Stay away, Hodges Marina is a scam. Yes, low prices and if you have no reason to deal with their customer service then all is good. ON the other hand, as in my case, when they send you damaged goods they refer you to the manufacturer, even though you didn't ever deal with the manufacturer. They have a "it's not our problem" approach to anything that goes wrong. If you contact the manufacturer, as I did, they say "you have to deal with Hodges Marine". The manufacturer is in fact correct, if you buy through Hodges Marine you have a business contract with them not the manufacturer. They also charge huge fees to return anything and make you pay shipping even though you have been sent a damaged product. Hodges Marine are scam artists. read more

Ordered a fishfinder/GPS and transducer. It shipped immediately and arrived quickly. I'm a scientist based in Saudi Arabia and shipping here can be a pain. Prices and shipping are great. That's the only good things to say about them. I ordered life jacket which once I tried it on it was too large. The shipping cost out of pocket to send it back costs as much as the life jacket. Called in and asked if I could pay for a return label at their cost and they would not allow it. They kept saying they would not provide a label. This irritated me as I did not want them to provide a label but instead allow me to pay for a label so I would not be at such a loss on the shipping. This was too much of a problem for them so they just blocked me from purchasing on their site. All the money I had spent with them previous to this they did not care. I had ordered from them in the past due to cheap prices and they drop ship fast. DROP SHIP as in they do not stock their items hence their cheap prices and lack of quality control. After my issue with them I have read many reviews on people with large orders getting open boxes and missing parts. Those poor customer got the run around also. Pay a little more else where and save yourself a potential headache and lost time. read more

They sent me a follow up email asking me to post this feedback. The transaction was a very simple purchase, therefore I don't have a lot to say. Will not refund money for product not received. My bank, Fedex, and Visa all did investigations and said to go back to the shipper for a refund. They refuse to do anything even though I have provided documentation from everyone. My next step is the bbb and file a small claims lawsuit. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. I have ordered from Hodges Marine a couple of times. Prices are good and they have had what I want. The only real negative I have is their payment verification system. I was emailed after my initial order and was instructed about how to verify my payment method. I did this and then was sent a 2nd email with instructions about how to verify my initial verification. A verification for my verification? Seems redundant. read more

I ordered an electronic part for my boat recently. It arrived quickly, but unfortunately one of the connectors was damaged. A quick trip to their website was all it took to arrange for an RMA and the new part was on its way from Hodges as soon as I entered the UPS tracking number for the return. Great prices no doubt. I've been doing business with Hodges for several years and never had a problem until I needed to return a $2,400 Raymarine Chartplotter. I ordered the unit in error not knowing it didn't have sonar...my bad. But to be charged a 20% restocking fee is outrageous. I've spent over $10,000 in 2 years at Hodges Marine and they charged me $521 to return a product I simply could not use. Very disappointed and angry. It's unfortunate, but I'll be doing business elsewhere. Not to mention all of the business I pushed their way within my marina. read more

I figured I would give this horrible company another shot to fix themselves and they held my order pending for 3 weeks then cancelled it without telling me. when I spoke to the representative they said, "It was the best interest for the company to cancel my order." They were (initially) good on price for a ditch-bag, so I ordered from them. When I came to use the bag (within their returns window), I found that it had a ripped seam, so returned it to them. Their returns policy states that the customer pays for return shipping, which I queried, as the item was defective when shipped by them - hardly my fault! They ignored this query. After I'd received, and verified, the replacement, I again contacted them about the return shipping, which was a, not insignificant, percentage of the item cost. After *three* messages over 16 days, they eventually replied that they were not willing to refund the postage, as, in their opinion, it wasn't their fault that the item was defective. They claimed to have no control over this. Next time, I'll order elsewhere - if I'd purchased this from Amazon, I wouldn't be out of pocket (and as much time) just to receive what I paid for. read more

I was price shopping online for charts and the best price for Navionics Updates came from Hodges Marine Electronics. I checked out their busy website. I always look to see if a company which is unknown to me has their actual address and telephone number listed somewhere in the website. Sure enough it appears in the "about us" along with their Duns number. So I place an online order Tuesday Evening. On Wednesday I see a confirmation in the email. On Thursday I see the Tracking number and the estimated delivery says "Thursday." Sure enough it arrived to me in 1 business day. Too cool. read more

My experience with Hodges has been horrible. Twice I have ordered parts from them, both times they have claimed to have shipped the item, but didn't ship it. They provided Fed-X tracking number but it never shows being picked up. Contacting their customer service department - they won't do anything until after Fed-X was suppose to have delivered the package. So you then wait for them to trace it with Fed-X, then wait for them to reship the item. I tried to discuss the issue with someone in authority but was not allowed to get thru their "customer service" firewall of people. Frustrating, time consuming, and unreliable company to deal with - DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE. read more

I had an issue with an antenna that was damaged in shipping, after a couple of email exchanges and a photo they had a replacement sent out at no cost to me. Satisfied customer. I've never had to return anything from them so I have nothing to contribute regarding their returns policy. I recently used Hodges Marine for the first time as they had better prices than the other major online marine sales people for the radio equipment I was after. They shipped the same day I ordered, and the items arrived two days later. One of the items I ordered was not powering up properly, then not at all (GX2200). After talking to Standard Horizon they suggested that I talk to the seller. The day after I emailed Hodges Marine, they had a prepaid UPS shipping label in my inbox to return the radio for a replacement. I shipped the radio out that day, and Hodges Marine had my new radio shipped before the bad one had arrived at their warehouse. All together, they had great prices, very fast shipping, and although not very talkative / interactive - very effective return department. read more

horrible customer service, ordered item on their site that states 27 inches, was sent 24 inches. returned item and they try to charge over 40.00 for 150.00 item, even though it was their fault it was returned. should of sent what I ordered. Do not buy from this company!!! They do not stand behind what they sell. Bought an Atwood water heater two months ago and it is no longer working. They now claim that they cannot get a replacement even though I can buy one on numerous sites. All I wanted was an exchange. Was told to contact the manufacturer and find a service center. Called manufacturer but the service centers say I will have to leave the heater and it could take up to a month for service. I cannot operate my mobile dog grooming business without a water heater. I am going to have to try and get it fixed myself. I also asked several times to speak or email an owner or supervisor and I was never given the information. read more

Over the years, I have purchased a lot of electronics and other marine equipment ( pumps, antennas, electrical stuff, etc. ) on Hodges ( I have extensively equipped three different boats, during the last 5 years). Overall, I am very satisfied and recommend them, strongly. I rarely find something on another site that is at a lower cost that Hodges. You have to know what you want, though. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, returns are their weak area. They are my go-to site for pretty much anything. If they carry it, chances are I will buy from Hodges. They also have shipping deals at times, where the entire order ships for one small fee ( around $9 ). Very helpful. I hate vendors who charge a shipping fee for each item on an order, and will not buy from such sites. Also, I have called them about items that they do not list on their site, and they usually will special order anything they can get for their great discounted price. No returns on special orders, though. Recommended! read more
