We got to relax for awhile under a Beach umbrella and then it was time to help push the canoe into the water and hop on in and start paddling! We had three crew members with us - it was a BLAST!! The fun and views of surfing, without having to get in the water (though we did get a little wet) and no worries about balance. The outrigger canoe has the "ama" (the stabilizing float part) which made it smooth and easy...except for the paddling. Very safe (and that's coming from a former Risk Manager). I have no upper arm strength and we had to paddle hard at times and had we done it any longer than our 30-40min, I would definitely have had a blister. It was a beautiful morning (so thankful there was no rain), ocean was calm, and riding in the three waves was exceptional and something I am so glad they captured on video for us so we can truly remember the feeling always!! This is a MUST DO next time you are in Hawaii!

We know the state now has a lottery that requires you to sign up 2 days in advance, and the tickets go quickly. We did not want to risk not getting to go, so we booked an excursion, as they are given spaces for their guests.I checked the reviews and choices and booked with Hanauma Bay Snorkel Adventures several weeks before our trip. We know that mornings are best for water clarity and calmer surf - and we've found the fish tend to be more abundant in the AM, so we booked the morning slot. We received emails and were told the van would pick us up at our Waikiki hotel at 5:40 a.m. We were waiting a few minutes, and then the van came to our hotel. We climbed in, and with 2 other couples and the driver, we were off in the dark. First stop was their dive shop - on the way, on the other side of Diamond Head. Snorkel gear was distributed (we brought our own), and then we climbed into the van and drove a short distance to the Hanauma Bay entrance. We gathered as a small group and went into the park together (you'll bring $25 cash each person for the Hanauma Bay ticket - not included in the excursion payment). There is a mandatory short movie (around 15 minutes) that is primarily a primer to keep the reef and marine life safe. We took the free tram down to the bay (you can also walk - a bit of a steep hill). They have bathrooms with changing stalls at the beach. We were on the beach as the sun's first rays shone across the bay - it was a beautiful morning. We got in 3 separate snorkel sessions going out into zone 2 (through the buoys and past the first reef) where it's deeper, and we saw greater numbers of fish. If this is your first time snorkeling or you are less experienced, I would caution you to check with the lifeguards on the beach before doing this.About 3 hours later, it was time to pack up, and we took the tram to the top, where we waited a few minutes with the group we traveled with in the morning. Our van showed up and drove us straight back to our hotel. We very much enjoyed the day, but honestly would have preferred to be on our own so we could choose when we wanted to leave. But for many who visit Oahu and stay in Waikiki, this is a good way to snorkel at Hanauma Bay. NOTE: I do see a number of reviews that speak of rude staff and substandard transportation. Fortunately for us, we did not experience any of that on our trip.

The many products are excellent, and you also get to try them out before you buy. Firstly, you walk in and immediately Braddah Wayne starts a conversation with you so that he can better understand your skill level, style, and/or intentions with the products. He will also ask you what breaks you typically ride. You could be a novice or veteran board rider and he will recommend the best product for your personal needs and desires. Of course, his conversations with the more advanced riders will be more specific, but he is excellent in explaining shapes, nose and tail design, appropriate volume, and even paddle length to the new riders. Secondly, the diversity in products that he has in stock is ridiculous! He makes it easy for you to find exactly what you need. From different lengths, widths, designs, and finishes, you will be sure to find the ONE that will suit you. Do you want to do laps at Ala Moana, Lanikai, or Moanalua, he will have that for you. Do you surf south side, north, east, or west, there is a design for you. It's hard to leave without admiring the artful designs, whether solid colors or textured. They are all beautiful. Finally, the best part is that you get to even TRY the board before you buy. