After many attempts and many years trying to be a happy customer here, it appears it's not possible for Hobby Lobby to educate and train their staff to provide basic customer service by greeting or at least acknowledging customers as they shop. Not even the manager shows a good example. It's really sad because I like the products but there is zero smiles, friendliness or customer service. Makes you wonder how they show the public how to reflect God's love as a so called Christian store. They are lucky to get one star. This reflects all the way up to the CEO and if I were in charge, I'd be making sure every employee smiled and looked at the customer. Interestingly woman complain about male dominated jobs, but when the women dominate retail they do a horrible job for the most part of being professional to me at least and I'm a man. Nice crafts, terrible company. They offer their own brand of yarn, Crafter's Secret, misrepresent this yarn as a medium weight, it's not, it's thinner. I ordered sufficient yarn for medium weight to crochet a throw, 2900 yards. Because this yarn is thinner than medium weight, I now have insufficient yardage. 2 feet in to project I called to see if they can try and match dye lot for another 1000 yards. They offered no help, tell me it's my problem for the yardage, it's not their responsibility on misrepresentation of type yarn, (even though it's the store brand) won't try to match dye lot for another purchase, and won't refund it after my wasted time . I've had much better customer service from Joann's who does make good on yarn problems. For a Christian company they're not very Christianly, preferring to treat their customers poorly. Hobby Lobby has once again increased their holiday prices. 2 years ago their coupon was 50% off, last year and again this year it is only 40%. They are WAY over priced. The garland with bulbs on it is $149. Last year or maybe the year before I bought the same one for $89 and used a coupon which made it affordable. This year I need four of the $149 garlands which will costs $400 after using the 40% off coupon. Ridiculous and greedy. read more

My wife bought a colorful Janome sewing machine since it was small and just needed it for some light material, when she change the setting to zigzag motion the needle broke immediately, she replace the needle and it happen again, decided to try a different needle and same thing and at the end we find out that the sewing machine was defective since factory. We try to exchange it at the store and were told that we has to go directly to the manufacturer and now have to pay extra money to have shipped both ways. read more

I visited Hobby Lobby for the second and last time yesterday . There were 25% off sale signs placed in front of some merchandise that my daughter purchased. When she went to pay they charged her full price and told her the sign should not be there. The salesperson went and removed the sign and crunched it up and threw it away. If I had not insisted that they give my daughter the sale price as posted, she would have had to return the merchandise . I was then treated so rudely by the cashier when I went to check out, that I left my merchandise and left the store. If was a very bad experience and neither my daughter nor I will return to that store . It is interesting that they present themselves as a Christian organization . Why are all the employees there either grouchy, vapid or rude? I encountered three employees on my last visit and was not impressed with any of them. I only visit craft stores maybe twice a year (Michael's, Joann, and HL) so it was no wonder I got my couponing confused. If I recall, Joann's will honor other stores coupons; or it might have been only the stores in Orange where I lived. Either way, when I asked at the register if they honor Michael's coupons, the response I got was a derisive snort followed by a, "no-wa"! Snooty little ba$tard. SO rude. I apologized for my oversight, but he carried on and on, and now we're in a conversation about how wrong I was, and was forced into me explaining how the other stores operated. Shouldn't he be informed of the competitive stores and their policies? One would hope so. Instead, this individual chose to dress me down. I will not patronize this or any other Hobby Lobby again. Holy cow!! This place is ginormous!!! We didn't have enough time to walk through every aisle, but the next time we have a couple of hours to kill, we'll be back. I kind of feel badly for Michael's and Home Goods, because Hobby Lobby has everything and a lot more of it. The stuff is also laid out better and is easier to find. They also have wedding items that you can rent (arches, pedestals, etc.). Don't shop here until after you've set a budget for yourself, because it'll be easy to overspend. ;-) read more

