I wanted soft curls, so had it permed. I specifically told her not to cut my bangs, which were below my nose before the cut. I wanted them to grow out. She cut them. She gave me a straight bob, no angle and it's short! No amount of using a curling tool to soften works because it's too short and not styled correctly not layered correctly. I primarily planned my North Kansas City wedding from California. I was surprised to find that a hairstylist who would travel was one of the hardest elements to nail down. I really wanted someone to come to us so all the women in the wedding party could be together while getting their hair done, and because it was the most relaxing option for me. It was my day after all. As I searched around, this seemed less and less viable - everyone I found who was willing to travel was either ridiculously expensive, flaky, inexperienced, very dated, or some horrible combination. At the last minute, when I had given up my dream, had found that none of the local salons had the space for my large party on a Saturday with three weeks notice, and was almost in tears trying to find separate salons to take my out of town bridesmaids and other wedding party ladies my uber styled brother stepped up and saved the day with his stellar recommendation of Emily Holmes. Emily is an amazing hairstylist and I can't say enough good things about her! She is so calm, and easygoing. She is crazy fast with an updo and blowout, and her speed doesn't sacrifice anything! My wedding day is a blur, but I think her and her partner (Jen I think?) did 8 or 10 heads in about 2 hours! I couldn't believe it! That includes redoing my hair once because I wanted to be sure it was perfect. (I admit I was a crazy bride.) She was so fast, she even had time to trim my brother's hair the day of!! Best of all, Emily only charged about $40 a head. Most of the other places I looked at were charging $60 or more for each updo, wanted us to come to them, and said each one would take at least an hour. Emily is a gem!! Not only did the styles look great, they held! It was an outside wedding, and it of course rained. We took our pictures in drizzle, danced like fools, and everyone's hair still looked great at the end of the night! She is very reliable and professional. She responded to all my numerous text messages within a day (she works in a salon as well). She scheduled a second stylist to come with her to calm my fears of not getting everyone done in time. She arrived on time, brought everything she could possibly need, and had everyone done by the agreed upon time. I didn't take her up on it, but I know she is also connected with fabulous makeup artists who can travel with her.
