Feel just like home. Warm bowl of hearty spicy broth in a small cozy shop. Fast and friendly workers. If I live here, I'd come here every week. Bonus point that's right by the Link station. Love it!
I've never had bun bo hue before, but I'm definitely going to come back and have it again! My friend brought me out here for authentic Vietnamese food, and it definitely fit the bill. The tables are a bit cramped, and you sit next to other groups, but the food comes out fast and so tasty it's worth it. Come at off hours so you don't wait for too long - the restaurant was pretty full even coming after lunch time.
This is not a fancy spot by any means - come here for some authentic, comforting noodle soup. Every time I take the link past Othello I always see this spot and tell myself I need to try it. I finally got to do so! The space inside is small and cramped, and we were seated at a long table right next to some other people. I came with the goal of trying their bun bo hue, which has been recommended as the best in Seattle. They also have a few other menu options with the classic Vietnamese dishes. The bun bo hue came out nice and hot, with a side of fresh veggies. There was meatballs, beef slices, pork blood, pork feet, and thick rice noodles inside. The broth was absolute perfection - so well seasoned and paired with the noodles perfectly. I loved how chewy the noodles were and they were also super generous with the amount of meat. I'd definitely come back when craving that authentic bowl of noodles! Service was also really friendly :)
The best Bún Bò Huế in Seattle, hands down! I keep coming back for it. Plus, they offer fantastic traditional Huế cakes like Bánh Lọc and Bánh Nậm for takeout.
Cozy spot in sea tac area to get authentic viet noodles. Their bun bo hue very hearty and flavorful. Service was quick for an in and out lunch. They didn't ask for spice level and so it did come out a bit spicy but it was the perfect level of spiciness.
My grandpa took me here one time, so I knew it had to be good because he is a very picky man when it comes to Vietnamese restaurants. This was my second visit, and it is still great. Just across the street from the Othello Link Station, it is a perfect stop to or from the airport for a quick and hearty meal. It is a small restaurant, but it was pretty busy for a Friday lunch! We were seated immediately, and our server was really nice and gave us a big table because we had our luggage with us. It was a cold day, so I obviously had to order a warm, comforting bowl of pho. Which was a terrific choice because they did not skimp on the meats and the broth was full of flavor. Some FYIs - There is only a $1 difference between the small and large size for the noodle soup dishes! They serve hot tea instead of water, but I'm sure you can ask for water instead if that isn't your cup of tea. You will pay at the front when you are done, they won't bring you a check.
I was pretty excited to try this place for bún bò huế, but honestly, my experience was a bit underwhelming. As soon as you walk in, you're hit with the delicious smell of pho broth, which definitely sets the mood. But then, when we sat down, the table had this wet mildew smell, likely from their towels, which was pretty off-putting. My bún (noodles) were overcooked, which is a letdown for me. While I appreciated that their bún bò huế included pig's feet (a nice touch), the broth itself was just okay--definitely not spicy at all. One good thing was they had fermented shrimp paste, which is not always available at every bún bò huế spot in Seattle, so that was a plus. However, my friend ordered a dry hủ tiếu entrée, and it was really disappointing--it just tasted like peanuty hoisin sauce, and didn't have that authentic Hủ Tiếu Nam Vang flavor at all. Overall, I don't think I'll be rushing back. Still on the hunt for a good BBH spot unfortunately.
Typical hole-in-the-wall mom/pop spot with great authentic Vietnamese food. Been here multiple times and it's consistently great. Bun Bo Hue is flavorful with a rich and meaty taste. Bun Rieu is on point. Cha lua (pork cake) is super tasty. Efficient service, can get jam packed on the weekends but the food usually comes out quickly. Parking lot nearby can be hard to navigate but it's worth the effort!
A hidden gam! If you're looking for delicious and well-priced Viet food, this is the place to go! I had their bun Bo hue and it was pretty good. For a large it was only $13! We had their bun rieu and it was pretty good as well. Try their shrimp rice ball if you're looking for a good appetite! The service here was pretty good. It's a small restaurant and certainly busy! I came to eat on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and all the tables were full. It's also likely going to be a communal dining experience if you've got a small group or if you are eating by yourself. I ordered the bun rieu and I'm pleased with it! I'd say the flavor was light, bordering on a little bland, and the meatballs had a spongy texture to it. It's a hectic spot with crowded seating and a busy environment but it's still a comforting spot for a good bowl of soup.
