Great selection and courteous customer service! They are really well staffed for a weekend. They have awesome sales, you can do many crafts for low cost. We went for a specific item which they were out of stock but we found it at another location. Special Shout to Denise... we had a full blown toddler tantrum. A customer was so rude and said shut up to my granddaughters crying. Denise quickly apologized and said we should not be embarrassed because this is a typical age for a toddler. I brought an artwork for framing on 2/20/24 . They said they were running behind and I would not see the completed framing until 3/5/20 . I went to check on3/11/24 and the person said without even checking status . "Oh we were lucky to get help from other stores Yay " and pointed to a person in back area on their personal phone. I said " My framing was due 3/5 and we are now at 3/11 so is it done?" She said before checking I can tell you no" I said can you check when I should expect it? I cannot figure why anyone would shop here. I received an Xmas gift from hobby lobby and wanted to exchange for something I could use. The staff at exchange desk was so rude and I needed to wait for manager to approve return. After 15 minutes I was able to return for store credit and as I walked through the store to find something for our Florida home. I ended up with magnetic clips and a coin values book. At the check-out I had $2.50 coming back from purchase, so I asked the young lady behind me if she would like the balance for her purchase. I told her I wanted to pay it forward and she greatly appreciated the credits. Then the first lady I had trouble with said he is not so bad. I just laughed as I walked out of the store. This is like my 2nd time ever stepping inside a Hobby Lobby. I came in here over the weekend looking for a craft items for My Mom's party. Nice and clean location. Aisles were easy to walk down for you to maneuver throughout the store. The staff was very polite and helpful didn't mind stopping and helping you locate the items that you were looking for in the store. Super cute decors and fun displays throughout the store. The prices are a tad bit overly priced. They had a few clearance deals also but still a little pricey. I guess it all depends on what your willing to pay for items. Nice place for crafty items, home decor items, furniture, plants and seasonal items. You can find something cute for every room in your home. There were just so many cute frame sets and wall hangings up in this place. It was nice just to walk around and see some of the nice things that Hobby Lobby has in stores. If you like home decor and craft supplies at affordable prices, this is the best place to shop! They have so much to choose from for all decorating styles, many items are on sale for 50% off. The staff is always willing to help and even walk me right to the aisle of item I'm looking for. The return policy is like all stores, need receipt or store credit. I love the Christian music they play and that they let their employees have Sunday off so families can go to church together. No person or store is perfect and they could open more registers some days but they seem to have good customer service over all. I'm there about twice a month. read more

I had called in to see if the store had 9 shadow boxes that I needed for gifts, and was told they could be ordered to the store. A few days later I called to see if they ever came, and I got some excuse as to why it was not done. I then had to drive all over the place to find the frames and by the time I was able to pick them up they went up to full price. One of the cashiers at the Downers Grove store didn't even try to bag my picture frames....0 customer service at any of the 4 locations I had to visit because the first store couldn't do their job correctly. Rudest people ever. Called to see if a ladder online I saw was in the store or only online since it didn't specify on their website. First time I called and waited 15 minutes on hold, screenshot below, before I hung up and called back. This time I asked to speak to the store manager and told him, I called to see if a ladder on their website was sold in the store and someone put me on hold 15 minutes never came back. No apology just asks me what is it that I'm looking for, give him the sku number puts me on hold and after five minutes someone picked up and hung up. I really like this store. I dont come here that often but whenever I do theres always something new to look at. I like looking at the fabric. I just made a blanket the other day and all the fleece was 30% off so that was exciting. Who doesnt like to save money, right? The aisles can get cluttered and I would be careful cause they have glass stuff in certain sections and I guess in a little kisok. Sometimes the glass can be too close to the edge so like I said be careful. Sometimes im afraid to walk by. I also like looking at all the crafts and beads and the build your own plane or train set. This