Typically, I don't write reviews about these kind of stores, but I just had a great experience that I wanted to write about it. I was shopping for a few items, and I accidently dropped an expensive jar. The manager came right over and cleaned up the mess. When j asked how much the damage was, he said not to worry and just said "just keep shopping". It was so nice and when I walked around there was some good bargains on frames and home decorations. Decided to do some Christmas shopping on Black Friday and stopped in to Hobby Lobby my first time here. As I stepped through the doorway I was so intimidated by how huge the store is from the inside. I didn't know where to begin to start looking so I took out my list and ask an associate who took me to where I needed to go. The cashier was very friendly which made the mood in the line better as you can imagine on Black Friday how crowded it was. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood and followed the cashiers lead. This store is awesome!! This is the hugest home decor/arts and crafts/decoration store I have ever been in! It's like Michaels, JoAnn, Pier One, and Homegoods love child.They have a ton of wall decor, photo frames, themed decor, floral, scrapbooking, mirrors, iron decor, clocks, fabric, paint tools, ceramic art, clay,yarn, furniture,decorative storage,....I'm talking aisles and aisles of this stuff! I could go on and on and on with listing more products they offer, but you get the hint! I recommend comimg here if you are trying to do a certain theme because they have it all together and the displays look cool and give ideas. Sometimes I just like to read all of the quotes in the wall art.They have a lot of items marked down or on clearance as well. My advice is be careful and make sure that it's actually on clearance! I've been decieved by their signage before, it will look like it's all the items in the section when really it's only certain ones.....especially the 50 percent off stuff. I always verify with the cashier what the price on my items is, because there has been discrepancies before....they also have coupons on their mobile app! I always find something to buy here, in fact I don't think I have ever left empty handed. My only issue is that the cashiers are slow....it's happened more than once where the line is building because the cashier is going really slow, and they finally open another register after what feels like an eternity. I love the store but the customer service at the Foothill Ranch location is horrible. No one ever asks if you need help and the cashiers need more training on what is on sale because a lot of times they are clueless. This is the closest craft store to my work, so I have stopped in on my lunch break on many occasions. Today was the first time in the year or so it's been open that I actually purchased something. Despite being huge they never have what I need. The staff is friendly, but it doesn't seem like they are trained very well. Joann's is the place to go to talk to people who actually craft/sew/etc and Michael's staff have great product knowledge. They never have what I need and whenever I ask for help there is always a long process for the staff member to figure it out. Today I actually managed to find 3 of the 7 yarns I was looking for after quite a bit of searching. I went in because the yarn I needed was on sale. The staff didn't know this had to look it up and rang it up at the wrong price. I'll still be going to Michael's or Joann's anyway to get the rest of what I needed, and I'm fine with that since those companies seem a lot better. read more

Store has great selection, value and quality - would have rated at least 4 stars if not for the check out. Floor clerks are great but customer service at the front is seriously lacking -- so much so that I left wondering if I would ever be back. Long, slow lines. No customer service desk so returns are in the same lines as purchases. Cashiers (one of whom was wearing a lanyard that said she was the customer service manager) didn't know pricing and offered up excuses for it. Apparently the registers aren't preprogrammed for the appropriate sale so beware when checking out. Even someone who appeared to be the store manager was up front but didn't seem to be helping much because he was tied up on the two working registers with returns. read more

Then another NEGATIVE 5 stars for customer service. 1) like the other reviewers who gave low ratings, you're always waiting forever to check out. 2) I went there today and not one but TWO employees behaved like I was putting them out (um hello, aren't you employed because of customers who spend at your stores?!) the first employee who looked like she was doing inventory and putting out items nearly bit my head off when I inadvertently picked up an item that she was apparently in the middle of pricing. She proceeds to tell me that I'd have to come back tomorrow if I want to find out not only how much it cost but to buy it. Whatever. The second "helpful" (cue eye-roll here) employee was at checkout. I brought my own recycle bag to put purchases in and when I reached across to put an item in my bag that SHE ALREADY SCANNED, she tells me, "I didn't get that one yet" I then pointed to her monitor and said "it's the first thing you scanned" this was a 7.99 item among eighteen other .24 cent items (loose card stock) it wasn't that hard to figure out. Apparently for her it was. **Note to management: Customer Service 101 is sorely lacking at your store. Seriously. Start implementing it STAT. read more

I placed on order almost 3 weeks ago at the Foothill Ranch location. I was given the rain check for 30 Glass Candle holders on 4/2. I was told by Shawn the order would be placed on Friday the 4th and I would receive it on Tuesday the 8th. I called on Tuesday to make sure they came in ok and I was told the order wasn't even placed because the rain check was in the wrong location. The female on the phone assured me it would be placed on the 11th since I told her there were for my wedding. The 15th rolled around and I called the store and was told the truck had broken down and to call back tomorrow. I called back and was again told by Danny the order was not even placed. As these are the center pieces for my wedding I needed them ASAP. Now I am being told the order was placed and I will receive them the 22nd. Based on the past experience we will see if they even come in on the 22nd. I am guessing they won't. read more

I have loved Hobby Lobby for the most part but today I had a very disappointing experience. I wanted to buy a lamp. The price was $79.99 and today they were on sale for 50% off. Which was a decent deal but would still put it at about $50.00 with tax. Upon looking at the lamp, I noticed glue seeping out of the seam line & yellowing on the edging up top from dried glue. I asked the manager if she would sell it to me "as is" for a small added discount & I will just make it work. Not only did she say an abrupt 'No' but it is back on the shelf!!! I expected more from a company that until now seemed to have high standards. I think what frustrated me so much wasn't that she would not give me the discount but that the manager did not care. It was just No with a smile & she walked away. So bummed because I loved shopping at Hobby Lobby & now I just feel like I don't want to support that type of management. read more
