It's not that they start slow with a few ornaments in July, the store doesn't do Halloween and is not really a back-to-school destination (unless your ascending undergrad is really into decoupage) so... it's hop on the Good Lord's 2,023 Birthday Celebration and dust off every elf on the shelf just a tad early. As a parent of a toddler, visiting Hobby Lobby by my lonesome feels like a beautiful escape. Even if I don't find anything, touring the aisles make me pleasantly calm and peaceful. Today I was lucky enough to find a beautiful piece of artwork- and 40% off! Don't buy anything that isn't 40% off, because at one time or another, it will go on sale. You just have to be patient! Went to return Christmas balls I purchased and was told there was a special line for returns. As the store was not so busy as we waited on line 3 cashiers had No customers I asked to move to one to return my item and pay for other items in my cart. I was told I could not do that because only one register was for returns. As the line got extremely longer one rep told a cashier to take some returns. Then a manager came out and told her not to because we could wait. I immediately asked for a manager as I was waiting 20 minutes to return one item and so was a woman in front of me and behind me. Julie, one of the many managers came out and said only one register was set up for returns and I would have to wait after all its Christmas time and they are busy. At this time the store with 3registers was not too busy..The manager walked away instead of helping alleviate the line. I carried on only because she said it's Christmas time and we can only have one line for returns. I believe as a manager she should have opened another register to help the customers on this return line...as it was over 45 minutes on this line to return one item I left my cart full of Christmas items received my return money back and walked out of the store and never will return there because of this unwilling manager to help customers . Crafts and home decor in a huge, clean store. Employees are usually pretty friendly and there are always a lot around. I think if you're a serious crafter you can get better sales at the other big craft stores. If you catch the clearance at this place though you can really clean up. They currently have up to 80% off clearance sales. Before you check out make sure you look on your phone for the 40% off coupon. And make sure you know your prices because each item you have needs to be manually rung up and sale prices manually entered. Came here earlier today to pick up a customized frame. First time in a Hobby Lobby, and was impressed by the selection. I came across a custom frame that was advertised as $29.99, but after the backing, acrylic glass and a border was added, total came out to $97.00. Not sure why anyone would advertise just the frame without all of the essential components. Notwithstanding, I purchased the custom frame. I just wanted to take the time to write about my negative experience with the person who helped put the frame together, as he was extremely rude. I did not take down his name, but it was an older white guy in his mid 40s to 50s, a bit on the heavier side with glasses and white gelled hair. I asked if he could put the frame together for me with an inch border, and immediately he started giving me an attitude and telling me he couldn't do it. He insisted that I brought the painting into the store, but I told him I was from out of town and just passing by. He reluctantly agreed to fulfill my request but warned me that if I didn't like the way the border came out, I'd be stuck with it. The whole time his demeanor was less than pleasing to work with. He seemed more annoyed by the fact that I was bringing him work to do, even though I was extremely polite. When the frame was completed, I told him it looked great and thanked him. He did not say anything in return, and still seemed to be in a fairly pissy mood. I then asked if the custom frame came with any hardware (i.e., the wire to hang the frame with screws). He told me no, and that that was sold separately, which cost me an additional $8.99. Overall, I was not very pleased with how the store advertised a custom frame as $30, which came out to well over $100. Further, if I'm spending money at your store, I don't appreciate your disgruntled employees giving me an attitude. I have shopped at this store ever since it has opened and never have any complaints. The store is always neat and the table displays are gorgeous!! It's great for people in the craft business because they have an enormous selection of supplies and stock available. One of the reviews written was surprising about human feces on the floor. I was in the store that day and did witness a toddler having an accident in the paper craft section. The mom did rush the toddler out of the store. The person who wrote the review expected compensation for stepping in it. This is absurd!!!! Watch where you are walking. A retail worker cannot prevent a toddler from having an accident. This store is good, but not amazing. It is better than okay though. It is quite a large store, and if you can get past all the Christmas stuff, you might something you would need here. They have a great selection of materials for that nice little crafter inside of you. Great array of paints, artist supplies. They do seem to have great deals at the store, but nothing surprising. They do have lots of staff willing to help you, which is a great plus. They do have a great frame selection, even larger than Michaels. However, to compare this store to another craft store like Michaels or Jo-Ann's is a little bit unfair. I love this store. I can spend an entire weekend at this store. It has everything a crafter/artist needs. Its only downfall is bc of its size its does not carry a big variety of specific brands on brushes, charcoal, paint etc. The prices are decent, not overpriced but as per normal you do need to know your prices. Employees actually know where things are in the store which is a bonus. Even, if you're not a crafter there is something for everyone who want to begin crafting. They do close early and are closed on Sundays. Its not "Pearl" sigh by no means, or a.c. Moore or Michael's but can find hard to find oddball stuff. Great store, different items for the home in addition to good prices on store brand craft items. Silk flowers not the best quality but plenty of other items to shop for. My only complaint is check out. First, you have to find which line is staffed. The cashiers, though polite, all seem very inexperienced & terribly slow. Returns are a nightmare without a receipt, even on Hobby Lobby items. It took 20 minutes to get a $1.59 refund for a spool of ribbon because the cashier had to find it on the computer & then I had to present a driver's license & sign 2 forms. I could understand if it wasn't Hobby Lobby Brand but it was obvious I bought it at one of their stores. They need to bring the checkout/return systems into this century. read more