place is a mess! And good luck getting out of there without waiting in the longest lines ever. Maybe things would speed up if they ever started using barcode scanners, like even my public library did in about 1990. I came here for some crafty merchandise, but it seems like HL is trying to be more of a home decor store than a craft place. They have a tiny amount of supplies for a large amount of crafts, maybe enough to get you started in a new hobby, but you'll need to look elsewhere if you want to expand beyond puff-paint t-shirts and basic scrapbooking. Their home decor stuff is inexpensive, but it is so, so cheaply made. If you are decorating your house in poor-quality, scratched up Chinese garbage, this is the place for you! They also carry an inexplicable amount of rooster-themed decor. Weird The big question, though, is do the sweatshop workers who make this junky stuff get Sundays off to spend with their families, too? read more

I love / hate Hobby Lobby. It's aisle after aisle after aisle of cheap, imported, wasteful, materialistic (and likely toxic) clutter and ... oooooh, SPARKLY! Look! 50% off Christmas ribbon! Glass ornaments! Yeah. So I like Hobby Lobby for my wired ribbon hoarding needs and Christmas decorating. I recently purchased supplies for quickly assembling an autumn, grapevine wreath for our front door. I don't like Hobby Lobby's selection of jewelry / beading supplies. The word cheap really does apply here. The prices are low, but so is the quality. To make anything worth wearing, I recommend finding a store devoted to beads and jewelry making supplies. I find the clerks here to be friendly and I believe this store has a new check out system. I got through check out swiftly during my last visit. I do feel a little awkward browsing a store full of throw-away, consumer-culture stuff while listening to a Muzak-like version of Holy, Holy, Holy. read more

I frequent this store on a weekly basis, if not more. I am fairly crafty, so I enjoy all this store has to offer. My only complaint is the amount of damaged goods that are on the shelves on a regular basis that are still being sold as full price. If I need something and can get it at JoAnn's or Michael's, I will go there instead. And Blick's is the perfect spot for art supplies. But if I am passing by and have a few things to look for, I will stop here. I usually am disappointed. The Hobby Lobby stores are like WalMart and KMart, they take everything about crafts, decor and art supplies, fake flowers, trims, scrapping and party crap and put it in a cannon. Then they shoot it out and call it a store. It has damaged materials in the good stuff, watch out. There are no staff to help you, and they don't know even if you ask them directly when you find one. I find sale items that I don't get sale prices on, until I find out when I get home and look at the register tape. I don't live close to the stores. For the good side, if you need something to bring to someone and have no idea or concern what it is, go here and get something on sale or clearance. If you don't need a specific theme or color, you can shop here for a bunch of different things at one time. The crafts are good for last-minute birthday or spec. occasion present. I need a scooter when I shop, or need to constantly sit down to rest my knees. The majority of larger stores have them, I haven't seen them in any Hobby Lobby yet. So I shop in pain now with a regular cart, or have my husband go around with a list and then I decide what I want from the cart when he gets back to the classroom I am sitting in to wait. This has really cut down now much money I spend here. And this is why the checkout is so depressing. Lines are long and checkout takes forever at every Hobby Lobby. I don't know why. So I will shop here if I'm nearby and have several things to look for, but I am frequently disappointed when it is a Sunday and the store is closed. Hire some atheists and have them work Sundays so you can be open for customers. read more

This is your crafting super store...plus some! It's been a few years since I've been to a Hobby Lobby. I had some time to kill, and I sure did spend it well in this store. I came in a few days after the new year and all Christmas stuff was 90% off. They were putting up Valentine's Day stuff, and all Spring items were 40% off which is good because it IS right around the corner! You can really go impulse shopping crazy in here...I did control myself though and only spent about $8 on two items. In addition to craft items they have frames, throw rugs, candles, wedding supplies galore, garden stuff, party supplies, and really... practically anything! Hobby Lobby sells everything. Seriously. If you love crafts of any nature, you will love this store. Period. Sometimes it's scary how much stuff they have and how cheap it is. Their prices are low and they sell all the scrapbooking stuff you can handle. We used to come here in HS because we could get everything we ever needed for