Seattle seems to have tons of Vietnamese restaurants. My parents raved about Hoang Lan since they mentioned the broth tends to be lighter and less oily. My son is also gradually acquiring the taste of grilled pork over rice, and my wife loves BBH (Spicy Pork Blood Noodle Soup). Sounds like a win-win-win! The restaurant shared a huge parking lot with Safeway, and its tucked way in the back corner of the lot. You enter through the back hallway with bathroom and kitchen, but you'll eventually reach the dining area. Whew, so its not a hole-in-wall after all. The food here is legit, especially grilled pork over broken rice. The pork is marinated and juicy, but note you may need to trim around the fat and bone to get that awesome meat. I also enjoy the texture of broken rice since it seems to soak up flavor more by not sticking together. My 3yo son loved this dish - he gobbled up the pork as soon as I cut it for him. My dish was the grilled chicken vermicelli. Solid dish, and it seems like they threw in some pork sausage too. Wife enjoyed BBH but didn't care for pig feet. She commented her favorite BBH is Pho Saigon City in Pleasanton, CA. Overall 4 stars - a very good Vietnamese place. They even have this pork four ways rice dish with grilled, shredded, skin, and sausage preparations that I'll definitely want to try next time in Seattle!
Big bowls of authentic pho for only $13! Inside the graffitied storefront was bustling with patrons and if that wasn't enough to convince you to try, the delicious rich broth certainly is. We ordered the Bun rieu and Chicken pho and they came loaded with flavor. They're perfect for a cold day. The chicken pho was sweeter than I like but perfect for my friend. Next time we will come back to try their star dish, Bo bun hue. This restaurant is conveniently located just off the Othello light rail station! The only thing to be cautious about is parking in the large parking lot and finding your way in from the back entrance, past the small bathroom. Tip: They take card now!
One of the things I like most about Hoang Lan is how friendly and accommodating they are, especially with my girlfriend's dietary requirements (she's vegetarian). We started with Gui cuon, which are spring rolls. Generally, these are made with shrimp or pork. However, upon request, they made them with tofu. Delicious. As before, I ordered the Bun Thit Ga Nuong, Nem Nuong, which is grilled chicken and grilled minced pork on vermicelli. Just as good as last time. My girlfriend really wanted to try the same, and asked if they could make it vegetarian. No problem! She got hers with tofu. (I think I will try her take on the dish next time! It looked really good.) I asked about a salted plum drink again, but they still weren't able to make it. Hai, one of the owners, said that he could make a salted lemonade instead. I ordered that and it was so refreshing on such a hot day! A new drink I'll be having regularly. I love how convenient Hoang Lan is to the light rail. Just four stops from SeaTac, and you got yourself a great lunch. I highly recommend if you're on your way to the airport or returning from a trip. I now stop there regularly.
Hoang Lan has always been a special spot for me and my dad, it was his absolute favorite, and that alone keeps me coming back. Every visit feels a little nostalgic. I always go for the bún bò Huế, and it never misses. It's comforting, flavorful, and just hits the same every time. The service is simple and no-frills. You sit down, order, and your food comes out pretty quickly. The space is on the smaller side, so when it gets busy, don't be surprised if you're sharing a table with others. But honestly, that just adds to the charm. It's one of those places you go to for the food and the memories, not the frills. read more
I love me some bun bo hue. Happened to be in the area, so stopped by for some late lunch. There's parking lots around the back or in the plaza next door. The place itself is pretty small. Feels like your typical American Vietnamese restaurant, complete with a mirror wall to make the place seem bigger haha I ordered the bun Bo hue ofc which came out super fast. Comes with lots of different meat toppings and a good amount of noodles. I especially liked the pork meatballs. The soup itself is flavorful, punchy, but not very spicy. Service was speedy and nice. I like that they serve iced tea instead of just water. Or hot tea. Was super refreshing. Solid spot overall, not the very best bbh I've ever had, but pretty good anyway read more

