The artwork on the front is quite comical :) This is a nice sweet cherry honey wine that I thoroughly enjoyed! I also bought a few other wines that I'll have to try in the next little while. I'm excited! After years of searching, my fiancé finally found the perfect brandy. He had tears of joy in his eyes while he sipped on The Hive Winery's Raspberry Brandy. He can't wait to purchase the other flavors! Also, each bottle has a fun message on the back, so be sure to check that out. We had a pleasant experience here and all of the employees were fun to talk with. We'd love to come back for a wine tasting sometime. We will definitely be back and are happy to support this local business!

What could be more "Utah" than making wine out of honey? I love how The Hive Winery has branded…read morethemselves and made specialty mead and fruit wine their thing-way to embrace the culture. If you're unfamiliar with the significance of honey/beehives in Utah, do a little research-the metaphor of beehives dates back to our pioneer days. Utahns are industrious people. If you're more interested in traditional wines, this might not be for you. But it's fun to venture out and try something new. My friend and I scheduled a tasting to celebrate her birthday and each opted for a different menu-I did the wines, while she did the spirits. We would take a taste of each, then share, so we ended up really tasting ten different items. I enjoyed the Pioneer Red as well as one of the whiskeys-although I've forgotten the name of that one. I didn't care as much for the meads-those had a flavor that I didn't love as much. Our host, Michael, was friendly and not only explained what we were tasting but also carried on conversation with us, making us feel at home. He had a dry sense of humor, which I appreciate. Speaking of humor, there is an actual curtain that can be pulled across the bar/tasting area to partition the alcohol that's being consumed from the patrons in the gift shop (since minors could visit the shop with parents, I'd assume. We made sure to close it and get some pictures of the custom-made curtain that cheekily acknowledges the silly Utah liquor law. We asked if it would be possible to take a tour, but were told that they can't give tours-which I'm still confused about, because I've taken tours at other locations in the state. Maybe they are just extra cautious and don't want to do anything that could get them shut down. Or perhaps it has something to do with how their business is classified. The tasting menu changes each week, dependent on what new product they are putting out. It would be a fun way to check out the new inventory and pick something you'd like to take home. I know I will!

A neat lil distillery nestled in the mountains in Eden, Utah…read more We bought two tickets for a distillery tour (I think they were ~$20 each) & the experience was well worth the money. Chris & Ashley, co-owners of New World Distillery, have perfected the ideal distillery tour. It was a seamless blend of technical distilling knowledge, equipment explanations, liquor industry lore, & of course, taste-testing. We tasted 7 of their products, straight & neat, & learned a bit about each one. The vodka was amazingly drinkable. Distilled from agave, it has a pleasant sweetness to it that differentiates it from other vodkas. It also, unsurprisingly, smells a bit like tequila. At the tail end of the tour, Chris made the smooooothest transition to a lil speech on supporting small distilling. The war against big booze rages on, but Chris definitely gained some small booze warriors that day. It's clear they love motorcycles at this distillery. Half of the spots out front are reserved for bikes. I hope to come back on my hog someday. Thank you Chris & Ashley for inviting us into your world for a little bit. We could only take one bottle with us (we got on a plane to Rhode Island the next day) but we'll definitely be back for more someday.
