Today was an arts and crafts day with husband. We got a chance to walk the entire store and stumbled across a toy section that had things from telescopes to teaching materials that would help the kids learn about the earth. We also looked for peel and stick wallpaper but was unable to find any but the employee told us to try online and it's a lot of options there. Hobby Lobby, as any craft store, has its ups and downs. This Germantown location is the HUB of suburban housewives- crafters, scrapbookers, and quilters converge here, and there are almost always lines at every open register. The store is Christian-centered, and it shows, with crosses everywhere, and Christmas available 9 months out of the year. My issues with Hobby Lobby are that they don't have any Hanukkah items available for those of us with friends outside the religion (made buying bunco gifts very difficult one December), and that they play horrendous (to me, this is a matter of taste) contemporary Christian music. The prices are reasonable, and "Sales" are going on almost all of the time, on frames, paints, etc. It's more likely that a sale is on than off. I am a Methodist, and love everyone, especially Jeff D. in the framing department. If you want to talk Jesus and martinis in the same conversation, while having your artwork creatively framed, he's your man. If not for the framing department, I'd probably just go to Michael's. *TIP* Go on your phone and google "hobby lobby coupon" and you'll be able to pull up a coupon code for 20% off one item, right at the register. read more

Normally I wouldn't give Hobby Lobby five stars, but in this particular instance, I have to. I'm looking around for flowers for my wedding, and I did not think it would be this freaking hard to find what I was looking for. What I want does not exist in nature so I'm going the silk route. I rarely buy flowers (real or fake) so I've just never paid attention to what craft stores offer, but I didn't think it'd be hard finding brightly coloured daisies. Every other place basically had...silk versions of what you'd find in a flower shop. Muted colours, and such, that is. What's more is other places (including every Michaels I went to) had such a small selection and even as of over a month ago were already carrying what I guess were summer flowers (which were rather boring, I was surprised) and now carry autumn ones. Sucks for anyone wanting to make an arrangement even just for themselves to have for a vase at their house! Anyway, back to Hobby Lobby. Their floral department I thought was laid out brilliantly, exactly how I would do it. Rather than a hodgepodge of flowers laid out with very little thought or organisation, here everything was done by...colour! And of course if there's multiple varieties of a particular flower available for a colour or something, they'll be grouped together. This method made it ridiculously easy to see if they had what you were looking for, and quickly see if they didn't have exactly what you wanted, what did they have that was close. Rather than run from aisle to aisle looking at various daisies, I could look at all the blue daisies next to each other to see what would work best. I agree with the previous reviewer, the customer service isn't that great. It's next to impossible to find anyone walking the floor, and it's a coin toss if the cashier you get will be friendly or not. The framing department (where I normally spend the most of my time) is pretty good though. Oh, and if you can find someone on the floor, half the times when you ask where something is or such, you get to where they told you to go and there's nothing remotely like what you were looking for. So just try to be very familiar with the store's layout I guess, and be prepared to spend more time than you'd think looking for something in case you have to walk across several aisles. Their customer service gets three stars, their selection five. Since they were also the only place in town that had the flowers I was looking for, that bumped them up a little. read more

Went into today looking for some yard decorations for the holiday and they had the full stock of July 4th decorations ready to go. The items I bought will do triple duty for Memorial Day, July 4th and Veterans Day. Nice selection on the patriotic theme front. Normally this store is packed and the check out lines take forever but it was pretty empty today so check out was a breeze. read more

I really love the framing department here. They are very helpful and detail oriented and careful with your piece of art. They offer great suggestions and they try to save you money .the finished products are always beautiful. This store is terrible. I placed an order for a large number of knobs. I was told they'd contact me within a week and they never did. When I called them, they said there were "a few more boxes to sort through" and they'd contact me later that day. They never did. I called three more times over the next week and they gave me a different excuse every time. Finally, almost 3 weeks after placing the order, they told me that they hadn't even come in yet. After they had lied and said they had them and they hadn't opened the box yet. When I canceled my order, they weren't even remotely apologetic. I don't think they ever even ordered them and they obviously don't care about their customers at all. read more

This hobby lobby is TERRIBLE. I mean seriously. Do not shop at this store. The manager was RUDE to us when we asked if our greenery was on sale which it was but we decided against it because the hassle was too much to deal with. Then another employee was shouting across the store to tell us that something we thought was on sale "is never on sale" then we accidentally knocked a couple hangers over on ACCIDENT and she proceeded to make snarky comments under her breath. Extremely displeased with this store. They have rude employees who need to learn compassion. The store was not even busy so there should be no complaint of being busy due to COVID and stores opening back up. read more