sports-related crafts. Only downside: Cashiers are totally annoying. High schoolers are generally annoying, anyway, but these ones really take the cake. I like the convenience of having all my hobbies corralled into one industrial sized lobby. Even if I'm not the craftiest, nor even take an interest in being a DIYer (that's a defense against my dreams of becoming so self sufficient), I can claim one of my hobbies as shopping for all my friends on Santa's good list here and saving 50% on all my ceramic needs. Hobby Lobby keeps me entertained for hours on an otherwise boring afternoon. However, I find my experience here sometimes a bittersweet one. My spending is normally out of control and may seem frivolous to some people who don't understand my personal needs (read Lush reviews), but I am almost forced to dust off the old restraint quality I put on reserve and apply it reluctantly. I still find Hobby Lobby a bit overpriced. Aside from the ceramics sales, I usually cannot leisurely buy some odds and ends to spruce up my room without some financial and mental recourse. No matter how I feel about the prices, I will never bash this store. Hobby Lobby supplied all the flowers for my sister's wedding. She received many compliments on her floral choices, most assuming they were real, and the combinations of colors were just perfect. The price from real flowers to fake went from thousands to a few hundred, and no one could even tell the difference. The staff is always friendly and will help you find anything. Have fun! read more

Creative Center/Craft Center/Home Decor Center/Candy Center. That about says it all. I've come here for stamping and scrapbooking material as well as for home decor like picture frames and vases. They have a nice selection and lots of times some great markdowns/sales. And there is always a HL coupon every week in the Sunday paper. This most recent time I came here looking for party decor and pretty much found everything I needed. I liked the items here a lot more than the party megastores because they didn't seem as cheap or cheesy and I just lucked out to find some items that the party megastore didn't have--like Western Themed cupcake holders and western themed wrapped buttermints! Service is friendly, although the check out lines seems to take forever and a day. And what is it with people still paying with checks? This is the only store where it seems many people still use paper checks--that slows down the line a bit too. Not being judgey-wudgey, just an observation. I have only been to Hobby Lobby for framing purposes, but if I were a tidge craftier, or wanted some home decor, this would be the place to come. I bought my husband a matted animation character key for Christmas two years ago, and we never could find a standard ready-made frame that would fit it, thanks to its very thick matte. For his birthday I decided it was about darn time I had it framed, for real. The folks at Hobby Lobby were very friendly, helpful, and the art was ready at the specified time. One teeny weird thing -- I called the day before they'd said it would be done, just in case it was done early. I was told "we said tomorrow -- and we're running a few days behind" leaving me to believe I might not get it in time. But, the next day it was ready as promised. And it looks great. Generally I am a fan of Hobby Lobby. They have tons of stores around the Chicago area. They have great sales every week (check online for coupons). They have everything you could want for crafting - fake flowers, vases, picture frames, custom framing, fabric, yarn, embroidery, drawing/painting/art materials, beads, scrapbooking, holiday items/ornaments, greeting cards, and other home decor items. Hobby Lobby has a bad checkout system. I don't mind waiting in line, but the cashiers are usually high school kids that don't know anything about crafts!!! 8 out of the past 10 times I've been there I've probably been given way too much of a discount because the cashiers don't know the products they're selling and becaus the cash registers are manual. This would all be fixed with a computerized cash register system, but switching over is apparently too expensive for this retail giant. If you ask me...they're losing more money than they would if they switched over! Recently, I had a bad experience at this hobby lobby. I tried to purchase something in the custom framing department only to have the staff be incredibly rude to me. I'm not planning on going back to this location. I am in love with Hobby Lobby. We are going to have an affair on Michael and Jo-ann. I wasn't so impressed at first, but the HL showed me what's up. The store is huge and has just about anything your heart could desire. A lot of the items are hit or miss. Some are great quality for the price, others I wouldn't buy even if they were 50%. Each aisle had at least one thing I liked. Some of the base items for crafts were a bit cheap, but the actual accessories and little things are a steal. They have amazing bargains on their poster frames and wall decorations. The fabric section is pretty decent and prices aren't bad. I walked away with two sheets of neon pink leopard felt for $1. I wish I would have had more money, because they had everything I need to make candles. read more

