This place is mediocre to the one in Burbank in many ways. Seems like they can't keep the shelves full of the holiday stuff and the variety isn't as big as the one in I usually go to. My complaint is really about the customer service here. I work in retail and needed to decorate my store to gear up for the holidays, I came in spending well over 500 bucks which is a lot of stuff considering everything for Christmas was 60% off. Do you think anyone offered to help me to the car with my purchases? And there were several employees 3 feet away from me stock by the registers seeing me struggle. I had to make two trips!! Did I mention that initially I was in another lane and the cashier told me they are only forming one line. So I moved out her line just to see her taking other people as I was waiting to check out that wasn't in a one lane Formation! This place is the worse! I'll be spending my time in the Burbank location. We love this store! There are so much to look at. No one really bothers you, so you can take your time browsing. Every time I stop in, there are always new inventory and more fun inspirational ideas for diy crafts. This place is ginormous and they have all kinds of stuff for all your hobby needs. I was in here to find adult coloring books for my mom as she's been burning through books rapidly. I'm always on the lookout for new books so she has plenty to color. They had a couple of racks of various types of coloring books and I was able to pickup a few. The quality of paper was good and there weren't much leakage through each of them after mom got through with them. Again the place is ginormous and they had all sorts of things for many types of hobbies. The place was relatively clean and the staff were helpful enough that I wasn't wondering through the aisles aimlessly. West Covina, CA We received SUPERB customer service from Kingsley, Store Manager and Sergio, Assistant Manager. They helped us order and receive product in a timely fashion. I recently learned that if the store is out of stock of an item, you can order more of the item you are looking for and have it delivered the same week as long as you catch them before their "order day" of the week. Each store has a different order day so check accordingly with store personnel. Here is how it works...the store will give you a "rain check" for an out of stock item and as long as their warehouse has stock, they can get it in the same week! I think I ordered by Monday or Tuesday and the order came in a truck on Friday of the same week. I did not believe this could happen, because they could not guarantee 100% that the item would be on the truck, but it did happen! Kingsley helped check the truck load when it came in on the Friday and sure enough our order was on it! The management here saved us from a lot of running around trying to find items! I live pretty far from this hobby lobby but I prefer to come to this one than the one in Burbank because they have a wider selection and more stock. I was enjoying my time walking around looking around and shopping. The store was a little messy it looked like they were setting up for Christmas no big deal. A few random ladders in the aisle a little inconvenient but just went around them. It wasn't until I was about to leave that made me want to write a review unfortunately. As I was leaving there was only one lane open "exchange and refund" a worker was on another lane but had the " registered closed" okay? So as myself and 3 other customers were trying to figure out what to do about 3 workers and the manager were literally right in front of us talking and pretty much ignoring us. It wasn't until another customer spoke up and asked what line do we used that they stopped talking and answered the refund and exchange line. I was very bothered at the lack of professionalism and the lack of customer service. I go to Michael's and Joanns most of the time for fabric amd crfr items. I do t k ow why I didn't scope this place out. It's humongous and has so much cool stuff. The only downside for me is that you rely on the cashier to know the product prices by memory if its not marked. And also if they have items on sale or not. No scanning, just number punching. One of the few Hobby Lobbies in the area. It is definitely more well stocked than the Michael's since you can get sewing materials here (fabric, ribbon, bias tape, etc) and other crafting items. Definitely check if they have coupons on their site or if they have a current deal going on. You can definitely shave of tens of dollars if you shop smart. My only issue is that if something isn't on sale, it really makes me grit my teeth to dish out the cash to buy crafting materials. Especially since I went out of my way to go here. Additionally, EVERY SINGLE time I have been here, it seems that only 1-2 cashiers are available and a massive line of people waiting to purchase their goods. Today I visited the West Covina Hobby Lobby as I often do for my art and other hobby supply needs. Today I needed marking pens. I normally purchase Faber Castell PITT artist pens and MICRON archival ink pens. As I was looking through that section in the store I noticed there was an 8 piece MICRON set with two different price tags. One for $16.99 and the other for $4.99. I often find items that have been discounted for much lower than the 50% off sales. I thought because the set was not the usual black ink but rather light cool gray and cool gray colors, perhaps it was one of the items discounted. I had many other marked down items in my cart for purchase. I did mention to the register clerk that the pen set had two stickers. The clerk asked another employee for a price check. The employee walked to the register area to get the pen set to scan it. As she was doing that, she and the register clerk stated that the two tags were very suspicious. I interpreted this comment to imply that I had added the second tag. A lady standing by the carts somehow got involved in the discussion of the second tag. She questioned the 4.99 price, she said a set like that would not cost 4.99 and said if they were priced that low then she was going to purchase all of them. The set did scan at 16.99. The register clerk asked if I still wanted it. I went looking for pens and my intention was to purchase them. I have been a dedicated Hobby Lobby customer and have spend thousands of dollars in art and other hobby supplies. I took great offense at the comments that were made during my transaction. The amount of my purchase today was not just the cost of the pens but a total of $244.02. I am an honest person and have no need or desire to break the law by switching or adding price tags to deceive a merchant. read more