I could live in Hobby Lobby if it was allowed. The people in this store are so nice and helpful. I frequent the fabric department and Sarah is a delight to get fabric from! I feel like the employees are there to make sure I get what I need...and some things I don't need (but really want)! The selection at Hobby Lobby is extensive, and I almost always find exactly what I'm looking for, especially when it comes to embroidery materials and yarn. The customer service, however, is poor. I've been a customer at this store for approximately five years, and have learned that if you are looking for help or just friendly service, Hobby Lobby is not the place to go. When I walked into hobby lobby everyone was so nice and kind we were hurrying to check out and when we got up to cash register I had a coupon. First time visiting this particular hobby lobby and my last visit. Purchased a large arched wrought iron mirror from my local hobby lobby in Bartlett which is the one I always go to. I needed a matching large mirror and they were sold out. Since this is a clearance item the chances are they wouldn't carry anymore so I went to the Germantown store. They had one but the mirror was cracked at the bottom. It would have to be repaired but they were charging the same price as the previous one which wasn't broken. 100$ is a bit much to pay for a broken mirror!! I spoke to a person that was working the floor and was told that they generally discount broken items. I spoke to JW the manager that couldn't be bothered more than 10 seconds to tell me that broken or not, that was the price even tho I bought an exact same mirror with not a scratch at a different store. I really wanted that mirror and was willing to pay to get it fixed elsewhere but I cannot justify paying 100$ for a broken mirror. A big thumbs down on customer service for sure! read more

Rude cashiers rule this place. First of all, the lines were very long because it was Christmas and they only had 2 lines open at 3 in the afternoon. A new line opened up and the lady called for the next person in line. I was 2nd in line, but the lady in front of me told me go ahead and go to the new line. The cashier in the new line screamed at me, "NO SIR! GO TO THE BACK OF THE LINE!" The back of the line was now 10 people deep. I tried telling her that the lady in front of me told me I could go, but the cashier would not hear of it and kept pointing to the back of the line like she had turrets syndrome. I got angry and just dropped my things on the counter and walked out of the store. Unfortunately, the lady who let me go in front of her to the new line was out of the store by the time I got yelled at and could not back up my story. read more

As a loyal supporter of Hobby Lobby, I was extremely dissatisfied today with the Assistant Manager, Jennifer Whitley's(think that is what she mumbled) lack of customer service. While I was shopping today there was a technology issue with use of the Credit Card machines, so only transactions with Cash could be processed. While I am not upset at the technical part...since that was beyond her control...her Customer service skills lacked maturity and basic business knowledge. I was able to purchase using my cash...approximately $97.00 worth of items. I asked since I had been inconvenienced with the time spent waiting for the CC machines to come back online and for spending my cash, could I go back through the line and purchase a grapevine garland and use the same 40% off coupon...saving me $7.00. I was told no. The policy was 1 time per day. I know and understand this policy, but as I stated to Jennifer...along with other witnesses...this is an inconvenience to me and why would you loose a customer and a sell over the Policy...since your machines are down. Again told NO. I then said, Jennifer let me ask you...is it more important to keep a policy when cash is the only option today vs. allowing me to use the 40% off on another transaction and save me $7.00? I stated, you will loose a customer and her reply was it is the policy and sorry we will loose you. I told her firmly, that is a shame, that Customer Service is something that each of us can control 24 hours a day 7 days a week but technology is not...I am sorry you just lost a loyal customer. And then I requested a return on the previously bought items and wanted my cash back. At first it was an issue because your machines would not recognize the transaction, so they were processing it as a Return but NO RECIEPT...which meant I would get a Store Gift Card. I HAD JUST GIVING HER $40.00 cash. Finally another front end cashier came over and showed my cashier how to process it and all was handled. So after wasting 45 minutes plus another 18 minutes on the transaction...I walked away from a store I have believed in and supported tremendously and financially with a frustrated feeling and very unsatisfied no longer customer. Bottom line: If you are asking me to pay cash due to issues beyond your control and I have the cash on me to do this, You should be willing to make a compromise on your side also. We would have both won and our relationship would have continued. Today the lack of Customer Service is running high in the retail industry and your young Assistant Manager, Jennifer, is a prime example. Spend more time training your managers on how to handle "out of the Normal" ways of doing business and give them the ability to be flexible when business calls for it. read more
