I had been looking for quite a while for a gardener to help clean up my yard. I have fruit trees, lawn, and many other overgrown areas that needed help and was just too much for me. Hector came out and quoted the work. Was there that weekend and charged exactly what he quoted. I was not there that day but my neighbors came out and let me know that they had been there all day, from 8-6 working their tails off. I highly recommend you give them a call. I have done business with Hector and his crew for over eight years. Hector has serviced my gardening needs with care and professionalism. He recently designed and completed a major (over $40k) renovation of my front yard, this included: a demo of an old driveway and the removal of thick ivy. After demo was completed they laid sod, poured concrete with precision, created a beautiful walkway with stairs, posts, caps and installed the lighting fixtures. Plants, decomposed granite and low voltage lighting finished off the yard. My neighbors, and I of course, love the work that Hector & his crew did. This was a big job and Hector's crew was amazing. He is fair, trustworthy, and truly cares about every detail of his work. Hector and I set up the installments for this job which was a big help to me. Original Review: Unreliable/Unresponsive. Left a voicemail December 6, 2015. It's December 11, 2015 and still no response. Follow Up Review: Hector came by today and was a complete professional. An understandable mistake: someone in the office accidentally deleted my voicemail. I even showed him my phone with a 30 second call on Dec 6th to prove that I was not blindly sandblasting his company. He was very friendly and came over today for an estimate. He came out and looked at our backyard took measurements and said he would get the quote back in a couple days. A week later still no quote. So I called him and he said he woild look it up and get it to me. Still no quote. I just wish I hadn't taken a day off work to meet him for nothing. read more

As a new homeowner, I soon realized that even my trusted gardener wanted to overcharge for the simplest services and I felt taken advantage of when I saw the quality work I was getting. Luckily, I eventually met Hector because I asked my neighbor for a reference (since he had the most manicured lawn on our block), and I could not be happier with Hector, his crew, and his continued service. Since I already had someone servicing my lawn but needed a sprinkler system with timer, etc. installed, I originally hired him for the sprinkler job only. Then, I needed my wall ivy along my entire property trimmed and absolutely loved it. Needless to say, I ended up replacing my usual guy and will only trust Hector from now on. I truly feel that I can go to him with all of my landscaping needs without hesitating about being overcharged for quality work. He is always professional, detailed, and shows that he cares about the service that he provides his clients. I found HLS (Hector) about a year and a half ago through Google. He seemed very nice and told him I did not want a service that will run through my yard in 10 minutes and wanted someone to do my yard as if it was their own. He agreed and said his guys are very good and will do a nice job. Price was good and told me all the things they would do to take care of my yard and lawn. His guys started off good but then started to go down hill after 6 months. They never checked the sprinklers for pressure or broken sprinkler heads. They only fertilized once in the year and half of down my yard; even though Hector said they did. They started to do the 10-15 minute job. I brought to Hector's attention everything they were not doing and he always said, "I'll talk to my guys". It got worse and worse; messed up the shape of my bushes, they had to be reminded to cut off the yellow prawns of the one palm tree. Always left leaves in the grass and around my yard. I kept sending pictures of the poor job they were doing. He always said the same this; I'll talk to my guys. He does not have qualified guys to do a good job and it's always different guys so they don't get to know your yard. One time a kid was mowing with an older man edging and blowing; with the young one doing the cleanup. Then after a year and a half, they don't show up and I asked Hector if they weren't going to show up and he text back with an poor excuse about one guy getting hurt and they could no longer do my yard. Did not even give me the courtesy of a heads up if he didn't care about how picky I was about my yard and how I like things to be done by his guys. Very unprofessional way to handle this situation. Hector came by to give us an estimate. He was super nice, said they took all major credit cards. I added more work because they took credit cards. He showed up with his crew this morning, he asked for payment. He said since we were using a credit card, we had to pay for the whole job up front and we could only use one card. (Never mentioned that before). We told him no way (we just got burned by California Pools for paying too far in advance, lesson learned). We told him we would pay for half now, half when they are done. He said "no, I don't know you people." Well we don't know him either, so we have to put all of our trust in him and he has none in us? No thanks. He started to get really rude and disrespectful. Finally he said, I don't think I'm going to take a credit card with you guys. Cash or we leave. Needless to say, they left. This guy has ALOT to learn about running a business. He's never going to be successful if he doesn't keep his word and disrespects his customers. read more