The store itself and the merchandise is great but every single time I go, checking out is a painful process. They never have enough cashiers, their system of processing transactions is primitive and takes forever, and when they do call for backup they never take the next customer in line in an organized way. I love this store. Plain and simple. One thing for sure, it's not your mainstream Michaels' or AC Moore. And there are a lot of times when I still take a trip to those stores to find more common things. However, if you're ever looking for unique items, interesting finds, or just love that crafty environment - that is the place to come. I love their end of season / holiday clearance racks, as well as their 50% sales. Some items may cost more here than at Michaels, but there is always a 40% coupon available on their website. As to all of you "equal rights activists" ... have you ever been up to a Judaic store, just up Rt 9? You think they carry Hindu, Catholic or Muslim objects? Do you protest them? No, they are Jews, they exercise their right to have a Judaic store filled with Jewish objects. And that's OK, because in this country everybody has a right to express what is close and dear to them. I've been here and as a store, they have a huge variety of merchandise and if you catch one of the sales you can get a pretty good deal. Let me start off by saying that if I could give the store no stars I would! My experience yesterday was absolutely disgusting, I felt disrespected and completely unvalued. Yesterday I was walking in the store with my daughter, ready to spend money to decorate her new apartment. As we were browsing through the aisles, we were looking around at all the different items, when all of a sudden I stepped in something mushy and smelly. It was HUMAN FECES!!! I was mortified and disgusted (STILL AM). Words cannot describe how I feel!!! When my daughter went to get the manager, he told her to go back to the aisle because someone will clean it up for us... I'm sorry but you have a customer that is not only humiliated but also traumatized and terrified that whatever she stepped in contains diseases and you just turn them away. He treated us like we were over exaggerating and didn't care enough to even come see what happened himself. He seemed unfazed by the whole situation which begs the question... Has this happened before? He sent his customer service manager, to the back to clean up while he stayed to make a return... Basically the $15 purchase was more important to him than us!!! The customer service manager was trying her best and was very apologetic, but it was not her place to deal with this type of situation. The store manager didn't even give us the time of day. And when he finally came to see what happened, 15 MINUTES LATER, he told us, "Well it's not our fault this happened"... EXCUSE ME??? NOT YOUR FAULT!!!!!! You are the store manager, IT'S YOUR JOB TO PREVENT THIS! At that point we were infuriated.... I cleaned myself up (took 45 Minutes) and the customer service manager gave us the corporate number to call. I called them the minute we left the store and I got no response, until I called them two more times the next day. I spoke with the corporate customer service manager, and my phone call with her was just as bad as my experience in the store. All she told me was that "corporate cannot offer any compensation or discount, but can offer an 'apology' and a follow up with the store". No one even bothered taking my information down to follow up with me. I'm asking you out there, if this is a business that cares about their customers? They obviously felt that I was not important enough for them, as a paying customer, to make sure I would come again or forget this incident. There are a lot of other department stores that would have loved my business, would've treated me with a lot more respect and hobby lobby is an awful business and I hope and pray that nobody will step foot in their stores again!!! read more

Well, well, well. I finally went o Hobby Lobby, after hearing it's a place I need to visit from friends and family. It's a cool place, with good sales and all that. Everything we bought was 50% off, but was it really 50% off? Because now I hear if you wait a week, after stuff goes on sale for 50%, it then moves to the clearance section for less, which sounds pretty neat. I'd go back, but it's not a bucket list if that's what people think. read more

This is a great store. I live in area which is approximately at the same distance from Hobby Lobby, AC Moore and Michaels. So I have been in all these stores and I can compare. Each store has its pro and cons, but Hobby Lobby overall is the best. And they do carry Jewish items, I see them every time I am there. They have fabric department, which is a huge plus. Now, when fabric departments at Wallmart, for example, are practically non-existent, and other stores do not have them at all, this is virtually the only place to find fabric. (The only big fabric store in this big area of NJ is in Lakewood, but it is far away, and Fabric Inspirations on Gordon's Corner has only cottons). It is not a huge selection of fabric, true, but for a craft store it is very big, it is practically the size of what Wallmart had in the past, and they have different kinds of fabric. Michaels has none at all, and AC Moore only has small squares of fabric for quilting and very small selection, that's it. The prices are not higher than in the other stores, and some items are cheaper. They have something for such craft as dollmaking, for example, and Michaels has none of it. AC Moore has smaller selection, and prices are higher. For example, a muslin doll is $8.99 in Hobby Lobby, and the same doll is $12.99 in AC Moore. Hobby Lobby overall has bigger selection almost of everything, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Whatever I needed, I found it there, all in one store. Of course, it can be even bigger selection, for example, in trims and ribbons, but I think they are improving in this. The last time I was there (two days ago), I saw that they have now better selection in trims. It is not like in trim stores in Manhattan (Fashion District), of course, but it is very decent. Much better and bigger than in Michaels and AC Moore. As for Sundays, well, this is not convenient, but this refers to working hours, not for the content of the store. It's a pity, but I do not know the reasons, so I would not guess and make spiteful comments without knowing either the reasons or the persons who made this decision. Maybe they do not have enough personnel, and the personnel are also people with families and need the day off, too. Overall, great store. read more