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THAT! Like buy clothing, you try it on for proper fit. With his boards, you get to take it to your favorite spot and test it out to see it if fits YOUR personal needs. I've tried several boards of his and in different sizes and finally decided on one (10' Viper) that doesn't only fulfill my surfing needs, it is also absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Do yourself a favor, get out and get active. What a better way in a beautiful place to do just that. Ride comfortable, ride with purpose, and ride in style. For the past 3 days, I have been taking out a Hoe He'e Nalu Longboard (11' 3/4" x 25" x 3 5/8"). I own several longboards of all different sizes and shapes that I collected over the years, but this one by far is just the most fun to ride. On the first day, took it to Canoes where it was a smaller 2-3 day. Not a problem. For a novice rider like myself, these are the days when you stay out for 8 hours or until the sun has completely cleared the horizon and beyond. The slower crumbly waves still managed to allow this board to carve up and down, and a little nose ride as well. On day two, took it out to Lighthouse (Diamond Head area) where the break I was on was a little more steep. Swells were a little higher than the day before at canoes, but nevertheless so fun to ride. For a big board or 11 + feet, it was still easy to paddle, easy to catch, and fun to ride. I admit, I do get a little intimidated at DH with all the old-timers there, but I tried to stay away from the bigger crowds and made sure they had enough of their time. Otherwise, if I was alone, I definitely would be on way more waves just because this board allows me to. You still gotta work, but it is definitely way more easier to maneuver than all the boards I have collected over the years. Third day, still recovering for two 8+ hour sessions, I decided to go out to Canoes again. Still my favorite spot since I've been going there since childhood. Again, a fun day. Now, I only mentioned the last three days that I have gone out. However, I have had the board for over a week and Ive gone out a few times before, just that south side did not have favorable conditions. Nevertheless, I went out to Concessions (small), and Kewalos (smaller), but was fun getting in the training anyway. The only disapointment I am feeling right now is that, I don't own a Hoe He'e Nalu Longboard 11'. So, Braddah Wayne, please call me when something comes in. I just might not return this one to you. I preordered a custom 9'3 Cheater and was told my SUP would take about 3-6 weeks to arrive. I just moved back to Hawaii and arrived last week. Its been five weeks since I placed my order and I texted Hoe He'e Nalu Boardriders today to check on my order status. I immediately got a text back saying my board was ready for pick up. I went down this morning to pick it up and it is beautiful. I love it. I went down to Waikiki to try it out. My heart was pumping with excitement. The board paddled and surfed just like they said it would and better!!! This board is fast!!! And super responsive!!! It took my breath away!!! My brother and his wife flew into town from Maui and they wanted to go standup paddleboarding. I called Hoe He'e Nalu and found out they had sups for rent. Their sup rental prices were the best on Oahu. Only $20 for one day and this includes board, paddle, and leash. I checked around and the other sup shops were asking $40 to $50 a day. Hoe He'e Nalu Boardriders will also deliver your sups to Ala Moana Beach if you rent 2 or more sups. We rented two sups and they delivered them right to the beach. These guys are unreal, Great prices. Awesome service. And most of all they have super high-quality stuff. This company designs and manufactures its own sups. Very high-performance products. We were visiting family on Oahu this past Christmas and wanted to rent a standup paddleboard. We were looking for a Waikiki Beach sup rental store or Ala Moana Beach sup rental shop and a friend told us to call Hoe He'e Nalu. We called them and these guys had the best standup paddleboard rental prices on the island. Only $20 a day! Included board, leash, and paddle!!! And they provided free delivery and pickup!!! They dropped the board off right at the beach - 20 feet from the water. And they picked up the board at the same spot. It was such a hassle-free experience. The sups were also beautiful Hawaiian designed boards. Super stable and easy to paddle. My wife and I had a blast. We had so much fun we decided to stay at the beach all day. I am so stoked with these guys I am posting here. I checked out the usual places and saw the usual bamboo and carbon boards. I went into this place not knowing what to expect and left super impressed. Wow. I immediately fell in love with two boards when I walked in. The 7'10 Piranha and 7'7 Viper are very modern-looking sups. These sups look like high-performance surf boards. I tried the 7'10 Piranha and 7'7" Viper. I'm a big girl