i recommend this place like it's my job. insanely good BBH. i haven't had much from the rest of the menu but what i have had was delicious. if you're looking for a perfect food day, take the light rail here (it's right outside othello station) and get BBH and a salty lime soda then hit Che Dessert next door. pretty small so if it's busy you may not get a seat, but the tables turn over quickly and i've never had an issue. read more

Love LOVE love this place for bun Bo hue! It's always a solid breakfast option for my family and friends! The food comes out hot and steaming with a beautiful side of herbs and veggies to pair with the bun Bo hue! I love how large the portion sizes are and how well seasoned it is! Delicious! 4.5 stars if I could, docking 0.5 stars because the noodles were a bit too soft for my liking. Came here because I wanted to try more viet places in Seattle, since the many times I've been I've really just eaten non viet foods lol. Their bun bo hue was great. Service was like your typical home style viet restaurant - you sit, order, and wait then eat. I wish there was more beef but for a small bowl at $12, it hit the spot. Their homemade cha was delicious and better than any spots in SJ. Broth was well balanced. Veggies were fresh. Easy seating at 4pm on a Saturday. Would come back next time I'm in Seattle! read more
I came here with my sister after our errand runs, and it was delicious. I haven't been back here for a few years now, but it's still as good as I remember. The broth was really flavorful and is well-seasoned. It comes with pork hock and blood cube, which is an acquired taste. You either love or hate it. The service was great! The gentlemen dropped off the menu, gave us some time to look through the menu then come back as he dropped off the tea. The price is reasonable and they do accept credit cards now. It used to be a cash only establishment but I saw some customer using her card. Don't let this hole in the wall steer you away, it might not look like fine dining but this is as authentic than you can get. Plenty of people were ordering to-go, so if you're questioning if you should dine in, at least consider ordering to-go to experience the authenticity and goodness. read more

Amazing bun bo hue , fast service, cash only ( I think?). Fresh ingredients, plenty of vegetables come with it that are clean and fresh. Restaurant is dated and dingy, bathrooms.....let's not even talk about them.... Parking in the back of the restaurant ! read more
This hole-in-the-wall serves up one of the best Bun Bo Hue and Lemongrass Chicken Broken rice that I've had in the state of Washington. The Bun Bo Hue broth has a great flavor and I liked the noodles and meatballs. I typically don't care for the beef shank or pork hock in general, so I will decline to comment on that. The Lemongrass Chicken is grilled to perfection and the lemongrass flavor is excellent. My boyfriend loves ordering Lemongrass Chicken Broken Rice at different restaurants, and Hoang Lan is definitely a stand out. All in all, I can overlook the hectic/crowded vibes because the food is worth it. read more

I got their signature dish the bon bun hue, and was pleased with the taste of the dish. There was quite a lot of beef in the soup, and the broth was rich and delicious. The spicy was perfect to not be overpowering while still adding more dimension to the taste. I was not a fan of the taste and texture of the pork blood cube, and there could have been more noodles. There was also a piece of pork hock which was a little hard to eat. Overall it was a fine dish to eat, and I feel like while I didn't get the biggest bang for my buck, it was an acceptable price. Getting the large bowl is definitely the way to go given the $1 difference to size up for $15. Service was prompt and polite, and the place was not too crowded coming before 11am. For me this would be a place to bring friends, but not necessarily be a regular myself. read more

This restaurant has a fond place in my heart. A family friend used to own this location a long time ago. The experience all these years later definitely felt like home! The soups we had (three Bun Bo Hue and one Hu Tieu Nam Vang) were very tasty. I had Bun Bo Hue. It was sweet, spicy, and savory. Just the way I like it. The service was quick and easy as it was very straight forward with ordering the soups. The interior gave me a nostalgic feel to when I had visited Vietnam when I was a kid. Overall, a very warm experience! Although this place could be a little bit more cleaner, (kinda stinks too) I'd say it's a nice little soup shop. read more

