Very poor customer service. I'm 9 months pregnant and came into the store this afternoon carrying my toddler looking for a cart to shop with. I asked Nicole, a manager, if they had any carts and she very rudely & quickly said they were VERY busy and there were no carts.... then kept walking. They lure you in with cute, kitschy decorations for everyone, slap on a 40% off sign, and wait for the fatties to go to town. However, their prices are RIDICULOUS when regular priced. Patricia the manager chose to close the 3rd register when there were about 25 people In 2 lines. I then said I had a return and she told me to go to the resister next to me. I did. I get to the register and can't return my items and I have to go to a different register. So I had to purchase my items at one register and then wait another 20minutes in line to get my refund. This place has the absolute worst customer service. Open You Registers. You have people asking for zip codes but no cashiers. Shame on this place. I will not be back! read more

Well, if you're looking for a place with an ABUNDANCE of Christmas decorations, look no further because Hobby Lobby is your place to go. Strangely enough, my friend took a trip to Kansas to visit some relatives and told me he saw this place there and we both cracked up at the name. Hobby Lobby? Hahahahahaha. Anyways, once we found out one was being built in Sacramento we knew we'd have to make a pitstop and see what it's like. At first glance I was expecting it to be like a Michael's or Joann. I wasn't prepared for just how huge this place is inside. I feel like you could spend hours here if you wanted to, just exploring the huge selection of home decor, craft tools, and accessories. They have a huge, and I mean HUGE, selection of Christmas ornaments and decorations. There was a whole wall full of Christmas ball ornaments, garlands, wreaths, lights, etc. I seriously felt overwhelmed. Not to mention there were aisles and aisles of different kinds of stockings and random decorations and even MORE ornaments! Where does it end?! Once we got past the Christmas section we saw everything from scrapbooking materials to baking supplies to sewing fabrics. If you're a really crafty person then this is your one-stop shop. The store is easily navigable and neat. We didn't have a chance to see EVERYTHING in here because that would have required us to spend at least an hour perusing every aisle, but we saw the majority of it. There's a Hobby Lobby in Elk Grove so I think I'll be going to that location more often but it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for holiday decorations or craft materials. read more

I *really* want to like this place, but I'm having a really hard time liking it. I've been in four times but have only left twice with very small purchases. I can afford most of the items at Hobby Lobby but I have a huge problem with this store. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm not a dinosaur who needs someone holding my hand in the store; but it'd be nice to be looked at as a human being instead of a hassle. Today, even the store manager (at least I think it was the manager because he wasn't wearing the HL colors, just regular clothes and a name tag) was acting like I was "problem" because I was in the isle he was resetting. It's not just the manager, it's all of the employees. They avoid customers like the plague. It's really super irritating and makes me not want to come back. I'll take my business elsewhere. Their items aren't *that* great anyway. Everything looks super cheap. I've worked at two different competitor stores in the past and I tell ya, if I ignored walking dollar signs as much as the folks at HL do, I'd be let go immediately. Have fun dying, HL brick and mortar. Maybe corporate should evaluate their employee performance every once in a while. P.S. Hobby Lobby - Arts & Crafts Near Me - Sacramento, California

Came here with a friend to check it out because we thought it was a hobby store (like for toy models, RC cars, etc.). Even though this place was not what we expected, we were pleasantly surprised and ended up browsing every corner of the store! This place is somewhat like a cross between Michaels and Pier 1/Cost Plus World Market - crafty, but also a ton of decorations for the home that range from knitting materials and paints to nautical decor and cute furniture. Prices are decent, although I guess I don't really know the going rate of a glass hourglass or a model boat, but I was very tempted to create a room in the house that is entirely nautical-themed! They have a huge selection of nice looking artificial flowers - I'd say this is bigger and better than those that are sold at Michael's; they even have cute little round bouquets that would be perfect for decorating the aisles in a wedding. This place really inspires the artist within! I will probably be returning soon to pick up some acrylics or oil paints and a canvas or two; I already had my eye on the big selection of Micron drawing pens. :) It is really a perfect place to spend a lazy weekend! This place is huge. If you're having trouble trying to find that one irritating thing you seem to be missing that nobody else seems to carry, chances are that you might just find it here. The store reminds me of a cross between Ikea and Michaels with more knick knacks, craft supplies and play things to be able to browse through in one quick stop. Like many craft stores, they seem to frequently have special deals and sales going on. As for the owner's obvious religious background, it's something even I've been able to ignore. Keep to your own sense of self and remember that you're in THEIR store and the way they go about their business is of little concern to those who make the decision to shop there. I'm not granting an extra star because I find that the store has almost too much going on and it can feel untidy and clustered. It's out of my own personal preference for not feeling overwhelmed and lost but I do recommend it to those looking for a one stop shopping spot. read more