Honestly I can't stand staying in here for more than 10 minutes because of how big the place is and how there are so much things. I've been here a few times and each other was with my sisters. There are some awesome stuff and things in here. They even some nice vintage furniture here as well. Almost every associate that I've ran into have been nice and were willing to help out as well so kudos to that. You may think, omg another craft store, but! you need to know, not all craft stores are created equal. Hobby Lobby has a huge selection of home decor compared to the other stores. For Christmas, their stores seriously becomes Santa's workshop, all the decors you would need to deck out your own place. I normally come in closer to the end of the year, for random holiday add on items to our tree at home. They are also good for their jars, they have a lot of different kinds like: light bulb shape or hearts, you name it, they got it. Compared to Michaels, they sell a lot more shirts and fabrics, oh did I mention, they sell a lot of cute cups. A lot of their items are seasonal, and you can def count of them for having something different each season. Their home decor items, really makes your home feel more homey. Signs you can put up in the laundry room and bathroom, a lot of nice fabric and weaved baskets. Oh yes, their fabric, i want to say, their have a lot of cute patterns, that you cant find in other stores, the fabric section is also super organized and clean, i really appreciate that. When you grab one, the ones next to it wouldn't be falling over on you. I noticed that they also have a photo framing area, I haven't looked into their pricing, but if you were shopping around, I am sure you would be able to find a good deal. Staff is always super friendly and nice, they are always very helpful, there were a few times i wanted to buy something that they didn't have in the front, they actually went to the back, checked and got it for me. I am vassilating between 3 and 4 stars, so I rounded up. I am almost positive I left a review for another location of HL, so I'll keep this one short and sweet. Its like Jesus took Joann's, Michael's and Aaron brothers and rolled 'em all together. HL has EVERYTHING including full-service fabric department (yay!) and framing services. Every imaginable craft supply you can think of, and a really respectable amount and variety of fine artist's supplies. Home decor as well, and even though I was expecting extreme cheesiness, it was actually very nice. Many of the items were proudly displaying a "Made in the U.S.A." sign and label and I really dig that. Another reviewer noted the antiquated system (non-system, really) of each cashier having to "check" on a list to see if an item is on sale, and then manually input the discount. I agree that is INSANE especially in a place of this size. My cashier was clearly flustered (it was opening week after all) and I watched him like a hawk to make sure he was entering in my 50% discount, and I made sure to thoroughly check my receipt, but I can see where something might slip through the cracks. That procedure needs some serious overhauling. Other than that, these guys are closed on Sunday, which I think is pretty nice for employees. I am glad we have one close by for the odd craft project, great alternative to Michael's and JoAnn's, which are getting more annoying by the day. read more

Second, they refused to honor their sale! 50% off sewing notions. They charged me FULL price. I made them take it off. In the past Hobby Lobby has provided exceptional customer service to me each and every time I've shopped there. However today, (10/4), I had the worst experience. I was looking for an item and found only two of the four I needed. I asked a gentleman, who I believe was either the Manager and or assistant manger, (according to his name tag), if he could call the nearby store for the other two items. He informed me that store policy was that they do not contact other stores to inquire about merchandise. I found this extremely strange since other stores I've shopped at never took issues with contacting other stores. It was clear to me, that this individual did not have customer service at the forefront and had no desire in wanting to help me. I contacted Holly lobby corporate office and found that there is no store and/or company policy forbidding employees from reaching out to other stores. In fact, it's encouraged. I will no longer shop at hobby lobby in West Covina. I'd ask that training be provided to the management team at Hobby Lobby on customer service/relations. read more

My hubby & I found such great decor pieces here for our new home. We scooped up some awesome wall art, frames, baskets, and rustic knick knacks. You can literally find anything that will go with a theme you have in mind because they have a huge variety. For us, we were able to find decor to go with our 'modern farmhouse' look. The only thing is that you can get a bit lost in abyss of aisles, so definitely go when you have an idea of what you want... otherwise, it can get overwhelming. I waited in line for 20-30 mins only to be told I could only purchase and could not return in any line other than register 6. So, all my time practically went down the drain and I had to wait again at register 6 to complete a return. Mind you, the return sign isn't incredibly visible from the main aisle so the staff talking down to me like I was stupid and couldn't read signs was the cherry on top of this long wait in line. read more
