only take away was that I started to feel like it became greasy once I made it to the last few scoops, but thankfully, it wasn't like it was swimming in oil/grease. I also took note that despite it being a decent line, they were functioning fluidly so I really didn't feel like my wait was long at all. Gotta love sufficient service. I believe I spoke on the decor before, but if I haven't, the place is very quaint with outdoor seating. It gives off a local bakery with a hint of modern. Another thing I like is that you can see them prepping some of the baked goods as you wait. read more

I have to agree with the other reviewers. I am from NY, so had set my expectations accordingly, these bagels were outstanding and exceeded them! The bagels have a perfect toast to the outside and the flavor you'd expect from quality, homemade bagels. They also offer many sandwiches served on those bagels. This was the closest sandwich I've had to an NY bacon, egg and cheese outside of NY. In addition to the bagels, their coffee drinks are phenomenal. There are also a huge variety of pastries, but we didn't try those to comment on quality. I believe they just opened a second location as I'm writing this review, I see nothing but big things for this place. They can be very busy and it can get a little tight, but that is a minor gripe. read more

Stopped by this wonderful gem in the downtown area to try a pecan chai. I also picked up a special pastry- An Almond Croissant. It was to die for!! My coffee was quite tasty as well. I love the chai flavors. I ordered it half sweet. Perfect foam on top. Service was great. The guy was so nice and friendly. The deli is always clean and I enjoy seeing the bakers make the pastries. Day two of my Memphis trip stopped in for a quick breakfast. Hive was in walking distance from my hotel. It's a nice small shop with a few seats outside. I looked at the menu before I came but I got a little indecisive once how I was how delicious it looked in the case. I still went with the bagel and lox but the croissant was calling me and they wouldn't let me sub the bagel. I asked for capers and the cashier went to the back to ask. We I got my order no capers, the energy was a little off from the staff so I decided not to send it back. I was still good and a big portion of salmon for the price. We got the Cortito and iced latte. Both were good. Got the BLT on an everything bagel, this one was a home run. Got the veggie smash on an onion bagel, didn't get the chimichurri flavor in the marinated beets. Also thought that the beets could be sliced thinner. Got the dark chocolate and raspberry cube. Liked the texture, however was lacking in depth in the actual dark chocolate and cherry flavors. Though the creaminess was done very nicely. I would recommend a big girl flavor for each sandwich as I think this might've helped elevate the veggie smash. I think it was a triple but with a few tweaks could easily be a home run as well. May even recommend trying it on the rosemary bagel, that was one of my thoughts, however, I thought the veggies would compete with the rosemary flavor, even adding a dash of salt... Food, is always 5 out of 5. Amazing quality and freshness, and that's where it ends. I stop by every month or so, and nobody at the front counter/register, seems to A. Listen, and B. Genuinely care about you. That said, they sure do love flipping the iPad around assuming they deserve a for a tip, for their shitty service. Seriously, at least try to pretend you want to be there. Alas, I've found a gem. Hive Bagel & Deli is the one and only bakery that Memphis downtown residents, visitors and tourists in downtown alike ought to pay a visit. They are the only bakery in Memphis that offers decent collection artisan croissants, bagels, breakfast sandwiches. I've been searching for a proper coffee shop or bakery for croissant to no avail. It appears that croissants are not in vogue here as much as cakes and doughnuts. Their bagel culture runs strong though as there is even an honey butter everything croissant here. I walked over from my hotel for breakfast. The staff were friendly and the store was really quaint. I ordered a breakfast bagel and a drip coffee. The cashier told me what add ons were available because there isn't a list of add ons anywhere, so just ask. I added onions, tomato and avocado and it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have had in a long time!! Highly recommend! Since we got here at closing, they suggested we eat at the covered patio of their neighbor as they have a "relationship." Open 5 days a week from 8am to 2pm, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. I always walked past this place when I go for my walks on the river. Recently started seeing TikTok reviews of this place and decided to give it a try. I came on a Sunday morning so i was expecting it to be busy. As we were walking up to the line, it seems like a couple and the possibly the owner/baker were talking but they were clearly in the way of the register. I had to say excuse me to even get through and they continue to stand in the way of other people ordering & grabbing their orders. I order a lox bagel with no onions and my bf got the chop chop chicken. We waited a reasonable amount of time and got our bagels. Once i got home, i looked at my bagel and it had onions on it when the ticket clearly says no onions. While the bagel was good, the cream cheese was not even all over at all. So, I wanted a coffee, and this shop was conveniently located on front street where I was staying. I decided to go in and see what they offered... They are really a pastry shop, not so much coffee, so I had no choice, but to get some sort of baked good lol. I ended up getting a Kouign-amann which was absolutely delicious- flaky, buttery and sweet. An obviously expertly crafted pastry.... 10/10. Now, since I came in for a coffee, I decided to order a cortado which, honestly, had an unpleasant burnt taste.... so I called in and asked if I could try another coffee option, as this was my first reason for stopping in, and didn't want to be disappointed with that part of my experience... they suggested the macaroon latte, and made the exchange with no issue! There's a lot of potential here. I've tried it a few times, but most of the time I'm pretty disappointed. You can't find a good bagel anywhere in Memphis. I was so excited when I saw that they offered a version of a salt bagel here. And it was extremely disappointing when I got my bagel and could tell immediately that there was NO sea salt on it at all. Also, the bagel wasn't toasted. Firstly, the parking was easy and accessible. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a jalapeño bagel and it was very good. I was disappointed there were no pumpernickel or rye which are my favorite. The brownie was excellent. So rich, fresh and delicious . We ordered a sandwich to go and told them it was for a roadtrip. So to my surprise hours later I open the box and they were not wrapped in wax or brown paper. The sandwich was excellent and very tasty. All the food was excellent!
