The experience was awful, started off good ended bad. Waitress ignored us after the initial order. Our food was boxed to take home and she came up to us asking how everything was going. REALLY!!, pay more attention to customers. The owner really has to think about who he hires. Food was too salty, salt doesn't give flavor. Horrible!!!! Never again. This place has a nice interior and a decent vibe. I went for lunch so I wasn't expecting anything extra special (and there wasn't) but there is something to be said about a clean, nice looking, handsome restaurant. If felt like a great place to not only get a bite to eat but to meet up with friends for a few drinks and good conversation. I had the house burger (HK Burger) and fries and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were pretty tasty, above average, I'd say. The burger wasn't as good. It looked pretty but it was a little dry -- the bread, the patty, and the extra brittle bacon served with it. Even a healthy douse of ketchup didn't right the wrong. The fries that came with the burger were crispy and had good flavor but were a little cold and the portion was stingy. That made me sad. Fortunately, the price was reasonable but I'm not sure I would have been any less satisfied with a cheaper McDonald's meal from across the street. Oh, parking is kinda problematic. It's only street parking with a two-hour time limit and very aggressive parking enforcement. I almost got a ticket... I absolutely, guarantee and critically, do not recommend this place at all. It was 8pm, a Friday evening. Me and my wife wanted to try something new around our area. We were greeted and set down outside. "Our waitress was very nice to us." We ordered our drinks and appetizers. We got our drinks. The waitress came back after 15-20 minutes and asked if we wanted to order anything to eat. We ordered our entrees but also asked her if our appetizer was coming out first. She apologized because she forgot to place the order in. She mentioned she will put that in right away. It's 8pm on a Friday, and it wasn't that busy. Just a bunch of guys by the bar area watching the Yankees vs Orioles. 30 minutes later we got our entrees. Burger fries and tacos......no appetizers. Our waitress came back to ask if we wanted more drinks as so we ordered more drinks and asked if our appetizers was coming, she said "I'm so sorry let me go check on that". We saw a random guy come inside and was selling roses.....very confusing.....Anyways, after another 30 minutes later, our waitress brought our check, "here you go folks, I'll be back soon". Guess no appetizers.....Our waitress was very nice though. The Tacos, were not so good. First time visiting this new eatery in my hood. We ordered take out so I didn't get the full effect. But the people were nice. We were greeted right away and our orders were taken quickly. Kept it simple, bacon cheeseburger and fries. We were offered water while we waited. The place looks good tho. Really open with the bar being the center of it all! Looks like there are great drink choices for you who partake in the guzzling. There are flat screens playing sports all over for us sports fans! The vibe is real cool. There were some surprising choices on the menu as well. More than just burgers. I'd like to come back and sit down for a good meal. I liked my food too which is a plus. Nice contemporary look and window views to the outside, gives a NYC vibe. Parking maybe hard/easy to find due to meters and busy avenue. When you walk in, you get the impressions that you may have to wait to get seated b/c there is podium but no one is there, so just seat yourself anywhere. Presentation of food is nice and drinks are decent. For the most part, servers are friendly. The 2nd time I went we ordered Mac n cheese balls-they taste like hush puppies, which we liked. The food is good, the drinks are mediocre, and the service is subpar. If HK Kitchen & Draft house truly wants to be a draft house they need to expand beyond the 8 or less so beers they have on tap. The restaurant as a whole needs to look at the structure of customer service. It looks like no one has communication amongst each other, food is delayed, sometimes waiters and waitresses forget about customers. LOVE LOVE LOVE! I work a block away and this is the best during lunch break. All the bartenders are amazing and friendly. My favorite happen to be Angel and George. Lunch comes out quick not sure if its because they just opened up or if they know I am always there during my break. I usually order the boneless hot wings with fries however, their entire menu is delicious. I would also recommend the chicken parm sandwhich that seems to be my partners fav as well. I also love the draft options they have on the beer . During sport events and UFC fights they sure get a good crowd and its just an all around good vibe. 9-16-2019: I've come here numerous times around 4pm, usually on Mondays..Service is excellent, beers are cold and the food is great. It appears that this place does a spectacular job during the day and evening. Unfortunately I wish I could say the same about this place during the late night but I cant where I've notice thing to have gotten worse and worse. I went on a sunny saturday afternoon for lunch, not to busy. I ordered the chicharron de pollo with white rice, beans, salad, tostotones and avocado. My sister had the skirt steak with yellow rice mash potatoes. We were so hungry and wondered why the food took long. Eventually it comes...at first the presentation was nice and food looks good but then i see the beans, they are dry on top as if they were sitting for awhile. Then i taste them...COLD..tasted like they had served beans from night b4. The chicken was literally overfried...the tostones overfried...the worst part of it all was the WHITE RICE@!!!! The worst taste ever..not fully cooked...it was mushy, watery, cold!!!! My sisters rice the same it was just yellow...the mash was cold in the middle. We told the server, They brought me a another plate with rice and beans hot but it was even WORSE than what i had!! They didnt charge me for the food as i didnt eat it at all. So dissapointed!! How can you mess WHITE RICE & BEANS!!! LOL they didnt charge for my meal but they should have comped the whole bill since my sister hardly ate her food too.. In response to the owner who commented. I am actually a bartender who's been in the industry for over 10 years i know exactly how much we WERE paid hourly before the pandemic which has changed for service workers since the pandemic i don't know any establishment in NYC that is only paying their employees 10 dollars an hour since the laws have changed. I know for a fact auto gratuity is illegal in NY which i should have asked for it to be taken off of this bill because it's my legal right too. The service here was poor because of employees knowing auto gratuity is going to be added regardless. I know the exact differences between grade A steps of service given downtown compared to the D Grade service that is provided uptown and The Bronx. It's sad really that our people don't work harder for each other instead we half ass everything to just fast cash and bottle service. I've been the sole bartender with 150 covers and ONE server where just 2 FOH employees give better service than the 8 employees with 6 covers!! i saw what was going on, i know real steps of service. And it was only a handful of beers (literally) 5 and what I wanted they didn't have... in fact they didn't have anything I wanted... Asked for fried calamari .. they are being taken off the menu Asked for the mini mofongos... they ran out over the weekend... it's Thursday! That was like 4 days ago.. We didn't even have a chance to ask for nachos... waiter told us they didn't have any before we even asked for them. Got a good free cup of water though!!