What a fun place to shop! Before heading here I had called in advance to make sure they had the wooden beads I needed. The customer service rep was very friendly over the phone and ensured me they had what I needed. So I head on over after work and decided to browse, but finally asked someone for help because this place is a massive craft/decorative center. Upon seeing my selection I was disappointed because they weren't the beads I was expecting, but they'll work. (They actually worked out really well for the craft project I was doing!) After picking up what I needed I decided to browse some more. I could of easily stay there for hours, but the gym was calling my name. I picked up some paint brushes and ribbons and when I was paying the cashier told me the beads were on sale (50% off)! Awesome! The service I received from the associates on the floor and at check-out was great! Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable about everything I asked them. Hobby Lobby is a really hot abusive boyfriend. In a sick way you are so attracted to the amazing sales on a great selection of home decor and craft and art supplies. They undercut the prices of all other fabric stores and have low low prices on everything from bandannas to vibrant food dye. The problem is that this stores check outs are reminiscent of high school social studies class after lunch. They are so long and boring that you want to run screaming from the store yelling "I CAN"T TAKE IT!!!" You also have to ask yourself why are the prices so low? Where are these goods coming from? I love painting, decorating, scrap booking, doing anything crafty really... and it can be expensive! BUT, Hobby Lobby always has sales and it totally rules. Canvas can be way too damn expensive, umm.. not when it's 50% off!! I bought like 5 decent size canvas the other day for under $30 bucks.. Hobby Lobby always has what I need - why do I go any place else only to be disappointed every time? There is usually an abundance of what I'm looking for and in so many colors and various textures and styles. I feel like I'm Ariel in the Little Mermaid singing about her secret stash... A funny thing happened as I was going to Hobby Lobby: I was texting a friend and mentioned that I was going to Hobby Lobby and surprise, she was already there, so she shopped a bit more, (it's easy to do) so we could have supper later. I was looking for beads and my hubby, who usually doesn't like going on adventures of these sorts was on a mission for frames. My friend had already gotten a cart full of goodies, but one really can spend hours looking at this or that putting together endless possibilities. I love the way the store is laid out. Everything is so neat and tidy. I have yet to see children running through the store and I've never gotten anything that was opened or torn or damaged in anyway. There are helpful staff all around, usually stocking shelves, who are ready to answer your questions and even do your craft or art project for you. They are just there to be of any service that they can. I really like Hobby Lobby and even was able to use my phone to show a coupon and got 40% off the highest priced item. Wow! Talk about customer service. I've been calling multiple stores looking to match an item. "You'll need to come in and see" was the common answer without even listening to my question. I called the Lombard Hobby Lobby and was connected with Scott. He listened, suggested two options that sounded similar. He set some aside for me to look at. Scott was there when I came in, got the items right away. Not quite the match but he suggested some alternatives and called another hobby lobby for their stock. This place is my weakness. I can never go in and just buy ONE thing. There's always something else that catches my eye and before I know it, my basket is full of stuff that I will put in a box to use later, yet never see again. That is, until Oprah has an episode on "Hoarding" and my family does a "Hobby Lobby" addict intervention. The selection is pretty good and the prices are great (especially that 40% coupon). Bad service at the Exchange/Return counter. Normally this Hobby Lobby has excellent service. However, I was in line to do a return (for items purchased recently with a receipt) and was waiting for a lady who had an item with no receipt or tag. Naturally this took a while (about 10 minutes). During this time, the cashier did not acknowledge me in any way - could have taken me ahead while the price check was going on or at least said sorry for the wait. When I mentioned this took a while, the cashier said "Well I do have OTHER customers" - very rude. I did tell the manager who said she would talk to her. read more
