This Hobby Lobby location is ok. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable for the products they carry. Seems to have something for any craft needs. Hobby Lobby has other items too. Prints, storage containers, some furniture, and other items. Where this store is located is not bad. If not familiar with the area , it can be missed. Every time I come in it's the same old ladies in the back checkout talking and laughing doing absolutely nothing with one guy checking out a long line. I come in pretty often as I have a craft business so it's not just rare occasion this happens. They just stand there and talk drama, I shouldn't learn about their personal lives. They should be working. After a line of people I went to the checkout all three were standing at to which they guided me right back to the line and said he'd check me out, then continued to talk about their life drama. One has a nice gold nametag, so don't know what she's getting paid for but it's not doing her job! (Edit) from now on I will go to Michael's where it's quicker more efficient service just for a few dollars more. read more

So, I have no idea why this particular Hobby Lobby location has such a low rating when it truly serves as a model for all the rest of the stores. It has a 4.5 rating on Google Maps however. One of the low ratings on Yelp called it a "sad, sad store". Listen this Hobby Lobby is FAR from sad. This is the most well organized, clean, and well displayed Hobby Lobby's I've visited. I am Army and have to travel alot. One of the things I like to do is visit the different Hobby Lobby locations and this one is far from sad. The staff told me that they take great pride in making sure the store is well maintained and it showed. This is my new favorite location hands down. read more

This is a sad sad Hobby Lobby. Only half the store is full. Seeing the empty shelves make me not want to even stop in because I assume that I won't even find what I'm looking for. Yes everything is on sale all the time and yes you can go in wanting one thing and walk out with a cart full of useless items but if you are looking for something specific, I wouldn't stop at this HL location. There are always long waits to check out. on 9/20/22 I was in line for 15 minutes because an extensive " return" was being conducted at the head of the line I was in. The "Return Register" was not operating. One out of two registers was bogged down with this return. The front end manager, Barbara, called twice to back up cashiers..... However, nobody came up front. Once the back up cashiers arrived, Barbara, didn't have the presence of mind to verbally direct customers to opening checkout stands. At this time there were 13 customers waiting to check out. I had a few words with Barbara why she didn't tell customers ( including myself) that there was a return being processed so don't line up behind this return! Barbara should have called for backup when she saw the return holding up the line, but failed to react in a timely and efficient manner. Barbara's management skills were a dismal failure. This store has always had poor checkout service!!! The next time I have to endure this poor checkout experience I will dump my item where I stand!! read more

I've visited this location many times, employees are wonderfully helpful and kind. The store itself is stocked nicely and clean however my last two encounters with the assistant manager Lisa have been very unpleasant to say the least. I had a simple inquiry about the company policies because I had a feeling she was making them up just to make life harder for the customers. She refused to show me the said policies and was extremely abrasive and in general: a rude individual. Her demeanor towards me was very hostile as if she did not approve of my skin. Frankly I left the store very upset and confused. I did not expect this kind of behavior from what looked like a seasoned professional. read more

I have gone into hobby lobby a few times, because I like to knit scarves. However, I have never experienced good costumer service from this particular Hobby Lobby. I bought a Saint Patrick's Day headband for about three dollars, and it broke in half on the second time I wore it. It was labeled as adult, so I know my head size had nothing to do with it. The prices are a bit expensive for me, and I always fear that I will accidentally tap something and it will crash into the floor, making me have to pay for some overly priced thing that I never even cared to look at. The store is clean, but the people that I have experienced are not positive. I saw a lady ask for something high on a shelf, and the sales clerk actually told her he didn't feel like getting it for her. What kind of costumer service is that? read more

this hobby lobby is boring and seems really bleck. kinda like an old HEB (grocery store for those who don't live in Texas) that hasn't been remodeled in 20 years. they have the same stuff as any other hobby lobby. they lack for staff just like all the others. you have to roam around for several minutes before you can find anyone who works there. the cashiers don't seem to be as friendly as the ones at the Southpark Meadows location. read more

Terrible customer service aside from one cashier(I think his name is Alex or Alec) and one woman that's always in the fabric department, the older male manager is beyond rude and unhelpful and always has a frown on his face. You can walk through the entire store for over an hour and not have a single associate acknowledge you or offer help. The few times I have actively had to seek out an associate I have been met with rude responses or no help at all (such as getting spray paint from the cases or asking when an item will be re-stocked after visiting several times over a month looking for it). When they run out of an item that's on sale they wait until after the sale is over to stock the item again. I was told by an associate that this is standard practice and that I could purchase the items online with no shipping costs by searching for a "promo code" but she couldn't tell me what that code was or where to find it. I have used this Hobby Lobby location as my main art and craft supply store for a year and a half and have never had more than a "Meh, at least I got what I needed." experience. read more

I have lived in the Austin area for 10 years. Over time, I have shopped in at least four area Hobby Lobby stores here and several more when I lived in the Dallas area. I have rarely encountered encountered anything but excellent service. The San Marcos store is an older, smaller store because it is located in a small city and does not have the customer base of a larger, newer store. While I was learning to scrapbook, I had to ask many questions and had no trouble finding someone to answer my questions and direct me to the correct aisle. I have had a number of pictures framed in the framing department. They have always exceeded my expectations, spending as much time as necessary to help me get everything just right. Judging from their pictures, the young adults who have made extremely negative comments, laced with vulgarities, have not learned an important life lesson -- If you want respect, you must show respect! Furthermore, the language you use says more about you than about the employees you described. You won't be missed!!! read more

I shop at this hobby lobby all the time. They usually have everything i need and plenty if things i didn't know i wanted. Lots of cool ideas come out of shopping here. Staff are plenty nice. I've only seen an empty shelf when they were making room for new items. The jewelry selection is my favorite! I just wanted to point out the hobby lobby in san marcos, tx needs to get their employees straight especially when it comes to prices. I recently got a price for a frame for 114.00, left my picture there for 2 weeks and when I got back they priced me 168.00! I explained to the co-manager what had happened and told me that I can go back and speak to the girl who I talked to and the director. well I go back the next day and I talked to the girl, she told me all the prices are on the receipt and said yes, I know that but I left this picture here because you gave me the 114.00 price and I was willing to pay that. well no, she disagreed and to add on the director/manager didn't even show his face after I saw him in the back. I decided just for them to give me the picture back. I am very DISSAPOINTED because I usually love hobby lobby cause their helpful. NEVER again will I get framing done there, i'll be taking my framing else where. read more