I purchased 4 storage boxes because they where noted 50% off, when I got to the register, the lady told me they weren't on sale, I told her "oh there was a big sign in front of them" and says "nope not this week" I purchased them anyway because there was a line but the attitude from the cashier had me thinking I needed to look at the sign again, I go to the back and asked a genetalmen who was sweeping to help me and explained to him I didn't want to be a pain and he said he'd get me the help I needed, we walked to the front and as we passed a manager, instead of the manager asking me what he could help with he asked the associate how sweeping was going....as the gentleman found a girl up front to help me he told her I needed help, she looked me up and down and rolled her eyes at me... I explain that I was charged full price when the sign said half off... she told me I needed to wait in line again to be helped. At this point I didn't want to be helped by the same cashier who refused the discount in the first place, so I told her never mind and left. When I walked out I was so upset with how I was treated I was in tears. Iv worked in customer service for many years, so I never make a big deal of little mistakes but with the attitude of this staff I will not be returning. read more

After my last 2 times there I am DONE with this atore. Twice I've gotten something cut in the fabric dept, they write my ticket and then I proceed to stand in the long, slow line. Both times when they ring me up I notice that the trim Ive gotten does not ring up at the sale price. When i bring this up they tell me "thats fabric, you'll have to take it up with them". Nevermind the fact that a store should be aware of their current sales going on, but what takes the cake is even when they have an ear piece walkie talkie they won't even ask someone in fabric about it. The first time i simply just didnt get it but purchased the rest of my items. The last time I left with nothing. I love hobby lobby! The first time I went to one was back in Georgia a few years ago, and I'm glad they've opened a few here. I love roaming the isles and coming up with ideas for things I'd like to do. The only problem I have is with the check out. If i could give zero stars I would...I left without purchasing anything because I witnessed an interaction with an associate and a customer. The customer was told "stop ringing the bell because no one is here to help you!" She then continued to raise her voice at the guest which blew my mind. Let me start off by saying that I love what Hobby Lobby has to offer. Crafts, decor, and fabric! They've got it all BUT they are severely understaffed. That combined with the fact that the isles aren't labeled leads to a lot of confusion and wasted time walking around with little kids. Great selection but POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! No one asks you for help. They just walk right past you. There are craft stores and then there are craft stores on crack. Hobby lobby unfortunately falls into the crack category. As soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed with aisle and aisle of decorations, ribbons and glitter. As if there wasn't enough to choose from they also set up tiny displays on any free floor space and cover them with so many items that if you walk to close by everything will fall off. I was glad to find the materials I need to make some wreaths. They have a much larger selection than Michael's and parking is not an issue here. But after only five minutes inside my brain was on sensory overload. Seriously, while I was trying to look at Christmas stuff I was bombarded with Halloween to my left and thanksgiving to my right. Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing and I think this places suffers greatly from the more is more complex. I left empty handed and couldn't wait to leave. read more

This location is horrible! The workers are so rude... Never say hello when you walk in the store and can't help you find anything! This has not just been from one shopping trip there. This has happended to me several times shopping there and now I'm done, I'll never shop there again. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the store but this locations workers are the worst!!!!!! Absolutely poor customer service. I had a return today and the cashier lady was ready to help me, had the transaction almost ready to go, when another lady came and interrupted and said it couldn't be done. The credit card I paid with expired therefore they couldn't do it they said. No where in the receipt is this policy listed and honestly it comes down to not letting a customer leave the store frustrated because of something the customer couldn't help. I couldn't believe they wouldn't give me store credit, it was a $5 item..., poor poor management and an extremely disappointing experience. read more

Wanted to see what the new Hobby Lobby was about so went there yesterday. The store is clean, product well organized, some really nice home decor items, but definitely had a lack of staff on the floor. Checked out the fabric department which is small; a decent variety of fabrics; fabrics were reasonably priced, not all bolts were marked with pricing. Unfortunately there one around to ask questions or to cut. There is a bell on the cutting counter to ring for customer service which one lady did ring and no one came to cut her order. So she left as did I. When there are no sales associate on the floor in a department that requires personal attention the store will loose sales and the customer (like me) will tell people about their "bad" experience and post negative reviews on Yelp (like me). This review is meant to focus on the lack of staffing on the floor not the quality of the products. read more

Recently Hobby Lobby opened in the completely remodeled and improved strip-mall off of Arden Way just west of Arden Fair Mall. When I first walked in I immediately felt visual overload, this is a huge space with rows and rows of shelves that tower above my head; there was just too much to take in all at once. This place has everything for arts & crafts, sewing, also decorative items and furnishings, ready made frames frames and custom framing. Everything appeared well organized in departments, attractively displayed, and there seemed to be 50% off signs almost everywhere. When it came time to check out it seemed as if all the employees had specific instructions to be effusively welcoming, friendly, and polite. This store had a sign as you entered proclaiming they are not open on Sundays so employees can enjoy family time, etc. That sounds nice ... but I wonder if this is also indicative of the business owners imposing their religious beliefs on employees, and I don't think that would be nice. read more