at 5'8 and 140 lb. I went with the larger 7'10 Piranha. I love this board. This little sup rips! The 7'7 Viper is great shortboard sup too. But it's more for a guy. I am soooo happy with my new FunStix sup. I have been shopping around for a standup paddle board for a few months. I visited all of the local shops on Oahu. But the boards were kind of heavy. I then went to Hoe He'e Nalu Boardriders and found out that they had a free sup clinic coming up. I signed up and went down to their sup workshop. I liked the small group and tried some boards. The first thing I noticed was how light the boards were. I also liked how stable and smooth the sups paddled over the water. I was sold and purchased the 10'2 FunStix. I highly recommend these guys. On February 27, 2020 an arsonist started a fire in the Waikiki surf racks. Over 500 surfboards were destroyed. Two of the boards were my treasured SUPs. One of them was a 9'8 Hoe Nalu Titan. I was devastated. The next morning I dragged myself into Wayne's shop hoping to find the right board that was affordable. He gave me a great deal on the same board but in carbon fiber. So I damaged my rear carbon fiber Reserve wheel. I called up reserve to see about a warranty…read morereplacement. I took a photo and they sent out a replacement but it needed to be built using my old hub. So they had me go to a local Cervelo dealer with a claim number that would bill them for the labor. I sent Boca a note and the owner got back to me quickly saying that he had two great in house wheel builders. Perfect. So I went to drop off my wheel on a Saturday. The guy at the counter seemed confused because I was doing warranty work on a wheel not purchased at Boca. So I explained to him Reserve is a Cervelo brand. And Reserve gave me a claim number they could input in their computer to have the labor paid for since I supplied all the parts. He still seemed a bit uncertain but he took the wheels (new and damaged). I filled out a slip but didn't receive a receipt, which made me a little uneasy since this was my first time in the store. He said 2-4 days. Not hearing from Boca, I called the following Friday. The guy who answered had no idea what I was talking about and just said it would be another couple of days. So I'm legit worried now. I emailed Boca again just to ensure I did everything right (no response this time). But I get a call back later that day from Boca--I guess the guy went into the back to look for my wheel or whatever--and he's like they're just waiting on Cervelo to give them the ok to do the claim so that their builder gets paid. I was like Reserve gave me a claim number and I wrote it on the slip I had to fill out (and in my email). The next Tuesday/Wednesday, I receive a call from Boca saying the wheel was ready for pickup. So a week and a half versus the 2-4 days I was originally promised. I'm sure the delay had everything to do with the whole claim system or whatever for the labor cost. But I'm out riding again. The wheel feels great so far. I have zero complaints. I think the builder did a great job and I'm glad they were able to sort out whatever they needed to so I could get back on the road. If I was in the market for a Cervelo, I'd definitely give Boca my business. Mostly pleasant experience. But I would have preferred to get some sort of receipt when I dropped off my wheels initially.

The Magnum Summit alone had a kick I wasn't expecting on take off and I admit I almost ate sh#t right out the gate on my test ride. My Grogu spirit guide was watching over me that day. Also, an attractive looking hardtail with a unique boxy frame that I have not seen on similar rides. He provides a year warranty on all purchases if anything should happen electronically, etc. It is local business like Ride Ebikes Hawaii that helps acoustic / pedal bicycle riders like me (in this case for trail) to transition to electric. Also, Justin also offers rentals in a wide array of models and even a trike in case you are on the fence about the upgrade, which I assure you is a great investment. Bought a Revi Cheetah from the shop, no problems yet. - Got…read moreinto an accident, took bike back, bent forks and a bent axel. - Insurance paid me $1,050 which I paid him for repairs. - I got upgraded forks and ok'd the repairs. - He DIDN'T repair the bent axel and instead told me I needed a whole new assembly. $1,050 got me upgraded shocks ($480) and "labor". $1,050 and that got me new shocks put on and fenders held on by ZIP TIES. - Went to an actual repair shop (McCully Bike, Sporting and Repair, highly recommended) and in 15 seconds he identified the bent axel and gave me a quote that sure as hell wasn't the price of a new assembly. Stay away from this guy for repairs... Sales 10/10 Repair -1/10
