I was shopping at Hobby Lobby, and as I was pushing my cart down an aisle, an employee was pulling a ladder to help another customer reach items on a high shelf. In the process, they knocked over a long metal pole used for grabbing items from higher places. The metal pole fell and hit me directly on the forehead, and it was extremely painful. The employee only asked, "Are you ok?" and that was it. I feel that during a busy holiday period with heavy foot traffic, they did not show enough safety awareness or ability to handle unexpected incidents. The bruise on my forehead is already quite serious for an adult, and it could have caused much more serious harm to a young child or an elderly person. A simple "are you ok?" felt very insincere and inadequate given what happened. read more

My friends and I were waiting for our dinner reservations and had about 30 minutes to spare, so we decided to pop into Hobby Lobby. Even though there's a Hobby Lobby just around the corner from me, I'd never been inside. But after this visit, I have to say, "This place is pretty damn cool!" I'm not exactly a DIY, Martha Stewart, arts-and-crafts kind of guy, but I could be. (Well, maybe a little--I do have an artsy side.) The store has a bit of everything for everyone. I was surprised by how big it was. It's more than just a hobby shop--it's like a cornucopia of stuff. My kind of store! We didn't have much time to browse, only about half an hour, but you could easily spend an hour or two exploring all the cool things they have. You know, the stuff you don't really need but can't resist because it's funky and cool. "Why the hell not?" I mean, what's one more thing to collect dust around the house? Exactly. However, the prices can vary. Some items are reasonably priced, while others make you go, "WTH? Really?" Like, you're telling me this unpainted wood crate, probably built by a kid who got paid $5 for the day, costs $100? I guess I can see why: 1. Hobby Lobby needs to cover the cost of this massive store. 2. They have to account for losses due to customers damaging goods. I saw at least two people drop and break something. One of them was in our group, but let's keep that between us, okay? I can't really comment on the customer service since we didn't interact much, but the staff seemed to be in good spirits and helpful. I love the Christian music they play and the biblical verses they have with their signs. I lost a loved one before the 4th of July holiday and wasn't in the right state of mind to set up anything i had anymore so it all just sat there and went to waste, I finally mustered up the energy to come return my stuff and a few things didn't have the tag on it for the price but everything was unused and one manager refused a couple of things because the original packaging was missing but NOWHERE IN THE POLICY does it State that it HAS TO HAVE THE TAGS ATTACHED TO IT. NOWHERE. On the receipt it says that they value their customer satisfaction and that couldn't be FURTHER from the truth. Mayra came up to the register mid transaction talking about "what are you doing?" To the cashier as if she was blind and couldn't see she was doing a return and the cashier said she was doing a return then she started telling me NO! You can't return any of this! There's no tags! I said where does it say In the policy it needs to have the original tags and she started reading it, then read the receipt and LOW AND BEHOLD IT DOESNT SAY THAT BUT SAID SHE CAN REFUSE MY RETURN!!!!!!!! I HAVE MY RECEIPT AND THE ITEMS. I'm missing a TAG so she couldn't return it even though it didn't state that anywhere ??? She even ARGUED WITH ME IN FRONT OF MULTIPLE OTHER CUSTOMERS HOW UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISGUSTING. She needs to be demoted she does not, by any means uphold to the hobby lobby standards of "valuing customer satisfaction". If you wanna have a bad experience, come to this location. Stopped by this morning to browse around the July 4th merchandise. I selected a few things and went to check out. Only one cashier and I was the 5th person in line, with several people behind me. The transaction/customer the cashier was dealing with was taking a long time, including the customer running back to get something else, basically holding up the line. Finally a older lady opened up a register and started to help other customers, when I, and some other customers moved over to her line, we were loudly told that there is only one line. I loudly said that there should be more than one line opened with the amount of customers you have waiting. This seems to be a reoccurring situation at this store. They have employees walking around chatting etc..but not checking customers out in a timely manner. Wake up Management! read more

I scoured the websites of craft and all-purpose stores for crochet supplies before heading to HL today. Aside from a dedicated Needle Art store, this was my only hope of one-stop shopping. I haven't taken up a hook for 8-10 years, so I needed everything: lighted hook, sewing scissors, stitch markers, tapestry needles, and yarn. I found I Love This Yarn in beautiful Plum tones perfect for my ear warmer headband and who knows what else. Don't call me: I'll be watching a pattern tutorial on YouTube (with Roku on my TV!), sipping hot chocolate, and listening to the rain for awhile. I come to Hobby Lobby for the Fabric. The Truck comes every Monday. So I come in the evening to give them time to put it on the selves. Well lately I have been told that the fabric isn't put out until Wednesday or Thursday. Well that doesn't make sense. Hobby Lobby has a add out every other week with 25% off. So if you put the fabric out those days it doesn't give us any time to utilize the 25% off because the add is only good until Saturday and Hobby Lobby is closed on Sunday. So I went to this location this morning just to see perhaps they may have put the fabric out.... Well no they didn't. It's just sitting on the floor waiting to be put out. How hard is it to take the fabric out the box and put it on the shelves. Now if you go to Eastland Hobby Lobby they put is out as it comes in. SMH read more

I am so disappointed in hobby lobby. I am a senior citizen, disabled, and it is painful to stand and walk. I was standing in line when a new register opened up, but the guy the young guy who worked it brought the two young girls behind me to his new open register. I said something about it that I was next in line, but he ignored me And I said some thing again and he didn't say anything. Then the lady the line that I was in the lady says something to me an older lady, so I put my yarn on hers counter, and I said I wasn't gonna do business with them and I walked out. She yelled after me that she didn't want my kind of customer in her store and I said well that's good because I don't need this kind of store. It seems rare to find good customer service anywhere! Lol I walked in at opening on Wednesday July 7th, and the manager had literally all the employees up front berating them over appearance guidelines. I could hear her at literally every part of the store. After she berated them in front of customers, she then proceeded to force all the employees and customers waiting to checkout to listen to her pray. Finally another customer interrupted one of the employees being brainwashed to be ring him up so he could leave. I get that you're a Christian owned business but maybe berate/brainwash your employees before or after operating hours. Also, not all customers are Christian so maybe keep prayer off the main floor. read more

If you're into DIY this is the place for you. SUPER affordable and any of my DIY projects this is my go-to store. Their prices beat jo-Ann's and michaels for sure. Make sure to download hobby lobby's coupon off of their website before coming (you can just show them off your phone as well, you don't have to print it out). They have a good selection on party supplies as well, not sure if it beats party city. BUT their selection is not as common as party city's so it's nice that they offer options that differ from party city since their stuff is so mainstream. FIRST TIMERS: you MIGHT get overwhelmed with the store. If you don't know what you want you'll easily find yourself wandering in the store for hours, so make sure you have a game plan before heading into this place LOL. My latest DIY project: champagne party favors. All you need is mod-podge glue, FINE glitter, and some ribbon to finish it all off!!