I really wish i could give this place a no star rating! hector came to my house yesterday morning, quoted me 60$ a month for every other week. told me $100 to do the first initial clean up on my yard. they get here at noon, the guys are out there working i get a knock at my door the guy says they broke my water pipe that my hose is connected to and it's pouring out everywhere! hector told me he'll quote me a price to fix it they broke it i'm not paying for that then said they'll either take cash or check for the $100 for today. yesterday he said he'd bill me every month for everything including the 100$ for the clean up today! i go inside to get my phone i go back outside they're gone! they didn't clean up anything they didn't even finish! i have fox tails now loose all over my backyard i have 2 dogs and fox tails cannot be around with dogs! this guy is scum and a con artist! what a piece of shit he is! don't let his niceness fool you because you're going to get screwed over by this scum bag!! read more

HLS Landscape and Hector are a big scam and will take you for whatever they can. Contracted him to do my front yard for $163,000 and I paid him $110,000 when he only completed $72,000 worth of work. He said he couldn't continue until I gave him more money because he needed to pay his guys, "help me out" he continued to say throughout the 3 months he was on my property. Not only did I end up with $7,000 worth of DEAD date palms which should have been under warranty if he had proper irrigation and water going to them but the entire front wall and columns need to be torn down and redone because he didn't get permits and didn't pour proper footing to hold the weight. My wall is sinking which is causing large cracks and can not support the fencing or the gate. He didn't pack the pavers properly or straighten out the drive way with the pavers so they all need to be taken out and repacked as well as the front of the driveway leveled so that the front gate will fit properly. They put a huge gauge above my garage door when they were breaking my original concrete driveway and got concrete all over my $4,000 gate which they never cleaned up and now it won't come off. Hector's vendors for concrete, trees and gravel have all sent me letters or came knocking on my door because they weren't paid. To top it off, one of his employees, who is apparently a convict because he made sure to tell me that several times came to my door asking for $1,900 because he wasn't paid. He threatened to damage my house and said he would come after me next. THIS GUYS IS BEYOND A CROOK. He's looking for a quick buck and hires day laborers to do work on your property who obviously don't know what they are doing. EVERYTHING we had paid him for to do has to be redone by the new contractor we hired after we kicked him off of our property due to all of the issues we were having. As of know, his vendors and employees have not been paid we have 2 liens on our property from Robertson's concrete and Alpha Materials. read more

TERRIBLE customer service. Several months ago I asked hector to come by to give me a quote for a small area by our office. At the time my boyfriend was out of town and wanted to do more work on the entire yard (front yard + backyard + side yard) and called the company again to set up an appointment. The secretary stated hector wasn't able to swing by for another week so we waited. When Hector was a NO SHOW. We called the secretary and somehow was strangely confused about this appointment (it was the same lady) then suddenly Hector on the line (strange because the secretary told us he was on his way for the past hour). Hector then argues with my boyfriend that his time is valuable although the secretary made our appointment. He wasted our entire morning waiting for him and I can't believe he had the nerve to raise his voice to us AND think of every excuse in the book. I guarantee his business will crumble with how him and his secretary are running things. He missed out on a huge project and I'm happy this company showed their true colors and they won't get a dime from us! I recommend NOT USING THEIR BUSINESS. read more

If I could give zero or negative stars I would. I called today for a quote. The lady on the phone (I did not catch her name) asked where I was located and I said Highland. She said that was too far. So then I asked if they only serviced Rancho Cucamonga and she said, "Well is this for landscape maintenance"? I said, "No it is a new build". She again said it was too far. I said, no it is not its maybe 30 minutes. Then apparently she looked it up and said, "No it is forty seven minutes". She proceeded to ask me to send her pictures of our backyard. Apparently this company only wants to work with the high class of Rancho Cucamonga. Apparently they need to see the size of paying customers backyards to make sure it is big enough and worth their while. I guess they only want to do expensive jobs. Never have I had a worse customer service experience in my life. I told her if she didn't want my business, that was fine and hung up. Poor job HLS Landscape Construction. No class and horrific customer service. Do not use this company unless you are rich or around the corner from them, it will not be worth their while. read more