When you get an overnighted fly and landed super early in the morning at the airport at 6am, after ya pick up the car, all you need to do is go straight to Hoang Lan restaurant. Theirs Bun Bo Huế & pho beef noodle soups will be hit the spot. It gonna make you feel good and regain energy after the long flight. We came to this place specifically because my sister was a fan of bun bo hue and this place was known for that. Service was fine. No parking really--we parked at a nearby strip--and the place is quite small. I wouldn't recommend using their bathrooms FYI. The bun bo hue and pho were decent but nothing extraordinary. I did really enjoy the banh bot loc tapioca dumpling though. Overall place was okay. read more

It's definitely a local hole in the wall, and doesn't look like it would be that great from the store front (or the from the back since that's where the convenient parking is located), but they definitely have a community of loyal customers. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was a little busy, but they were able to squeeze us in. The staff were fast and efficient, and we received our food only about 10 minutes after they took our order. They're best known for the bun bo hue, but I opted for the hu tieu nam vang. I usually order this dish whenever I eat at any Vietnamese establishment that serves it, and I can say the flavors and portion definitely met my expectations! At the first sip of the broth, I knew I'd be satisfied with my choice. It is a small restaurant, so just beware it can be a little tight and busy in there, but overall a good place to get your Vietnamese fix in. read more

- This was a small local business, with their best known dish being bun bo hue! It's a small restaurant, with a total of 10-14 tables. Lots of families in the area come here, so there might be a little wait if you come here on a weekend. It was delicious though! - Of course we all (6 of us) ordered large bun bo hues ($13 each). It was a big portion for a good price! You could definitely share this between two people, but don't get me wrong. Definitely beast this bowl on your own if you're hungry. - The broth is delicious, the noodles are cooked well, there are big pieces of liver and the protein is good. I would probably come back again but just with family. Although it does seem like it's not as spicy as it used to be. Maybe catering to a Seattle that keeps getting gentrified? Tragic. But that's commentary for a different website. - I also heard the vietnamese coffee is really good here. I haven't tried it but I heard it was good. - Although I was most impressed by the service! There was one guy running the entire floor. - Definitely stop by and support them if you're craving some Vietnamese soup! read more
This place is known for their Bun Bo Hue and I have to say, their recognition is well deserved. The flavor of this slaps you in the face with that good good hardiness and savoriness. Definitely worth devouring. So here's my story. Years back, I came here with my brother who hands down tells me this place had the best bun bo hue. I wasn't much of a fan of this Viet dish back then, so I was like okay, I'll try it. So we ordered and we ate. I didn't think anything of it other than it was alright. Present day, took my friend here. Place was bustling mad. Tables were full, crazy take out orders slamming them, and there were two lines that formed from both the front and back of the restaurant. This place wasn't a big place. People did come and go quickly which was impressive. Didn't take long for us to get a table though. I was impressed with how busy it was here. The atmosphere reminded me of Vietnam a lot. I liked it quite a bit. I once more tried the bun bo hue and my friend got the same cause of how he heard of it's popularity. We both ate it and at first my friend thought nothing of it. But then as he ate more of it, he started liking it more and more until he was convinced enough to say it was amazing. For me, the first sip of the soup got me immediately. I understood now why my brother likes it so much here. The flavor was quite mind blowing. The rice noodles was delicious as well as the meat and veggies in the bowl. This was a home run meal! Honestly, just thinking about it makes me want to order it again. I cannot knock this down. Best bun bo hue around Seattle for the following reasons: 1. Cheap. $14 for large and actually has proportional meat/noodle/soup. 2. Light, real tasting soup and not full of sauce and MSG. Service is like any other Viet place. You sit, they ask you what you want, you eat, you get up and pay. No talking, no service in between. Be aware it's a small place and it gets loud with everyone else eating. read more
Was expecting a lot. Left underwhelmed. Ordered mi quang and BBH. The pictures looked promising. Food did not come out hot, but lukewarm. The chili oil had no spice level to it. The noodles in both the dishes we ordered were not good. My BBH noodles were over cooked and mushy. The mi quang noodles were rubbery. The amount of meat I received was laughable. I see the amount of business they receive so I'm hoping I came on an off day! Prices were reasonable, so maybe I'll be back. read more
